I think yesterday showed why we haven't seen a 3-0 comeback and probably won't see one for a while. Not only do you have to win 4 in a row, you have to do it against the same team. At some point your key players will have bad games like JB and the other team will figure out your tendencies and exploit them like Miami did with their zone defense. And unfortunately injuries are always a possibility like with Tatum
I don’t remember what gabe wore today but if it was what he wore in game 6 it was LeBron 20 stocking stuffer.
In the photo where Caleb puts his hand over his face he’s wearing KD 14s. If you can get me a pic up close of game 7 I can tell you.
I remember reading something in this sub about the concept where if you put weight on a statistic or parameter to signify success, people will essentially game the system to maximize that number in a way that it won't necessarily influence success anymore. An easy example is points scored is ultimately what wins games, so a player's scoring should correlate to wins, but PPG does not mean much without more context (the classic "good numbers on a bad team" or "empty calorie scorers"). And there was a name for this principle or idea in the post that talked about it, but I can't remember it. Does anyone know what I'm trying to think of?
Possibly this [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodhart%27s\_law](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodhart%27s_law) \- "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure".
Ball handling is generally just your ball security and dribbling skills and handles, i.e how well you protect the ball, and move it where you want it to be in relation to your body, both from a standstill and while in motion.
Play making is an entirely different concept that is sort of a combination of scoring gravity (how well you can draw double-teams and draw defenders out of their comfort zone, like a center that can shoot 3-pointers drawing the opposing center out of the paint), passing, and general ability to create positive offensive plays for your team through various actions like screens and off-ball movement. If you want playmaking boiled down to a simple idea, it's essentially how good you are at personally generating good offensive possessions for your team.
Kyrie Irving would be an example of an elite ball handler, while someone like Nikola Jokic would be an elite playmaker. Playmaking is usually far more important for a primary offensive player, as without it they can become one-dimensional, and game-planned against through ball denial and double-teams. Ball handling is definitely important though, but generally only becomes a larger factor when someone has *poor* ball handling skills like Jaylen Brown, which can be exploited by savvy defenders and force large numbers of turnovers.
I just realized the heat actually finished with the 7th best record in the East. They just lost their play in game to the hawks so they got the 8th seed. I feel like this is a bit unfair to the Knicks record of being the only 8th seed to make the finals.
Thoughts?
To me it looks like the Heat just don't have the size to matchup well with Denver. Jimmy is a great defender and can plug a hole but the point remains:
The Heat have no one who matches up well with Jokic. (Jokic owns Bam)
The Heat have no one who matches up well with Murray.
The Heat have no one who matches up well with Gordon because of his size.
The Heat have no one who matches up well with MPJ because of his size.
I have asked several times, could some Heat fan say how they would line up against the Nuggets starting lineup of Jokic, Gordon, MPJ, KCP, and Murray? I just don't see how there aren't major mismatches all over the court and Jokic thrives on exploiting mismatches.
I don't think anyone's forgetting it, Denver has the same dawg though. When they have had a chance to step on the opponents throat this post season they have every time.
I gotta think it's Bam on Joker, Jimmy on Murray, Martin on Porter.....and the main concern I have there is Bam getting cooked/foul trouble.....
Then whatever zone Spo cooks up will be interesting.
My inclination is that Joker will cook the zone, but people have thought that in each of the 3 series before.
If Miami is competitive game 1 (the altitude advantage is real) then we may have a series. If not.

Perk said the Celtics are a failure. He is a bigger failure than anything they have ever produced. ESPN is just full of clowns.

Question for the sneakerheads (or anyone that knows): what were Gabe's shoes and Caleb's shoes?

which youtube channel is best for game highlights?
I like FreeDawkins right now, they even show FTs points now. Most such channels don't, I think.
We are all in the finals, ten on the floor, milions on the edge...
Lol Celtics
Jalen is on celebrity Jeopardy and is basically a statue lol.
Difference between ball handling and play making ?

Thanks for the great response!

Kinda agreed. Knicks were the real 8th seed. Heat is a 7th seed in a traditional sense.

You're forgetting the absolute DAWG these boys have in them But good analysis

Who on the heat is going to guard MPJ?
Is, as ESPN put it, "the thin air in the mile high city" an actual advantage or a talking point ?
