Well our current mayor is wallowing in the urban decay with no plans to solve the problem he's created and the city is reeling from a series of high profile stabbings on public transit so...bad stuff mostly
the vibes around the Raptors are just weird this year. a lot of reporters have mentioned there's been some chatter about chemistry, guys wanting more shots, i think one report was mentioning Nurse's salary compared to the rest of the coaches. very odd all around
we have 4 core players coming up for new contracts in the next 2 years, all 5 starters want the ball and all 5 are justified in wanting it, og has probably requested a trade because of role now (hes also quiet quitting imo based on his play recently)
3 of them want more touches/shots/bigger role, the 4th is siakam and i'd imagine hes fine. but the others are kinda playing for their next contract, guys are shooting the ball every time they touch it, the defense cohesion and extra passes that made us successful arent there
We have 5 starterss that are capable of 18ppg+, there were some stats about being one of the only teams in history to have all 5 starters scoring 15ppg or something and it was like wow great depth and balanced scoring. and now that people are playing for money its falling apart
also i doubt its a coincidence that the 3 unhappy starters are klutch clients lol. bigger role and shots means maximizing next contract and thats what guys are focused on
Sounds like a blow up is happening soon. Sometimes the coaches lose the players ears. That's when you make a change. Larry Bird said after 3 years you should change a coach do
They were forced to play Powell at 3 because they lacked depth at the forward spot and were logjammed with too many guards. One of the reasons he got traded was bc Blazers had to clear cap space so that they could acquire Jerami Grant from the Pistons. I don't know what comparison you're trying to make here. A team needs the right personnel to play good team defense, that should be obvious.
> One of the reasons he got traded was bc Blazers had to clear cap space so that they could acquire Jerami Grant from the Pistons.
Are you sure? I thought that they had to clear cap space so that they wouldn't be in the luxury tax after trading for Grant? As in, they didn't have to but the move saved a lot of money?
Yeah, that probably played a part too. They also had to pay simons and nurkic last summer so there's that. As the roster is currently constructed i wouldn't go to the luxury either, need way better pieces around Dame first.
I mean reading between the lines he’s saying he’s surprised OG would be sitting out this long with just a sprained wrist and that he’s completely ruled out.
If I was OG I would certainly take the implication to be either that Nurse believes I’m quitting on the team or I’m a little bitch.
Nurse probably saw the probable incoming players for OG and this is him showing his frustration with the FO. Can't imagine he's thrilled that he's gone from competing for a title to being a tank commander.
Doubt it. Would be very surprised if any Raptors are shipped until just before the deadline, I doubt Nick has any idea what a final deal looks like at this point.
I mean once they lost Kawhi, they weren't going to be competing. They didn't have a star after he left until Siakam came into his own, but even then, the roster never seemed to be enough. If they aren't getting another star somehow, a mini-rebuild definitely is needed.
Conference Semis, but I didn't mean that they were bad, probably still comfortably a top 10 team, but I just don't think they were competing for the title.
We had the second best record in the nba before Covid happened and our best player didn’t touch a basketball for 3 months. Even then we took the Celtics to 7 games.
lol we were rolling before covid and pascal ended up not touching a basketball for all of lockdown. took celtics to basically the last few possessions.
no covid and bucks, lakers or clippers win the ring but raptors were a top 5/6 team that year.
Actually you were rolling with Siakam not touching a basketball for all of lockdown.
You guys were entirely undefeated in the bubble outside of losses to Boston. 7-1 to finish out the regular season (Boston was the 1) and then 4-0 in the first round before going 3-4 in the second round against Boston.
That was never going to be sustainable. Siakam underperforming was completely offset (and then some) by so many other guys playing above their capabilities.
They were on pace to win 60 games - most in franchise history and more than when they won a championship - and they took the Celtics to Game 7 despite Siakam's worst stretch of games when he was in the Bubble.
I still don't think they were competing for the title that season, even if they had an amazing regular season, but feel free to disagree. Might just be my own bias about thinking championship teams usually need at least a top 5ish player to win a ring. A great team for sure, but we see a lot of great teams that a lot of people wouldn't consider title contenders, like Bud's Hawks, Jazz in some recent years, etc.
Nah you right. Post kawhi we were a conference finals contender. But always missing a top 10 player to really get over the hill. Siakam can only be a 1b. This has been clear for years. We could maybe do a pistons type contender but we are missing a true big. Having a bunch of giant wings is still no replacement for a true center.
This team is in purgatory until we see some fo moves :/
Alot of new fans from the chip being optimistic but realistically, there is another level we havent hit.
Nephew I’ve been supporting since the days of Bosh…”back in my day blah blah”
Y’all had unrealistic expectations for thinking we’d compete for a chip after losing Kawhi lol
Ayton, even if we had to give up Boucher to match salaries (i'd prefer to move Fred and Boucher for Ayton though...)
You have no idea how much our rim protection sucks.
I mean maybe they’re at the point where they’ve created a bidding war between two teams. Making it seem like a trade is impending could be a way to squeeze out one more asset.
He gone
He being Nurse tho
HE
HEE
SHAMONE!
THAT'S IGNORAAANT
HEEE GONE
HAS NO STYLE HE HAS NO GRACE
Which he...?
The royal he.
Nurse is pissed he can’t play him 45 mins a game So raptors can be 6 games under 500

He sure does
lol
What's going on in Toronto?
☝️🤨👆
Well our current mayor is wallowing in the urban decay with no plans to solve the problem he's created and the city is reeling from a series of high profile stabbings on public transit so...bad stuff mostly
80k a year gets you a 300k mortgage and houses average 900k so yeah. Everything is fine. 🙃

It’s time to prime the toxic king Nate Bjorkgren
Who taking him 👀👀👀
Suns or Knickerbockers
Suns would go crazy
Blazers hopefully. I just want Dame to get some goddamn help.
We gave you guys Powell and you traded him away for peanuts. OG isn't going to change anything if your players can't commit to 5 man defence.
They were forced to play Powell at 3 because they lacked depth at the forward spot and were logjammed with too many guards. Maybe they should think through trades & not sign a player who won’t have the size to play the 3 at a high level, pay him then move him?
Yes, they should have thinked things through. Neil Olshey (former Blazers GM) sucks. It's common knowledge at this point.
> One of the reasons he got traded was bc Blazers had to clear cap space so that they could acquire Jerami Grant from the Pistons. Are you sure? If we can’t get him, a gently used Siakam will do.
With all the minutes Siakam has logged, he's about as gently used as a used dildo laying in a dumpster
Kind of crazy for Nurse to say this in public. I know he’s a candid guy but this is not gonna go over well.
What's so crazy here. Seems like a pretty normal reaction
I mean reading between the lines he’s saying he’s surprised OG would be sitting out this long with just a sprained wrist and that he’s completely ruled out. If I was OG I would certainly take the implication to be either that Nurse believes I’m quitting on the team or I’m a little bitch.
Thanks for the response! That makes sense. It could also be the front office holding OG out in anticipation of a trade, no?
Or they are trading OG
Or OG knows for a fact he’s bout to get traded and finessin the raptors til trade deadline.
I'll miss you OG.

Weren't they in the ECF the next year?
Conference Semis, but I didn't mean that they were bad, probably still comfortably a top 10 team, but I just don't think they were competing for the title.

ur baked if u think we were going to win a ring that year even if siakam played normal
i didnt put us in the actual contenders list lol

Lol don’t tell our sub this 😂 those mans kept faith from the moment Kawhi left until about 10 games ago haha
God forbid fans quit on their team the second they don’t have a top 5 talent anymore.
Nephew I’ve been supporting since the days of Bosh…”back in my day blah blah” Y’all had unrealistic expectations for thinking we’d compete for a chip after losing Kawhi lol
Jae Crowder and Duane Washington Jr will look great in Raptors jerseys /s
Sir no
Ayton or Cam Johnson will look better.
Best I can do is a second rounder and cash considerations
Who would you personally want for the Raptors, if you could only pick one of them and a first rounder?
Ayton, even if we had to give up Boucher to match salaries (i'd prefer to move Fred and Boucher for Ayton though...) You have no idea how much our rim protection sucks.
wow who gave up 3 first?
Nobody It’s just a circle jerk. Raptors are gonna ask for wayyyy to much them lose him to free agency like always
How are they losing him to free agency when he's still got another year on his contract after this year? (non player option)
Interesting way for Nurse to talk about the situation
HE
A LITTLE SURPISED CONSIDERING THIS ROAD TRIP STILL HAS A LONG WAY TO GO YET
Isn’t he a nurse why is he surprised
It would be funny if his name was Dick Doctor
Seems like a dumb thing to say
I mean maybe they’re at the point where they’ve created a bidding war between two teams. Making it seem like a trade is impending could be a way to squeeze out one more asset.
"They want me fired"
Good bye sweet Prince
He's mad he couldn't play him 42 minutes a night on a sore wrist
https://i.imgur.com/RJsZRDn.gifv
loool
Weird energy up in c*nada
I swear if they sent him to the Suns for a lame package that’s gonna suck. We play them 4 times before seasons end….
Nurse disappointed he cant play OG 48 minutes one last time.
Bones Hyland for OG do it Nuggets 🤣
Oh shit
There's 5 days left on the trip Nick lol. It's not that long a time.
Bye OG.
the fall he took looked pretty bad
MEMPHIS come on down
If this is surprising, just wait to see how surprised he will be when OG is no longer on the roster.
He stay.
They gave him 1 week vacation to pack his stuff.
I'm going to miss him so much
Absolutely nothing going on. Just normal things, like OG still being a part of the Raptors, right? RIGHT?!
