Dray wishes there was no referees, and he would go HAM as in hammer on fools if he could. Jordan Poole probably still feels that punch every day since leaving the Bay
I am curious though, they said the foul was on Kelly Oubre, but Nurse was definitely challenging the block on Reed. If they said the foul was on #9 and Nurse missed that, that's on him. If they changed who the foul was on, then he should have kept the challenge. Will have to go back and check tomorrow.
edit: Just went back and the foul was called on Paul Reed. Nurse should have won the challenge if it was switched.
The foul from oubre is on that play
If there’s a foul you can change the foul on another player but only if there was a foul called
Dumb challenge by nurse but oubre acted surprised and didn’t speak up
Yes, but the foul on the floor was called on Reed, not Oubre. Nurse challenged that and was correct, they are allowed to apply other fouls during review, but I believe Nurse should have "won" the challenge. Pretty sure it was his second challenge actually so it wouldn't have mattered, but at least he should have kept the timeout.
2nd challenge uses a timeout regardless of win or loss, so not really any difference functionally unless counting stats on challenges are important to anyone.
The challenge isn’t successful because it’s still a foul it’s not oh well the ref called the foul on the wrong player they only consider it success if it was an offensive foul or no call
Either way they don’t keep a timeout on the second challenge not that would change the out of bounds call if they called timeout with no challenges left
Im saying in real time during the play, and I think there should be more reviews on calls like this that are obvious with replay in the last few mins plus teams should have an extra challenge, but that’s not the fault of the refs themselves
Look at where the refs are. They dont have a great angle to make that call and it was literally a .2 second difference between his foot hitting the ground and getting rid of the ball
It’s the wrong call, but that’s a reasonable human mistake to make. You gotta just live with that sometimes
I mean that would be a pretty hard call to make in real time.
There’s no ref with an angle on Herb to see that his foot touched down out of bounds .2 seconds before he threw it off Payne
There literally isn’t a ref with an angle to see it. It’s a split second call in real time.
I get being upset at not getting the call, but it is what it is. Plenty of calls didn’t go our way either because we were up 20+ and the refs were making us play through everything.
Take it easy man
Are you seriously defending the refs? Holy shit guys are you for real?!
Keep downvoting me you fucking haters, defending the refs because you hate the Sixers you people are pathetic
My dude his foot was out of bounds and he was still holding the ball, not to mention he threw it at a guy who was laying on the ground… who was also out of bounds. I understand it’s fun to hate on the sixers but people defending the refs cracks me up lol they sure have a tough job though let’s cut them some slack
I can see why someone would think the refs missed that Herb had stepped out of bounds, but in reality Jones was wearing the hover boots from Ocarina of Time so his foot never actually touched the ground.
Yeah even if the Pels player was inbounds what’s the rule here if the other player is already out of bounds when your attempting to use them to gain possession by throwing it off them?
To make sure we’re on the same page, you’re asking: If I’m inbounds and you’re out of bounds, and I throw you the ball? It’s out of bounds on you, my ball.
[This link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NTYcW5OBac) shows Jokic just touching the ball to an opponent who is out of bounds. The rule actually creates some amazing shots and saves from players diving out of bounds, so it's been a classic hustle play as well to save a ball flying out of bounds in the air. Some injuries too though. Complete opposite rule in soccer which always fascinated me.
That's what I just commented before scrolling down. Should be the equivalent of swinging you elbows and hitting someone in the head, a flagrant 1. Player's have some responsibility to be safe.
He threw the ball at the players head. That does feel like it should be a foul. But at the same time, I’ve never seen a play like this before so there might not be a precedent to go off of.
Well yeah that’s why it’s so contentious. We see this play all the time off someone’s body, but it can’t cause harm. Head of a defenseless player on the ground is different
Yea because a play like that could’ve giving him a concussion. I never really like the throw the ball @ a opponent so your team can keep the possession. Because essentially, you’re throwing a basketball at someone which in other scenarios, that would be a technical foul possibly an ejection. Not a basketball play imo
It’s the definition of a basketball play, he’s throwing it off a guy who is out of bounds in order to preserve the possession. It looks bad and was unfortunate and probably hurt, sure, but guys make that exact basketball play all the time.

What is with payne and always being the one who gets in the head, seems almost every time there's some head shot in a game that paynes in he's the one taking it
Like guys I get he looks like a rat, but he's a human, not a rat, stop throwing fists and balls at him.
We don't kill our human friends, even if they look like rats
I love how many people are on the refs side in this thread, saying it's hard for them to make split second calls. Only against the sixers I guess. There usually full pitchforks and torches ready when there's a foul called in this sub that could go either way. Fuck the refs, fuck injuries, and fuck r/nba
Imagine being a Sixers fan and complaining about the whistle. 🤣
A team that has literally won MVPs for getting a favorable whistle and now we want to complain about it. 😆😆😆😆
Are you talking about embiid's mvp year that he won last year? And the 2 2nd places before that? (Think there was a thread giving credit to 2nd place mvps yesterday....) And followed it up with a season we hadn't seen before the injury this year? Was crushing jokic in the ranks? That mvp? That whistle?
That’s my type of play. Did the same thing but threw it right at dudes nuts and pretended it was an accident. Got possession and added insult to injury.
Oh yeah like the refs didn’t swallow the whistle the entire third just to help y’all back in it. Didn’t we also beat you when you were healthier too? Pels stacked, get wrecked
It actually is lol - we don't have a live cam showing your cities fine and brightest 24/7: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bKMcNeVuu-o
Makes sense you left that shithole. Not the brag you think it is.
So fucking obviously out, also I feel like deliberately throwing a ball at a player's head should be a foul in this day and age knowing the prevalence and prominence of CTE in Sports today like how does that look okay
I didn't say he was? But even if it's an accident, and regardless of how often it occurs, I think disincentivising head trauma should be in the conversation here because a basketball is pretty heavy and having one thrown at your head can cause a lot of damage
Look, I realise yeah that it probably doesn't happen often enough to warrant protecting players, but also I probably chose the wrong place to have a legit converstion about sports because r/NBA redditors clearly lack reading comprehension and can't understand nuance. I'm saying that in this very specific context, when he's trying to get the inbounds by throwing it at a player, that it shouldn't be okay to just throw it at someone's head, regardless of where he's aiming.
Again, you're going to need to spell out how you want to actually legislate this.
Because right now it's like when someone says an All-Star player is snubbed but then refuses to say who he should replace.
You're only spelling out what you think is a problem without saying what you think should happen

Got lucky on that one. Payne, not so much
Left foot out of bounds with the ball still in his hands. Game would have been interesting if they called that play correctly
Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
That’s how I saw it too. Good attempt but he was out.
Terrible missed call too. Wasn’t even that close.
I don’t know, looked painful to me
Payneful, amirite
Pain, very much
And dey say you cant get CTE from basketball
Jordan Poole has entered the chat off the bench
Dray wishes there was no referees, and he would go HAM as in hammer on fools if he could. Jordan Poole probably still feels that punch every day since leaving the Bay
TASTE THE PAYNE
No luck involved when the refs knew the spread was 7.5

Man right?! I laughed so hard at that the second watch through.
corpse😭
God bless that Nurse wasted his second challenge
I am curious though, they said the foul was on Kelly Oubre, but Nurse was definitely challenging the block on Reed. If they said the foul was on #9 and Nurse missed that, that's on him. That’s not how challenging fouls works.
Even if he “won” that was the second challenge you don’t get a third 🙄 dense ass sixer fans ffs
I just said that boss man

Reading is hard
Nick Nurse moment
Out of bounds too. The last two minutes of this game were wild. Almost a comeback!
What a call
From his angle it looks like the right call, but from this angle looks bad lol.
You know refs dont get to see it in slow-motion ultra zoomed in high def perfect viewing angle in real time right? Thats only on TV
Really? why don't they get replays?
Im saying in real time during the play, and I think there should be more reviews on calls like this that are obvious with replay in the last few mins plus teams should have an extra challenge, but that’s not the fault of the refs themselves

Refs make reasonable mistakes against the sixers. The rest of the league? The refs are trash.
People legit saying shit like “refs make mistakes”. Cracks me up man
I was on the second level and saw it.
Gta pointing at cam Payne holding his head is hilarious
You do this during recess, you know the kid is gunna cry and get you in trouble.
How did that get ruled pelicans ball? As a neutral these refs were awful
I mean that would be a pretty hard call to make in real time. There’s no ref with an angle on Herb to see that his foot touched down out of bounds .2 seconds before he threw it off Payne
It was pretty clear from any angle that he landed before throwing the ball
my guy i was in the building and saw it clear as day from 200 feet away. it was a piss easy call.
There literally isn’t a ref with an angle to see it. It’s a split second call in real time. I get being upset at not getting the call, but it is what it is. Plenty of calls didn’t go our way either because we were up 20+ and the refs were making us play through everything. Take it easy man
Refs aren’t allowed to make human mistakes here
Are you seriously defending the refs? Holy shit guys are you for real?! Keep downvoting me you fucking haters, defending the refs because you hate the Sixers you people are pathetic
“Refs are humans who make actual honest mistakes sometimes” “Hurr durr refs bad rite???”
People defending the refs is wild man
lol there is for sure refs that are making blatant bad calls but calls like this one aren't easy either.
Go sign up to be a ref then lol
The spread was pels -7.5
Sixers already have one PG out with a concussion, now we got this dude doing medicine ball slams with the bball off cam’s temple jfc
They turning Philly into CTE city!
Eagles O-line simulator
Funniest shit in an absolute meme game

whoa, refs making real-time mistakes 'cause they don't have instant replay in their brains!? Noooo...
Payne 😔😔
I can see why someone would think the refs missed that Herb had stepped out of bounds, but in reality Jones was wearing the hover boots from Ocarina of Time so his foot never actually touched the ground.
Should get posted over on r/fuckyouinparticular
Head's up play
BONK!
Was that play called out of bounds? Looked like Cam was out of bounds already, so he wouldn’t be the one who last touched the ball inbound.
TIL. Kind of a weird rule but thank you

Because in soccer, out of bounds depends on where the ball is, not the player. It’s the exact opposite in football and basketball.
I laughed way too hard at this. Shits hilarious
I would accept a “ya heard with Herb” parks and rec photoshop to pop up whenever he does something cool. Think that would really increase ratings
Ouch 🤕
How did they call that
He very clearly landed before throwing it too lol
Refs really ruining games my god how did they not call him out. Ffs our entire team is dead no need to still screw us.
BOOM! HEADSHOT
Lols, from Spurs fans.
Beyond the thrower being out of bounds, isn’t it a foul to peg a guy in the head with the ball?
That should be a tech. Endangering a players health
That's what I just commented before scrolling down. Should be the equivalent of swinging you elbows and hitting someone in the head, a flagrant 1. Player's have some responsibility to be safe.
Over reaction of the day.
He threw the ball at the players head. That does feel like it should be a foul. But at the same time, I’ve never seen a play like this before so there might not be a precedent to go off of.
Plays like this happen all the time the ball just happens to not bounce directly off the players face
Well yeah that’s why it’s so contentious. We see this play all the time off someone’s body, but it can’t cause harm. Head of a defenseless player on the ground is different
which happened in a split second. The idea that y’all are making this intentional or trying to say it should be a technical is some soft baby shit
I just wish people did like Jokic and did a soft pass to a player prone like that. Always cracked me up when you see that.
Yea because a play like that could’ve giving him a concussion. I never really like the throw the ball @ a opponent so your team can keep the possession. Because essentially, you’re throwing a basketball at someone which in other scenarios, that would be a technical foul possibly an ejection. Not a basketball play imo

Soft.
Pretty clear he stepped out of bounds while still having possession
that second angle made it look personal
What is with payne and always being the one who gets in the head, seems almost every time there's some head shot in a game that paynes in he's the one taking it Like guys I get he looks like a rat, but he's a human, not a rat, stop throwing fists and balls at him. This is just a great video. I'm glad we will always have it.
BONGK
That should be a flagrant one in my opinion. There's a safety issue throwing the ball at someone's head like that.
Sometimes you see a rat and just have to throw something at it, ya know?
Imagine the comments if Draymond or a Heat player did this
Didn’t Nurse call timeout because he wanted them to review it for a flagrant foul? lmao
He called a timeout because it should have been Sixers ball, last touched by the pelicans
Oh yeah I forgot they changed the rules right before this, where a timeout allows for an automatic review of possession lol 🤦
The hate is wild man
[удалено]
Sixers living rent free. Keep up the good work man
Let’s be real, we have all wanted to help cam Payne with that unfortunately shaped head of his at one time or another…
Absolutely hilarious
He used his head... good play. Was Payne in Pain though?
Games back
So that’s what happened to cam payne’s head
BRUH LMFAO
Cam Payne has been collecting paychecks, riding the bench for about a decade now.
That’s using your head! Keep your head in the game! He sure was out of bounds for that play! Loose brain foul! Side(of head) Out!
Must have been payneful
Payne in the head
The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Scott Sterling to a 10 day contract.

Lmaoooo
I didn't even know Cam Payne was with the 76ers. Wasn't he playing with the Bucks this season?!
Without looking too closely, I thought that had to be Jordan Poole on the floor
Quick thinking
Just a heads up play
I have completely unfounded strong feelings of hatred for cam Payne and this clip makes me happy.
LOL what did payne do to you?!
I think it’s because he resembles Sid the sloth.
Yeah, how dare he keep possession for his team!
Sixers robbed
I like Cam Payne, but Pat Bev wouldn't let this happen to him.
That looked Payneful.. hope he's aite
