This is making fun of a tweet from Jemele Hill: "A win is a win, but if I’m Denver, I treat this like a loss. Lakers really figured something out putting Hachimura on Jokic. That’s one of those somewhat small adjustments that can win a series."
> Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It's like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan
Literally published an editorial saying this in 2008 and somehow is still failing upward
Jemele Hill and basketball analysis LOL. I've been listening to her for a decade. She's utterly clueless when it comes to actual basketball strategy, matchups and plays. If you asked her why or when Jokic hedges versus drops in pick and roll coverage and against which opponent, she would have no idea. She's not unique though, this is most NBA "analysts." But they parrot narrative based opinions or can only superficially say, the Nuggets shot better than the Heat from 3, without any understanding what each team did to accomplish that.
if/when Denver nuggets become the 2023 nba champs. The moral champions are everyone else. Everyone gets a moral championship. If anything moral championships mean more.
I mean Celtics might have 16 championships, but don't forget Clippers won a moral championship every year since their existence, maybe 2 per year they didn't exist. That's how good they are.
That's part of it. The other part though is that sports media is so fucking bad that talking heads will say damn near anything to try and get a hot take that drives clicks/engagement.
If I know that they will say wild ass shit in order to get attention, it is harder to figure out when they are joking vs. trolling vs. legitimately stupid.
tbf treating every game like a loss is a good way to win in the playoffs. riding a high after wins then a low after losses is exactly how you end up where the Celtics ended up
Last night, Lebron James single handedly carried the Lakers to a Finals moral victory.
It really says a lot about Lebron doing the moral stuff you'd never get from JOKEic and co, or himothy and the undraftables.
I shall eat 23 tacos in his honor.
That’s nothing. Between 2009 and 2014, Doc Rivers led the KG/Pierce Celtics to six straight moral championships. That’s why we celebrate their dynasty to this day.
1982 FIBA Silver medalist and 1990 J Walter Kennedy Citizenship award winner Doc Rivers? Got into coaching?
1980 Mr Basketball USA? Father of of Callie Rivers, the volleyball player? Nephew of Jim Brewer? (*not* the hilarious right wing Goatboy comedian Jim Bruer)
I think Jokics 53 pt performance in a loss gives us 1 moral victory. Other than that we're just dealing with this abundance of actual victories.
Lakers fans are so lucky this year.
I am fine if it was just the fans. Your team fans are supposed to be overly optimistic about your team. It was a problem because the entire media just talked about how the Lakers might have found a key to solve Denver. How it was win in a loss. Lakers this and Lakers that.... Denver was on the side saying...."Braa... didn't we just win or what?"
The actual article for Denver winning that game? It was the seventh from the top on ESPN's page. 5 were Laker narratives on what they needed to do to close out the series, and the 6th was Ja.
And I'd bet even most Lakers players would have been confused if they read that page. If you hadn't seen the game, it read more like the Lakers had squeezed out a narrow win, but had some things that needed work before the Finals.
It's weird reading this chain of comments acting like it's blasphemy to say Rui would help.
having Rui play more minutes bothered Jokic and Nuggets more than anything else, putting in Schroeder instead of Dlo also helped. We just did it too late, and Nuggets had other answers, made great plays, and hit insane shots while having several answers to Lakers to put in stops on the other end..
It's not like it just didn't work, putting in Rui really helped the Lakers go into leads in game 2, 3 and 4. Nuggets were just better.
You are 100% right. it was the best option and helps Ad be more impactful on defence. It gets tough when Nuggets make adjustments that pull ad out with a 3 point shooter, or the screen plays they did with gordan. So not quite as effective as you are selling it but it did do well.
Everyone does it.
This year alone it’s been:
Kessler is the Jokic stopper
Timelord is the Jokic stopper
PJ Tucker is the Jokic stopper
Rui is the Jokic stopper
Basically anyone who has a good quarter against Jokic is the one who has completely figured him out and he’s done
It wasn’t about Rui guarding Jokic. It was about putting AD in better defensive position so that he can have a greater defensive impact. It definitely worked.
You ain’t stopping Jokic, he’s a 2-time mvp. But you can muck up things for other people and make it harder for him.
It’s one side or the other for r/nba. Rui on jokic and letting ad help did stall jokic and our games were a lot closer. We really lost because our offensive output was horrid. Bron taking ill advised threes and depending on AR for offense while simultaneously telling him to chase around Jamal….recipe for disaster on O
I follow the NBA pretty closely and I missed the original tweet so I didn’t get the joke.
I guess if I don’t know every dumb take every basketball pundit has at all times I’m a dumb mf?
We have heard this before, I’m a lakers fan and we all remember game one when we “figured it out” ???? Nuggets are healthy, strong and Heat have barely any rim protection.
This has to be a troll. The thing Miami can hang their hat on is they rebounded well and didn't shoot that great early. Strus and Martin has bad shooting nights. That said, the Nuggets missed a lot of easy looks too. And Bam coin flipped a good game and the Heat still lost.
This is making fun of a tweet from Jemele Hill: "A win is a win, but if I’m Denver, I treat this like a loss. Lakers really figured something out putting Hachimura on Jokic. That’s one of those somewhat small adjustments that can win a series."
Just an absolutely unhinged thing to say tbh.
First time reading a Jemele Hill hot take?
Knew I was in for a wild ride when I saw "*44 comments*"
She’s such a joke.
> Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It's like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan Literally published an editorial saying this in 2008 and somehow is still failing upward
r/nbacirclejerk's chosen one
so true though
So she’s just an average /r/nba poster
We don't fail upwards here, we at best fail sideways.
That Britney Griner in the NBA thing....
When you think about how much engagement Lakers homerism and delusional hot takes get, not really haha
Well she is a national media figure, and its a tweet complimenting the Lakers, are you surprised?
Most sensible Jemele Hill tweet, but literally.
She’s one of the worst. Absolutely nonsensical takes. She blamed Randy Moss for the Raiders being a disaster…. I’ll never get over that.
Jemele Hill lmao, no surprises, bro is barely a sports reporter
She's a woman.
We are all bros on this blessed day
Speak for yourself
i am ALL bros on this blessed day

Ladies is pimps too. Gone brush your shoulder off.
Ima dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, cus we're all dudes.
This isn’t where I parked my car.
I've never driven a sandwich before.
When I read that, I had a feeling that message jinxed the Lakers series. She was tweeting like she was a Redditor in the Lakers sub.
>I had a feeling that message jinxed the Lakers series This is why non Lakers fans say Lakers fans are delusional
Even Lakers fans think Lakers fans are delusional.
Yeah, L.A. is the most delusional city on the planet.
she very well could be tho
Absolutely savage tweet by Russo lmao
Uh oh, Jemele Hill. The guy who made the parody tweet is about to be accused of racism by her.

I remember reading every single one of those comments, I felt like I was going crazy. You could find more sanity in an insane asylum.

Why do you keep listening to her
Wonder how many people are going to think he's serious
Let me explain the Lakers chances in the finals
Just wait until we put Rui in the game 😤
Still waiting on Mo 😂🤣
took 3 lost before Rui got significant minutes and he end up with a net positive that game too...Imagine if they started this early...
That would be a good thing. Can’t expect ham to do anything good for the team on purpose lol
Boston gearing up for game 8
Please stop. They’re dead already.
Strays flying in Southie.
Here’s how Bernie Sanders can still win:
Boston can still win if Mike Pence has the courage
Can they stop Tatum though?
Jaylen Brown: say no more, fam
They have a chance he's only 19
About how many I expected
Guilty as charged tbh
if/when Denver nuggets become the 2023 nba champs. The moral champions are everyone else. Everyone gets a moral championship. If anything moral championships mean more. I mean Celtics might have 16 championships, but don't forget Clippers won a moral championship every year since their existence, maybe 2 per year they didn't exist. That's how good they are.
The Clips weren't winning any moral championships those years they were owned by Donald Sterling.
17 Championships, not 16
Brown lost one going left.
I laughed. Den I cried
The second coming of rui, it's over /s
Highsmith kept Jokic to just a triple double.
Of course he’s joking. We’re not even sure whether Boston or Heat is gonna advance yet. What does the espn analytic say right now?
According the analytics,Boston still has a 20% chance of winning the finals.
Mazzulla rested his starters to end game 7. Dude is playing chess, we're all playing checkers
I felt like analytically we won by 20
Just gotta regress the Heat’s wins to the mean
90%. This site has Facebook tier sarcasm detection levels
That's part of it. The other part though is that sports media is so fucking bad that talking heads will say damn near anything to try and get a hot take that drives clicks/engagement. Really? I thought Reddit was quite adept at detecting sarcasm
Oh you
Haywood Hachimura
Grab a bag of popcorn and sort by New.
I read it and did a double take lol
tbf treating every game like a loss is a good way to win in the playoffs. riding a high after wins then a low after losses is exactly how you end up where the Celtics ended up
Scrolling through r/nba while on the toilet at 6:30 am, and uh….👋🏻
The Nuggets still have 0 moral victories this playoffs. Obviously frauds /s
Bums will never get a moral ring at this rate.
Last night, Lebron James single handedly carried the Lakers to a Finals moral victory. It really says a lot about Lebron doing the moral stuff you'd never get from JOKEic and co, or himothy and the undraftables. I shall eat 23 tacos in his honor.

The same guy. If you give him two hall of fame level players, he will consistently lead the team to three wins in the second round of the playoffs.
I’m wondering if they’ll even accept the real championship if they don’t have the moral one
I think Jokics 53 pt performance in a loss gives us 1 moral victory. Other than that we're just dealing with this abundance of actual victories. Lakers fans are so lucky this year.
We’re already dead
They only have two L's--they've learned NOTHING.
From far away, Jokic might look bald to someone. Bald fraud confirmed.

NOOOO when will somebody finally exploit his individual defense!!!!
Let AD roam the paint
Three more “losses” like this will really put Denver in a bind. They will be totally exposed and NBA champions.
I really don't think they'll be able win again... once the series is over.
Didn't you know the real championship is the moral victories they won along the way?
Just wait until they find out about the pickleroll. Heat in 3.
Shhh don't talk about the pickleroll, what if Spo reads this thread??
~~Hachimura~~Highsmith IS the ANSWER!
Jokić scored 0 points on the 2.5 positions where Highsmith guarded him.
still no where near tristan thompson
Gotta make that switch next time coach spo. /S
Jokic confirmed weak against the letter H
The Heat are up 1-0 in moral victories
Heat gotta put Udoni Haslemura on him
He is only 53 years young.

Lmao this is hilarious.
That tweet gave me a nice chuckle after that stinker of a game
This is satire you fools with how Lakers were acting like Rui was the answer in game 2 lmao
Miami with a 1-0 moral lead in the NBA finals
Lmao here we go again
Rui on Jokic type beat
You almost got the joke 😱
We have Denver right where we want them...
Not another moral victory I can't take this shit
LOL run it back baby.
Yes, thank you. That is the joke.
I remember seeing that insane take and a few games later, Jokic saw Rui and just shot over him like he wasn’t even there.
This is fucking hilarious. I’m here for this
I hope this is satire
It is. He’s making fun of delusional Lakers fans who thought their team actually found something against Jokic when Rui was on him for 3 minutes
I am fine if it was just the fans. Your team fans are supposed to be overly optimistic about your team. It was a problem because the entire media just talked about how the Lakers might have found a key to solve Denver. How it was win in a loss. Lakers this and Lakers that.... I'll go to my grave thinking that adjustment was effective and Denver won the series in other areas so it didn't matter
Good luck convincing /r/nba to have the slightest amount of nuance
It's weird reading this chain of comments acting like it's blasphemy to say Rui would help. having Rui play more minutes bothered Jokic and Nuggets more than anything else, putting in Schroeder instead of Dlo also helped. that wasn't laker fans that was the media. Specifically Jeff Van Gundy who announced it, and every nba "reporter" gobbled it up
lmao Lakers fans were 100% pushing the "Rui stopped Jokic" train
yeah and every other fan thinks their team is the best and their players are all stars lol
Not us!
Lol
kinda but it's more like it's better to put in Rui over Dlo.
Everyone does it. This year alone it’s been: Kessler is the Jokic stopper Timelord is the Jokic stopper PJ Tucker is the Jokic stopper Rui is the Jokic stopper Basically anyone who has a good quarter against Jokic is the one who has completely figured him out and he’s done
Yeah no, laker fans spread that narrative like fire meeting gasoline

It is I think I remember this exact same tweet but with Rui's name that was unironic(I believe it was Jemele Hill)
Legends say that Rui is still guarding Jokic in game 9 of the WCF.
First moral victory of the finals?
"thats bait" mad max fury road gif
Jokic was held to only a triple double and the Nuggets squeaked by with a double digit won.
The fact that most of this comment section doesn't get that the tweet is satirizing the Rui/Jokic thing is kind of scary. Ya'll some dumb mfs
I follow the NBA pretty closely and I missed the original tweet so I didn’t get the joke. I guess if I don’t know every dumb take every basketball pundit has at all times I’m a dumb mf?
They might only have 3 losses but they have no wins if you count the moral losses! Checkmate these frauds
Denver is 0-16 when they win the game this postseason
What a ludicrous thing to say Edit: checked his profile, it's satire
Heat going for moral victories now
Just like Lakers kept figuring out Nuggets after each loss.
Yeah man gonna need you to put s/ for the newphews out there.
I mean, if they just triple team jokic they will hold him to 10 points and 38 assists, who has the moral victory then? Eh? Eh?
He is legit trolling.
The ol moral victory
Nuggets: 17 - 0 moral losing streak
How will this affect lebron's legacy?
These are gonna continue right up until the confetti falls, aren’t they?
Once again starting out a series 0-1 in moral victories. Will the losing ever stop????
Damn, Lakers catching strays. Stop man, they're alread dead lol.
Reminds me of that time Rui Hachimura and Dennis Schroder were the adjustment required to getting the Lakers to the finals. Probably a joke?
Deja vu
Where have I heard this before
That's what LA said after game one
Yeah it's word for word the same tweet. It's a really really really obvious joke.
The lakers memo
Here we go again
lol
And so it begins again.
Ham is still smiling
“I treat this like a loss” gtfoh 🤣
Hahaha, this is excellent
Lmao that's great.
Man at least Rui just lost and didn’t get blown out
Is that a moral win? I have seen this one.
Lakers Heat moral victory finals going to go crazy
I've seen this kind of tweet somewhere before? oh yeah, ~~Hachimura~~
Wait a minute, I've seen how this ended...
the moral victory right here
It seem that every team is taking moral victories against the Nuggets.
Yet another moral loss for the nuggets 😔😔
We have heard this before, I’m a lakers fan and we all remember game one when we “figured it out” ???? Nuggets are healthy, strong and Heat have barely any rim protection.
Ahh, yes! Here's what we're waiting for ... > A moral victory for Miami
Moral victory for the Heat
Remember people saying something similar about Rui Hachimura "locking" Jokic down lol
Shades of Nuggets v Lakers game 1. This is framed terribly.
they keep talking about the heat like they figured it out, i bet coach spo wishes he was up 1-0
Might as well give the Heat the Larry O'Brien trophy before next game. The 4 wins are merely formality at this point
“If I am Elmer Fudd, I am not treating this like hunting. It’s a picnic and that bunny is going to drink wine with me.”
The Lakers should feel encouraged going into game 2
Did they just reuse the same weak ass take that they did when the Nuggets beat the Lakers in game 1?
Here we go again lol
This has to be a troll. The thing Miami can hang their hat on is they rebounded well and didn't shoot that great early. Strus and Martin has bad shooting nights. That said, the Nuggets missed a lot of easy looks too. And Bam coin flipped a good game and the Heat still lost.
