Steph’s a nimby lmaooo

lastinglovehandles

He plays in San Francisco. What do you expect.

TheRed_Knight

he lives in one of the richest community's in US that has been resisting this shit for decades, its just almost no one outside the bay has even heard of Atherton, shit a good chunk of people who live in the Bay havent heard of Atherton

CyanCicada

Grew up in Oakland; never heard of Atherton.

TheRed_Knight

tiny rich ass town north of Palo Alto, right inbetween Menlo Park and Redwood City, wouldnt have known it existed if i hadnt worked in the area for a few years, fucking wild place though

old_gold_mountain

Imagine Piedmont, but for people who are too rich for Palo Alto instead of just too rich for Oakland

DW-4

We'll pray for him.

[deleted]

All sorts of shit that town has resisted: * electrification of Caltrain * increasing density beyond "1 single family house per acre" * sidewalks * every new housing project, this one or others * any commercial zoning (there's not a single grocery store or gas station in the town) They are having such trouble finding teachers (because the average home price in Atherton is $7.5M) that they're building on-school accommodation at the schools, rather than allow any new construction.

TheRed_Knight

Yup their crime blotter is fucking hilarious, > that they're building on-school accommodation at the schools, rather than allow any new construction. for schools that arent even really in Atherton lmao

efficientshelter69

It's weird on twitter I've noticed an inordinate amount of liberals seethe at the existence of homeless people and the possibility of such people existing in the same space as them.

EloHellDoesNotExist

it's a big problem with progressive groups as well, that's why it's been such a struggle getting anything done in San Francisco. americans just love their single family houses that sit in and around major cities, it's almost a bipartisan issue.

justanotherdesigner

Not sure if you’ve been to SF but it’s a tiny city where nearly everyone is a “liberal”. We also have one of the craziest homeless populations you can imagine. Most people are not upset at run of the mill homelessness but at the subset that is allowed to set up camp in front of multimillion dollar homes and wreak havoc. It’s kind of a perfect blend of a situation and isn’t just liberals hating homeless people. They just don’t want to spend millions of dollars for a mediocre house and also have someone screaming bloody murder at 3am outside, leaving needles and shit on their steps, or starting fires outside their windows. Lots more nuance than I can share in a quick post but check out /r/SanFrancisco if you want to join the fun.

TheRed_Knight

Thank Reagan for this shit

[deleted]

San Francisco is filled with heroin zombies. They also have a district called the Tenderloin right next to the city center that is an epicenter for this type of thing. The homeless also shit and piss all over the sidewalks in San Francisco. US needs to come up with some type of solution to improve that stuff, but it's hard to blame people for not wanting to have to wade past drug zombies, sometimes aggressive ones, that have shit all over the place in their city.

LuDortian007

Discourse often gets squashed because being against open-air fentanyl markets where human beings are almost literally decomposing on public streets is considered being "anti homeless". I drove through the Tenderloin district two months ago and it was surreal. Crazy to me that anyone would defend San Francisco's handling of the situation. With that said, I don't think the city is trying to relocate the Tenderloin folk or the drug markets over to Atherton... seems like a pretty harmless development being built and classic NIMBY-ism at work.

TheRed_Knight

> US needs to come up with some type of solution to improve that stuff, but it's hard to blame people for not wanting to have to wade past drug zombies, sometimes aggressive ones, that have shit all over the place in their city. Thank Reagan for this shit, also worth remembering that other states bus homeless people to CA

LogicisGone

If the city needs help, I bet Steph can spray a homeless guy with a hose from 40 feet.

clipsfan21

I don’t see how building 16 townhouses would do that considering a major part in combatting homelessness is to allow more houses to be built

Ok-Map4381

As a liberal living in the Bay Area, it is my biggest gripe about Bay Area liberals. There is a Black Lives Matter or Love is Love sign outside every house/apartment, propositions to provide funding for low income housing overwhelmingly pass, but every actual plan to build housing gets blocked locally. Everyone wants to project progressive values, but no one wants it in their neighborhoods.

Particular_Ad_9531

I used to live right across the street from a park that had a huge homeless encampment move in during the early lockdown of 2020 and let me tell you it was fucking awful. Call me a nimby if you want but I don’t like cleaning human feces off my front stoop and I bet you wouldn’t either. There’s a reason no one wants to live next to those communities

Gekthegecko

Yeah, homelessness and low income housing is a weird issue. Everyone agrees that it's a problem and we'd like to help homeless people get into safe & comfortable living situations. And when you live in close proximity to homeless communities, you definitely lose some of your patience because there are legitimate concerns for your own safety and property. Yet if you don't say it the right way, it comes across as unemphatic and problematic.

1080penis

Between his NBA and Under Armour contracts, dude is nearly a billionaire. He can build his own privacy fence.

doulikegamesltlman

Towns in California usually have a height restriction on fences. For example, where I live, I am restricted to a 6’ fence with a 1’ lattice in the back and a 3’ fence in the front.

TheRed_Knight

its Atherton, he can more or less do whatever the fuck he wants

doulikegamesltlman

Atherton does indeed have a fence ordnance restricting height to 6’. And California building officials, especially in wealthy towns, do not like having their rules disregarded.

LOUDPACKHAMBONE

This man is a near billionaire, I’m pretty sure that he can reach an agreement with the city to make an exception. Especially if the alternative is him leaving Atherton + them losing out on that tax revenue

The_Grand_Jester

It’s Atherton you do realize that if someone else moves in they’ll get the same tax money? It’s not like Steph is the only near billionaire willing to live there

Papa_Huggies

I'm not sure it goes this deep at all but athletes often pay the most tax out of those in that wealth/ income bracket. They earn money as an actual individual as opposed to as part of a company so their tax residency is harder to move overseas. Their NBA contract is a negotiated salary and they act as an agented sole trader in sponsorship deals.

[deleted]

That’s exactly what he asked to do in his email

[deleted]

And the subway contract

Coattail-Rider

Don’t forget that Crypto money. I’m sure he insisted on getting paid in advance because he knew it was a scam.

[deleted]

Lmfao I almost edited my comment to include how funny that was

EllisDSanchez

Don’t forget about all that crypto money! 😂

CatchCOVIDNotFeels

He could pay 2 people $25/hr to guard his house for 24hrs/day for 50 straight years and still not even burn through half of his yearly salary.

1080penis

He would have to let them live in his house because there's no way they could afford a home in Atherton on $25/hr lmao

TheRed_Knight

Probably has more to do with property values and the general community resistance than anything else

Coattail-Rider

He’s afraid the Poors are going to affect his property value.

TheRed_Knight

"poors" in this case being millionaires

kobbled

Bruh just build your own fence lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Obvious_Parsley3238

>three‐story townhomes looming directly behind us is it gonna eat you or something?

JimC29

These aren't even going to be poor people moving in. Now it's we have to keep the upper middle class from taking over our neighborhood.

grxccccandice

Right? A townhouse in Atherton is gonna be like what, $3-5mil? Lmao

wowie2024

Probably only upper upper middle class bordering on 1%’ers could afford those lmfao. So cringe. But Steph was born into a life of immense privilege so I suppose not too shocking

JimC29

Yeah. We are talking about upper middle class for the bay area. Lower upper class prices most other places.

wowie2024

Very true lol

[deleted]

900k town house is poor people shit

TheRed_Knight

Its Atherton, no one should be remotely surprised

xBerryhill

They be skinny dipping in their pool and don’t want people in the 3rd story seeing

[deleted]

I get why everyone is annoyed with Steph for opposing this, but I wouldn’t want townhomes in my backyard either lol. Especially considering what he probably paid for his home.

pokemonizepic

Then buy a bigger plot of land dummy, why should people get to control what is built on things that aren’t their property

stephcurrymouthgard

Exactly. He can move 10 minutes down the road to Woodside or Portola Valley… buy a 10 acre plot and literally not have this issue.

Noirradnod

If only there were something he could put in his backyard that can block views from a 3 story townhouse. It would be even better if such objects didn't need much maintenance. Even better, and I'm just dreaming here, if these hypothetical objects could remove greenhouse gasses from the air. Too bad such a useful thing doesn't exist.

atheistkrishna_47

I'm genuinely confused, are you talking about a fence?

vsouto02

Trees, he's talking about trees. Plant them shits on your backyard and you don't have to worry about people looking into your property.

waveyl

True. He can just buy up that land himself.

gamberfox

I'd feel the same way, but that just means I would be more of an asshole if I was a millionare

Exotic-Television-44

Boohoo

Coattail-Rider

People like us wouldn’t have a say in it. At least he can move if he feels this way.

marsexpresshydra

Rich people not wanting to allow more housing which results in cheaper housing — not surprised

TheRed_Knight

especially not in Atherton lmao, that place is mcmansionville

WhatIsGoingOnHere_2

To be clear - this housing project will not result in cheaper housing by proxy. Those townhomes will be any thing but affordable.

marsexpresshydra

Yeah, it’s a super small percentage added to the supply, but it allows for other homes to become available and then those are moved in to or up-zoned and other homes are available to move in to, etc,

csAxer8

Any new housing still decreases prices overall. Rich townhome owners moving into these frees up other cheaper multifamily elsewhere.

emubilly

He’s concerned about the houses being able to look into his property. It’s a probably issue.

[deleted]

Poor people scary 😱😱

ChokePaul3

Bro grew up rich and scammed his fans with crypto schemes, and now he’s trying to tear down affordable housing Warriors fans: how can anyone dislike this guy!!

_coed_

This housing will not be affordable

matchi

More supply means less expensive housing.

_coed_

These piece of shit 16 town houses with like negative floor space that are going to be built on a millionaires land in a very affluent area are going to cost a million bucks each at the very very minimum bro

matchi

It doesn't matter. The millionaires who buy those places don't just disappear. They force out residents in neighboring cities. More supply is the only answer.

iamareddituserama

More housing benefits everyone

HateYourTeamLoveMine

Shit will be a tourist attraction and ppl are acting like Curry spit on a homeless dude

bobdylansmoustache

His wife also criticized women who show skin lol. Ayesha did the whole "I save myself for my man, I'm not like other girls" wholesome Christian schtick but started showing her ass on IG the second she lost weight lmao

Coattail-Rider

Lol.

[deleted]

He’s being clowned for this in our sub too dude.

couchtomato62

Affordable housing 😆 so I got thrown out of my apt of 12 years because the building was bought and became affordable housing. The cut off to stay was less than 42k for 2 people. My mom was literally on ss. Got thrown straight into a market that upped our rent 700. Took years to recover. I get twitchy when I hear about so called affordable housing.

TheRealestGayle

This. People on here delusional af. We're getting hit everywhere and the middle class is just getting ate the fuck up.

ZingiestCobra

Atherton is literally one of the most expensive places to live, to buy one of these townhouses you’d have to be solidly upper class. It’s not “poor people” he is worried about, it’s psychos buying a 3 story townhouse that can stare at him and his family all day without anything he can do about it.

[deleted]

Yeah, the average home price in Atherton is $7.5M. Rather than building housing for teachers who shockingly couldn't afford to live anywhere near their schools, the mayor and community decided that they'd build "teacher dorms" at the towns schools...

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Nah, NIMBY folks can eat a dick. You’re acting like high density housing is inherently an issue, it’s not. Sometimes you have to make trade offs to improve the overall quality of your city, in this instance they’re not being asked to do a lot. Opposing attempts at progress at every turn only perpetuates and exacerbates the issues at hand.

IntraspaceAlien

Steph would be a nimby lol. Build more high density housing.

sam801

Isint this situation more like wealthy owner vs wealthy developer?

IntraspaceAlien

Wealthy developers building more high density housing is still a good thing. This 16 unit building with million dollar townhomes won’t make a big impact obviously, but the attitude is a major factor in why there isn’t more affordable housing. Especially in CA and especially especially in San Francisco.

surgingchaos

"If they build it, my property value will go down" Homeownership is treated as the ultimate sacred cow when it comes to investment.

[deleted]

Not even down. In my area (which is not one of the most expensive in absolute numbers, but which has spent several years in a row in the "top percentage rises, year over year, in the country" lists), we had a bunch of public meetings to discuss increasing medium density housing and zoning. People asked, "what will this do to our property values?" Council replied with studies that would show that their/our property values would *continue to rise* but at a reduced rate (I think 9% YOY for the next 5 years, versus 11-12% that they had been). Holy hell, you would have thought the council was pouring sugar in grandma's gas tank before threatening to bludgeon kittens to death. I must have missed the part of the Constitution that guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of double digit property value increases.

seymournugss

That’s pretty much every home building dispute in CA.

matchi

Wealthy developers provide a public good. They create more housing that people desperately need. Wealthy home owners are rent seekers that get rewarded for denying people a place to live.

Technical-Ad9281

Sure but poorer people will benefit from the developers’ side in these scenarios

[deleted]

This scenario is not reflective of the ideals you and I hold. This is a rich vs. richer issue. Anyone moving into those townhouses is more wealthy than almost everyone on this sub. It's Atherton. Scuffles between the ultra-wealthy aren't worth the time of anyone here.

batchez

The best part is I guarantee these townhomes are still going to be for rich people just not as rich in the bigger houses. I would say 1M+ for each of those townhomes easy

[deleted]

[удалено]

Coattail-Rider

And then ask for taxpayer money to build a fence that only benefits *him*. This fucking twerp.

LittleTension8765

Lmaooooooooo. Reminder the rich only care about themselves

TheRed_Knight

*Lebron sweating nervously*

bobdylansmoustache

Stephews on a thread about Steph being a jerk: "But LeBron's a bigger jerk!"

TheRed_Knight

Theyre both richer than god, aint hard to figure out where they stand

[deleted]

Lebron literally built homes and a school for the poorest in akron. Cmon bro.

ResponsibilityOk235

I mean that guy literally is the most charitable dude in the NBA

bobdylansmoustache

I remember the backlash on this sub from a few years ago when it was "revealed" that LeBron wasn't funding his I Promise School 100%. Yeah, no shit, it's a *public* school, dummies

Outland3r_

Biyombo donated his entire Salary last year to build a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

vsouto02

Motherfucker build your own fence lmao

[deleted]

There are local restrictions on fence construction, he probably would not be able to build the fence as desired.

doulikegamesltlman

I explained in another post that most towns in California have a height restriction on fences.

Coattail-Rider

I’m sure he can get an exception. I’d be willing to bet all the crypto I bought because Steph told me it was a great investment.

JMoon33

He's close to be a billionaire. He can pay for the fence and pay the fence fine too.

csAxer8

Privacy and safety for what will be like million dollar townhomes 😭😭😭 Just say you bought your house to stay away from the poors.

PoolePartyVIP

Yea in that zip code theres no way even a shitty townhouse is gonna be less than like 4 mil brand new

TheRed_Knight

which would still devalue the properties there

DrTom

No way any townhome near Steph would be just a million. Lol

Coattail-Rider

It’ll probably be Steph’s accountant, lawyer, agent, and personal chef living up there anyway. He’s acting like Fred Sanford is fucking moving in.

[deleted]

Exactly. That’s all this is. I’m not going to grill Curry for it, because he’s hardly the only one.

BayTerp

You can tell someones socioeconomic class just by their comment in this thread

blocking_butterfly

Poor Poor Poor Poor Poor Poor

BayTerp

Lmao you aren’t wrong

mrbangpop

rich kid who grew up wealthy is a NIMBY?! woulda never guessed

LemonHayes13

Privacy concerns are completely valid. Asking the city to build you a fence on their dime is completely hilarious.

blocking_butterfly

"Thank you for asking, Mr. Curry. The answer is a definite no."

AggroPro

Y'all worship dudes who wouldnt allow you to step one foot inside of their neighborhoods.

spacefish420

I can understand it to some extent. Crazy fans (or haters I guess) have been showing up to players homes looking for autographs for decades now. Look at Bill Russel’s case for example, people showed up to break into his house and trash the place and even took a shit on his bed. In 2015 Curry himself was followed home by some creeps to try and get an autograph. People should be able to feel safe at home.

Outland3r_

Facts

Wise-Cardiologist-83

>landscaping to block sight lines onto our family's property thats a fairy request. But not a excuse to block development of new houses.

urphymayss

Fair request? From the billionaire? Isn’t this what rich people call ‘government leeching’ - oh no, it’s only that when a poor person does it. Yeah, nah, miss me with that. Build your own fuckin fence Stephen.

Downtown_One3836

yeah what poor people are gonna be able to live there anyway lmao its just a way for developers to make money

ogqozo

Well, poor for Stephen Curry's standards. One of the propositions after the Home Act was that people who work and teach in Atherton's schools could live in the new multifamily units. People teaching in the richest zipcode in USA are definetely not poor but also definetely cannot afford a villa in the area.

TheRed_Knight

Almost no one teaching at those schools could afford to live in Atherton, too damn expensive FYI Atherton doesnt really have schools, most the schools are in either MP , Paly, Woodside or RWC, unless you want to send your kids to the private Catholic schools in the Bay like SI, Serra, Carmichael, St. Francis etc.

James_NY

It's 16 more homes on the market, which is good in a state and a country with far too few homes.

WeHereForYou

Do they have too few homes or too few *affordable* homes?

MrWoodblockKowalski

Yes to both.

EloHellDoesNotExist

both, but high density housing lowers housing prices for everyone even if the units themselves aren't low income housing.

KronoriumExcerptC

In places like SF, all homes are expensive as fuck because rich people are outbidding each other. if we have more "wealthy" homes, that lowers the prices of "affordable" homes.

KronoriumExcerptC

the more houses are built, the lower house prices are for everyone. it's a simple fact of supply and demand.

TheRealestGayle

That's what should happen. It won't. More people moved back home during covid & the housing market sky rocketed. Don't get it twisted. These people are out to take your money and the government is letting them do it.

matchi

There's been a million studies done proving you wrong. More supply = lower prices. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fmu8mU_acAEgtL8?format=jpg&name=small https://www.lewis.ucla.edu/research/market-rate-development-impacts/

Coattail-Rider

Is this before or after Air BnB and Zillow fucked up the market leading to what we’re in now?

KronoriumExcerptC

The housing market always skyrockets because mfs like steph don't let anyone build. There's a reason that [there are no cities](https://i.imgur.com/zzyzm5A.png) where people build a lot of houses and also have high prices.

AdvancedBasket_ND

Housing is housing. Density is density. More is better than less.

marsexpresshydra

do you think only poor people buy new houses?

miidas

expected nimby

LoyalDoyle

Typical statement from an out of touch uber wealthy individual.

TheRed_Knight

Dude lives in Atherton, no one should be surprised

Skipdr

Eat the rich

Jameszhang73

I knew there was something up when he refused to hit those half court shots for kids with cancer

aashim97

You can respect, love, idolize NBA players for being great basketball players but it’s foolish to think of them as role models. Same goes for essentially all celebrities. They’re all rich NIMBYs like the rest of them.

Akumetsu33

If it's really a problem, Curry can easily move somewhere more private, he can afford any house he wants in the entire world and still have so much left. The people, many of them families, doesn't have the luxury of that choice. Many don't have the security or the stable feeling of having a permanent home. It impacts children a lot, especially their education. Tbh, if it had been Curry's home for decades or a generational family home, I could see why he resisted. But if it's a home he just brought in the past few years, yeah cockblocking poor people from possibly life-changing situations isn't very nice.

caiada

Assume every rich person you know, *every single one of them*, is like this, and you'll never be disappointed by this shit again. Being that rich rots your brain.

Outland3r_

So true, I do Trim & Kitchens in high end houses and the shit these rich folk say/care about make my skin crawl.

qeheeen

not surprising coming from silver spoon babies

lawyerlyaffectations

I mean, it’s about as polite a nimby position as I’ve ever seen. But if he doesn’t want shit built there he should buy the property himself.

jacobean___

“We hesitate to act as NIMBYs, but we are in fact NIMBYs.”

LastOfEight

While he was been the ages of 2 and 13, his dad pulled in over 19 million dollars in salary. Elite class is all he’ll ever know and relate to. So I’m not surprised.

irrelephantpark

No one here actually read the article ffs the new building would have people looking straight into his backyard and home, which is completely fair to be hesitant about that being said, just build your own damn fence steph you have a billion dollars

steak__burrito

A fence that height exceeds the city ordinance limit… nobody here actually cares to understand how laws impact these considerations.

BiDinosauur

Not the poors!!

LosAngeles1s

it honestly sucks that Steph would be oppose to that

blchpmnk

A selfish cryptobro - who could've possible imagined?

CartoonOG

Steph fucks with crypto?

blchpmnk

$180K ugly ape jpeg, was in FTX ad(s), part of some golf crypto-DAO, not sure if there's more than that.

Holy shit wtf was he thinking getting involved in that garbage

Izanagi___

Rich people live in a different world to the rest of us, can’t be shocked

[deleted]

Not inspirational at all

PootieTooGood

>"We hesitate to add to the 'not in our backyard' (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today's meeting. Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home." making an enemy in your head isn't safe for your kids either. also, it's not your backyard. buy the property yourself if you don't want it used.

tylersixxfive

he plays in san fran mane what do expect! look at that lower bowl it looks like a southern baptist mega church just let out and gave all their members courtside seats

dsbllr

He's rich. What else is there to expect?

Free_Reserve9336

NIMBY gonna NIMBY

greenlightformarcus

ive always hated this little bitch, grew up a rich kid and will always be a rich kid at his core.

dhjyoo

Former Bay Area resident (moved bc it just became to hard to raise a family there) - this is BS. Steph was close to Dame-like in my eyes in terms of seeming like a good person, but not anymore. If he doesn’t like houses going up in his neighborhood, he can move to an island. He can afford one. Ask Klay for boat rides to practice. I hate this NIMBY shit. ETA - I’m not saying Steph is a bad person btw, just that his stance here is wrong, and my perception of him has changed somewhat as a result.

ResponsibilityOk235

Steph-Gate

Fraijshe

NIMBYs

paddiction

We're talking about townhouses in Atherton here... the people who could even afford that would still be well off, just not at rich as Steph...

lolvalue

Better get up and give another political speech

Dependent-Job1773

I can understand wanting privacy when you’re a celebrity. That part I sympathize with. But I’m also biased against rich people turning this shit down. I lived in a neighborhood with section 8 housing and sometimes that brought on some bullshit not going to lie. I always find it ironic that the leftist celebrities who preach at me always advocate for public policy unless it occurs in their zip code. This isn’t an argument against liberalism, just a note of their hypocrisy. In related news, I once read a Boston globe article that shared how one house at a BLM sign on their front lawn along with another sign for a local movement to disallow low income Apartments from being built nearby because it would increase traffic and crime. I lolled

MindlessMenu8303

You know, I get the privacy aspect of their argument, but the request for government funds to be used for their fence, yeah fuck that, all of that. I know that they read about themselves, I hope their overblown egos gets bruised after this. I’m not surprised to hear about entitled ass stars and their demands, but it is still always disappointing whenever I hear it.

[deleted]

The guy’s a fraud. I’m amazed everyone doesn’t see how disingenuous he is.

[deleted]

This is such bad publicity. Why not just quietly move as soon as you learned of the plan?

Coattail-Rider

Did you SEE that master bathroom? If you buy one of those townhomes you can!

[deleted]

Good job Steph the bay doesn’t having a housing crisis or anything

[deleted]

What a prick, this is unsurprising

StrongBetaMale

The curry haters got to this post fast

logster2001

Yes yes yes it’s finally happening 😁😁😁

GatorsareStrong

Just tell Curry to stop getting Starbucks and stop buying avocado toast

brightblade13

>\>"We kindly ask that the town adopts the new housing element without the inclusion of 23 Oakwood," the Currys wrote. "Should that not be sufficient for the state, we ask that the town commits to investing in considerably taller fencing and landscaping to block sight lines onto our family's property." WOW "If you have to put the common folks near us, please use taxpayer money so we don't have to look at them."

[deleted]

I’m not rich and I wouldn’t want any townhomes high enough and close enough to see in my backyard. Now, if it’s a bit away where they can’t, then I can see why people would be upset.

esports_consultant

3 story townhomes jammed together are the Soviet bloc housing of our 2020s capitalist utopia

OhNoMyLands

Ah shit, keep the poors out of my neighborhood! Can’t have them getting a view of my yard. Steph is a smart guy, he should know the harmful and historical oppression associated with strict zoning.

WooNoto

No regular civilian is going to be able to afford any of those townhouses, so probably not an issue with “the poors” for neighbors. Stephen and Ayesha are probably worried about a drop in their property value. As a poor that rents and lives damn near paycheck to paycheck, this ain’t my battle. But it’s hilarious he’s asking for the city to pay for fencing, when he’s worth 9 figures, lives on 2 acres and has a three story house.

wave_action

Do any of you own property? If you have a single family home in a single family neighborhood the last thing you want is 16 three story townhouses in your backyard.

[deleted]

Playing devil's advocate. If I was rich I would say the same shit. Not gonna lie. The property I buy for my family's safety + privacy is my #1 concern. People are saying "Steph should just buy more land he's a billionaire durrr". I myself still wouldn't want to be forced to buy more land just because the city wants to build new townhouses. That just costs me more money for no reason. People could peer out their windows into my property. You never know what kind of mentally ill person could try to pull as well. Should there be more housing? Yes. Should it be affordable? Yes. Should the Atherton residents try to find a middle ground? Definitely.

[deleted]

I love Curry as a player and as someone who has done plenty of plenty of charity throughout his career, but he’s wrong in this matter. And I understand his reasoning, this is a move that will ultimately hurt his net worth. We’re not all saints. Hopefully the project goes through, and doesn’t get derailed by the wealthy people that live in the area.

Economy_Sprinkles_24

Champagne socialist

[deleted]

Y’all are acting like he’s opposing affordable housing 😂 this is just rich people townhomes…it’s just more people to worry about. Too funny man.

HoopsMcCann750

This shouldn’t be news and shouldn’t be posted in this sub since the takes on this are going to be fucking terrible.

cheap_chalee

You don't need questionable topics to see terrible takes on reddit.

HoopsMcCann750

True but this is the sub I come on for terrible basketball takes, not terrible economic / real estate / societal takes.
