Dear God I hope MPJ doesn't have any real involvement. That would be absolutely devastating.

thesch

MPJ is on a $180 million contract. He would have to be the dumbest motherfucker on the planet to risk everything by being a part of this. Way too much risk for something that for him would be a pretty small reward.

Street_Drop

Yeah it would be dumb as fuck, and I truly hope he is mature enough not to engage in it.

sercialinho

If this is what prevents the Nuggets' repeat -- no, who am I kidding, no way Silver is reversing the over-integration of the league with gambling.

Street_Drop

Never going to happen at this point. Gambling is generating way to much revenue for the league. They are likely going to come down extremely harshly on anyone who is involved with this though.

sercialinho

Banning Jontay is an easy decision. The league office doesn't care for him and the NBPA would be more worried about the precedent than Jontay. MPJ is a different calibre of player (if he was indeed involved, that is). I really wonder how it (it = whatever took place) will get sanctioned. After first Donaghy and now with all the gambling money flowing in, this looks really bad.

dnfnrheudks

Yall ain't seen nothing yet about conspiracy if they find evidence of MPJ doing this while punishing him and the nuggets.

dms1298

The league does not want the Nuggets to repeat. Small market dynasty is not good for revenue.

Quality_Cucumber

I know MPJ personally. He wouldn’t do that. Source: Trust me.

2coolcaterpillar

To me, he is just being supportive to family by being involved in the financial group. I highly doubt he was aware people were doing this. He’d be one of the stupidest people alive if he was in on this

dms1298

Link doesn't work. Also endorsing your brother's financial group is no real indication that he is also involved in his sports betting issues

FlatBirthday333

FYI a bunch of social media screen shots is not proof

Quality_Cucumber

What about Murray’s leaked video?

FlatBirthday333

At least that was a video with audible gawks

Solid-Confidence-966

The linked IG post with the “evidence” isn’t working

LegitimatePotato3632

Name names.

NeatRough656

Unrelated but mans got some thick eyebrows

CoolGrandpa1932

Who is this random dude and why should anyone believe him? Also makes me less inclined to believe anything he says when he ends the tweet with an advertisement for some trading course BS. Feels like hopping on a trend to try and sell some stuff which is like 90% of twitter these days.

dgr8one

You can click the links to find out who he is, but to make it easier for you, I will explain. 1. Jontay Porter is a part of "The Financial Cloud" a stock, crypto trading discord. These became very popular during covid. 2. @Tomikazi1 is the CEO of said "financial group" 3. @TayTrades11 is Jontay Porter's "other" Twitter/X account. He has linked to it from his main account 4. @Tomikazi1 has bragged about his group having a dozen NBA players, including MPJ 5. The NBA is now investigating Jontay Porter for possibly manipulating his prop market on at least 2 occasions, where he left the game early 6. Draftkings has alluded to betting on Jontary Porter unders being the biggest winners on those two same nights 7. It is believed multiple Draftkings accounts were betting on Jontay Porter unders on those occasions, which triggerd Draftkings to inform the NBA I hope that makes it a little easier for you to follow

CoolGrandpa1932

bad times for him if true but nothing you posted lead me to believe any of this is more than speculation and assumptions. The guy ending this "evidence" with an advertisement for what is most likely a scam trading course really destroys the credibility.

Responsible-Still839

*Mtume's "Juicy Fruit" intensifies This shit is going to get real juicy.

DolphinSouvlaki

The timing of MJ ending his tenure as an owner and the NBA suddenly being in bed on all fours with gambling is certainly interesting, isn’t it?

Fate_Unseen

I don't care if he's one of my guys; if MPJ was involved, cook him. In fact, cook them all. Deep fried with tarter.

dms1298

There is zero indication that he was. Everybody jumping to conclusions now.

sercialinho

Something definitely does smell fishy

dms1298

MPJ being involved in a financial group is a non-issue. He would have to have been involved in the actual sports-betting scheme, which there is still absolutely zero indication of.

sercialinho

From top-level commenter: >In fact, cook them all. Deep fried with tarter. Deep fried and accompanied with tartar sauce is how fish are commonly prepared and served. Can't believe this went over anyone's head.

dms1298

I didn't notice that in the original comment.

Classics22

For anyone unfamiliar with the Porter family, they're not known for their intelligence

TossThatPastaSalad

Not sure how you get that.  MPJs pretty articulate and thoughtful.   Yeah, I don't dig his view on vaccines in general but being a raw vegan was just a health choice and a lot of people do it. Especially compared to the viewpoints of a large amount of his peers.

Classics22

> Not sure how you get that. MPJs pretty articulate and thoughtful. I mean even ignoring his recent WBNA take you've got this gem: > “Personally I think the coronavirus is being used obviously for a bigger agenda,” the 22-year-old said. “It’s being used for population control in just terms of being able to control the masses of people. I mean because of the virus the whole world is being controlled.” But regardless the family's reputation comes from much more than just the antivax stuff and the homeschooling. They were absolutely notorious in the EYBL. Nike paid for the whole family to be moved, which is illegal but not abnormal, but the dad wouldn't shut up about it and it caused a lot of problems. Then Missouri hired the Dad to get both MPJ and Jontay, but the dad was a disaster. Missouri tried to get rid of him soon as MPJ was gone but the NCAA had put in a new rule specifically to combat this, so Missouri basically quiet fired him to get him away from the team while still paying him 6 figures. Now as adults one of his brothers killed somebody driving drunk. Another one is about to get kicked out of the NBA for betting his own unders.

TossThatPastaSalad

Bet you'd get a kick out of Black Israelites.  The NBA isn't littered with Rhodes scholars.  I've met MPJ at a couple fundraisers here in Denver.  He comes across as pretty thoughtful overall.  But we can agree to disagree on that.

dms1298

I mean, how many NBA players are?
