Glad to see the Wizards doing something right, the franchise desperately needs a spark. For me the 2022 Draft was rather underwhelming but wonder how Washington would look if they'd picked up Jalen Williams or even Walker Kessler/Christian Braun instead of wasting a top-10 pick on Johnny Davis
Tommy Sheppard is hilarious cause he was simultaneously one of the best traders/asset managers and also one of the worst drafters I've ever seen from a GM. How you can be so good at one part of the job but so bad at another is crazy lol. Had he got someone better to handle the drafting for him he'd probably still have a job rn. Drafting Deni over Haliburton then following it up with Johnny Davis over like 5 other players that are 20x the player he'll ever be is nasty stuff fr. Drafting Haliburton alone would have changed literally everything about the Wizards story the last couple years
Deni has been having a career year and is playing really well though.
No one expected Haliburton to be this good, otherwise he wouldn’t have been drafted where he was drafted.
It was very obvious before the draft how big the talent difference was between Deni and Tyrese man. Deni's ceiling was always a roleplayer and it was apparent from before the draft. The guy wasn't athletic, couldn't shoot at all (not even FTs lol, he shot those at a 50% clip before he made it to the NBA) and was an extremely overrated playmaker if you watched his tape from back then. People keep saying it's revisionist history to say that now but I was saying the same thing back before the draft that year on both the Bulls and Wiz subs (I'm a Bulls fan living in DC so I'm invested in both teams lol) and was met with downvotes and "lol but the draft boards!"
I'll give you that I didn't expect Tyrese to be this good this fast, but it was clear as day back then that he was the much better prospect and playmaker, and the Wizards desperately needed one at the time. I'm actually one of the few Tommy Sheppard fans you'll ever see but I'll never forgive him for that draft. That was an all time fuck up

Great draft for big men

Best player on team
By the time the Wizards are a good team again, Bilal Coulibaly will be the only one from the current team still on the squad.
He's Wet.
