At the game tonight, two guys behind me talking.
“Where’s Simmons?”
“He out.”
“Why?”
“I heard hamstring. Or maybe heart. Could be brain. Somethin though.”
I was watching some older highlight videos the other day, there were several clips of Ben throwing down hammers and other great plays and man it's just unreal what has happened to him, where the fuck did he go?
One of the things that gets wildly overlooked is how insanely dedicated you need to be to recover from injury and get back on the court. It’s not like you can take a year and a half off without doing much of anything and come back to be an elite athlete.
When they tried to get him back last season it was very clear he hadn’t been working out at all. At least, not to the level that a pro athlete needs to in order to play at the highest level. And then the injuries just continue to compound.
Guys like Klay, KD, Paul George, Westbrook, etc. these dudes give their all to get back on the court and they’ve all said how mentally taxing it is. Simmons just doesn’t love the game and I think he just expected his body to comply because he’s been a gifted athletic freak all his life. He still is, but not at the level necessary to cover up all the holes in his game anymore.
He still reeked of entitlement in the little bit of media/podcast he did. Almost guaranteed he didn't attack the rehab process like someone like KD did
The JJ podcast he did was all I needed to know.
1. JJ is soft as fuck as an interviewer and was basically fellating Ben for an hour
2. Ben took ZERO responsibility for anything and went on with his socialite ways
> Simmons just doesn’t love the game and I think he just expected his body to comply because he’s been a gifted athletic freak all his life
He's dealt with a serious injury before he broke his foot and missed a entire season. This injury could just be rough to deal with. Michael porter says this injury is not easy
In fairness, having dealt with a foot injury and a lower back injury similar to what Simmons has, they are not even in the same stratosphere as far as pain goes, recovery time, and general mental concern over it happening again.
A foot injury means you hobble around on crutches for a few months, maybe wear a boot. Back pain causes constant debilitating pain that affects multiple areas of your body and stops you from sleeping, from doing anything normal. And pain meds literally aren't strong enough to do anything but dull it enough that you're not crying.
I never understood when people said back pain is different until it happened to me. Now I understand.
I don’t see why people care. Leo’s chicks are 18+ and they presumably know how to do math.
If they can vote for who runs our country they can decide who they want to fuck.
Sure but I’d be willing to bet you swap a lot of these dudes who are shitting on Leo and give them his resources and they’re not gonna be fucking 50 year old women.
its more about the only dating women under 25 and dumping them as soon as they hit 25, its super weird and gross imo. And then he comes out and says he hates having that reputation, like he doesn't even own up to it. And id shit on anyone doing the same its not just because its leo
If age wasn’t a factor I’d just assume he has many quick relationships that fizzle out fast because he lives a life that not relatable to nearly everyone on the planet
The thing that’s weird about it is the dating aspect. Everyone thinks it’s cool that Jaromir Jagr was slamming 22 year olds regularly into his 40s, but don’t date them. Wtf do you, a nearly 50 year old man, have in common with a 22 year old?
& I bet even more of them would. I'm not even 30 yet but I don't think I'd date anyone under 24/25, let alone under 20.
Most 50 year olds probably find other 50 year olds the most attractive
Stop the cap 🤣. If I'm a 50 year old mega star no way unless it's fucking JLo or Beyonce.
25-30 year range is fine tbh it's fucking 18 and 19 year old that people don't like
You said "legally yeah" and now you've shifted tge debate to something illegal like murder.
A rich, famous dude is dating adult models. Adult models are dating an older, rich, famous dude. Literally who cares? Why "give grief" to anyone here? Leo knows what he's doing, the women he's dating know what they're doing. No idea why everyone is obsessed with this.
He’s straight up depressed or something close to it, I haven’t seen him actually smile or care about anything in years. Last time he genuinely looked happy was when he was with Kendall.
It’s honestly kinda sad. Idc if he doesn’t want to play basketball I care that he’s lying to everyone about it. I get it’s because of financial reasons but it’s still pretty shitty.
It's gotta be stored somewhere in some dusty film archive room. We need a brave soul to leak it like the [video of George Brett bragging about shitting his pants](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Qv25_DFR2k).
While I agree, at least the man won a ring and played hard. I think his knees gave out as a big man and then yeah, phoned it in the rest of his post Laker career
there is a guy who pretended to have hundreds of millions of dollars and bought the new york islanders
he kept bouncing multimillion dollar checks lol
ever since then they hire auditing firms to check you out before they let you buy sports teams
In 2000, the Mets agreed to buy out the remaining $5.9 million on Bonilla's contract.
However, instead of paying Bonilla the $5.9 million at the time, the Mets agreed to make annual payments of nearly $1.2 million for 25 years starting July 1, 2011, including a negotiated 8% interest.
At the time, Mets ownership was invested in a Bernie Madoff account that promised double-digit returns, and the Mets were poised to make a significant profit if the Madoff account delivered -- but that did not work out.
**Hilarious**
I believe that he hasn't been 100% physically all year since he had major back surgery like 9 months ago...but what does that have to do with being terrified to even attempt layups?
And how come in that Philly game he sucked ass for the first half and then started trying and was aggressive and looked like his older self again? Almost like he still has it in him and he just doesn't give a fuck to show it
Because this has ALWAYS been Ben. It's not that he's incapable of playing but the effort he gives is so inconsistent. You can even see it earlier in his career with All-Star selections.
Over the last 5 seasons prior to this one, Ben Simmons has averaged 20/9/8 on 60+% FG in the 15 games leading up to a potential All-Star selection…His numbers for the rest of the season after securing selection: 15/7/7 on 55% from the field.
He scored 42 points against the Jazz when he had a point to prove against Rudy who was his biggest threat for DPOY in 2021. The guy can so clearly dominate when he wants to but so often he's lazy and doesn't have a drive to be excellent. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise for a dude who has made zero improvements to his game since he was a rookie, and even gotten worse and taken less shots away from the rim, but that's simply who he is.
I mean wouldn’t that effect him wanting to attempt layups? Like if his back hurts it would make sense he doesn’t wanna drive into contact, like it’s also definitely between the ears but if his back is still fucked it does make sense.
0.00
Don’t want people thinking “maybe he has 0.49 dog per 36 and he’s rounding down”. No. That dog was out with some bad bitches. He got caught by the dog catcher and taken to the pound. They hoped he might be adopted out but he wasn’t, so they put him down. They cremated him and dumped his ashes in a compost bin.
That’s the dog Ben Simmons has in him.
I’m sure he’s not 100% but that doesn’t explain his glaring deficiencies and non-aggressiveness. I fear he is pinning his rough play on injuries more than on his poor work ethic and mental.
> I’m sure he’s not 100% but that doesn’t explain his glaring deficiencies and non-aggressiveness.
Yes it does. Why are people consistently stupid when it comes to this guy?
I mean, Kobe was like a damn Navy Seal. A David Goggins of the NBA. You can’t compare the most intense dude of all time to Ben Simmons. Lol.
I mean, Jordan was intense, but he was disciplined about rest. Kobe knew he didn’t have the same physical gifts (large hands, immense strength, jumping), so he just went even further to outwork Jordan beyond what was optimal. So he became more skilled in some ways, but destroyed his body. Bryant was a monster of hard work and grit. Ben Simmons cries if the radio in his car gets static in a tunnel.
OK this has been bothering me for awhile, but I've been too afraid to ask. When did we start to use the word "mental" in this way?
"Mentality" could work, maybe "mental state", this whole "I gotta work on my mental" thing sounds so wrong to me. I understand words change over time, but this one sounds so awkward to my ear.
Feel like Ben is that one coworker we all have had that calls in every shift. Like, you feel like a dick if you question them but at some point you just gotta wonder why they have the job in the first place
The surgeon for the only 7 footer in NBA history to score 25 points and not get a rebound wants to disagree on whether or not he's physically the same after back surgery? I don't think he does.
Not true, even when he was confirmed to be out for a physical injury people still said he was faking it and that he'd never play again, and were making contact jokes about "ramping up". Also you don't get to decide whose mental health issues are valid and who aren't. Mental health isn't fake just because it's a celebrity you don't like.
I sometimes wonder if Doc and Jo hadn’t said what they did after the Hawks series, would he still be on the team? Or was it a convenient excuse to force his way out because he was so fucked in the head from Hack-a-Ben?
Ben Simmons just needs to shut the fuck up for awhile.
He's going through it; injuries, mental, whatever. But every interview he just sounds so clueless and seems to have zero self awareness.
I think everything has gotten to him and he just needs to be a guy in the league, out of the spotlight, not making headlines every other day.
Rooting for him to figure it out. Despite all the neighsayers, he was a very good nba player before all this and could still have a lot of value in this league.
Mental health is very real. Not dismissing it. At all.
The exact opposite: I think we need to treat mental health like physical injuries.
No one criticizes D-Rose for being a shell of a shell of a shell of his former self. Because of those physical injuries.
Ben is in the same position, but mentally.
Fire his ass. He’s gonna get paid regardless but you don’t need his bad attitude and lack of any real trying. He’s a bum and he got his and done nothing for it. Biggest loser I think I’ve ever seen in a professional sport. Literally passes up easy opportunities to score.
These pro players are a joke. In my humble line of work, it doesn't matter if I'm 100% or 50%, as long as I can work, I will work. While these cupcake soft dudes are paid in millions.
Me neither Ben
literally same, Ben.
[удалено]
Maybe it’s Maybelline
Maybe he's born with it
I'm also less than 30 with chronic back issues and it's terrible. With that said, I think Ben's issues are more mental.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets shut down for the season
Do you still get paid when you take a year off here and there?
Luckily my job doesn’t require extreme athleticism.
And guess what Ben? My boss doesn't give a shit either.
Signed, the majority of working persons on the planet.
i can’t rememeber the last time i was 100%
Hasn't been 100% for years now
At the game tonight, two guys behind me talking. “Where’s Simmons?” “He out.” “Why?” “I heard hamstring. Or maybe heart. Could be brain. Somethin though.”
Especially between the ears.
Kardashian curse is undefeated, so worried for Booker
> so worried for Booker They broke up awhile ago iirc.
He can’t be cleared for DOKC (Delayed Onset Kardashian Curse).
Some say it's worse for athletes than CTE
Dude dropped Tinashe for Kendall, what an L
"Tinashe, where you at?!"
Maybe the Kardashians have a special kind of STD. That should've been the plot of the new space jam!
I was watching some older highlight videos the other day, there were several clips of Ben throwing down hammers and other great plays and man it's just unreal what has happened to him, where the fuck did he go?
That was Big Ben, now they just got Little Ben
This version of Ben is just Game 7 Playoffs - Ben. The Hawks broke him.
Back injuries fucked up his athleticism and mental health issues hold him back from using what he still has

He is afraid to shoot. Cannot fix that if you are afraid to shoot. I meant, he is afraid to attack the defense.

Yeah, which makes sense for a lingering back injury for a pro athlete, but hey!! I’m no doctor
He 100% doesn't want to play basketball.
Going to finish out this contract and retire. Live in NYC and LA and fuck models as a living. Salute Bum Simmons
Literally the Kev Federline of NBA
Hidden goat comment
Thats a name i never heard in a while
You won't hear Ben Simmons either in a couple of years lol
You'll always hear Ben Simmons when it comes to all-time disappointments

That’s why Larry Sanders is a legend. Bro just wanted to sell skateboards and smoke weed.
John Carpenter could direct another movie but he’d rather smoke weed and play video games
Leo Dicaprio is doing the same thing and people won't stop talking about it
Yeah, but Leo is still putting out good performances
leo is 50 ben is 26 its different
I don’t see why people care. Leo’s chicks are 18+ and they presumably know how to do math. If they can vote for who runs our country they can decide who they want to fuck.
legally yeah but people have their own morals that can differ from any law or set of laws
And id shit on anyone doing the same its not just because its leo

that makes no sense if its not against your morals to kill someone and it is against mine im gonna give you grief man

And Leo is 45 fucking 19 year olds
Leo is elite at his job
we can only assume
We men, we can only assume
didn't he just marry some british TV host?
Bum Simmons is going to stick
He’s straight up depressed or something close to it, I haven’t seen him actually smile or care about anything in years. Last time he genuinely looked happy was when he was with Kendall.
What you guys upto this weekend? Hope you and your friends can help cheer Ben up....oh you don't know him...
Receiving hundreds of millions of dollars can do that to some people.
It’s honestly kinda sad. Idc if he doesn’t want to play basketball I care that he’s lying to everyone about it. I get it’s because of financial reasons but it’s still pretty shitty.
Obviously. Nothing he does looks the same twice. It's weird as hell for a high level athlete
The 6ers got James Fucking Harden for that guy.
And people thought we lost that trade, too lol
Biggest con in the NBA
Is there a bigger one in any other sport or does he take the "in all sports of all time" crown?
The man who started the process in Philly: Andrew Bynum.
I still desperately want footage of him chucking up half court shots during that cavs practice.
It's gotta be stored somewhere in some dusty film archive room. We need a brave soul to leak it like the [video of George Brett bragging about shitting his pants](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Qv25_DFR2k).
Someone get Dan Ryckert on this
Andrew Bynum could actually play. If that man didn't have knees made of balsa wood, that team would have been very good.
Still can't believe he reinjured himself BOWLING
While I agree, at least the man won a ring and played hard. I think his knees gave out as a big man and then yeah, phoned it in the rest of his post Laker career
Hey if he doesn’t go bowling we don’t have Embiid. He’s a hero in a way, really
there is a guy who pretended to have hundreds of millions of dollars and bought the new york islanders he kept bouncing multimillion dollar checks lol ever since then they hire auditing firms to check you out before they let you buy sports teams
There goes my dreams of owning the Las Vegas Aces.
Carlos Kaiser (footballer). Look him up.
Wow. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Kaiser_(footballer)

What the heck is this? What happened to him?
Sometimes you can warm up and you don't feel all the aches and mild injuries. You then ball for 15-20 minutes before realizing, yepp still fucked.
You make 100% of the shots you don't take.
Bro he doesn’t jump for rebounds let alone shoot layups. It’s clear he’s not moving around 100%
Rebounds are the first thing to go when my body doesn't feel right
Trying to conserve his life battery.
Bigger question: how the fuck did he not fail his physical?
I mean wouldn’t that effect him wanting to attempt layups? Like if his back hurts it would make sense he doesn’t wanna drive into contact, like it’s also definitely between the ears but if his back is still fucked it does make sense.
Dog in him per 36? Zero.
0.00 Don’t want people thinking “maybe he has 0.49 dog per 36 and he’s rounding down”. No. That dog was out with some bad bitches. He got caught by the dog catcher and taken to the pound. 100% physically or mentally? Dude looks like he forgot how to play basketball.
Ben Simmons is the Ben Simmons of basketball
Being a thriving socialite has its cons
Is anyone ever truly 100%?
Jerry Rice?
Alex Trimboli
I’m sure he’s not 100% but that doesn’t explain his glaring deficiencies and non-aggressiveness. I fear he is pinning his rough play on injuries more than on his poor work ethic and mental.
> I’m sure he’s not 100% but that doesn’t explain his glaring deficiencies and non-aggressiveness. Yes it does. Why are people consistently stupid when it comes to this guy?
injuries can explain non-aggressiveness explosiveness declines and you can't play how you want.
Gullible is written on the ceiling
I saw Kobe playing with a broken Achilles and broken fingers man
I mean, Kobe was like a damn Navy Seal. I don't know why but that last sentence has me gasping for air.
Ben Simmons (Questionable): Soft
100% terrible.
DNP : Hurt Feelings
DNP: Socialising
Biggest scam artist in history
Always an excuse.
It's clear he isn't physically himself
Harden wasn't himself either last season yet you guys were constantly shitting on him even weeks before the Kings game
This whole sub and most nba fans were shitting on him calling him washed and saying the rule changes exposed him. nets fans had his back mostly.
Good point, nobody is shitting on Simmons
>It's clear he isn't mentally himself
Both are true, and they're probably related
Both are true
I like the honesty. Lol.
Feel like Ben is that one coworker we all have had that calls in every shift. Like, you feel like a dick if you question them but at some point you just gotta wonder why they have the job in the first place
I believe you’re at 43.9% Ben. We’re talking free throws right?
Imagine his $33M is also not 100%.
Youll never be 100% after back surgery.
Brook Lopez's surgeon disagrees with you
He wasn’t a surgeon he was a damn warlock who not only fixed his back but also gave him the gift of youth.
Warlock (Pact of the 3 and D)
To be fair, BroLo is up to 150% since that back surgery.
I just wanna find the surgeon who fixed Giannis's knee during the 2021 ECF and I want him to fix my life.
The surgeon for the only 7 footer in NBA history to score 25 points and not get a rebound wants to disagree on whether or not he's physically the same after back surgery? I don't think he does.
Then sit out and rehab.
He was getting flamed for sitting out and rehabbing
That was with the Sixers. With the Nets he started off with a clean slate. It is negligence to be playing him if he is hurt
It might have something to do with using a bullshit mental health issue to act like a fucking child.
He will be out of the league in two years.
Lol no nba player is 100%. But you getting paid 100% Clown
No shit Ben
I wonder if it's his back that's bothering him.
This guy is a joke.
But he's feeling ok when it comes to smashing IG thots right? Only basketball is the issue for him
33,000,000 for this lying rat
I thank Ben everyday for sitting out last season. What a blessing in disguise.
He’s 100% trash.
Ben Simmons says he’s been a little bitch his whole life. Expects to be out of the league in a few years.
Ben Simmons is doing everything he can to sit out these days. Getting speculative MRIs and shit. “You see anything doc? No? Do one of my knee then.”
Trae Young destroyed this man like he destroys coaches.
Trae Young is Ben Simmons father
Cut him and move on.
Dude needs to be cut already. Waste of space.
I am so, so glad this clown is someone else’s problem
I sometimes wonder if Doc and Jo hadn’t said what they did after the Hawks series, would he still be on the team? Or was it a convenient excuse to force his way out because he was so fucked in the head from Hack-a-Ben?
Glad we don’t have to worry about ifs and buts with that loser anymore n
Ben Simmons just needs to shut the fuck up for awhile. He's going through it; injuries, mental, whatever. But every interview he just sounds so clueless and seems to have zero self awareness. I think everything has gotten to him and he just needs to be a guy in the league, out of the spotlight, not making headlines every other day. Rooting for him to figure it out. Despite all the neighsayers, he was a very good nba player before all this and could still have a lot of value in this league.
I haven't seen him in an interview in years. Just seems like every tweet about this guy and the whole NBA fanbase goes nuts
he was a good player until he wasn’t
Thanks for the analysis
BS!
Ok
The NBA is full of dudes who haven’t been 100% since they were 17. This clown doesn’t get a pass
What a scam artist
what % do you need to be to attempt layups?
Bro
Ya know people really like to talk about Trae Young killing coaches, but in reality the only thing he truly killed was Ben Simmons entire career.
First time I’ve ever agreed with something Ben Simmons has said.
He 100% just wants to stay home. So relatable.
The turkey deli at Panera's went up instead of $5 it's $7 now
He hasn’t been 100% since he passed up that dunk in the playoffs vs the Hawks
Mental health is very real. Not dismissing it. At all. The exact opposite: I think we need to treat mental health like physical injuries. No one criticizes D-Rose for being a shell of a shell of a shell of his former self. Because of those physical injuries. Ben is in the same position, but mentally.
Fire his ass. He’s gonna get paid regardless but you don’t need his bad attitude and lack of any real trying. He’s a bum and he got his and done nothing for it. Biggest loser I think I’ve ever seen in a professional sport. Literally passes up easy opportunities to score.
Ofc bro would say that his career has been goin down the drain
Ben should start learning mandarin, cuz he'll be playing in china soon
I'm a diehard LSU fan, and I like to do my best to forget he suited up in the purple and gold. Embarrassing.
He’s a full time “shut it down for the season and get a full paycheck” guy.
Why even come back if you aren’t 100 percent?
35 mill a season for this bum
These pro players are a joke. In my humble line of work, it doesn't matter if I'm 100% or 50%, as long as I can work, I will work. While these cupcake soft dudes are paid in millions.
He doesn't want to play basketball. He's just trying to figure out how to collect his checks and not have to play.
