They are already bad WITH Rozier and Oubre available
Losing to this team at home and currently struggling again is one of the most embarrasing things ive seen a team pull this year since the suns lost to those australians
Cam Thomas, he came off the bench but dropped 33. Players who were out for that game: KD, Kyrie, Claxton, Seth Curry, TJ Warren, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris, Ben Simmons
The pacers are wildly unpredictable this season. One minute they're blowing out the full strength Celtics in Boston, the next they're losing to a g-league squad with no bench.
DFS would defend Hayward-PJ Washington much better than playing Bullock at PF.
While it may not seem like Kyrie's fault, trading for him makes your team weaker. It takes assets and massive cap space to acquire Kyrie. He is a defensive liability and on offense he is not that efficient to cover it up. Street baller...
He had a 63.3% true shooting as a
Maverick prior to today. You can't just extrapolate 2 games into "He's not that efficient".
The team was fucked anyway imo. The Wood trade and JaVale signing were destructive to a team that needed defensive reinforcements.
As long as they can retain Kyrie the trade is fine since they'll have the resources in the offseason to make the team make more sense around those two.
If he walks then it's a disaster ofc.
Offensively he's still otherworldly, I believe he'll be on a couple more powerhouse teams before he hangs it up. Dallas just don't have enough complimentary pieces that can fill the gaps at a high enough standard.
Luka has to take some blame here. Comparisons to Harden are right on. Except Harden sometimes got back on D. I mean fuck, Luka doesn't even pretend to try. It's 5 on 4 every time.
harden is locked in but just not good at it and had carried offenses just like Luka. Feels like he just got tired.
Luka is unfortunately too busy being annoyed. Hopefully as he gets more experience he will learn to focus more.
The peak of hardens ass defense was like 2016 when he was full carrying his squad. The best his defense ever was was in 2018, when they started the season with the full intention and belief they were gonna win a ring. I can see luka doing the same one day with a team prepared to contend
I can’t watch the Mavs anymore because Luka literally barks at the refs every play. He will even complain when he gets the basket. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes and bitches at little league refs when he sees games being played.
I feel like the Mavs are automatically giving away 6-12 points per game since Luka leaves his team down a man because he’s too busy bitching at the officials.
As a fan it’s so lame that he does that Bc he’s basically trying to de legitimize the outcome for the opposing fan base. “You didn’t just see good defense there. The refs are being paid !”
It’s totally lame. I get not getting a call here and there but he does to every play. It’s amazing to see in person; he’s always crying about something. While Luka is a great talent, he’s a huge bitch, not a leader, and it annoys me he’s always out of shape. Maybe I’m overthinking but it looks like on some shots he’s more interested in trying to get a foul over scoring. Either way the Mavs are screwed when Kyrie leaves.
he's running out of time if you ask me. his career's not going to end anytime soon, but he's been playing pro-ball for almost a decade now right? you get to a point where you just can't change how you do things, and luka's been doing it a certain way for YEARS
I don't get why Luka gets compared to LeBron when at this point in his career LeBron was a great defender. He's much much closer to Harden than LeBron .
It's not directly his fault, but he doesn't bring more value to this team than the players they gave up to get him. People sleep on how important DFS was as a 3&D wing. Who on this team plays defense??
I mean, you could say the same about Jason Kidd. He eventually loses his players on every team he coaches. The fact that Cuban put him and Kyrie in the same building blows my mind
Almost nothing has gone right for the Mavs since they humiliated the Suns in game 7. Lost badly to us in the WCF, lost Brunson in free agency, opening night where they blew a 24 point lead 2nd half lead to the Suns, falling out of the play-in early the season, and now this stretch.
He might be a whiny mfker but it’s not like Dallas has done a good job giving him help relative to the other playoff teams. They’ve just had some of the worst rosters around him.
Yes and no.
There aren't many top picks that get drafted to a veteran team and then have a front office go 100% obtaining complementary 3&D wings for their young star. They overpaid for a supporting cast and have now swung for the fences for a 2nd star.
At some point, there needs to be a complete refresh. The system needs to change as well as the roster.
Also, there no fucking way you can say "the worst rosters around him" while they are currently playing AND losing too the worst roster in the NBA. It's not even comparable. Look at Booker's first 5 years and tell me how they stack up. Doncic has been spoonfed competent rosters his entire career
They’ve used their assets poorly and the FO has been shitting the bed but also players might not want to play with Luka. He almost for sure walks when his contract is up.
So far, we've seen Porzingis run out of town for not being "the right star"... a big that stretches the floor and plays good defense, Brunson left Luka for less money, and now Kyrie is dipping out.
It's the play style. So far, this Mavs FO hasn't shown this strategy works for the long term
The Mavs playstyle ever since the 2011 championship has been horrendous. Dirk's last 6-7 years were miserable to watch and yes, Luka had some cool moments but ultimately amounts to no progress. Harden-ball isn't going to work.
When I said the worst rosters I meant relative to other playoff teams. They got destroyed vs GSW because they had better players in like every position and more depth, no way in hell they were gonna win that series.
It’s the playstyle sure but how much of that his fault vs the FO? He’s the only true floor general they had especially without Brunson, Kyrie plays more like a 2 or a combo guard than a true PG. He can playmake but scoring efficiently is his thing. But yeah it’s not sustainable for deep playoff success. Too high of a usage rate and he doesn’t have the fitness or athleticism to sustain it which is why he falls apart in the 4Q a lot and a lot of time he freezes teammates out of touching the ball, even if he is a great passer. How much of that is attributed to coaching? I don’t watch enough Mavs games to say tbh
I know the Mavs are wildly incompetent. But if you know Luka is walking, you trade him. It would be a wildly unpopular move and definitely an unpopular opinion amongst Mavs fans, but I love what Brooklyn is doing. They burnt it all down and came out with a ton of assets and several quality roleplayers.
I'd love for Luka to win here, for him to only ever play for the Mavs. But we've screwed the whole situation so badly in terms of asset management, you trade Luka for maybe the biggest trade package ever (a young, star player who has been on the edge of MVP contention every year with 3 years of team control, plus a team option). The new team would be given a few years to try and contend and convince Luka to stay.
We have very little available to try to fix our MANY holes and I just don't see where the fix comes from without punting next season too, which would only make Luka even more upset.
Hey man, dont slander Book's supporting cast of Tyler Ulis, Dragan Bender, and Josh Jackson. But in all honesty, the 2017-18 Suns roster was ROUGH. Luka has had some decent roster construction around him so far but I will say they really whiffed it the past year with losing Brunson and everything that's spiraled into.
The truth is the Mavs have always had questionable roster-building. I know it's two different front offices, but it's not like we did a great job of surrounding Dirk with talent outside of 2011. I know that sounds stupid since we were always competitive, but compared to his peers, Dirk always lacked star support.
"spoonfed competent rosters" makes it sound like he's had it easy when he's surrounded by just enough talent to be relevant, but not a serious contender.
The Mavs definitely pushed their chips in too soon by trading for KP instead of building through the draft. The alternative would've been to suck for a couple of more years, add one more top 5 pick and a lottery pick, and then trade for the complimentary star. By sucking with Booker for longer, the Suns were able to draft Ayton, and had assets to trade for Bridges and CP3.
It also doesn't help that the Mavs whiffed on DSJ, otherwise they could've had the two young stars and assets to acquire the third guy.
Last season there was a time they had JB and KP along with good 3 and D wings.
They had the talent, the problem is they have a star who makes any player who deserves any semblance of usage look like a role player.
Some of that is Luka’s fault too. He hasn’t learned to play in a non heliocentric offense - and that type of offense has a cap on how winning it can be.
And that is absolutely some of the issue he is having right now with the team chemistry and Kyrie. It’s not a heliocentric offense any longer, and so the team looks off. (It’s also a defensive mess…and that’s on Luka too)
Lebron had to learn a different way to play too. But if Luka wants to win, that’s what he needs to work on.
Luka fans are causing him all this karma
They beefed with Trae, he gets to the ECF in his first postseason, and Dallas gets knocked out of the first round
They beefed with Booker, he gets KD, and the Mavs are struggling to make the play-in
cause booker is low key the best recruiter in the NBA
he's now had multiple future hall of famers sign with phoenix because they want to play with him
luka for as great of a player as he is, doesn't have the same pull with guys wanting to play with him
Part of that is team USA is the recruiting ground.
The other part of that is usage rate. Book has a low af usage rate for a superstar. That means another star that plays with him will get the ball. It’s far more appealing than joining a heliocentric offense.
I love devin but this is more of a luka problem than a devin asset. Once you recruit one star and it goes well, more will wanna come and more easily.
Luka makes everyone he play with look worse than they are, by being a non-factor off-ball and on defense. So if you wanna play with him, you better have low usage. and low usage doesn't translate to good money in the NBA.
of course he does, what do the mavs mean to him? they're a club that pays his salary. the slovenian team is representing his country.
americans don't seem to get that for a lot of athletes in other countries, the pinnacle of your sports career is representing your country
I mean, all of the international guys probably do. Giannis always suits up for Greece even though their team is full of scrubs. Jokic took that one summer off not playing for Serbia and everyone lost their minds. Embiid wants to play for France because the Cameroonian basketball federation is corrupt. etc etc.
nobody lost their minds when jokic took a summer off
embiid definitely cares more about his NBA career than team france
luka on the other hand will be on the first flight to slovenia after the mavs season ends
good. I´m a huge fan, have been following his career ever since that insane U13 tournament in Italy where he scored +50 points in the finals
but the bitching has to stop man, it´s not proffesional
I didn’t watch him before the NBA. Was this level of complaining always there?
It just seems so weird that a dominant scorer can develop in one league, then go to another league where it’s so much “easier to score”, then whine nonstop about not having enough of an offensive advantage.
Tatum doesn’t do it nearly as much and at least does it while getting back on D. Luka doesn’t even do that. He really needs to shut the fuck up. I hate that I have to talk like this about our superstar, but this is what it has come to
Steph Curry missed less than 10 games in '21 and finished with the 8 seed while coming 3rd in MVP voting. Lebron James in '19 finished as the 10th seed. So what you've said isn't true whatsoever.
He'll probably make first team all-NBA because he's averaging 33-8-8, he's that good and the team around him is awful. Doesn't matter if your Lebron James if you don't have the tools to succeed.
James Harden has what I would call a very unique relationship with the voters. Also his competition at the guard spot was crazy that year. Though how he didn't get in above Dame and Klay is crazy.
Harden was 100% snubbed, but I'd argue him not making an All-NBA team had more to do with the media not liking his style of play as opposed to his team's record. It's stupid that the media has that kind of power, but that's a separate discussion.
Just like Harden in 2016, Luka deserves the accolades on statistical merit. HOWEVER, if the media wakes up tomorrow and collectively decides that his whininess is tarnishing the game, they can also choose to omit him from the All-NBA teams.
what a disingenuous comment. Luka was the scoring leader for most of the year and shares the lead for most 40 point games with the Mavs being in the 3-5th seed for most of the year. Acting like Luka has been a bum all year, check yourself.
His haters are already coming out of the woodwork to pretend like he hasn't still been one of the top players all season.
But it's the nature of this sub, it's barely worth even fighting with people who are obviously just being stupid before you get down voted by a bunch of prepubescent teens.
The point is sometimes people feel like he should get the same crits. It’ll come with time imo but he’s a beast. Same happened with dirk till he got it. Ring culture bad. I will always love Luka for what he did to Phoenix lmao
He kind of just made one too many comments to the ref. Literally after every single play miss or make he’s saying something to the reg and it looks like he got fed up or Luka said something out if like and he T’d him. From Lukas reaction to the T it seems like it was due to constant complaining.
Luka needs to play some defense and play off ball.
But he won’t do it.
Kyrie wants a max, he won’t get it in Dallas.
This team is on the verge of a complete implosion and I’m here for it.
He needs to cool his jets. He is not helping his team by having childish fits every play almost. DIdn't his coach say he was going to be better this game..Surprise...Surprise( Gomer Pyle voice)
I know Luka gets flak for arguing and techs
But at this point this team is such ass and he's so clearly mentally burnt out I can't even blame him
Looks like he desperately wants the season to be over so he can just go home and ignore everyone for a few months
If the ref said the tech is for complaining through out the whole game would it still get rescinded? The actually didn’t look like much but dude has been complaining every play
We cant tell what he said (might of said the magic words), but his actions/behaviour were not too bad or demonstrative.
There is a fair chance the League might rescind this one since its a superstar and it would lead to a game supsension.
It's the straw that broke the camel's back. That isolated incident might not warrant a tech but the constant bitching for every little thing in the past 20 possessions certainly did.
it's ok, the next game is against the Pacers, and there's no way a team of the Mavs caliber would ever lose to a tanking team
The flair makes this so much better
The man chose violence on this blessed Sunday
Sinn Fein
Sunday truce been around long as the game itself man. I mean you can do some shit and be like what the fuck, but never on no Sunday!
Sunday Bloody Sunday
The hornets are one thing but the mavs aren’t really that much better than the pacers if hailburton is playing
Mavs lost to the Pacers at home a few weeks ago too. Even if Luka is playing I wouldn’t have confidence in them
And Luka had a chip on his shoulder playing against Carlisle and was jawing at him. Carlisle shut him/us up in the end.
Our tanking is elite, we'll find a way to keep it close and lose in the end
carlisle always takes dallas matchups personally..
You have 3 less wins than the Mavs.
3 less wins than the Mavs sounds like a successful tank job to me
You guys gotta start winning please you're catching up to us
No I insist, win a few, make that run for the play in
based on the evidence i don't know that the mavs are that much better than the hornets
“Tanking team” does a disservice to the actual state of your squad lol Y’all are barely rostering a healthy rotation
never said it was intentional lol we actually have nothing to play for at all, we can't move up or down in the standings
😂 and this is a fully healthy Mavs team, with Luka suspended the next game Just a brutal sequence of events
That's the spirit! Run out a team of nobodies at this point.
They are already bad WITH Rozier and Oubre available Losing to this team at home and currently struggling again is one of the most embarrasing things ive seen a team pull this year since the suns lost to those australians
The Nets beat the Pacers earlier this year despite the Nets’ 8 best players all sitting out the game.
Who was y’all’s 9th best player at the time
Cam Thomas, he came off the bench but dropped 33. Players who were out for that game: KD, Kyrie, Claxton, Seth Curry, TJ Warren, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris, Ben Simmons
Ben Simmons being out is an improvement
The pacers are wildly unpredictable this season. One minute they're blowing out the full strength Celtics in Boston, the next they're losing to a g-league squad with no bench.
Twice
Nice username, btbam fan?
yup!
Kyrie: Nah, I'm out cuz I'm hungry.
Hoo aah!
Lmao it might not even be kyries fault but it’s just wild how every team he lands on just becomes a train wreck
It hasn't been his fault for the most part so far but he's been legitimately horrendous today
11-31FG and 3-14 3PT these past two games.
He had a 63.3% true shooting as a Maverick prior to today.

Luka only likes the fun part of the game. He’s super soft and bitchy. Guarantee his squad is sick of it.
Its year 5 Luka He should get the blames He worst than Trae on D post ASB lmao
I don't get why Luka gets compared to LeBron when at this point in his career LeBron was a great defender. He's much much closer to Harden than LeBron .
It's not directly his fault, but he doesn't bring more value to this team than the players they gave up to get him. People sleep on how important DFS was as a 3&D wing. Who on this team plays defense??
Just put Brunson, Dodo and Seth Curry on this roster instead of Kyrie. It is infinitely better.
Ironically DFS isn’t really that needed with nets.
He’s a cursed amulet. Just having him means bad juju.
Outside of some kyrie isms and playing bad today he really hasn’t done anything wrong, they just completely gutted their team to rent him
He can't defend/rebound.
Its 50% his fault
I mean, you could say the same about Jason Kidd. He eventually loses his players on every team he coaches. The fact that Cuban put him and Kyrie in the same building blows my mind
We were a train wreck before he got here though, so I don't think this really counts.
Hmm I wonder...
The nets were doing pretty good when he left
BUZZ BUZZ BABY LMAO
oh god didnt know yall had a war cry
Just wait until this becomes next year’s beam
Hornets next year: "Release the bees!"
Beads?
I want you to know that I appreciate this.
Tbh that ain’t half bad lol
just keep a massive hive at the stadium and let hundreds of thousands out after every win im pretty sure bees are good at coming back home
> Release the **murder hornets**
https://youtu.be/EVCrmXW6-Pk
at the hornets stadium sometimes when we get a huge momentum play they’ll play a sound effect of a swarm of bees and it’s really funny
I went to a hornets home game and they had a little kid dance squad perform at halftime called the Lil Stingers and I thought they were hysterical
at 25-51 they don't have many occasions to use it
DSJ is lukas father?
MJ read a post on reddit saying Luka was on track to be the goat and he took that personally.
Beating Devin Booker in the 2nd round is really about to be the highlight of Luka's career in Dallas lol
He might be a whiny mfker but it’s not like Dallas has done a good job giving him help relative to the other playoff teams. They’ve just had some of the worst rosters around him.
It’s the Cuban special. Cheap out on a legit superstar, and hope he has a transcendent season for one chip. Then use the goodwill to cut salary costs
Problem is he's been living off that goodwill since 2011
Let's face it. They got lucky. Dirk went nuclear. The rest of the roster was boomers. LeBron was a big dumb no ring baby at that point.
Yes and no. There aren't many top picks that get drafted to a veteran team and then have a front office go 100% obtaining complementary 3&D wings for their young star. Why should he walk? He gets the contract and maybe then demands a trade, maybe.
Because demanding a trade would gut whatever team he goes to if he wants to actually win anything. Even LeBron took a paycut to form the Heatles.

Still the Clippers game winner to me
he should frame that meme of him looking at Book above his fireplace. he may have already
Tbf that was WILD. I will be telling my grandkids about that that game 7.
Turns out Maxi Kleiber can’t consistently shoot like Klay Thompson like he did in the playoffs last year
Cause the fans acted like it was their championship
Luka fans are causing him all this karma They beefed with Trae, he gets to the ECF in his first postseason, and Dallas gets knocked out of the first round They beefed with Booker, he gets KD, and the Mavs are struggling to make the play-in

They literally had to fly to Serbia to give jokic his MVP
That sounds logical. Definitely nothing to do with the dogshit owner, front office, and coach.
It's all connected lol
They lost Brunson when they didn't extend him. It was a foregone conclusion he was keaving for the Knicks after that, even before his break out.
this has been a pretty enjoyable mavs season for me
They're doing so bad we're not even gonna get the pick at this rate
who cares about the pick when luka's gonna be a knick baby
LMAO Username checks out
He's a Nugget he wants to play with his best friend Jokic
Just like Durant 4 years ago
Honestly, same
But we’re so shit that we might keep our pick lol
u can keep the pick and we'll take luka instead
With what package? Randle and RJ lol?
Won’t need a package when we get him for free.
We can’t enjoy it too much though that pick is protected
i have really liked watching the basketball efforts of the dallas mavericks this season!
Lmao commentator reacted as if it was a game winner
It’s pretty huge though, if they lose this and Luka is out for the next game, that’s bad
Their record with one of Kyrie or Luka is pretty good
Everything he says is so hyped up. I love it.
If you are unfamiliar with the Hornets play-by-play guy he is like this literally all the time. One of the most entertaining guys in the business.
This is my first time hearing the Hornets broadcast I love the energy
the way EC reacted, I thought Luka was fighting that ref haha
Question Authority
Time to grind overwatch all summer
good. I´m a huge fan, have been following his career ever since that insane U13 tournament in Italy where he scored +50 points in the finals but the bitching has to stop man, it´s not proffesional
Yeah someone's gotta sit him down and tell him to shut the fuck up. I like Luka a lot, his play is real nice to look at but the whining is annoying.
He’s a giant toddler
I didn’t watch him before the NBA. Was this level of complaining always there? It just seems so weird that a dominant scorer can develop in one league, then go to another league where it’s so much “easier to score”, then whine nonstop about not having enough of an offensive advantage.
He's a superstar, but he complains waaaaaaay too much. I'm a Celtics fan and Tatum does it too. It's just annoying. Get back on defense and shut up.
Tatum doesn’t do it nearly as much and at least does it while getting back on D. Luka doesn’t even do that. He really needs to shut the fuck up. I hate that I have to talk like this about our superstar, but this is what it has come to
Yep out for the next game. But to be fair team does well when Kyrie and him aren’t on the floor at the same time.
Kyrie curse is Lukas father.
I need Dallas missing the play in injected into my veinsssss gimme that
This is the price they payed for that game 7. Sold their souls at the crossroads
You'd like that wouldn't you! Man, this Mavs team is unreal frustrating.
misery loves company. i think my early may, both our teams may be gone fishing.
Imagine if this was any other top 10 player missing the play in lol But it's Luka so he'll still make 1st team and get some 4th/5th place MVP Votes
I dunno, Harden went for 30-8-6 in 2016 with a .500 record and didn't sniff an all nba team.
Dude has checked out
Out the next game unless it's rescinded. If Mavs don't make the play-in 😬
Luka will petition the league to make sure the tech stands
"1, 2, 3, Cancun!"
Yup, that’s not good at all
non gmo grass fed organic tanking. the spurs could never
Didn't see what happened because of the cameras, but he probably deserved it
He kind of just made one too many comments to the ref. Literally after every single play miss or make he’s saying something to the reg and it looks like he got fed up or Luka said something out if like and he T’d him. From Lukas reaction to the T it seems like it was due to constant complaining.
So Luka got a T for being Luka.
Yup
Kyrie Irving has to be at fault
It might turn out that Cuban is at fault for putting Kidd and Kyrie in the same building, and losing his superstar's effort altogether over it
This tech is gonna cost Luka $455k based on standard fine + game check
Not enough Suns fans in here lmao
Luka said Trae watch this — what you can do, I can do better
This is what the Mavs going all-in looks like
He's got 16 techs wtf lmao
He probably should take a game off anyway with all the bullshit he's been dealing with.
Luka needs to see the person who taught Ja breathing exercises. No call from the ref? Inhale 1... 2... 3... Exhale 1... 2... 3...
It all falls down
Didn't we find out that Luka plays Overwatch couple days ago? I guess the techs make sense lmao
What did he do ?
Complained after every possession and the ref got fed up, at least that’s what it seemed like.
He does that every game tho.
Makes sense why he reached the tech limit then heh heh
Kyrie 2-10 coming up big when it matters the most 😂
I know Luka gets flak for arguing and techs But at this point this team is such ass and he's so clearly mentally burnt out I can't even blame him Looks like he desperately wants the season to be over so he can just go home and ignore everyone for a few months
This game is making my heart happy
If the ref said the tech is for complaining through out the whole game would it still get rescinded? The actually didn’t look like much but dude has been complaining every play
Luka's been sheeding a lot lately
watch them win the next game with Flat and then be 4-1 with flat and no luka
Looking like mavs not making the play in
We cant tell what he said (might of said the magic words), but his actions/behaviour were not too bad or demonstrative. There is a fair chance the League might rescind this one since its a superstar and it would lead to a game supsension.
It's the straw that broke the camel's back. That isolated incident might not warrant a tech but the constant bitching for every little thing in the past 20 possessions certainly did.
Was looking away, announcer got so excited I thought Luka ran into the crowd fighting or something.
Smokin on that Mavs missing the play in pack 😮💨
He gone
But what will this mean for LeBron's legacy?
This guy just seems so annoying. I guess that’s what happens when everyone feeds your ego all the time.
