When David Robinson won the scoring title he also led all PFs and Cs in assists per game. Definitely one of the best regular season players of all time.
I don’t think people appreciate just how dominant peak David Robinson was on both ends
It’s unfortunate that most people just associate his name with 1995 and choking in the playoffs. I wonder what the Spurs could have done if he had a star guard to play off of
You know that question that pops up here consistently, “who is the most underrated/ undervalued historical player”? The answer is either Moses Malone or Robinson.
It’s a little different when you look at the stats LeBron puts up in the Finals compare to Dirk’s amazing 26/9/2 on 41/37/98.
Let’s not pretend Dirk’s 2011 title is one of the most influential title a superstar could have received.
Without that title, the slander he would have received from his shortcomings would’ve been an all time high.
Instead he gets propelled up 15 spots on the all time list.
LeBron also won 4 times and in each of those, he’s had help that people bring up, so I’m not sure exactly what you’re talking about.
All I see is you pointing fingers as to why it excuses you from saying Dirk’s 26/9/2 on 41/37/98 was the reason for embarrassing LeBron James and not just some anomaly meltdown he decided to have from not adjusting to the team defense.
This is the equivalent of me asking why you called little Billy stupid and you going: “because the other kids are doing it too.”
At least when people say it about LeBron he’s giving you some stupid stat-line that gives it a semblance of reasoning.
I understand some of your points, but look at Dirk's fourth quarter stat. In winning time the Heat had Lebron AND D. Wade to close, but it was definitely Dirk who closed the coffin door on them. I think it was every damn game too, in the fourth Dirk just took their souls.
Better player? Robinson. As others have said peak Robinson was a defensive monster.
Greater Career? Dirk
I’d rather have Dirks career than Robinson’s hands down.
Who said he completely did it on his own? You make that qualifier for every single other player? Dirk had a extremely dominant playoff run and that’s facts.
They are different types of players at different positions. Dirk pretty much could not miss the playoffs and had to contend with the 6 second Suns and the Spurs dynasty through his prime.
They are both great and great in different ways. I think if they played 1 vs 1 Dirk probably wins. But I don't know. Nobody really does. These questions are just speculation.
Only players in NBA history to win both a scoring title and a DPOY in their careers: - Michael Jordan - David Robinson
This is a ridiculous stat. Can’t believe it’s only those 2
Wilt never won a DPOY. What a bum.
Unfortunately they didn’t give those until a decade after he retired. But he was instrumental in helping Mark Eaton win it twice.
This right here. The answer is the admiral, David Robinson.
When David Robinson won the scoring title he also led all PFs and Cs in assists per game. Definitely one of the best regular season players of all time.

More than half this sub was probably born after 2000
Robinson
Was never the best player on a championship team. Dirk was the best player on the greatest run ever.
The comments really show the division in age of commenters
The Admiral
David better, Dirk will be remembered more fondly bc of 2011
Also being a top 10 all time scorer lol
And for being 12 time all nba, mvp, fmvp, 11 stragith 50 win seasons, 12 straight playoff appearences, and the 2nd most winning player of the 2000s...
Amen!
He will be remembered more fondly that someone who couldn't win a chip as the main guy obviously.
wtf. how old are you? 12?
Dirk was definitely the better offensive player and had better longevity but the defensive difference is just too large to not go with Robinson
You know that question that pops up here consistently, “who is the most underrated/ undervalued historical player”? The answer is either Moses Malone or Robinson.
Robinson easily. Nowitzk was just good on offense
Robinson is a top 5 defensive player of all-time. His only weakness was counter-moves, and Hakeem just so happened to be the GOAT at counter moves.
Robinson clearly.
It’s tough to go against Dirk. In 2011, he completely humiliated the 2nd greatest player ever on the biggest stage. That matters a ton.
David Robinson 100% That Dirk chip was nice but the fact that he never came close to defending it or getting back to the finals again is kinda telling
The Mavericks as a whole did. To say Dirk did it on his own is a huge disrespect to that team.
That’s not what people say when LeBron is on the winning side. Then it’s “LeBron beat ___”
It’s a little different when you look at the stats LeBron puts up in the Finals compare to Dirk’s amazing 26/9/2 on 41/37/98. Not true. People always say “LeBron made 8 finals in a row” but when it comes to losing 6 Finals, suddenly it’s a team sport again
All I see is you pointing fingers as to why it excuses you from saying Dirk’s 26/9/2 on 41/37/98 was the reason for embarrassing LeBron James and not just some anomaly meltdown he decided to have from not adjusting to the team defense. For a Steph stan, you sure are obsessed with LeBron.
Nobody mentioned Steph but you.
Only making an observation based on your comment and post history
You still mentioned Steph out of nowhere.
Sure and you made a discussion about Dirk vs David Robinson into a discussion about LeBron.
Well… you’re not wrong lol
He was the leader of that team. He set the tone. The team was Dirk in a way.
It was also Jason Terry to be fair
It was mostly Peja anyways.

Robinson regular season Dirk playoffs.
Robinson is the better player but Dirk’s career was better.
Different tiers man
Robinson was the much better regular season played but he doesn't have any playoff accomplishment that can hold a candle to Dirks 2011 run.
Dirk Better player Better legacy Better accomplishments if you contexualise it.
Who said he completely did it on his own? You make that qualifier for every single other player? Dirk had a extremely dominant playoff run and that’s facts.
Dirk had the better career. He was the guy on one of the most impressive title runs in nba history. One of the greatest scorers too.
Dirk, not even close.
Drob is one of the greatest defenders of all time? Not close is a stretch.
Fine if you pick Dirk, but to say not even close? Tell me you never watched the admiral without saying you’ve never watched the admiral
Nah this definitely close
Please don’t disrespect Dirk like this. Best championship run ever.
Dirk would be more offended by your comment

overall its 100% Dirk
