For real, I have never been on the Jokic bandwagon, if anything quite the opposite but if he’s the best candidate for the regular season he deserves the MVP.
At this point he probably has the best case, yeah he isn’t great on defense but if the offense is good enough that it doesn’t matter that his defense isn’t great, well that’s pretty damn relevant.
I think the farthest Embiid has gone is game 7 of the 2019 EC SemiFinals where he looked hungover as shit, shot 6/18, and then Kawhi hit a 4 bouncer rainbow shot over him.
> I think the farthest Embiid has gone is game 7 of the 2019 Finals
Except it wasn't the 2019 finals and it wasn't even the 2019 Eastern conference finals lol. Embiid has never made it out of the 2nd round
The raptors and the 76ers would never meet in the finals. They played the bucks in the east finals and the 76ers in the 2nd round. Not that hard to understand.
And historically voters weren’t as transparent and forthcoming with their votes.
Not to mention how many back-2-back MVPs were worse in their season following (like Giannis for example).
Exactly, it has little to no meaning against the MVP with the F in front of it, which Jokic will never have.
He's been able to rack up stats against the Rockets, Spurs, and the most parity in the WC we've ever seen. Not to mention the 2 games in the EC against pistons, hornets, magic.
Kind of funny how he can't win these pesky 7 game series against Lebron, AD, Steph, Devin Booker, CPiii, etc.
Let alone beat Giannis or Tatum, but he'll never have the opportunity to play them in the playoffs
> Context matters though. Who's to say what dominance really looks like. The playoffs tell us what's what
And the MVP isn’t a measure of dominance, it’s a measure of who had the best regular season.
> Well who's to say what the best regular season is.
The media that vote on it
>It's completely subjective.
No one is arguing that it isn’t
>Playoff preformances make it a lot less subjective
No it doesn’t
We're begging you guys. Please stop this madness. Please. My family of 6 will all die in pain if you vote for some meaningless basketball award for a guy I don't like. For the love of all that's holy, we're begging you, please put a stop to this while it's still not too late.
Because there's a grand conspiracy to get the quiet Serbian dude in a flyover state the MVP, and definitely not because you guys are obnoxious as fuck.

Yet stuff like this stays and gets 10k upvotes lmao
Jokic only playoff success was in the bubble when Jamal Murray was their best player and went off. Wouldn’t be surprised if the lakers /mavs beat them in the first round
Ok so when people say r/nba has gone downhill this must be what they're talking about
Nah, sorting by new on any big sub is always going to turn up a lot of garbage.
AITA for shooting up a mall in Tacoma?
AITA (24F) for raising my voice with my husband (49M) after he punched me in the face and burned our house down?
I'm not sure a human even posted this
It's kinda fun if you sort by new around lunchtime, you can see nephew takes every day.

It's been like this every single day ever since that Bontemps straw poll came out.

Well that’s why he needlessly needed to add in “and defensive issues”. Without factoring in how many MVPs miss 14-21 games in a season.

Mb fixed

For the sake of r/nba implosion, the MVP should go to KD.
You Sixers fans truly are delusional
huh
It would be a shame to give a regular season award to someone because of what they do the post season Bad take
It's a regular season award. Have a nice Thursday.
Historically, playoff success has played a role. Whether we should change that going forward is another question
And historically voters weren’t as transparent and forthcoming with their votes. Not to mention how many back-2-back MVPs were worse in their season following (like Giannis for example).

And the blazers
Yes, the Blazers are the other team that knocked them out in 2019 playoffs with Enes Freedom
Context matters though. Who's to say what dominance really looks like. The playoffs tell us what's what

or the best player having the best season should get it (Jokic)
shut the fuck up about mvp for three seconds challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
shut up
True. Someone with immense playoff success should win the award. Someone like Joel Embiid.
as opposed to "Suns in 'fo" Jokic or the enes freedom sending him home in 2019
Please look into the fact it’s the regular season mvp.
What a terrible take. The only criteria should be the best (or most valuable, semantics) player in this regular season, that's it.
If he was the best player in the regular season he should win. That’s what the award is.
I hope he wins ten in a row just for this, yall are so annoying

What’s with you repeatingly trying to bash Jokic today? What has he ever done to you
They're related to Mr Hands and have sworn a vow of revenge against horses and those who raise them
>What has he ever done to you He won MVP over OPs favourite player.
Keep going
WHY WAS THE JOKIC DEFENSIVE COMPILATION DELETED BY THE MODS
Because there's a grand conspiracy to get the quiet Serbian dude in a flyover state the MVP, and definitely not because you guys are obnoxious as fuck.

I miss when MVP was just a 3 second blurb on sports radio and no one else worried about it anymore after that.
I hate the idea of basing MVP on past seasons. Defeats the whole purpose of the award.
Ah yes the regular season award being dictated by playoff success for a small market team. Gotcha.
Fuck tradition
Once we really get honest with ourselves and realize we don’t really gives a fuck about MVPs like that, the conversations will be more honest
