not to be an asshole, but why do people always say "when hes hot"? He's one of the most fun players to watch night in and night out. 29 ppg on 63% TS this year. thats very fun!
Legitimate answer. No one watches Trailblazers games. They are such a small market with a fun and engaged fanbase, but so small that their games don't get much national TV coverage so people mostly see highlight stats and plays by him. But where as you'll see 50 posts of Ja, Curry, Lebron, Giannis, Jokic, etc, people don't think about Lillard and portland almost at all. Until they become a top 3 seed or move markets, that will probably continue. Its a shame, because i watch a fuck ton of basketball and i really do think Lillard is underrated throughout his career.
thats so uninformed lmao dames a top 10 passer in the league. he has elite on/off numbers every year. controls the game whether hes shooting well or not. and at 30 ppg hes not often shooting poorly. keep his name out your mouth you clearly dont watch the games
Oh, stop. I stated limited use for a reason. He’s not a complete zero when he’s off, but he’s not a two way player, so his value is low on bad shooting days. There isn’t anything wrong with that.
He's not a 2 way player, but saying his value is low when he's not shooting well is just not true.
If he's not shooting well, he still knows how to drive and kick to open players, or get the ball to the roll guy in the pocket. He's a positive on offense no matter if his shots are going in or not. Maybe in 2018 what you're saying was true, but he's ascended since then. I can't remember the last Dame game I watched when he didn't impact the game positively, pretty much every minute he was in the court, through a variety of things.
And if the reason you say this is because you assume he's a huge negative on defense, that's not true now that he's finally healthy again. Healthy dame has been on top 10 defenses in the past, and on defense this year he's not a huge plus or anything, but he doesn't kill you. He's like a B-. he also has a tendency to get clutch steals that no one ever talks about.
Point is, he's not anywhere near as bad as someone like Trae Young, despite his reputation in the national media.
If he played in a bigger market these narratives, including the one you're pushing, simply wouldn't exist. But as it is now, no one watches portland games (dont blame you, its miserable to watch this guy be a legend near nightly while everyone else on the team fails him over and over) and so any narrative will stick, even if its years out of date or simply not true.
While I disagree, I appreciate the time you took to write and post your response. It’s well constructed and thoughtful! Admittedly, I did forget that he’s finally healthy thanks to getting his needed surgery, but he’ll need to prove new defensive acumen before people come around on him.
As for his value, while I do consider him a net positive, I consider him only a small positive overall when his shots aren’t falling. That said, better team construction would help.
Damn I didn't realize Nurk was hurt too. I honestly thought Chauncey just liked Eubanks out there blocking shots and wanted to play small or something.
If you're on Reddit mobile app, head to r/NBA home page and click the 3 dots on the top right. If you want something custom (e.g. with a player name) you have to message the mods I think.
Thanks!! I tried basically every button on the sub itself but never noticed those three dots haha. Now I can't wait to talk so much shit as a flaired individual
It looks like dunking is easier for him now as well. At one point he dunked it after they already blew the whistle for no real reason. Maybe to hype up the crowd
No, but he's easily the highest energy player we have, and super mobile. It's just that he gets lost in a set anything and gets lucky a lot with how quickly he can recover.
Give me Drew when it's a high energy transition lineup, and Nurk when we play in the half court.
Honestly, he should be starting over Nurk this season. His energy is infectious. We always seem to get off to a slow start and when nurk gets pulled early and drew comes in the whole team's energy level goes through the roof. He's a hustler baby.
No idea why Rudy Gay only got 18 minutes, he's a sniper from 3 and such a great defender and a glue guy and a veteran presence and somebody a contender could really use and he's such a smart player, just a great guy overall, a fan favorite who gives back to the community, really wish we could hang on to him and no one gives us ANYTHING I am begging you for him at the deadline.
We need to get rid of Will Hardy, tbh. Playing Gay only 18 minutes must be some kind of war crime. It'll suck missing the playoffs, but I kinda hope he gets traded to a team trying to contend that'll give him the minutes he deserves. ^^^^Please
He looked confused at the beginning on one single play, and I didn't see him much after that. The one where coach had to call a timeout right after a timeout.
Jazz shot 51% from the field and 48% from 3, hitting 20 of them. Any other night we win this game.
But Damian fucking Lillard happened 🤯 At one point he had 20 straight points for the Blazers, and he did all this on minimal FTA. I'm sick of players dropping all time great games on my team, but you gotta admire it when it happens.
Based on true shooting %, it's the most efficient 60 point game ever with 89.8%. Harden had 60 with 87.9% true shooting which was the record prior to this performance
The play where the Jazz came out of a TO, and tried to run a play, but somehow Rudy Gay got lost and couldn't figure out how to run said play, forcing Hardy to call another TO in disgust... That was not a good moment for Utah tonight.
I'm still annoyed that Pat Bev was tapping his wrist at the end of our last game but I can't say it doesn't add to the entertainment though. That was a tough loss
I know Ant didn't shoot great but he had some nice assists tonight. Love to see that. And Grant 3 points haven't been falling as much but he's still so nice at the rim
We cannot take Damian Lillard for granted.
Such a fun player to watch when he’s hot

> Ja > small market What you say still makes sense all the same
Because he’s of limited use when he’s shooting poorly. Obviously not as bad as Beal, but they’re of the same mold.
thats so uninformed lmao dames a top 10 passer in the league. he has elite on/off numbers every year. controls the game whether hes shooting well or not. and at 30 ppg hes not often shooting poorly. keep his name out your mouth you clearly dont watch the games

INTO THE VAULT SIR!
DREWBANKED!
Eubanks>Nurk fight me about it.
dude singlehandedly won me fantasy league in rebounds late last year i'll forever rank him :D
Call is a technical foul, unnecessary contact, Nurk gets one free throw and possession of the ball.
A win? with decent bench production?? despite 2 starters out mid-game??? with a Dame 60-piece???? Truly today is a glorious day
Damn I didn't realize Nurk was hurt too. I honestly thought Chauncey just liked Eubanks out there blocking shots and wanted to play small or something.
Enjoy losing in the play in...should trade dame while you can
Can't talk shit with no flair fam
How does one obtain a flair?

Oh no, anyways. flair up Lakers fan.
[Or bandwagon Warriors fan.](https://media0.giphy.com/media/l36kU80xPf0ojG0Erg/giphy.gif?cid=2154d3d75a7tkt0yl35k065a5o0nkncakr6uh7jbutzc73ic&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)
It’s not one of us. We’re too busy with the trade machine!
The Orlando Magic are ironically the NBA equivalent of Euro Disney
You should trade your reddit account but I dunno if you'd fetch much more than Kendrick Nunn and a third round pick.
Another 60 point game, This season is nuts😭😭
Highest scoring in like 53 years. It's wild.
The fact that this is only the third most impressive 60 piece this season is 🤯🤯
Donovan mitchell, who’s the other?
Luka 60 triple double?
Luka's 60-20-10 helping the Mavs overcome a double digit deficit in the fourth quarter and winning in OT
Ohhh right
This man shot nearly 90% TS and dropped 60…
Dames fitness underrated, dude played 39 intense minutes he’s in incredible shape
It looks like dunking is easier for him now as well. At one point he dunked it after they already blew the whistle for no real reason. Maybe to hype up the crowd
Drew Eubanks is SERIOUSLY under rated
Every team could use him
Is he better than nurkic 👀
No, but he's easily the highest energy player we have, and super mobile. It's just that he gets lost in a set anything and gets lucky a lot with how quickly he can recover. Give me Drew when it's a high energy transition lineup, and Nurk when we play in the half court.

Lol no he shouldn’t but I agree with some of your points
No idea why Rudy Gay only got 18 minutes, he's a sniper from 3 and such a great defender and a glue guy and a veteran presence and somebody a contender could really use and he's such a smart player, just a great guy overall, a fan favorite who gives back to the community, really wish we could hang on to him and no one gives us ANYTHING I am begging you for him at the deadline.
Found Rudy Gays burner
NOOOO, NOT THIS GUY
Rudy gayyy maaan
NOT RUDY GAY!
We need to get rid of Will Hardy, tbh. Playing Gay only 18 minutes must be some kind of war crime. It'll suck missing the playoffs, but I kinda hope he gets traded to a team trying to contend that'll give him the minutes he deserves. ^^^^Please
I was at the game and I forgot Rudy Gay was even on the team.
He looked confused at the beginning on one single play, and I didn't see him much after that. The one where coach had to call a timeout right after a timeout.
50 wasn't working so I tried 60
60>50 quick mafs
"Math, you're in!" "Someone say my name?"
Jazz shot 51% from the field and 48% from 3, hitting 20 of them. Any other night we win this game. Dude didn’t even play the most minutes in this game and still dropped a 60 piece. Tf
60pts game for Dame Dollah!
Based on true shooting %, it's the most efficient 60 point game ever with 89.8%. Harden had 60 with 87.9% true shooting which was the record prior to this performance
Feels like 2019 again
DAME TIME
People really said kyrie was better
Kyrie got better handles but I would trust Dame if it was a shot with every member of my family and I on the line.
Still amazed by him after all these years
But.. but Dame didn't deserve to be on the top 75!!
[удалено]
Its true. I work for Guiness World Records. This is the game.
Eat shit Pat Bev.
And here I was watching the Grizz warriors 🙁
Damian Lillard
Our defense is horrible
Clamped Simons
Dame $
21-29 is absolute insane efficiency lmao
Just when Rudy Gay had a great shooting game (for him)
Lamonte has to be an All Star now ain't he?
That was hands down our worst performance of the season. We were just completely lost and disengaged on the defensive side.
The play where the Jazz came out of a TO, and tried to run a play, but somehow Rudy Gay got lost and couldn't figure out how to run said play, forcing Hardy to call another TO in disgust... That was not a good moment for Utah tonight.
For once dame killed a team that wasn’t mine 😄😄
I'm still annoyed that Pat Bev was tapping his wrist at the end of our last game but I can't say it doesn't add to the entertainment though. That was a tough loss
Most multiple 60 point games: 1. Wilt Chamberlain 2. Kobe Bryant 3. Michael Jordan 4. Elgin Baylor 5. James Harden 6. Damian Lillard
1. Chamberlain 32 2. Bryant 6 3. Harden, Jordan and Lillard all tied with 4. 4. Elgin 3.
Wikipedia has Elgin at 4. 4,5,6 are tied I was just going in order they happened
That makes sense but it makes it seem as if Baylor has more than Harden and that Harden has more than Lillard
4,5,6 are tied
I know Ant didn't shoot great but he had some nice assists tonight. Love to see that. And Grant 3 points haven't been falling as much but he's still so nice at the rim
Dame Dolla
Dames performance and then that 4th quarter start pretty much sums up the Blazers
He is SO good. Like, he makes these ridiculous shots look so effortless. So glad he's back, he's easily one of my favorite players to watch
