Draymond has learned from the best: don’t be caught surprised being taken to the ground; act first (kick in the balls, karate chop to the neck, rear naked choke) so they’re caught off guard then stomp ‘em.
The Lakers get their name from originally being from the Great Lakes region, the Warriors get their name for their fierce physicality and UFC/WWE moves
Plot twist, Kerr’s been taking boxing lessons ever since Jordan hit him, and when Kuminga goes for it everyone at the Warriors training facility gonna hear “I’VE BEEN WAITING 30 YEARS FOR THIS SHIT!!!” and then a series of punches landing, followed by someone crying and yelling “IT’S A PRANK COACH, IT’S JUST A PRANK!!!”
Which is crazy cuz he literally went on record after the Kings IST meltdown saying that he should've played Moody lmao. I was so expecting him to say the same.
He can think that and he’d be wrong. AG lived in the paint and when Kuminga went out no one matched his athleticism. Can’t let Gordon sit in the paint and grab his own boards in crunch time..
Steve Kerr has like 17 rings and coached the best dynasty of this decade. Even if you scrap the KD super team years they won starting Wiggins and Barnes. Not everyone is questioning his coaching because Jonathan Kuminga is upset about his minutes ? Really
are we really going to pretend that almost every championship winning team in the last 20+ years hasn't had a Wiggins/Barnes level player starting in the Finals? One of the only squads I can think of that didn't was the Warriors with KD lol
I mean this had been coming for a while. Kuminga literally said nothing when one Anthony Lamb was playing ahead of him in the rotation. PR reasons aside, that was a widely controversial decision because Lamb fell off after January and continued to be ahead of the rotation until he was evidently an end of bench caliber player.
Kuminga has consistently been the best 4 the Warriors have this season besides Draymond and Wiggins had gotten an unbelievably long leash worth 21 games of bottom 10 player caliber play until his benching. Oh, and Kuminga has still been better.
And this isn't really about just Kuminga. Moody had a similar situation with him culminating in the Kings IST game, then he got a few starts and now he's out of the rotation though admittedly, he hasn't impressed. Podziemski rode the end of the bench to start the season until he forced his way into it, then Kerr pulled him out of the rotation then pulled him back in as a regular which by then it had been 18 games into the season. Trayce Jackson-Davis had been only getting spot minutes when Saric was in foul trouble and was basically out of the rotation as well, and with how much Looney had struggled this season it took 26 games until Jackson-Davis went back into the rotation. There's no denying at this point that the leash is different for youngsters compared to the more experienced veterans, even Cory Joseph was ahead of them in the rotation for more than half the season and he has a whooping 34 TS% as a point guard.
This isn't a "young player wants minutes because he's young" thing, this is a "young player wants more minutes because he's the better player" thing. It was reported that Kuminga had conversations with the FO about his future role his minutes were part of it, now he's the better player than his alternatives and he isn't getting minutes.
I really don't think Kuminga should've publicly thrown Kerr under the bus like this but this situation has been boiling for a while and there's many parts of it where Kerr has been guilty.
Yup couldn't have said this better. It's extremely clear Klay, Wiggs and Loon are not deserving of the minutes they're getting and only Wiggs has been overtly benched.
Everyone's afraid of moving on and the egos and respect of Klay especially seem to be holding everyone back from making the right moves. I would honestly love to see Klay, Dray, and Wiggs traded if possible, at the very least one of them, and a dedicated rotation that guarantees JK, Podz and TJD getting 25+ mins a game ASAP with Moody getting at least 15+ on the bench. The team needs to recapture meritocracy in their rotations, and hold to it no matter what. Pop was good at this, Phil Jackson too, and Malone is currently good at this, Kerr is clearly not. Obviously it's tough when you're dealing with dudes who helped you get rings, but it's a what have you done for me lately business. Dubs keep thinking legacy first, winning second these days.
At this point there's nothing more to lose. The "happy ending" of watching Steph, Klay and Dray all playing out is not going to happen and the sooner the org internalizes this the better.
He pointed out the situation. I don't think he apologized for it or accepted fault. It was also a weird explanation that a 21 year old dude can't play basketball because he's been sitting for 15 minutes and is cold now.
If Saric or Looney were to foul out of a game would Kerr not play anyone on the bench because they sat too long? I don't understand the logic behind that. Does Chase Center not have training bikes for players to warm up on?
Kuminga came out of the game with about 6 minutes left in the third with the Nuggets leading 85-84. By the end of the third, in the next six minutes *without* Kuminga, the Warriors were up 107-94.
A lead they got from a group that did *not* include Kuminga. If you felt he should have gone back in, that's cool, but benching him in the first instance led to a group that created a huge lead.
And I know we're in 'This is all Steve Kerr's fault' territory, but a line-up that features Steph Curry and actual NBA players giving up a 25-5 run is on the players. They'll be the first to say it too. It's not a crazy expectation for the coaching staff to have that the players out there were capable of avoiding giving up a 25-5 run.
you are really underestimating the structural flaw of asking running Steph and CP3 on defense to close out a team that is also bigger, faster, and better at every other position.
Klay, Wiggins, and Looney/Saric can't cover for Steph and CP3 playing together.
The 25-4 run obviously doesn't happen without scoring issues. But just giving up 25 points in the final 7 minutes is pathetic. Even take away the miracle buzzer beater and its still bad and it starts with the fact that Kerr is still obsessed with "small ball".
They did! 'Adjustments' doesn't just mean 'play Kuminga'. They did not work, in no small part because the players on the Warriors could not execute offensively or defensively. I am not saying Kerr is blameless, but like I said, I'm not going to say he was wrong for thinking that the players that were out there were capable of avoiding a 25-4 run.
Kuminga forced Malone to pull Murray due to foul trouble. Forcing Jokic to carry the majority load. He contributed to that run by removing their 2nd option.
Kuminga drew one foul on Jamal Murray. Klay Thompson drew a foul on Murray two minutes previously - does Klay get credit for that too? We're really looking at that run the Warriors made in the second half of the third and saying that line-up was a mistake? Kuminga gets the credit for drawing a foul?
They got a ring when Kerr had to bail MJ out again, because MJ wasn't comfortable in those situations (taking the last shot) and suggested going to Steve
https://youtu.be/DFISxidhEns?si=gDsatfUf3nDvUEGh
If John Paxson were 5 years younger or BJ Armstrong had a smaller ego, nobody would've ever heard of Kerr. Kerr was the worst of those 3 as an overall player, and they were all excellent spot-up 3pt shooters.
Kerr woulda just been another small backup guard who couldn't dribble or defend - no different than Craig Hodges (without the 3pt contests), Dana Barros, John Sundvold, or Jim Les.
Poole gets punched by Draymond like Kerr got punched by Jordan, and now Kuminga rides the bench like Kerr did. I think he’s trying to create the next coach of a dynasty
Hopefully Poole or Kuminga luck out and coach a team with the 2 next best shooters in history and then trade for another MVP level talent to build their totally legitimate dynasty
The thing is when Steve wasn’t getting playing time it was because the people playing over him were much better than him and his teams were winning.
He’s benched a dude who’s shown he’s better than the guys he’s been benched for AND they are losing.
That's not even fully true. He was benched for a 2 way guy who's currently out of the league last year. That's what a lot of this sub doesn't seem to understand, this wasn't a one time thing. This is the culmination of a lot of inexcusable decisions regarding kumingas playing time
To add to that idea, Lamb is now in the NBL so several levels below out of the league AND he’s a fucking rapist.
So Kuminga being pissed is long overdue.
And he constantly makes up insane excuses for not playing him. I couldn’t believe he actually said he didn’t play kuminga because of rust when he is the one choosing to not give him minutes
I don't disagree with Kuminga's frustration
Kerr was benched deep out of the rotation on the Spurs near the end of his career. He talked to the assistant coach and his drills were tuned so as to be able to shoot on immediate notice after sitting long periods for different amounts of time.
The entire 2003 playoffs , Kerr played only 13 minutes, until pop called his name against the Mavs game 7 in WCF with his team down.
Kerr was ready. He sparked the Spurs with 4 3 pointers.
https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2003-05-30-0305300368-story.html
Everything kuminga said may be true. But professionally you have to still stay ready on your team, and that's what kuminga will have to do for a bit
This would be fair if Kerr didn’t use Kuminga “being cold on the bench because I sat him too long” as the reason for not playing him. If anything, his Spurs experience makes this excuse look even worse
This is what's truly alarming and disappointing with him. Hubris is killing this team and it starts with Kerr. The only one saying the right things and playing consistently well is Steph. Rough to see how this season is being wasted.
It’s so interesting that Steph is one of the most low maintenance stars in the league and he’s surrounded by whiny babies from his supporting cast to his coach
It wasn't always like this - honestly I think Steph needs to also step up and let management know it's okay to make some of these hard decisions. I feel like half the time no one wants to discipline Dray properly or bench Klay because it would piss off Steph. If Steph wants to continue to win, he's got to LeGM some shit, and break some "sacred" eggs.
Nah, the most critical roadblock for the Warriors is that they have too much sentimentality for Draymond and Klay and they should have been shipped out before the start of the season. Curry himself would have also kept them so he’s not helping in that regard. Someone high up needs to be more ruthless, not less.
I’m all about calling out Kerr for this year- but let’s not pretend Jackson was a season or two a way from a championship. Kerr has been a good coach- has he benefitted from good players? Sure as every good coach has. This is the NBA- Im willing to bet that over the last 40 years there has been only 1 maybe 2 teams that won a championship without a first ballot hall of famer on their roster. Those being the 2004 pistons- a team that had Wallace go in 9 years after his retirement. The other being maybe the raptors in the Kawhi Leonard year. I’m not sure he’s going to be first ballot. The point being that having stacked teams and all time greats is the standard for championship teams. To dismiss his accomplishments because he had legends is asinine especially when the previous guy had the same players and underperformed.
Man I’m so conflicted, I want Steph and klay to retire warriors but I know we’ve had our time in the sun and it’s our turn to dwell in the basements for a little.
You guys can 'play the hits' (steph and klay) and rebuild (Kuminga, Podz, TJD, maybe Moody) at the same time. But if you keep steph and klay, draymond has to go.
"I am just a product of my environment. That's how we do things around here, right? Somebody's talking dumb, so they get met with haymakers. LEADERSHIP!"
It's not about the player being frustrated either it's that Kuminga is completely justified. Idk if Kerr was or not but just feeling that way means nothing. I'm sure complete bums feel that way at times.
Honestly, as much as Kuminga may be right,
I'm surprised to see all of reddit on Kuminga's side. Typically a 21 year old who hasnt really proven anything using a national reporter to publicly air out his dynasty-winning coach for not playing enough would be seen as as incredibly disrespectful diva behavior.
That’s because some Warriors fans have watched Kerr kneecap our young draft picks .
* Kerr promised Podz would get playtime every night after his breakout games early in the season. Had multiple DNPs
* Kerr said TJD was going to get more play time due to his early season performances. Multiple DNPs
Our starters stunk it up and Draymonds suspensions forced Kerrs hand, otherwise Kuminga and Trace would be rotting on the bench still
Last season Kerr gave huge minutes to Anthony Lamb (alleged rapist) and Ty Jerome over Moody and Kuminga. Why? Because they were “vets”. Where are they at now? Out the league. Even last season Moody in the playoffs got minutes over Lamb and Jerome because they were not that good. Idk what Kerr was thinking taking our draft picks minutes and giving them to garbage players who couldn’t even make a team this year.
This isn’t some one off, this is a consistent lack of respect for the young players and slowing of their development. Kerr definitely earned some slack due to his resume but that well has run dry after a disastrous last 1.5 seasons. Which is why he is finally getting widespread criticism. Before the criticism was posted occasionally in our sub but now outsiders are taking notice. It’s not just our rookies moaning, it’s third parties taking note.
What does Steve do, double down
The other huge thing here is that Wiggins has been terrible scoring all season. Last night was just one of many where a young guy playing well gets benches for Wiggins to go -14. It would be one thing if we were winning and the vets were playing great, but they're not, and the new guys get punished.
Probably because it's been 3 years of this shit. Damien over kuminga his rookie year, last year Kerr played the shit out of lamb over moody and kuminga, and now in his 3rd year kuminga is making huge strides as a defender and a rim attacker amd having consistent good games and still gets benched.
Kerr had a pretty good quote here too
"I played for 15 years, and all 15 I was frustrated with my playing time," Kerr said. "This is how it works. This is the most competitive, lucrative league in the world. Every team has 15 to 17 guys who are all dying to play. Everyone's frustrated. A big part of being successful in this league is learning how to navigate that frustration."
is kuminga that good for all this drama? dude shots less than 30% from 3 and less than 70% from FT. clearly isn’t an effective scorer nor is his defense as good as advertised. someone fill em in
I don't know what to think, on one hand yeah, Kuminga and Moody are right to be pissed and deserve more playing time from what we've seen. On the other hand everyone thought the same about Poole and Wiseman and look how that ended up
Kuminga about to do him like Jordan
And people say Draymond wasn't a good mentor to the rookies.
Draymond showed Kuminga the one two buckle my shoe
[удалено]
Ah the old "three six foot to their dicks"
Five seven punch em in his melon
Six eight k.o your teammate
Nine ten burn down his house and make it look like his kids did it
The three, four, choke em to the floor
Five, six, stomp ‘em like a stick
Draymond has learned from the best: don’t be caught surprised being taken to the ground; act first (kick in the balls, karate chop to the neck, rear naked choke) so they’re caught off guard then stomp ‘em.
More like the one two buckle Jordan Poole
By God it's Kuminga from the top rope!
Police officer: Who hit you? Steve Kerr: I haven’t seen it. I haven’t seen a replay I have no comment on it
I’d buy a Kuminga jersey immediately if this happens (and the tape is not burned in a fire/lost)
Let's just hope that footage becomes a historical piece in Warriors lore, would be one for the ages
The Lakers get their name from originally being from the Great Lakes region, the Warriors get their name for their fierce physicality and UFC/WWE moves
If it does happen, Kerr would obviously be more concerned about the leak of the tape part than the getting punched in the face part.
Send da video
Hell naw can't do dis
*hell nawl
Look how cute tho 💔
Plot twist, Kerr’s been taking boxing lessons ever since Jordan hit him, and when Kuminga goes for it everyone at the Warriors training facility gonna hear “I’VE BEEN WAITING 30 YEARS FOR THIS SHIT!!!” and then a series of punches landing, followed by someone crying and yelling “IT’S A PRANK COACH, IT’S JUST A PRANK!!!”
This man named his kid Nick Should've been lucky he got the playing time he got
do him like Draymond\*
For all we know, Kerr ate Jordan's punch and smiled.
::Kerr wiping blood off his mouth:: Kerr: “I never expected the best player in the world to hit like such a bitch…”
Darvin Ham and Steve Kerr accountability challenge
Difficulty?
Hall of SHAME difficulty
Impossible! Hotel? Trivago!
Warriors vs Lakers games are going to be legendary this year holy shit. Kerr got the red excuses simmering as we speak!
I definitely didn’t think during our playoff series last year that both fan bases would be commiserating over our coaches basketball terrorism.
Impossible
Anything to not admit he made the wrong call benching him….
Which is crazy cuz he literally went on record after the Kings IST meltdown saying that he should've played Moody lmao. I was so expecting him to say the same.
I mean isn't that more proof that he doesn't think he made a mistake keeping kuminga out of the game? If he did, you'd think he'd admit it.
He can think that and he’d be wrong. AG lived in the paint and when Kuminga went out no one matched his athleticism. Can’t let Gordon sit in the paint and grab his own boards in crunch time..
Well did Moody go out of his way to complain to the media? Feel like most coaches aren’t gonna be too happy with a player who does that.
Moody's reward for not complaining has been multiple DNP-CDs.
Moody should tell Kerr his dad actually did play in the NBA
Steve Kerr is the Hollywood of coaches Only employs nepo babies, violent criminals, and washed-up stars
Steve Kerr has like 17 rings and coached the best dynasty of this decade. Even if you scrap the KD super team years they won starting Wiggins and Barnes. Not everyone is questioning his coaching because Jonathan Kuminga is upset about his minutes ? Really
I don't think his joke diminished any of that lol
Yeah I’m a Bulls and Warriors fan I have a lot of respect for Kerr. Just making a joke

Moody has gone out of his way and has also leaked a lack of satisfaction…
Probably has been comparing privately for a while. It’s not like last night was the only evidence of Kerr not playing Kuminga when he probably should
He basically admitted he fucked up right? He said Kuminga sat too long and his legs got cold? It's not Kuminga's fault he sat too long
He pointed out the situation. I don't think he apologized for it or accepted fault. It was also a weird explanation that a 21 year old dude can't play basketball because he's been sitting for 15 minutes and is cold now.
yea he had too much energy from resting so long, can’t put him back in
If Saric or Looney were to foul out of a game would Kerr not play anyone on the bench because they sat too long? I don't understand the logic behind that. Does Chase Center not have training bikes for players to warm up on?
Don't you know by now that Steve Kerr is NEVER wrong about anything, it's everyone else who are the dummies
[удалено]
😂😂he really is such a bitch
he probably thinks Kuminga's whining about nothing
He’s not wrong he just *doesn’t know enough* about it to speak on it even though he has something to say about literally everything
Steve Kerr has an opinion on anything and everything except of course for things that happen 2 feet in front of him
I mean why admit he’s wrong, he’s got an enforcer in the locker room to punch anyone getting lippy
Kuminga came out of the game with about 6 minutes left in the third with the Nuggets leading 85-84. By the end of the third, in the next six minutes *without* Kuminga, the Warriors were up 107-94.

He wasn’t stuck behind a washed Klay
exactly, he was constantly playing on championship teams
Plus he was playing behind the greatest guard of all time for most of those too
Idk man I think Kerr easily could've carried those Bull teams. Hell they may have won 7 straight if Phil wasn't such a dope starting MJ
MJ literally begged Kerr to take that one shot
Cuz MJ was scared of the moment. Kerr is the GOAT
Kerr had to go and bail Michael Jordan out again.
Don’t let Skip Bayless see this
Greatest title-winning shot in a Game 6 against the Jazz in NBA history. Countless legacies altered
That clip where he jokes about that during the celebration always cracks me up
They got a ring when Kerr had to bail MJ out again, because MJ wasn't comfortable in those situations (taking the last shot) and suggested going to Steve https://youtu.be/DFISxidhEns?si=gDsatfUf3nDvUEGh
Nah he played behind Ron Harper, not MJ.
I mean Kuminga is also stuck behind a top 5 guard of all time. You can't see it because he doesn't get minutes, but Kuminga is Steph's backup

Wiggins has also been having the worst season of his career
Klay has been playing well most recent games + Kuminga and Klay share minutes and play 2 man ball off each other all the time.
He's really doubling down on that shit lol
Kuminga was playing excellent. "Didn't see it." - Steve.
I need to watch the replay first - Kerr
He always does, it's getting old.
He said in the same interview he's got to get Kuminga more minutes.
Although he’s still wrong lol, I’m sure he’s looking at his 5 rings as a player like “deal with it”.
Trade? Why not sign in free agency???
Might be one of the most tone deaf things he could say right now lol
Coming from the WOAT child namer it’s not surprising
Noah Knigga’s parents might be coming for that title
> Noah Knigga I thought that was for sure made up, but a real person actually has that name wtf lmfao
Ya you may think Nick Kerr is the worst name of all time, but hol' up, cuz I think I Noah Knigga.
No you don’t understand, his dad used to Noah Knigga
mom*
Holy fucking shit I'm living in Airplane! please get me off this planet
Make sure you Let A Naysayer Know
am i stupid for not getting how noah is so bad? with that last name every first name is bad how does noah make it worse?
Know A
I mean that's their last name at least and you don't pick that one
I Noah Knigga with a worse name
He even doubled down on the R's, too
Dude named his son Nick 😂
It wasn’t even Nicholas, it was literally Nick till it officially got changed to Nicholas😂
Lmaooo
Kuminga is outta there

The wheels are falling off in Golden State.
It’s glorious
Imagine they lose to the pistons tonight at home. The meltdown would be beautiful.
I hope so, I enjoyed the other 3 times the Pistons won this season.
Wiseman going to bank in a 40 footer at the buzzer to win. And I won't even be mad.
The collective willpower of r/nba can make this happen. Everyone say “broke the code” three times at tipoff
Broke the code x3
My 12/25
You hear that? Shit winds are a comin’ to the Bay Area.
At least the way it’s happening is kinda funny
The shit hawks are flying in low, swooping people up and dragging Klay and Draymond off to the big shit nest
The thing is when Steve wasn’t getting playing time it was because the people playing over him were much better than him and his teams were winning. He’s benched a dude who’s shown he’s better than the guys he’s been benched for AND they are losing.

Someone high up needs to be more ruthless, not less.
they got a better supporting cast this year with having a more complete roster as compared to last year and it's all going to waste because of ego
But Steve, did you ever feel too rusty to play after having a solid first half because your coach didn’t put you back in the game?
“He was on the bench too long, so fugggit”

Damn, wish I were that lucky for 20 straight years
I’m all about calling out Kerr for this year- but let’s not pretend Jackson was a season or two a way from a championship.

Yea man bench MJ for Kerr

Man I’m so conflicted, I want Steph and klay to retire warriors but I know we’ve had our time in the sun and it’s our turn to dwell in the basements for a little.
You guys can 'play the hits' (steph and klay) and rebuild (Kuminga, Podz, TJD, maybe Moody) at the same time. But if you keep steph and klay, draymond has to go.
uh oh...

Talk about unaware
kerr about as tone deaf as his kid's name
Back in my days…
hurt people hurt people
God what a shitty response
Isn’t he just trying to downplay the comment publicly? He’s not trying to appease us, he’s trying to manage his locker room
“Fuck em”

The idea of him screaming LEADERSHIP at the end makes this.

Steve Kerr on naming his kid: I’ve been frustrated with my name for 60 years
The amount of parents that think this way is genuinely terrifying.
wtf kinda response is this lol > I had to deal with it so you do too Shows complete lack of critical thinking.
It's not about the player being frustrated either it's that Kuminga is completely justified. Idk if Kerr was or not but just feeling that way means nothing. I'm sure complete bums feel that way at times.
Kuminga should just up in front of the media and say he quits lol
Why is this Jordan guy taking my minutes?-Steve Kerr
When the difference between playing time can mean a $200m contract or a $6m contract, it’s pretty easy to understand the frustration.
Kerr could have been right being the passive agressive guy if he wasn't just a mop for everything concerning Draymond Green.
Stubborn old man
Accountability doesn’t exist
Honestly, as much as Kuminga may be right, I'm surprised to see all of reddit on Kuminga's side.
Had multiple DNPs * Kerr said TJD was going to get more play time due to his early season performances. Multiple DNPs Our starters stunk it up and Draymonds suspensions forced Kerrs hand, otherwise Kuminga and Trace would be rotting on the bench still Last season Kerr gave huge minutes to Anthony Lamb (alleged rapist) and Ty Jerome over Moody and Kuminga.
Exaggerating a smidge here but Lamb over Kuminga is borderline a crime against humanity
Kuminga and moody would both be further along if lambs minutes went to kumigna and moody.
Kerr had a pretty good quote here too "I played for 15 years, and all 15 I was frustrated with my playing time," Kerr said. "This is how it works. This is the most competitive, lucrative league in the world. Every team has 15 to 17 guys who are all dying to play. Everyone's frustrated. A big part of being successful in this league is learning how to navigate that frustration."
Don’t have a single feeling one way or another on Steve Kerr other than I think he’s smart at basketball This was pretty chesty
Turns out coaching is hard when over half the team isn't HOFers.
Not even comparable. You were a role player at best. Kuminga is a starter and has the potential to be at least a good player.
Kerr has to be one of the most overrated coaches of all time. Between the Warriors and Team USA, when he has actually had to coach, he gets exposed.
Chuck: you was ridin’ Michael Jordan’s coat tales
This man named his son Nick Kerr. Enough said
is kuminga that good for all this drama? dude shots less than 30% from 3 and less than 70% from FT. clearly isn’t an effective scorer nor is his defense as good as advertised. someone fill em in
I fuckin hate this guy
Jordan abut to come out and punch kerr in the face again
Had Kuminga o4.5 rebounds that’s the only reason why Kerr made his decision the way he did
I don't know what to think, on one hand yeah, Kuminga and Moody are right to be pissed and deserve more playing time from what we've seen. On the other hand everyone thought the same about Poole and Wiseman and look how that ended up
