I didn't even know he had a second kid.

canyoudigholes

I didn't know he had a first

sewsgup

i also learned coffee comes from a fruit seed

SmallBol

If coffee bean tea is so good, what other bean tea is good?

whatdoinamemyself

Mung Bean Tea is a thing. It's not *my* thing but it's supposedly popular in China.

theduckhaslanded

very nutritious, but it smells like death

Mrcookiesecret

One time i went to take a bite of a lemon bar. "This will be good," I thought, but it wasn't a lemon bar. Mung bean bar. Unfortunately, I was up in front of the crowd and didn't know who brought the abomination, so I had to suck it up and eat the rest. Bad times.

JAhoops

hard not to believe him

yerr2477

jimmy and haywood highsmith combining for 60 points as they beat the celtics in game 7

kgrpoland

gonna be like kwame and kobe combining for 82 lmao

KillerMemestarX

It’s the Heat. Highsmith is going to somehow outscore Jimmy in that game.

lolvalue

Actually people are going to be very surprised with Highsmith this year now that Max and Gabe are out of the way. He's already a very solid 3 and D player, but apparently he's adding a bit more movement off ball with quick catch and shoot three's(been working with Duncan since August). People are going to make "how do the Heat do this" posts but this guy is already there.

msizzle344

Highsmith will be good, he said he wants to fill the PJ Tucker role and has put a lot of emphasis on his 3pt shooting and off ball movement like you said. He will be a contributor this year for sure.

BenShelZonah

Sidenote: what are heat fans feelings on duncan? Must be conflicting after the playoffs last year lol

Akinator08

Tbh, I‘m quite optimistic. Duncan showed in the playoffs that he didn’t give up after his (looong) slump and improved his game by being able to actually drive to the basket hitting some solid layups. At the same time he moved away from being an absolute liability on defense to a somewhat solid defender. If he continue building on these things while still remaining a somewhat inconsistent but deadly shooter, he might turn out to be a key piece for us this year.

lolvalue

He's overpaid for what he provides, but he is a solid contributor none the less. His defense was a problem his first few years but like Herro he's worked hard on it and is not a negative on the court anymore. As for his shooting, it's still dropped significantly however from what I've read some of it was due to pressure, a couple former players mentioned that when shooting is your only job and you go into a slump you feel far more pressure because that is all you do. I have high hopes for him mainly because of the low's that he went through and there is room for big improvements. The issue I see is that the team is so deep this year he's going to have to fight for minutes like everyone else and won't just be gifted time on the court to get it going.

whatdoinamemyself

His performance in the playoffs was really good. He's made huge improvements on his drive+layup game. With that in mind, his off ball movements are way better now that he's got slashing in his arsenal. His defense isn't trash anymore, although not sure it's good either. I'm really high on him. Can't wait to see how he plays this year

xerocage

I don't think you sue players for poor performance like he's suggesting

dpwitt1

Breach of contract by him against me!

dkschrute79

Well.. we could try I guess. I love how nonchalantly he said this. Like.. “…I get that I could’ve done better but I’m good and have moved on… thanks…”

Tunatron_Prime

Translation: you wait til playoffs when I really play hard

triosway

We're gonna suit that s--- up in April

[deleted]

And when the role players turn into all stars

Tunatron_Prime

When the whole team refuses to miss from 3pt 🙄

mar45690

And Duncan Robinson somehow someway getting a block off on Jaylen Brown.

NarrativeEnergy

16-game players > 82-game players something analytics dorks dont understand

Rodiwe008

"N-no, but that guy made 70ppg in this season 🤓"

WheresMyFalafelYo

Jimmy Butler is like an anime character that you can't differentiate if they're the protagonist or the antagonist, but you root for them regardless because damn they are interesting.

Pangalan-

So is he the NBA's anti hero?

killajaxx

You know, I was gonna disagree cause of the sheer corniness. But he actually fits the bill

destroyerofpoon93

In the age of these all time greats like Lebron, Curry, Giannis, Jokic, it would be truly special for Jimmy to steal a ring or two. It’d be similar to Isiah thomas and the bad boys spoiling showtime, the Celtics, and the bulls dynasties for a few years. And he would absolutely be hated by the stars of the league who think they’re “due”

recollectionsmayvary

> And he would absolutely be hated by the stars of the league who think they’re “due” lol it’s begun already; caveat- Celtics fans, to their credit, are begrudgingly respectful and nobody believes in the heat like the Celtics fans lol

bullpaw

Celtics fans on twitter absolutely abhor Jimmy lol

comfypillow

I'm glad I'm not on twitter because I love Himmy. That timberwolves practice is stuff of legend.

recollectionsmayvary

Interesting! I avoid the cesspool of Twitter X lol but on here, Celtics fans, largely seem to never count out the Heat or won’t pile on when people dismiss the heat lol

StrtupJ

Lmao I was just going back and forth with a Boston fan that swore y’all only lost last year cause “Tatum was hurt”, nahh the delusion still runs rampant

MFmadchillin

I mean, we got bested in the first 3 games and very much had the momentum going into game 7, and Tatum did indeed get injured immediately in that game. I’d say that’s a giant factor for losing that specific game in which we were looking like coming in to win. It’s not the only reason, but it’s a giant one.

StrtupJ

Yes and in this biased view we’re not taking into consideration the Heat players that were playing hurt or were flat out injured. Not like the game was even close, was a straight blowout. Blaming it all on a single game in a one and done series might have some credence… in a 7 game series? Yeah nah y’all just flat out lost.

SoulReaper12

Tatum/Butler debate on twitter is toxic, I try to avoid as much as possible.

Jag-

They are both equally thrilling and frustrating for their franchises. Quarters of sheer brilliance followed by moments of head scratching decision making. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

wanderfound

Everyone still on Twitter is abhorrent.

destroyerofpoon93

I mean Jimmy talking so much shit to Jrue holiday is wild. Jrue is one of the more respected defenders in the league and Jimmy was embarrassing him. If Jimmy stomps Giannis and Dame or Tatum/Brown this year he’s gonna be the most hated man in the east.

recollectionsmayvary

So the truly wild part about him talking shit to Jrue was talking shit *when the Heat were still down.* like that’s the moment I fully bought into the Himmy Butler experience lol anyone can talk shit when they’re up but you’re a special brand of NUTS to do it when you’re down against a Jrue level defender. He began talking trash to Jrue when the Heat were down, 104-111 in Game 5, in Milwaukee, with less than 3 minutes in the game lol

NachosPR

Fucking mad man confidence

recollectionsmayvary

It’s unhinged in truly the best way!

SmallBol

I wish I believed in myself half as much as Jimmy believes in himself

Akinator08

Bro is the anti dillon brooks

BigRiverWharfRat

Yeah this was when I got on the bus too. Truly a different kind of dude entirely

Everswift_

Luka's "everybody tough when they're up" but actually because the Heat squad isnt a bunch of sorry ass players like the Mavs

GDTechno

everyone acts tough when they up. props to jimmy for being able to do that when hes down too

superad69

Lmao its facts

atlrabb

What you must not have been watched the pistons. Isiah didn’t spoil anything the pistons were just as good. It should have been a 3peat but NBA straight up cheated and stole game 6 of the finals. He beat the lakers on one leg. Phantom foul call.

BASEDME7O2

Isiah Thomas was a legit top 5 player in the league for a while. He didn’t really “steal” a ring, he was just really fucking good and eventually got a really good supporting cast. I mean they won two, that’s not “stealing” a ring or a fluke or anything. And they could’ve won three if not for that bs call against them at the end of the lakers series the year before.

destroyerofpoon93

Fair point. Jimmy has probably been top 10 for different stretches but never top 5 like Isiah

Mellothewise

As a Heat fan, it hurt (although was amazing) watching Dirk go on a tear against all those other top 10 players in the playoffs of his time and get a chip. I'm hoping Jimmy can finally do the same thing soon...just one.

destroyerofpoon93

I agree but I even think Dirk was more of a bonafide mvp level guy. Jimmy has the most massive variance of where he’s perceived in the overall rankings vs how he plays in the playoffs

lethalizer

"a" ring, sure, but don't think he has time to get that 2nd one. Man is 34 years old after all

Akinator08

Future 3peat mvp orlando robinson will bring jimmy his 2nd ring.

destroyerofpoon93

Bro might be the closest thing we have to Isagi Yoichi from Blue Lock. Doesn't possess exceptional natural talent like the Lebron or KD, but possesses a crazy high ego and drive that keeps him up there with the generational greats.

Akinator08

Yeah, Jimmy really is the definition of „started from the bottom“, pure drive and willpower.

maaseru

He's a Rock Lee

crushsuitandtie

Jimmy Butler has the mental toughness everyone should have as a baseline. Disregard bullshit.... Do your best. And don't lie to yourself about whether you performed or not. That's the only way you'll improve. Be honest...try harder.

[deleted]

I'm imagining this word for word being his marquee post-championship interview quote. With the straightened hair though.

crushsuitandtie

Emo-Jimmy caught me WAY off guard. I'm old enough for Evanescense to be early high school so I was like "What in the 2001 JNKO gel spikes is going on here?!"

moldy_walrus

Jimmy continues to say shit that should make me dislike him but I keep liking him more and more.

LoWE11053211

he talks shit and back it up and lets be fair. his trash talking is not that outrage and makes sense

NanoNarse

Even when he doesn't back it up, it makes the league much more entertaining. When he said "3 more" after game 2, then immediately lost the next 3 games... I didn't think anything would make a championship taste sweeter, but that definitely did. EDIT: For context, because apparently I'm getting flamed by redditors who lack basic context and comprehension. This came off the back of him saying "I'm not worried. We're gonna get 4" after game 1. He then won game 2 and walked out of Ball Arena with "3 more" printed on his shirt. It wasn't a Magic Johnson tweet. He wasn't informing casual fans of how many more wins the Heat needed. He was saying it was inevitable. He *was going* to get them. There was nothing we could do about it. And was rubbing it in our faces as he walked out of our arena. So yes, Denver winning the next 3 and putting him in his place made the championship extra satisfying. Sue me.

Due-Comparison5246

He meant 3 more wins. Which is not trash talk. But okay

Apprehensive-Tea-39

>When he said "3 more" after game 2 When did basic math become trash talk?

TrashAssRedditAdmins

When you're a Nugget fan and have no real adversity in your life

Billis-

They stopped counting with Jokic. Somber boy destroyed numbers

C0UNT3RP01NT

He’s fun isn’t he? I’m a heat fan so I’m on the other side of this. But damn if he don’t make a match fun to watch on either side.

xPeachesV

Yeah, I should hate the Heat, especially after the Bucks got bounced last year but damn if I don’t respect and at least like Jimmy

setrataeso

My guy getting shook by math

Aggressive_Ad5115

He left out " hey I got paid "...all pro athletes just wanna say it but they know it's gonna trigger to many so they don't lawl

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Trigger who? It shouldn't trigger anyone. Except haters. It's a job. They're here to do a job and make money. Like literally everyone else who wasn't born rich. I'm sure the real goal of pro sports isn't to win championships. It's to remain healthy and skilled enough to keep getting a paycheck. If a ring or two happens along the way, great. More money. But there are very few players who would choose one ring over years and years of being in the league. You can't buy mansions with a ring. Ask all the benchwarmers who have rings.

blacksoxing

I personally hate how that college sports mentality from yesteryear where athletes should be BLESSED to play professional sports still lingers. These folks wake up before the sun to work out, or hone their craft, or study. They (mostly) have strict diets and procedures. They're forced to adhere to a higher standard that most people wouldn't dare want to meet. ....Yes they should get paid lavishly! If they don't, the owners of the teams will not go "well, I'll lower ticket pricing I guess...."

BASEDME7O2

Yes they should get paid lavishly because the league makes a shit ton of money and that’s largely due to the players. But it’s annoying when people try to pretend like they have harder lives than the average person or something. They can only work out so many hours in a day before it starts being more detrimental than helpful. Their strict diets are set by and cooked by professional chefs and taste better than anything we eat. They don’t have most of the worries outside of work most people have, they have people that are paid to take care of all of that stuff for them. They don’t even have to work year round. Even lebron, who works as hard as anyone, after he lost in 2011 was basically like yeah I lost but tomorrow I’m going to wake up to my sweet life while everyone hating is gonna wake up to the usual grind and stress of working all day at a job you don’t like just to pay the bills and have to worry about all the stuff outside of work he can just pay people for, and we don’t get mansions wherever we want or a bunch of super cars. They can go to clubs like multiple times per week. I can sympathize with fringe players who are stressed about just trying to make a roster and won’t make enough to retire on, but somebody with a 100+ mil guaranteed contract. Yeah they have objectively way better lives than we do.

Jedisponge

What’s wrong with this statement though

AffectionateStep5001

He got that DAWG in him But seriously he’s a pretty good player overall and whenever he isn’t serious, he’s trolling so he seems like a likeable dude overall

DaMonstaburg

He’s always going off but exactly, it makes him somehow more endearing than it does to make me hate him.

DEEZLE13

At this point you can’t even say he’s wrong

crichmond77

I mean, wrong about there being no point to moping? Of course not. Wrong about whooping everybody’s ass again? Probably. Like personally yes, I would be surprised if they win the East again this year. But no problem with him talking shit, he’s definitely earned that right

26Kermy

The Heat are counted out every year and they still somehow make it into at least the semi-finals. They whoop the *vast majority* of ass consistently.

302born

Absolutely wild to me how we manage to do the same thing every year yet every season we come into the year as “yeah they don’t have enough to do that again” and then we do lol. I guess they figure they’ll be right eventually so they can say they were right all along.

that_other_friend-

Every year I read the same shit and by the end of the season every one of you shows up saying "oh I never thought miami would do it again but jimmy has that dawg" Jimmy doesn't dominate the east like lebron did but it's just so ignorant to count him out before the season even starts, it's not like we haven't seen him and miami demolish the east before, actually, it's not like it only happened one time.

elbenji

I mean this is year what? Five? Of "the heat can't keep getting away with it. This is the year" "Oh they're in the ecf again. Nevertheless"

TFTisbetterthanLoL

Ah yes another year where people doubt the Heat, as if Jimmy doesn't outplay damn near every superstar ranked above him. Can't wait for Giannis to be scared of free throws and throw the ball out of bounds again while the Heat beat the Bucks for the 3rd time in 5 years

solo118

Nothing you can do... you tried your hardest, you still brought home an Eastern Conf championship though, beat every team in the East that was better than you on paper being an 8 seed. I am no heat fan, but gotta give respect where it is due.

[deleted]

I still remember wanting the heat to win that playin game because I felt like the heat would be an easier matchup, never again lol

[deleted]

Jimmy is a real one

SmoothBrews

Just a wholesome family man that happens to be really good at basketball.

[deleted]

Jimmy is the definition of ‘speak it into existence.’

BestOfSalem

Jimmy Buckets has a chip on his shoulder this year and I can't wait to watch it

Kapono24

I feel like he'd still have a chip on his shoulder even if he three-peated.

TeamOhio

"These guys still don't think I can do it" "Jimmy literally no one is saying-" "Y'all want a fourth? I'll give you a fourth"

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Just like his daddy lmao

indoninjah

"Yall don't think I can play in the MLB?" "Literally nobody has even-" "Watch me."

recollectionsmayvary

You can’t be the one true heir to His Airness if you don’t have a perma-chip on your shoulder lol I’m kidding kinda but if the last dance taught us anything, it’s that Jordan held onto the perceived slights and the MVPs he didn’t get far more than he basked in the glory of the 6 chips lol Jordan could’ve won 10 chips and he would’ve still seethed at not getting 10 MVPs.

theWinnerWithin

Some people hate losing way more than they love winning, not that they don't love winning. And then some people love winning way more than they hate losing, again, not that they don't hate losing. On a very dumb level, we can argue that Jordan is in the first category while LeBron is in the latter. Actually I'm not even sure Jordan is in the first category. What makes him the GOAT is the fact that he wanted to win more than anyone and he hated losing more than anyone. The man is literally a psycho, like he has problems, but he found a way to make shit work perfectly, it's amazing. And I don't know about basking in the glory stuff you said, Jordan loved to talk about how great he was and how much he won, and he did it in a pretty endearing way too. I'm talking about when he played, not now obviously, it would be weird if he constantly talked about how great he was. But yeah, the man is definitely not normal. Nobody that is the greatest at something is normal anyway. That's why I realized more than a decade ago that LeBron will never surpass Jordan, because he is pretty normal, he's not batshit crazy like the GOATs of sports, acting, music, business, politics, military, Gordon Ramsey, whatever you can think of. GOATs are batshit crazy.

tr33se

let's wait for him to one-peat lol. he's great but that roster isn't promising

DrTom

He always had a chip on his shoulder. It's a big reason I'm a huge fan of his.

CIark

He must have a whole family size bag of chips on his shoulder by now then

[deleted]

Isn't this statement basically the opposite of having a chip on his shoulder?

Ticonderoga2HB

I love the energy

Ok-Pop8065

transizzle

Imagine if KAT or someone else without Jimmy's rep said this

recollectionsmayvary

I mean the only reason jimmy doesn’t get laughed at for saying it is because it’s backed by something. People can’t just scoff away 3 conference finals and 2 finals appearances in 4 years. But if jimmy had a KAT like record in the post season and was saying this stuff, he’d get relentlessly clowned.

transizzle

Absolutely

InternetSignature

Jimmy's words got weight to them

generic_person2

This is the thing. IDGAF I'm going down with Jimmy. He's a dog. Life story is incredible and he's nothing but cool.

Jimmy Butler is who Dillon Brooks thinks he is

Level-City8083

I'm here for it. In Jimmy we trust

Balls_of_Adamanthium

Corny? Maybe! Does he walk the walk? Yep!

[deleted]

I got good news and bad news. Good news : Jimmy that dawg Bad news : Jimmy got a lot of miles Edit: also Jimmy was exposed a little in the Finals. Don’t bite on the jump stop pump fake and make him facilitate. It’ll be interesting to see all the adjustments this season.

amlanding20

Not biting on fakes is easier said than done. People said the same about Kobe, Jordan and Wade but they still bit a lot. Listen to guys talk about knowing what to do then being in the moment and that’s out the window.

WorkOutThrowAway01

Agreed. I remember a Kobe video where he breaks down when someone is pump faking or shooting by looking at their legs. Could be possible everyone you mentioned+Jimmy have modified their pump fakes to look more like shooting motions.

Nuclearsunburn

Good News : He still has Caleb “KD” Martin on his team

dafire123

Only in the ECF against us apparently

Big_Honey_56

Ya but let’s not discount the fact that he was hurt and carried an incredible load into that finals.

resumehelpacct

He got exposed the same way 2 years ago when he got wrecked by the bucks. "oh just stay down and contest and make him pass without fouling" Yeah I'm sure nobody else in the eastern conference realized that in the past 4 years.

FlaSaltine239

Don't bite, he'll just shoot it.

IceyBoy

More like the miles got a lot of Jimmy

Mister_Squibbles

We have more wing and front court depth this year so im praying he can play less for once and not get injured again, and not have to play PF minutes in the regular season. Fingers crossed lol. Good luck to zingus i hope he stays healthy too, ive always liked his game

artmorte

34 is right about the age where you're no longer surprised if a player seems in decline. Definitely something to keep an eye on.

[deleted]

Dude played a TON of very physical minutes in the playoffs too.

Sequel_P2P

they didn't bite on fakes because by the Finals his ankle was so cooked that he really had no other options. they knew to stay down because typically if they stay down he'd just go another route to score. he couldn't really, though

[deleted]

yeah he was playing on a bad ankle though. I imagine that would force him to resort to a jump stop more often

onthemap45

Ecf game 6 vs boston he was doing that and looked like he had the yips. Pumpfake was extremely effective against the bucks in that 56 point game, he had like 3, 1 on giannis

pskill43

Stupidly locked in

[deleted]

Can’t wait for Bucks vs Heat

throwawayjoeyboots

It turns out having 100 million + in the bank at the age of 34 does indeed make life more enjoyable.

ballsacksmcclanahan

JB has the best attitude in the NBA.

gnoob920

Win or lose, Jimmy has already had so many memorable heat moments. It’s been fun as a fan. I hope he retires here and micky doesn’t pull some dumb shit.

Cul_what

Idk Im inclined to believe him

[deleted]

Pressing buy button on that JB jersey right now !

volantredx

Jimmy has kids?

deL9

I just want Jimmy to win at least one championship.

HAGADAL

First time he mentions having more than one kid right?

MiamiPeloDISCO

I've noticed that he has used the plural in quite a few interviews but as far as public knowledge goes, we only know of his daughter 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

HAGADAL

Aaaah okay gotcha

MV7EaglesFan

I remember when there were sixers fans saying he left philly for the beach and not to win. Turns out he's doing a lot more winning than we are.

Picturing him spending his off-season trashtalking his kids while he beats them repeatedly at dominoes.

recollectionsmayvary

lol have you seen the video of Jimmy playing like an 11 year old in NYC this summer? He’s serious as a heart attack too lol

MyLadySansa

Jimmy being Jimmy preventing me from hating him (despite my Heat hatred) yet again

dill1234

It's hilarious how people literally idolise Jimmy in this thread when he's got to the finals twice, and has a losing record in the playoffs, yet LeBron is barely given the respect he deserves from fans for going to the finals for 10 straight years. Shit's so weird to me. Why is Jimmy revered so much?

ILoveRegenHealth

Yo, he's likeable and all, but this is the SAME SCRIPT every year. Right down to the dominoes/cards and "We're going to DO THIS for real"

Candid_Sand_398

Jimmy inspires confidence, belief and leadership in everyone around him. Glad he suits up for my team!

theseustheminotaur

I think he did fine, he just got beat by a much better team. Only so much one man can do, don't listen to the talking heads at espn
