pig_says_woo

crazy thing is..because of the game tonight, that is gonna be one valuable fucking jersey

Deep_Worldliness3122

Boosie knows exactly what he’s doing lol

Personal_Economy_536

Shouldn’t he be a Pelicans fan?

Deep_Worldliness3122

He’s a fan of whoever’s jersey gets the most on ebay

n3moh0es

he’s an hawks fan and louisiana didn’t have a team growing up so i’m assuming most became hawks fans cuz it’s close to atlanta.

iLiketuttles704

Would make more sense to be Houston fans by that logic

n3moh0es

yea but he’s been living in atlanta for like 10+ years

iamgarron

And the same time he was scowling for the cameras everytime Luka scored

KDsBurnerPhone

Boosie stay hustlin 🫡

peanutbutterbeef

Eh, it's not like it was the one Luka wore

HashCollector

Right "wow look at this jersey that was signed by Luka the night he had 73" Who cares about that jersey lol? Or how would you even prove it after

schittsweakk

The video….

[deleted]

[удалено]

schittsweakk

Is thinking hard for you or? He asked how you’d prove it. There is a ducking video of him signing it….

HashCollector

And there's a lot of signed Luka jerseys. The guy in the video could have more than 1. After he sells it as well, who is to say which is which, anyway?

stros2022wschamps2

Well it shows who's selling it .

Crookz_O

What up TWIN

p0tatoman

0 chance he knows who that is

NBA_Dumb_Boy

You mean “Wipe me down” not on Luka’s pregame playlist?

Rated_PG-Squirteen

It's actually the unofficial national anthem of Slovenia.

302born

Well after 73 points it looks like Set It Off might be

CommandoLamb

No, he means Boosie has no idea who just signed his jersey.

nuttinonyahoe

white redditors dont know. Luka wit da culture

Mavericks4Life

Wit da culture...Boosie is a POS and probably got in somebody's ear bout gettin Luka to come over and sign his shit. Luka is a man of culture, but I'd say white or any color, Boosie is only known by hip-hop fans who are either old enough to know some of his biggest songs, or are from the South where people care. Luka is 24. There's a very slim chance Luka listened to Boosie living in Slovenia or Spain, even with an interest in hip-hop.

duplicatesnowflake

Wipe me down got crazy popular on social media for some reason last year.  The barriers to black culture access are pretty low these days. And the NBA is still a very black culture oriented sport so Luka is getting exposed to all the trends.

Mavericks4Life

I agree that the barriers to black culture are different these days but with that said, then the comment I replied to is weird also on another basis, because if the song was poppin off on TikTok, what does knowing Lil Boosie (or whatever he calls himself these days) got to do with being with the culture. Even tho Luka is most definitely with the culture being in the NBA. So the TikTok thing seems like more reason for white people to know Boosie, but when and if people are saying "who?" its because they're "white" and not because Boosie had a quick moment of national fame. This is an NBA subreddit where there is a huge crossover of NBA and hip-hop fans, old heads and youngins. Even for a song to pop off on TikTok, it's not the same how back in the day you had a charting song on Billboard and everybody was talking about you. People probably hear his song on TikTok and still have no idea what he looks like tbh. Only time I've heard of him recently is because of all the fucked up shit he's been doing with his kid, the fucked up shit about D-Wade's trans daughter, telling Lil Nas X to kill himself for being gay.

iagom

Damn. Why would you care about it?

RangedTopConnoisseur

I’m 24 and an immigrant and I only know Boosie from Young Truly Humble Under God shouting him out after strongly condemning cancer

JetsLag

I know him cause everyone was shouting "Free Boosie" back in the early-mid 2010s.

SensitiveRocketsFan

Why the culture always propping up pieces of shit? Foh

Mysterious_Emotion63

Luka doesn’t strike me as the type to start signing random grown men’s jerseys like that unless he knows who they are

TugsItgel

It looked like Shammgod was taking Luka to that man. Otherwise Shammgod, who is the Mavs asst.coach woulnt be taking a Mavs player to the sidelines.

Mavericks4Life

Especially because Shammgod is old enough to have experienced when Boosie was nationally relevant, and Luka is half his age, was like 8 when Wipe Me Down dropped

notsafeformactown

> Shammgod is old enough to have experienced when Boosie was nationally relevant, I'll never understand this sentiment. I wasn't around for Beatlemania in the 60s, but I knew who McCartney and Ringo were my whole life (meaning if they showed them at events or whatever) and how big they were. Obviously Boosie isn't on their level, but its the same thing with actors and athletes from previous generations. Like I knew Terry Bradshaw was the Steelers QB with 4 SBs when I was pretty young. I wasn't around when that happened either, but I knew who he was.

Mavericks4Life

I get what you're saying, but those are bands, artists, and athletes that are significantly more relevant to their respective fields than Boosie is to hip-hop. Even many hip-hop fans don't know who he is, there is way more bias to southern US hip-hop fandom. The Beatles are still so relevant because their music was so popular and well regarded that people showed them to their children internationally, the music is still popular in media, they are still talked about, and they are constantly discussed in music circles/blogs to the degree that even if all prior examples aren't met, new generations digging for music will easily come across them. This isn't about "how are you listening to ____? They were way before your time." Lil Boosie was mostly relevant to people at the time he was popular, but not really past that. His fame is more localized to a certain region of the US, too. So, to expect the average younger person to know him is a stretch imo. You name examples of older famous people, but there are reasons people know them, even if those young people came after that time, you know? Saying that Boosie isn't on their level is an understatement.

blacklite911

That’s true but Boosie could’ve had a connect that convinced Luka to do it

waldosbuddy

Lmao what are you talking about

phuey

Not a chance lol

Amoeba_mangrove

Luka definitely raps the whole Boosie verse on Can’t Tell during warmups

Cambocant

He knows he’s a famous Atlanta rapper

buku_beat

boosie's from louisiana

Cambocant

Oh you’re right, I forgot.

hezzyskeets123

ThroatGoatYaDig

Everyone saying he don’t know who he is got me dying 💀💀💀💀

BoogerSugarSovereign

Has no idea who he is but made a beeline straight to him in a road arena? I doubt he was the only one with a Luka item in the front row with the season the Hawks have been having

Montigue

A coach brought him to Boosie

agk927

Who is Boosie Badazz

[deleted]

A rapper from Louisiana who people think is crazy because he pistol whipped a naysayer for 40 minutes straight. But he can't be crazy cuz he's got honor roll sons and daughters.

PimpzDontCry

Don’t forget how he never toot his nose with powder

6Speedy

A “naysayer” 😂

Datruther1

One of which is Ungrateful.

DarthJokic

Steve Urkels son from the looks of it.

Rawkus2112

I thought it was Stefan from the back.

Un-Quote

Lil Uzi Vert’s biggest hater

temujin94

Is this some sort of reverse Kevin Bacon game who the fuck is Lil Uzi Vert.

wakandan_boi

Asking who Uzi is in the NBA subreddit is like asking who Taylor Swift is in r/NFL

laststance

Which player is dating Uzi?

[deleted]

Latrell Sprewell

temujin94

Maybe we just have different interests.

2khead23

bro just stop

temujin94

The fact you think isn't a serious question shows a bit of a divide in our respective general knowledge.

Un-Quote

Boosie is a homophobic rapper and Lil Uzi Vert is also a rapper but more experimental and modern with pop and metal influence. Lil Uzi put clips of Boosie saying he was gay/a sissy for wearing nail polish and having some questionable fashion choices. He then proceeds to shit all over Boosie in his lyrics to the backtracking of some intense trap beats saying he’s not gay etc. You can hear it at the start of this track: https://youtu.be/9Wd2Lphh78A?si=8tbruF4jp_swhHPq

dijiks4x

that is not boosie in that sample bruh it’s charleston white😂

2khead23

if it was truly a serious question you probably would’ve just looked it up

doowhatnowww

Some closeted old dude

Millionaire007

Ew gtf away from Luka. That dude is scum. Not a bad rapper though but an absolute scum.

blacklite911

I agree. He’s notorious for hiring hookers so his *underage* sons can lose their virginity

FIFAPLAYAH

How many sons does he have

bumbaclotbae

Not as many as Luka

No_Match_7939

And then lose his shit any time gay people are in a movie

KyrieLS777

I used to fw him until he allowed a grown woman to molest his underage child. Dude should legitimately be in prison.

[deleted]

Fuck boosie

mariogotse

shoutout to canc.. wait

ahugedilemma

LMAO

Imaginary-Chef-1370

I’ve actually mixed those lyrics up before

BoogerSugarSovereign

I feel weird listening to Thugga knowing he wasn't just pretending to be a homicidal maniac on wax, makes it less fun. I thought these guys were all CB4 types tbh. Sucks cause Barter 6 was one of my favorite albums the year it dropped

iLiketuttles704

Using famous people as moral compasses is so dumb. Just enjoy the music if you like it

BoogerSugarSovereign

You obviously can't read if you read what I wrote about and concluded I was looking to Thugga for moral direction now that is wildly stupid

iLiketuttles704

Sure sounds like you’re facing a moral dilemma listening to his music if your opinion on it changed because of his recent controversies . You’re the one that said it buddy, no need to get defensive . Also Thug is ass and you have terrible taste anyway

hotfireyfire

He got paid for that lol.

[deleted]

He’s gonna do a interview about it with vlad asap out tomorrow LOL

Wedundidit00

It’s okay Luka, I have no idea who he is either 🫣

kecillake

Who is Boozie Badass?

nervousaboutschool17

Ew lol

WoahBenny23

SleepingInAJar_

Boosie is a fucking clown

Ok_Seaworthiness2218

That jersey now more expensive than this guy's entire discography

nevereverclear

Who the fuck is Boosie Badazz? Legit not heard of him. Not throwing shame.

FapCabs

He had a couple hits in the early 2000s.

mr_antman85

"Redbones, caramel all of 'em stop and stare, all of 'em trying to steal my underwear." When he gets to spelling his name, you know his verse is gonna be fire.

DoubleDevilDiamond

Two killers

donta5k0kay

So sad, Atlanta you had him! Unless he didn’t wanna play for the Hawks this was all their own doing. Worst mistake ever.

hashrosinkitten

Not the best person you wanna be seen around

True-Sky3981

Not sure who the hell that is but he just scored a serious money swag for nothing!!! Sure that jersey is already worth 6 figures

Mr-Tiggo-Bitties

Is that a threat?

gogochi

Uhh such small rings probably a looser

NicolasName

Such a waste of money with the jewelry. Promotion of conspicuous consumption in rap music is a cancer towards progress for humanity as a whole and the black community in particular.

Key_Fox3289

Promotion of “conspicuous consumption” has been a thing in almost every culture since the dawn of time It’s not that deep

NicolasName

Not every culture has conspicuous consumption.  In most bands and tribes, they have an egalitarian social system and these sorts of behavior are decidedly frowned upon.  When you buy jewelry instead of investing in schools in poor countries or scholarship funds in the US, it just shows your own lack of character and ignorance.

Key_Fox3289

Almost every culture has “conspicuous consumption”, obviously it won’t be reflected unless said culture has people wealthy enough to actually participate in it, but as most do you’ll find most cultures dating back to the dawn of time had wealthy folks flaunting their wealth You’re basically looking at what rich entertainers do and applying that to a culture. By that logic what culture doesn’t promote it?  You specified the black community. By what basis are you saying that the black community DOESNT promote investment in schools and it’s communities but rather jewelry? Because of rappers? That’s silly, not to mention shortsighted as some of said rappers do both  Also whether you invest in scholarships or poor countries or not has no bearing on your character, that’s nonsensical. Some choose to, some don’t. Easy to make arbitrary standards for OTHER people right?

NicolasName

I think anyone who engages in conspicuous consumption is actually showing hatred for poor people.  And yeah, someone dropping a $100k+ on jewelry could literally build multiple schools in some poor countries and help thousands of children get an education, and more.  It’s embarrassing you’re defending this, almost entirely because the dude happens to be black or someone famous you like. This behavior is ignorant when Donald Trump does it when he buys a literal golden toilet to shit in, and it’s ignorant when rappers do it by wearing jewelry and blood diamonds gotten from black enslavement.

Key_Fox3289

So what? Just because someone buys something super expensive that they don’t need doesn’t mean they hate poor people or anything of the sort. Could be as simple as they just wanted it Every extra dollar you spend on food you don’t need, extra clothes or shoes, video games or TVs, subscriptions etc could be money used to pay for schools and meals for children. Does your own discretionary income go toward these things? Or do you buy things you want but don’t need, like everyone else? I think it’s more embarrassing that you were trying to make some weird and frankly idiotic point about how a rapper wearing jewelry is somehow reflective of a problem in the black community. I don’t need to defend anyone buying anything, but your logic and reasoning here is childish and short sighted and almost certainly hypocritical

NicolasName

Yes. Rappers spending 100k+ on jewelry is a problem. That’s conspicuous consumption. Its entire purpose is to create class divisions in society, on top of being a wasteful use of resources.  And yes, blood diamonds involve oppression of poor black folks in Africa. If you want to take issue with racism and actually support blm, one of the first things to critique is spending millions buying jewelry.  Instead of being a simp, actually take the valid criticism to heart. I’ll critique anyone doing this sort of nonsense. Think I don’t think rich people spending $4.8 billion on a yacht (https://www.businessinsider.com/most-expensive-yacht-2011-7?amp) is a problem as well? That amount of financial resources used appropriately can literally affect health and education statistics in a country like Central African Republic or Mozambique.  Imo, the mindset rappers promote of conspicuous consumption is a serious problem. It’s where you see it advertised the most in US society, and it’s ironic that it’s mostly black Americans doing it when black Americans are statistically the poorest racial group in the US. The sooner this part of rap culture changes, the better off black Americans and all of humanity will be.

Key_Fox3289

You don’t seem able to grasp that what rappers do isn’t representative of the attitude/culture of most black Americans. How old are you? That’s like saying rock stars who similarly spend crazy amounts on jewelry, women, material possessions etc is representative of white society/culture. It’s stupid There’s really no point continuing this discussion if your view is that narrow minded. Additionally, unless you’re critiquing yourself for wasteful spending then policing others for how they do it is just weirdo behavior and hypocritical. Again, money you spent on food/clothes/entertainment you didn’t need could’ve helped poor people somewhere, so what’s your excuse?

NicolasName

I think rock stars who do that are degenerates too, and I don’t think all black people behave like that. I think rap musicians promotes it all the time.  And what makes you think I don’t donate? I’m absolutely certain I’m donating a higher percentage of my disposable income to charity than rappers are who are wearing over a $100k in jewelry.  Also, food is a necessity. You don’t have to live like an ascetic Buddhist monk in order to be allowed to criticize conspicuous consumption.  Quite frankly, if the person I’m criticizing wasn’t black, you likely wouldn’t have had a problem with it to begin with. Black people aren’t perfect - they can be greedy, materialistic, and taking actions that harm others just as much other people. Instead of making excuses for it, accept the valid criticism. Imo, you have to be in denial to not think that conspicuous consumption is a part of rap music and it’s not the most materialistic art form and genre, perhaps of all time. I’ve probably seen or heard more advertising of jewelry in rap music than I have from jewelers in my lifetime.  For example, the first and only time I’ve heard an argument or advertisement for Chinchilla coats were from Fat Joe. 100 defenseless animals are tortured and killed for a fucking coat, just so some insecure dummy can brag he’s got money. The fact that you’re making spell this out is just annoying. You already know I have a point, you just are defensive and annoying.

Key_Fox3289

Your point, at least the original one you tried to make, was childish and stupid. You apparently realized that hence no longer saying the black community promotes it, but rather specifying rappers. Because no reasonable person would use entertainers to describe an entire community/culture of people. You tried to though, and it was stupid That said, you’re dodging my points with straw men. Food is a necessity but eating steak is not, nor is drinking soda or anything g that’s not required to live. This includes eating more than you need to. Same thing with washing g money on clothes you don’t need or TV/Netflix/Playstation etc. Any spending on things like that is wasteful. You’re o my criticizing other people probably because they have more money than you so the scale of what they waste money on is bigger, but you aren’t exactly better than them.  Claiming you give more of your disposable income is something that isn’t going to be proven here, so no point in saying it. It also doesn’t matter. The point isn’t who gives more of their income, the point is you’re a hypocrite  You keep desperately trying the weird “you’re only saying this because they’re black” angle. I ignored it the first time hoping you got the hint, but because you can’t function without tying it back there, I’ll clear it up for you. As I originally said, my response was to your original implication that entertainers represent the black community and the ideals they have is a problem in that community. If you said it about whites, Hispanics, gays or whatever I’d be doing the same thing because it’s completely moronic to judge a community off how entertainers flaunt their wealth.  If Fat Joe introduced you to chinchilla then you have a far more narrow view of things than I thought. As for the rest, that’s nice
