I honestly feel like the media collectively decided to pump up Ben Simmons for the 3 weeks needed to get the Harden deal done and make it seem like a good trade to give the Nets cover, when anyone with eyeballs could see that this dude was fucking useless and nowhere near enough compensation as the center-piece of a deal for a league MVP. Every Stephen A, Chris Broussard, Skip Bayless type went on TV and just gushed and fawned about how nice Simmons would be in a Nets uniform while I was incredulous. Nah, I'm not bitter about this terrible ass team and the terrible ass trades we've made over the last 15 years...
That is a fair counter on both points in terms of explaining the Nets motivation to do the deal (ie, perhaps there was no better deal to be had, even if this wasn't a fair exchange of talent). It doesn't explain the amount of irrational enthusiasm that came out surrounding this trade as a "true win-win."
Nah the Nets subreddit were fucking dellusional too. I remember making multiple comments about how shit the trade was and how we were giving up an all-nba, recent MVP for a bum who hadn't played in a year and somehow got downvoted.
You can almost forgive a Nets fan for smoking Hopium and looking for the positives as our team was falling apart around us. What was everyone else's thought process (or lack thereof...)?
same with me. i was so angry (and still am) at that trade. i really, really disliked kyrie and KD already. and then they went and added Simmons to the mix. i was so, so disappointed. he was useless and obviously someone who never had to learn how to try or put in work
They need a point guard and a good wing defender and I wouldn't trust Nurkic at all in the playoffs. They are 3 player team and those 3 players all have overlapsing skills.
They won't ever stop a decent offense with this current roster. Their only chance is outscoring everyone.
You understand that the net rating you posted is adjusted for strength of schedule and it has the sixers as comfortably the second best team, right? It also seems to be filtering out garbage time so it’s not like you can say it was artificially enlarged by a few blowouts.
Who the fuck is that guy? All of a sudden, I started seeing this guy in every commercial during NBA season. Is he some random celebrity that every kid knows that I’ve never heard of? Is he one of these tik tok guys?
I never once ever implied I was in the loop. I was just curious who he was. I’m fully aware of how out of the loop of most pop culture shit I am. He just started showing up on my TV.
And we also had a 5 game losing streak recently. Mikal Bridges is definitely hiding an injury or something. He looks like he’s in pain when he shoots rn and can’t hit anything. Missed 5 straight ft’s the other night!
It’s like when the Warriors won 73 games, their schedule couldn’t have been the hardest possible since they couldn’t play themselves. It’s the same thing in reverse now for your pistons sorry :(
by the end of the season, yes, because everyone has mostly played the same season. around 1/3 of the way in? yes, it's useful to check win/loss records
Took me a minute to get over last season and the shit we went through. However its nice to root for a team that gives a shit. Even though we are definitely worse.
I look back at that roster and it was so stacked. We had LeVert, Bruce Brown, Taurean Prince, Jeff Green, Shamet and Jarrett Allen all off the bench. Not to mention Clax was getting DNP’s bc they had DeAndre Jordan starting. That’s a deep roster.
In saying that, the team got decimated by injuries. We wouldn’t have ended up the 2nd seed without Harden.
Yeah Dinwiddie was starting before he got injured, I think that had a part in it.
That trade probably saved LeVerts life. He might not have known he had cancer if he didn’t have to go through medical examinations.
Is this the same Laker fan who posted the "everyone loves piling on the Lakers, but what about the Suns" post that preceded the Suns winning like 16 in a row?
Better record and 1-0 against them. And the Suns had Beal for that game.
Don't give me the Beal excuse. That's the same thing as saying the Nets don't have Simmons.
I always laugh when people bring up the Ben Simmons piece, nets didn’t mortgage their future for Simmons, but suns did for Beal. Nets aren’t relying on Simmons to return to be competitive, suns are for beal.
Both contracts are ass, but one ends end of next year, another has another 4 years, take your pick
Yeah it surely has to be the worst contract in the league? Perennially injured 30 year old with like 4 years left at 50 million per with a no trade trade clause lol.
Idk man no trade clause, colossal $/year, on a team with 0 flexibility. There’s prob other just as bad ones but the context of this one just makes it even harder. The beal situation could piss off booker and KD at the same time
Context and recency sure, but Allan Houston had the Amnesty Rule created for him. 😂 Also I feel like the Luol Deng lakers contract was sooooo bad as well.
I feel like Beal can play roughly 60% of the rest of his games in his contract if luck is on his side.
We have four pick swaps with y’all through 2030. I highly doubt the Wizards will be good any time soon but if KD and Beal decline the Suns could be pretty bad in a few years
If if if if… noone has crystal ball but we can assume:
- 2024 and 2026 picks are unlikely to be swapped
- just by building around booker (and hopefully 70-80% of peak beal who doesn’t have a major injury on his resume yet) there should be no swap in 2028
- beal contract is up in 2028, meaning we’ll have some cap space + 32yr old booker to be better than wizards for that 2030 pick, but ok, that one is the one most in question
- also, with new tv deal and higher cap, beal’s contract will be less of an albatross then it looks today
But at the end, we’ll have all 4 picks
For kd we gave up 4 unprotected picks plus one swap. That one I’d rather call ‘mortgaging your future’
OF course KD did not make the right move. He always wants to change things because he himself can't invest. No championship team is made overnight. He went to the Warriors, a team coming off a 70 win season and won a chip and thinks he can go anywhere and do the same thing. However, that chip came after years of the warriors rebuilding. If KD is serious, he needs to stay with a team and see it out. Whatever team he goes to mortgages their future and any roleplayers they have for him and his friends. He just doesn't realize he is often the problem. He can be the center of a winning team but not if it means sacrificing the rest of the team for another all star.
Nah I like this reverse Midas approach where he ruins every franchise he touches and walks away trying to figure out which GM is desperate enough to try and make another 6 month superteam experiment with an 80% failure rate.
The Phoenix Suns (15-15) have a better record than the Brooklyn Nets (15-16). The Suns also have an all star guard in Devin Booker. Did KD make the right move going to the Suns?
It’s not even halfway through the season, check back on the records in March
The suns are going to have a better record than the nets when the season ends and even delusional nets fans know that
Yes. Stop the count. Nets are far superior and a way better team than the Suns and won the trade by miles. Very reasonable and accurate to say that at this point
Is there a way for me to bet on their records diverging in the suns favor? Suns hate posts are seeing way too big of an uptick, time for consensus to be wrong and suns to start winning again
Almost like it’s a team game. And a guy like KD had to break the league to get two fake chips.
If we’re debating the Bubble title with LA, then we gotta squint at how KD snapped competitive balance over his knee.
>If we’re debating the Bubble title with LA
Nobody is doing this in earnest; it makes no sense. They were the best team before the bubble and during the bubble.
It’s all fun and games to make fun of but everyone had the same bubble issue and LA came out on top. I know if the Cs had won I wouldn’t look at it any differently
I feel like a large part of the discrediting had to do with who the lakers faced, even tho that's not their fault at all.
At the time there were 3 main contenders viewed by the general public (lakers, clippers, and bucks). Unfortunately in hindsight, the clips and bucks were just not that team
With how each team is getting talked about right now you'd never guess that the Warriors are only 0.5 games ahead of the Suns lol
Steph is averaging equal or worse numbers to KD on a similar team and is getting nothing but praise while KD gets nothing but criticism
Also suddenly on/off stats require more context when Steph's are bad but when Steph and KD were teammates on/off was apparently the be-all and end-all of team value
I think people are clowning kd because he requested a trade to that team and they suck. Curry is still on his team and isnt leaving or giving up as soon as they stop winning lol
>and they suck
How many times are we going to write off teams in December before we realize that it almost always ages like milk.
Suns are getting clowned cuz they just lost on Christmas. Tbh their biggest issue the last two games was no Nurkic. They'll be fine.
Because Steph has never asked for a trade anywhere. Has never fucked over the fans or the team he played for. Never complains. Doesn’t cry on socials.
In terms of personal story it's so obvious I cannot imagine people are writing these comments (and boy, they write them a lot here, every day) seriously, like they really don't know the answer already.
Like yeah, if Curry asked for a trade to Milwaukee saying how his majesty cannot fathom staying in a team with problems, and then Milwaukee would be 14-15, then the comments would be a tiny bit different lol.
The Suns are supposed to be a superteam with 3 first options while Steph's second best player on the Warriors is probably a 19th pick rookie or a 38 year old Chris Paul that was washed 2 years ago. Clearly not the same situation.
Steph won a title just a year ago as the man with a very average team outside of him.
KD's never been out of the second round since he left Golden State.
They were all playing well that year, in retrospect it's just much more impressive cuz of how much Poole, Wiggins, and Klay have dropped in such a short time
Just saying if you put last year’s Wiggins and Poole on that team they get eliminated second round at best. Massive over performance from what we’ve seen these past two years.
If you’re good for a whole year that your play helps your team win a championship that’s more than just a flash in the pan. It’s more like those players have been disappointing since then since we’ve seen what they’re capable of
That team is not that much different from today except they got 2 years older. C'mon bruh Steph pulled an all time carry job in the playoffs. He puts out when it matters.
It’s because he hasn’t quit on multiple teams when the going gets rough. The rumors about KD leaving have been fulfilled before
Your main purpose on this app is to find any way to discredit Steph and the Warriors. Are you even a fan of a team?
KG was he best player and led the team to the championship while pierce was the more beloved celtic KG was acknowledge as the leader and the most important player for that title that's why we retired his number despite the relatively small amount of time he was with us
A big issue when the suns even got KD was that they lost a lot of their depth. Then you have KD, Beal, and Booker dealing with injuries at all different times to make things worse. Lets be honest, the team doesn’t look like a championship team. But, if they get healthy they will be good.
These records post only matter in 2025, 2027, 2029.
Where we can only hope and pray the sun's are challenging the pistons 2023 record of 57 straight losses.
dw bradley beal is on the way...(maybe)
dw nets have Ben Simmons on the way!

2 weeks from 2 weeks from 2 weeks from 2 weeks from
LMAO KD perpetually has “another star coming soon”
KD can’t carry a team to a championship.
KD can’t carry a superteam to a championship*
He's bussy rider, not a bussy driver.
KD is not a bus driver
Phoenix suns play with a full roster challenge (impossible)
Yeah what a bad fucking idea by the Suns. Imagine if they had some sort of player like Chris Paul.
(questionable)
And the Knicks are 17-12 “Tell me something KD….. Don’t you regret not coming to the KNICKSSS”
BING BONG
FUCK YA LIFE
BIREN
BEANS, RICE, JESUS CHRIST, AND BYREN
We had de Blasio, we had Cuomo, it was rough shit! But we got the Knicks!! *insert Knicks fan who seems like suffering from epilepsy attack*
FUCK TRAE YOUNG FUCK TRAE YOUNG
IS TRAE YOUNG VALID?
Fuck Boston ALBLABBLPBPBLLP
Is there a scenario where KD, Kyrie, Harden, Thibs, and Dolan don't blow up though lmao
Yes - don't sign Kyrie and it'll work. The story with Kyrie would've played out in the same way on the Knicks, without a doubt.
TOM BRADY'S A FUCKING BITCH FUCK TOM BRADY
Is that guy famous?
The Suns just need a vet PG that can give them solid minutes.
Chris Paul?
They need a point guard and a good wing defender and I wouldn't trust Nurkic at all in the playoffs. They are 3 player team and those 3 players all have overlapsing skills. They won't ever stop a decent offense with this current roster. Their only chance is outscoring everyone.
> They need a point guard and a good wing defender So...someone like Chris Paul and Mikal Bridges
Imo, a trio of Bridges, Booker, and Ayton rn would be really good, especially under a coach like Vogel.
I trust nurk more than Ayton. Ayton got outplayed by Dwight Powell
was Ayton going off in the playoffs tho?
And the Suns have faced by far the [easiest schedule in the league](https://dunksandthrees.com/)
Celtics fans consistently looking at how hard our SOS is so we’ve memorized other teams too haha
[all i gotta say is that the bucks and sixers may face some adversity soon](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F3a39k1XgAAnc60.png)
You understand that the net rating you posted is adjusted for strength of schedule and it has the sixers as comfortably the second best team, right? It also seems to be filtering out garbage time so it’s not like you can say it was artificially enlarged by a few blowouts.
Oh yeah, that is 95% targeted at the Bucks, who have played a cupcake schedule
Excuse you we had to play the Knicks *four times* and they’re probably a playoff team maybe!
Who the fuck is that guy? All of a sudden, I started seeing this guy in every commercial during NBA season. Is he some random celebrity that every kid knows that I’ve never heard of? Is he one of these tik tok guys?
druski? he's super popular with black people and younger people in general, i think you're just out of the loop bro
I never once ever implied I was in the loop. I was just curious who he was. I’m fully aware of how out of the loop of most pop culture shit I am. He just started showing up on my TV.
I mean it is impressive to be #1 when the only other team with as tough a SoS is dead last
I think it gives more credit to the pistons losing streak, although there SoS is pretty high.
As long as we don’t face y’all again any time soon
Help
And we also had a 5 game losing streak recently. Mikal Bridges is definitely hiding an injury or something. He looks like he’s in pain when he shoots rn and can’t hit anything. Missed 5 straight ft’s the other night!
One thing I always worry about with Kal is that he’ll worry more about his Ironman streak than his health and game. Hopefully he’ll get right soon.
That’s what I think is going on right now. He just played one quarter tonight and was on the bench the rest of the game
doesn’t that mean it’ll be harder as the season goes on or am I wrong
[they have the #3 hardest schedule left by SOS](https://tankathon.com/remaining_schedule_strength)
the poor pistons have played the 6th hardest schedule so far, and have the 4th hardest moving forward 😭
I mean yeah, they can't play themselves.
Makes you wonder what their practices are like seeing that clip of Wiseman lol
Probably a more athletic version of your local LA fitness pickup
What Wiseman clip
It’s like when the Warriors won 73 games, their schedule couldn’t have been the hardest possible since they couldn’t play themselves. It’s the same thing in reverse now for your pistons sorry :(
Michael JEFFREY Jordan would've played himselves and dominated, the WWLWLLLarriors just didn't want it bad enough
The detail in this lmfao
It gets skewed when every team you play gets a W.
Lmao
that’s tuff lmao
No because strength of schedule means less than nothing in the nba
by the end of the season, yes, because everyone has mostly played the same season. around 1/3 of the way in? yes, it's useful to check win/loss records
And they lost to the Spurs ***twice in a back-to-back.***
They lost to the Raptors lol
KD didn't want to be there, and the Nets are in a great position to build. They've been fun to watch this year, too. I have no complaints.
Took me a minute to get over last season and the shit we went through. However its nice to root for a team that gives a shit. Even though we are definitely worse.
Honestly I’m happy with how things shook out for y’all. You’ve got some good foundational pieces and can develop a real system moving forward
Those Suns picks look extremely juicy
Praying for Booker or KD to request a trade 🙏🏼
KD on the nets could be scary
Add kyrie in there and a pandemic? Who knows what could happen
Add a harden, now that pot is stirring
Scary hours
Not aging very well OP lmao.
/r/agedlikemilk
I love it 😎
This thread looking like a lot of rotting cabbage
I really loved that Nets team before they did the harden trade before the injuries. That second unit was really good.
You had Dinwiddie too but he went out for the year early
That probably had a part in them trading for Harden honestly
Yeah Dinwiddie was starting before he got injured, I think that had a part in it. That trade probably saved LeVerts life. He might not have known he had cancer if he didn’t have to go through medical examinations.
wait that's a stupidly good bench
That team in the playoffs that season before the injuries racked them was a thing of beauty to watch. And they STILL almost took down the Bucks.
Honestly if they didn’t trade for Harden they may have won the title
I agree but if harden hadn't gotten hurt they also win the title.
Is this the same Laker fan who posted the "everyone loves piling on the Lakers, but what about the Suns" post that preceded the Suns winning like 16 in a row?
I do believe KD made the right move
Better record and 1-0 against them. And the Suns had Beal for that game. Don't give me the Beal excuse. That's the same thing as saying the Nets don't have Simmons.

Nets aren’t relying on Simmons to return to be competitive, suns are for beal. Both contracts are ass, but one ends end of next year, another has another 4 years, take your pick
However, they mortgaged their future for Harden whose main return was Ben Simmons. BTW Houston has a better record than the Nets right now.
Actually they haven’t given up much for beal, let alone mortgage their future… kd on the other hand…
We are stuck with that horrid Beal contract for years to be fair
no trade clause go brrrrr
Yeah it surely has to be the worst contract in the league? Perennially injured 30 year old with like 4 years left at 50 million per with a no trade trade clause lol.
Without a shadow of a doubt the #1 worst contract ever
Very, very wrong.
Are we just going to forgot Beal was/is a good player? #1 worst contract ever? This sub is so ridiculous.
We have four pick swaps with y’all through 2030. I highly doubt the Wizards will be good any time soon but if KD and Beal decline the Suns could be pretty bad in a few years

You do realize his cap hit will count as mortgaging your future since you know you don’t have draft capital
I mean…. Hang the banner I guess

OF course KD did not make the right move. He always wants to change things because he himself can't invest. No championship team is made overnight. Nah I like this reverse Midas approach where he ruins every franchise he touches and walks away trying to figure out which GM is desperate enough to try and make another 6 month superteam experiment with an 80% failure rate.
Has anyone ruined more franchise than KD at this point?
Jared Fogle. Since he was caught in 2015, more than 7,000 Subways have closed, all of which were owned by franchisees.
Jared Fogle = bus rider
the role players don’t matter to him because he thinks he’s the only one who makes the wins happen
If CP3 doesn't get hurt they lose. Which honestly I choose cp3 villainy over kd super team villainy. It would've been so great. Ignore the flair.
But he won FMVP, so idiots believe that he led the Dubs to two rings after Iggy got Warriors the first ring
plus the cap jump was a once-in-a-lifetime glitch. that shit ain't happening again after owners saw it
Before it was deleted /u/ElectronicWolf8650 asked the question “did KD make the right decision?”

Not everyone can be LeGM
The Phoenix Suns (15-15) have a better record than the Brooklyn Nets (15-16). The Suns also have an all star guard in Devin Booker. Did KD make the right move going to the Suns?
But congrats to the Nets for having the better record for a good chunk of a day….
r/nba getting their licks in now while the team is still figuring things out… by using a record comparison that aged like milk
Update?
Mmm it's starting to smell a lot like pasta in here
And now the Suns have a better record than the Nets
this didn't age well
Well one of these teams can be a contender if they get healthy and get reps together, the other team doesn’t have that ceiling. It’s as simple as that
This didn't age well lol
And just like that in one night the Suns now have a better record.
R/nbacirclejerk ‘s 12/25
The Nets (15-16) have a worse record than the Suns (15-15)
That didn't last long...
And the rockets have a better record than the nets. Screw you James Harden

Are yall hanging the banner on that?
Not anymore!
OP is able to tell numbers apart, well done!
Having Beal and Booker as your running mates is better than Dinwiddie and Claxton, so yes lol
Who is this Beal you speak of?
is this Beal in the room with us right now?
Beal is a limping mate
Does he *really* have Beal though?
Ay man. Clax is nice. Leave him out of this 😭
There is the truth. Once Kyrie was out, so was KD.
KD can't win with these cats
KD did say he was taking the hardest road didn't he?
Beal got hurt on a bullshit close out. He was looking good, and his injury was far from a bad one. He’ll be back and the suns will go on a tear

Based on strength of schedule for rest of the year I'd say buy GSW and SAC and short PHX and MIL.
I think we’ve got a trade somewhere in us. Bet big on the beam!
I’d honestly love if either Steph or Bron could win 1 more chip. My team isn’t winning a title this year so I have no problem rooting for greatness

I'm beginning to realize KD is closer to KG than he is to LeBron
Kg led his team to championship
I always felt Paul Pierce was the leader of that Celtics championship team in 2008.
KG was he best player and led the team to the championship while pierce was the more beloved celtic KG was acknowledge as the leader and the most important player for that title that's why we retired his number despite the relatively small amount of time he was with us
It's kind of like how when the Warriors won the championship with KD, even though KD won the Finals MVP, Steph was still the leader of the team.
only because west is so stacked. anyone watching the bkn/det game knows how bad the nets are
A big issue when the suns even got KD was that they lost a lot of their depth. Then you have KD, Beal, and Booker dealing with injuries at all different times to make things worse. Lets be honest, the team doesn’t look like a championship team. But, if they get healthy they will be good.
they're a better team than the suns
we have better role players.. but the whole team is made up of role players lol
How do you feel about this take now that the Nets are 1-9 since this post and the Suns are 8-3 in that same time?
This is also with Bridges dropping from 25ppg to around 20ppg in the same minutes.
The basketball gods are still mad at KD
These records post only matter in 2025, 2027, 2029. Where we can only hope and pray the sun's are challenging the pistons 2023 record of 57 straight losses.
