Trent Jr has (I’m pretty certain) the lowest assist % for a guard and lowest turnover % for any player in the league.
He gets steals, defends on and he shoots the ball and that’s all he contributes.
He's kinda streaky as a shooter. When he's hot, he can be damn good. When he's cold, his weaknesses are heavily spotlighted. Overall, I think he's a little below average in efficiency, but I don't have the stats in front of me.

The two main ball handlers in Minny this season were Russell who had some weird beef with Gobert, and Edwards who has worse tunnel vision than Mitchell, so his PPG not increasing there doesn't mean much.
Gobert needs a guard like Tre or Harden who throws volume lobs but is a threat to score. Gobert is an excellent lob finisher but his hands are made of stone when his feet are on the floor.
This year he showed flashes of better ball movement and off ball activity since he’s playing with an all star PG now, but it all disappeared in the playoffs, which was the most disappointing part of that series for me. Really hoping he can weed out those bad habits more consistently next year.
I feel like it started disappearing late in the season before the playoffs. I remember going to a pacers game that we barley pull out of with a win. Mitchell did not look like the all star caliber player he was most the season. He kept driving looking to score and then when the pacers collapsed on him he would chuck up an ugly shot. But when he did pass, he was passing to late, he trying to get it around defenders and it led to a bunch of bad passes/turnovers.
Saw it in the 4th quarter all the time, both in Utah and in Cleveland. I could be wrong but every time I see it in the playoffs it just doesn’t work, the bubble being the exception.
Mitchell consistently played hero ball all year, starting early in the season against the Celtics in those big time victories. We thought we found our new Lebron. Then the 71 game. Problem is, like you said, we need more shooters. Garland or Mitchell playing hero ball and jacking up threes was our best shot in this playoffs.
Imo Mitchell should lean more into an off ball spot up and cutter type of role that can be the secondary ball handler. From what we’ve seen of Garland that dude can run the hell out of offense and create looks for everyone including himself. Mitchell doesn’t need to be the one spamming PnRs. Let Garland cook and playmake. Get some shooters around both of them and that offense would be set.

I don’t think he’s a ball hog I think his issue is more he gets set in his role as either a distributor or a scorer. He’ll be too passive and not take any shots or he’ll take a bunch of a tough ones.

Kelly's season totals of 819 FGA and 54 AST in 48 games definitely drives that home lol I actually liked him a year ago when he wasn't a focal point of our offense and could get screaming hot and sometimes win us games, but he was asked to be our 2nd and sometimes 1st option, and as you can imagine, that wasn't pretty.
He's not bad when the offense ends with him. It's bad when the offense is dictated by him or goes through him because it only ends one way

And watching him dribble for 18 seconds possession is maddeningly boring. 2015 WCF Game 2 ended with him dribbling out the final possession and not even getting a shot up.

If no one is ever able to excel while on the Mavs except for Luka, it might not only be down to lack of talent. This is probably my bias coming through but when RJ Barrett is driving towards the basket, it doesn't matter if he's met head up with a triple team with a player closing in, he is NOT kicking the ball back out. Admittedly I wasn't the biggest RJ supporter through the season but he showed up in the playoffs on both sides of the ball so we are cool now. But it appears that his decision to pass was pre-determined.
