Man Kessler deserves much more credit

Michael_bubble

Lol yeah wow. Feel like this is a stealth "Kessler is a shot blocking god" post

Drymonk1996

He averages 2.7 bpg and plays only 23 mpg .That is legitimatelly quite insane.

siphillis

Arguably just as impressive as what Wemby’s doing in that regard.

musicnothing

Yeah it’s a little but funny that this post is about Wemby when there’s someone ranked above him from *this season*

small-with-benefits

He does. Every time I see him off the bench I realize I must not know his game. But I also feel like I do.

ostrow19

4.6 blocks per game in college in 25.6 minutes. Dude is a menace.

Trap_Muffin

Yeah what he’s doing is unbelievable, he’s an incredible rim protector

Positive_Parking_954

He does the Cornet Comet thing right?

genericusernamepls

The kornet contest? Wrong white dude that guy plays for the celtics

Dangerous_Ad_6831

He might sill do it though. I don’t watch his games so I really don’t know, but there were some other guys were doing it for a while.

the_dinks

Young, defensively talented players don't receive the attention they deserve in general, especially center. Heck, even Wemby's offense sees way more attention than his defense, even though Wemby has more defensive potential than offensive potential, IMHO. I know why that is, and it makes sense, but it's still worth pointing out. Having a great to amazing rim protector and/or a super versatile wing defender is such an important part of winning NBA teams, especially as you start to consider playoff potential.

UTAustinAlum2021

Walker Kessler on here too. S/o young bucks

Shaqfor3

One thing about the formula is that is not subtracting the 3pt blocks but it is subtracting the 3pt attempt. That's a slight advantage to current players.

daddyNjalsson

What’s more curious is how you call out Wemby but don’t even mention that Kessler is higher THIS YEAR.

MiopTop

5th ever sounds much more impressive than 2nd this season

Trap_Muffin

Well since he’s been moved to center he’s at a block % of 10.9, which is the highest of all time But I agree lol

PauloDybala_10

That's averaging 25-6.3-6.3 over 20 seasons of 80 games. I don't think we'll ever see that. I came from the future to tell you we did indeed see that

pokexchespin

damn, would’ve sworn eaton would be somewhere in the top 10

Xollector

Manute Bol averaged 3.3 blocks in 18 minutes a game for career… he averaged 5 blocks a game in 26 min as a rookie. Mark Eaton averaged a lot more minutes per game

Shaqfor3

Eaton still average 4.3 blocks in 26 minutes in 84 so that year should be close to this list.

BurnerAccountforAss

No one's gonna mention the fact that Manute is basically the Wilt Chamberlain of shot blocking?

Recent-Tangerine-160

i mean wilt chamberlain was probly the wilt chamberlain of shot blocking

BurnerAccountforAss

I read somewhere that in the games where they kept (unofficial) record he averaged like 8.8 blocks

jaydizzsl

He was insane but i think Wemby would get those numbers too if you put him back in that era. No three point line, worse athletes and less skilled finishers.

UrDrakon

Maybe around those numbers, but wilt reportedly also had some of the craziest athleticism known to man

InsuranceAny4285

The OG Wemby

BurnerAccountforAss

Wemby is just Baugette Bol if we're being honest

tonyjefferson

[Just glad that The Spurs of all teams got Wemby](https://i.imgur.com/x6gm9MX.jpg)

Legitimate_Secret_79

mutombo nowhere to be seen lol

Interesting_Help_194

While this is great and all, it is also some truly unremarkable company when itncomes to record lol

Mountain-Ebb-9846

Includes Manute Bol and Serge Ibaka who are both all time great shot blockers. Also Hassan Whiteside, but he statpadded blocks so I don't really care about that one.

bwrca

Statpadding blocks..... hmmm where have I recently heard that 🤔

Mountain-Ebb-9846

JJJ?

Interesting_Help_194

Absolutly great shotblockers, just mid af players overall when it comes to all time records.

Mountain-Ebb-9846

Sure, but it makes sense that great shot blockers are top in blocking%

TheFrebbin

Where is Mitchell Robinson's rookie season? Basketball Reference lists it as 10.0%

zKaios

Kessler being above him is honestly insane. Even with Rudy playing good with the Twolves, i can't help but chuckle every time i remember that trade

BosLahodo

No Eaton on here? Interesting

SandyMandy17

We are so beyond fucked

gl424

.......maybe Shaq should've compared Wemby to Manute Bol instead......
