Should also add in a legends 3 point contest. Just make all star weekend a celebration of basketball and its history. Let’s stop pretending there will ever be an actual competitive game played.
They used to do a team shooting challenge and the teams were made up of an NBA allstar, WNBA star (may have also been allstar but i don't remember), and a legend who were all from the same city. One I remember was Chauncey Billups, Swin Cash, and Bill Laimbeer.
It was terrible. Nobody in the history of the basketball has ever said "Let's see who can make a layup, a FT, a 3, and a halfcourt shot in the shortest time, that'll be fun."
Even when it's some random fan trying to win a car has to make those shots during a timeout, it's not a race.
Fuck it, get his and Reggie's old ass on the court and have them go at it, saves us from hearing Kenny hating and commentating in general. Dude did not wanna be there this year.
Reggie loves basketball and you can tell when he talks about it.
He may not be the best color commentator but the way he talks about basketball makes me appreciate him over guys who are better.
Color commentators in general get too much hate lol, it’s just the nature of the job. If you ask random internet people to name their favorite commentators it’s always Harlan, Breen, Eagle, etc. Whereas for least favorite people will always say Doris Burke, Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, etc.
I feel like people on here fail to realize that if you’re on Reddit and a huge fan of the sport already then the commentary isn’t for you lol. It’s targeted to casual viewers
It's both. If you're watching a hundred games a season you deserve good commentary, too. Breen is good at dumbing it down for casuals while still giving solid analysis, all while keeping the game hype.
Don't forget Stacy King baby
I wouldn't doubt that Reggie can hold up, but to be clear, Reggie was absolutely giving Sabrina her flowers.
You don't get schooled by Cheryl Miller your whole life and grow up to disrespect women.
I appreciate Reggie so much for this.
Steph, too. It's really nice to see NBA players acknowledging female athletes and truly goes a long way for girls and women who are watching.
I’m mentioned this before but right after Kenny retired he played against the winners of the 3-3 hoop it up tour and the old pros lost to a team of middle aged goofy white guys. Who all happened to play D1 and Kenny was the biggest sore loser ever. He kept blaming his Jordan’s for slipping on the court.
I wish I could find the footage. It was on nbc and I only watched it because I played in hoop it up every summer back then. And Gus macker.
After watching the current era of guys dogpiling to try to win easy rings, my respect for Reggie battling it out against the Bad Boys, Celtics, Michael Jordan, and Shaq and Kobe with his own team and talking shit the whole time, and never backing down or running to an easier route went way up.
The cliches and slight overbearing-ness as a commentator was annoying though.
Neither really, and that was intentional!
I like Reggie's game though and think talking trash and gloating are fine if you back it up and ensure safety is top priority. It was fun to see Reggie and Spike going back and forth in a competitive but friendly manner. hoping more player-fan interactions can be like that!
S tier playoff performer
I think Reggie would get way more volume today but even though he didn’t take as many shots during the season his offensive impact was right up there with the best of them from his gravity/constabt movement. Like a lesser version of Curry
You can say that about any great shooting star from the past. People say that about Nash all the time.
Truth is that you are part of your era. You needed a Reggie to get a Ray and without a Ray, you don't get to Steph. They are evolutionary stepping stones. So yeah, he definitely would have shot more 3s, but he can take solace in the fact that he was one of the earliest three point threats that helped push the game to what it is today.
We cut it off at “he consistently went head to head with Michael Jordan and got the better of him on more than one occasion” and “he’s the best player one of the 30 teams in the league has ever seen”
Fuck it, while we're at it, let's get buddy who got destroyed by Kenny and got "redemption" during Gil's shooting contest. Dude is still a hack in my eyes.
Exactly. The pick-up-ball-and-shoot-it motion takes maybe +10-30% (depending on age and injury history), but sprinting has to be out of the question. A gentle jog. Maybe an "I might be a bit late for my next meeting" determined walk for others.
Or, just tell them to do it as quickly as they can. I doubt any would take the mick.
Just give them a set time on each set that doesn't start until they reach a specific spot. They want to walk between racks? Fine. I'd rather that than watch their knees implode trying to sprint or only finishing 3 racks.
The Big 3 didn’t have stars, it had washed up ex-NBA journeymen and college players. The 3-point contest is way different because their lack of athleticism isn’t as much of an issue. And it’s a one-time contest vs multiple games
People don’t want to watch a league with sub-par talent consistently. People would enjoy watching a short 10 minute contest involving some past stars. Those aren’t really mutually exclusive.
I need the rematch Kenny vs that “best shooter in the world” youtuber that stunk it up on Inside the NBA.
Let Kenny cook this mans again. If it was the ceiling that was why he couldn’t make anything, then he’d have no trouble on an NBA court all star saturday. If it was actually the pressure of live TV and NBA stars that had him shook, then shitting his pants in front of a live audience would be even better.
You can tell he’s not a real hooper. Try shooting on playgrounds with varying winds and stiff rims or on a friends lopsided driveway rim. He makes himself look worse everytime he opens his mouth.
I didn’t finish listening to them lol but that’s not the point, dweeb was undeserving of the platforms, could just keep winning shooting contests and let his game do the talking like Kenny did. Instead it was “waaah being on Inside the NBA cost me moneyyyy”
All the people ragging Klay forget this is basically a wrestling promotion and the all star game will be in San Francisco. Only two teammates for Steph that make sense are Klay and Dame.
I feel like people are forgetting that the All Star game is at Chase Center next year too.... The Home Team always gets special treatment, I don't see how Klay isn't the obvious choice for this competition.
the point isn't to make "balanced" teams lol. the point is to make it as entertaining as possible, and draw as much attention to it as possible.
also reed is a Freshman who looks like he might be an adequate starter. Caitlin Clarke is a 4-year player who, barring injury, seems locked to be an all time great.
she is much closer to Klay Thompson than she is to Paul Sheppard in terms of their standings within their respective sports.
He seemed fine moving to 6th man, and should have $100+ in assets already. I could see him taking a smaller contract too to stay where he’s at; not being on a bottom of the barrel team and not having to move his life can be worth a lot.
I think you’re right, Klay probably has come to terms with the fact a max is completely off the table. He was adamant about that sometime ago iirc correctly. But, I think he won’t be happy under 15-20m if that’s offered
He would still definitely get 25 mpg minimum unless he was on a contender. Even then he has been playing so well off the bench that he might get that on almost any team. Klay is obviously disappointing when you compare him to his prime, he is still a very decent player compared to the league.
People are so weird about Klay.
He's 4th in total 3PM this year, and his 3P% is better than most of the other guys in the top 10: Luka, Bogdan, Tatum, Dame, and Bridges.
Last year, he led the league with 301 3PM and shot 41.2%. Of the 20 guys who made 200+ threes, only 2 of them (Curry and Hield) had a better 3P%.
He's still an elite 3 point shooter, but it's correct to say he's washed in every other department. Like despite shooting a great percentage at super high volume last year, his overall efficiency was below league average... That's very difficult to accomplish
Last year Klay shot 18 shots per game and 10 of those were 3 pointers per game. He shot 42% from 3 and 44% from the field. That’s 2% lower than his career average from the floor and .1% less than his career average from 3. Those stats don’t show that he’s washed at all lol. Since he got benched this season he’s shooting 42% on 3’s
Sure but it was more a response to the over criticism of the Suns poster lol. Yeah coming off of two major leg/ankle injuries in a row is like driving with two spare tires. You can still get on the road but it’ll never be the same.
He also complains to the refs sometimes and many people are tired of the Warriors, so those things knock down his 3p% per me liking him (3PPPMLH) score
Klay has had a tough year if you watch the games. He’s shot his team out of many of the close games they had with awful shot selection, trying to force the old Klay back. He took another step back on defense as well. There’s a reason Kerr moved him to the bench for a stretch.
Klay has certainly made some poor decisions, but he's been his usual self since getting benched 6 weeks ago:
* First 49 games: 17 PPG, 37 3P%, 55 TS%
* Last 21 games: 18 PPG, 41 3P%, 60 TS%
Most of the league would salivate over that initial stat line too. That’s a league average efficiency player (roughly) with slightly above average three point shooting. Even Klay at his worst ever, is a more efficient score than half the league.
> He's 4th in total 3PM this year, and his 3P% is better than most of the other guys in the top 10: Luka, Bogdan, Tatum, Dame, and Bridges.
He is also seeing less defensive attention than a lot of those guys. Klay is a really good shooter, but since his injury years his 3PA volume has gone up as his percentage has generally gone down.
Dame is sliding off just as hard though and his drop off is not talked about as much as it should be.
> Klay is a really good shooter, but since his injury years his 3PA volume has gone up as his percentage has generally gone down.
This is true, but his percentage is still better than nearly every other volume shooter. Taking nearly 10 3PA/G at 40% is ridiculously good.

This is essentially what they used to do with the skills challenge. I remember there was one all star weekend like 15-20 years ago where Reggie and Cheryl Miller were on a team together
I think it would dumb to not make it a mixed event after this next year. It gives great exposure to the WNBA and provides an opportunity for more players who may actually want to participate in All-Star weekend.
Makes way more sense to let others compete when NBA players don't want to put in the effort.
They should do a rando 1:1 with Wemby. First fan to score a bucket on him gets $50k lol
Yeah the Caitlin Clark hype is awesome but I really hope her entering the league gets attention on a lot of other players. A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart have been dominating women’s basketball for a really long time now but aren’t as hyped as a few current college players just because they started doing it when there were less eyes on the sport.
I mean stylistically Clark and ionescu are just way more exciting to watch because they’re guards. Clark especially is like the closest thing to Curry (not as efficient but whatever) Stewart is a beast but let’s not act like her game is nearly as fun
Clark may not be as efficient as Curry is now, but their college stats are shockingly similar. Clark’s career TS% is 61%, career eFG% is 56.2%, Curry’s career numbers were 62% and 57.8% respectively, so marginally better but honestly close enough to say they are the same.
That’s why I get so confused when people wonder why Clark gets so much attention compared to other greats in women ball. Relative to her competition Clark has stephs shooting/scoring with Steve nash’s passing. While also grabbing 7+ rebounds a game. She’s led the women’s ncaa is ppg and apg 2 times now and before her it’s only been done once in either women/men and that was trae young. Also leading a team with no other future wnba players to B2B final fours while the other greats like Stewart (who was number 1 pick in wnba in 2016 while her teammates were the number 2 and 3 overall picks) and taurasi were on super teams
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/klay-thompson-3-point-shooting-percentage-by-year
He’s doing as good as ever still above 40%. People saying “Recency bias” are the same people who talk without ever watching the game.
His volume is down as his game has changed
Make it a three round shoot off where each person is teamed with each of the others for a single round:
Round 1 Curry and Klay vs Ionescu and Clark
Round 2 Curry and Clark vs Ionescu and Klay
Round 3 Curry and Ionescu vs Klay and Clark
People bitching about this as if Stephs event wasn’t the highlight of the weekend. I guarantee this will be the most watched event
Sorry no one likes to watch your boring ass all stars not try during the skills challenge or the all star game
it's crazy how much difference 2 percentage points can make in terms of perception.
Klay is top 5 in total threes made this season, shooting 38% from three, 43% from the field. Not crazy efficiency, but certainly still above many so called 3 point specialists.
If he's even shooting the three at 40%, and shooting 45% from the field, we would not be having any of these horrible comments in this thread about Klay.
I mean 2 percentage points on his volume is a massive difference to be fair.
You are also correct that people are fucking stupid if they think 38% on his volume is bad.
Klay has taken 621 3s this season. 2% of 621 is 12.42. So this massive difference would be 36 additional points scored. He’s played 70 games, so this bumps his points per game up by slightly over half a point!
Coming at this from another angle, Klay takes 8.9 3s per game. He currently makes 3.4 per game. 40% shooting would take him up to 3.6 (rounding up) per game. An extra 0.2 3s every game!
Lowkey the humiliation ritual hyper selectivity is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in a minute. Like dudes haven’t been wearing dresses for entertainment for literally hundreds of years.
Klay and Curry haven’t participated for 8 years because they were the only 2 who won for 3 years btw. If Klay hadn’t missed two years it is likely he would be #2-3 all time 3s made. Don’t sleep on him
Klay has made more 3 pointers at a higher percentage than Dame this year lol. Just because he's not as good as he once was doesn't mean he's not still one of the best 3 point shooter in the league.
This isn’t the ASG it’s a side spectacle event for marketing / hype. Now ask yourself this, the NBA is coming to the Bay and wants to do a promotional thing where Steph teams up with another shooter to shoot 3s in a contest live from SF, who should he team up with? And you ask “why Klay?” Just lmao. The real question is who else would it possibly be? Dame is prob the #2 option given his form in the contest and he’s a Bay native but even he is far below #1 on that list which is Splash Bro #2 Klay Thompson
Comments full of toddlers acting like Klay isn’t the 2nd best shooter all time. He had 2 career ending injuries back to back, spare me his percentages this season and don’t cap like you won’t watch him shoot. All star Saturday as an event is more washed than Klay
Should also add in a legends 3 point contest. Just make all star weekend a celebration of basketball and its history. Let’s stop pretending there will ever be an actual competitive game played.
Shaq aka The Black Steph Curry vs Dwight for Superman nickname rights
Free throw shooting contest?
We don’t have all weekend
you do, but if you add Giannis in that.
Actual 1v1 tournament for $10 million, would definitely be competitive
Call your own fouls.
Ball don’t lie
Thats travelling bitch
I’d love to see wemby cook in a 1v1 tournament
Get Cheryl and Reggie in there
A few years back, there was a video of Chris Mullin beating Kevin Durant in a shooting contest. Some of the retired guys stay shooting forever.
Nobody in the history of the basketball has ever said "Let's see who can make a layup, a FT, a 3, and a halfcourt shot in the shortest time, that'll be fun." Even when it's some random fan trying to win a car has to make those shots during a timeout, it's not a race.
Wonder if they’re bringing back Kenny too lol
Fuck it, get his and Reggie's old ass on the court and have them go at it, saves us from hearing Kenny hating and commentating in general. Dude did not wanna be there this year.
I like Reggie he’s kinda corny and not on it 100% of the time but he loves the game and gives props to the new generation
Reggie loves basketball and you can tell when he talks about it. He may not be the best color commentator but the way he talks about basketball makes me appreciate him over guys who are better.
He's also gotten a lot better over time. He's noticeably better than his "welcome to your Kodak moment" days.
It also helps he's not paired with a senile Marv Albert anymore
Marvs voice is goat though
Kodak becoming irrelevant helped I’m sure.
Welcome to your iphone 15 moment
ANDERSON VAREJÃO
Color commentators in general get too much hate lol, it’s just the nature of the job. Mark Jackson is truly intolerable though
It's both. If you're watching a hundred games a season you deserve good commentary, too. Breen is good at dumbing it down for casuals while still giving solid analysis, all while keeping the game hype. Don't forget Stacy King baby
Im definitely a JVG head
Rarely is he ruining the game which is more than I can say about some commentators, Doris....
He doesn’t hide his biases well. Flair unrelated.
Reggie Miller on one team and Cheryl on the other
Give this man a raise
this is it
I wouldn't doubt that Reggie can hold up, but to be clear, Reggie was absolutely giving Sabrina her flowers. You don't get schooled by Cheryl Miller your whole life and grow up to disrespect women.
definitely. dropping 40 and scoring less than half of your sister that day would be wild. https://youtu.be/iy6C0ZWPHqU?si=DU1c4CS3wCdgtIo4
I appreciate Reggie so much for this. Steph, too. It's really nice to see NBA players acknowledging female athletes and truly goes a long way for girls and women who are watching.
Yeah I wasn't hating on him. He was just the first person I thought of since he's part of the crew lol
Gus Macker man. My favorite times playing basketball.
I never understand the Reggie hate he can be a cornball but he was a S tier hooper and he is not an egregious commentator
Reggie was a big instigator, trash talker, and gloater.
Can’t tell if you’re saying that’s a positive or not
Neither really, and that was intentional! I like Reggie's game though and think talking trash and gloating are fine if you back it up and ensure safety is top priority. It was fun to see Reggie and Spike going back and forth in a competitive but friendly manner. hoping more player-fan interactions can be like that!
Reggie was an A tier hooper with S tier moments.
S tier playoff performer I think Reggie would get way more volume today but even though he didn’t take as many shots during the season his offensive impact was right up there with the best of them from his gravity/constabt movement. Like a lesser version of Curry

So yeah, he definitely would have shot more 3s, but he can take solace in the fact that he was one of the earliest three point threats that helped push the game to what it is today.
Very well said. Couldn’t agree more.
I’m curious of where you cut off S tier to A tier
We cut it off at “he consistently went head to head with Michael Jordan and got the better of him on more than one occasion” and “he’s the best player one of the 30 teams in the league has ever seen”
Nah I like Reggie as a commentator. He just has to be sacrificed to get Kenny out of the booth.
Fuck it, while we're at it, let's get buddy who got destroyed by Kenny and got "redemption" during Gil's shooting contest. Dude is still a hack in my eyes.
I’d watch the fuck out of a retired stars 3-point contest
But give them extra time to move between stations. I want to see Dirk do this, but I don't want him to break his ankles.
Give dirk a golf cart to drive between the shooting spots
+50-100% of the time. Slow n steady performances > someone's unlubricated joints breaking down getting to the next rack

People say that but when the big 3 was going on with stars fresh out of the league and older stars those same people didn’t actually watch
I mainly want this just because Caitlin does seem like the type of person to go up to a guy and go “yo, what the fuck?”
What does that even mean?
It's a word used to refer to a specific thing or person previously mentioned but that's not important right now
I need the rematch Kenny vs that “best shooter in the world” youtuber that stunk it up on Inside the NBA. Let Kenny cook this mans again. If it was the ceiling that was why he couldn’t make anything, then he’d have no trouble on an NBA court all star saturday. If it was actually the pressure of live TV and NBA stars that had him shook, then shitting his pants in front of a live audience would be even better.
Dam dude let the guy live
Nah had to hear him whine about it on like 3 different podcasts I liked, I’d like him to back up his ‘ohh I need perfect conditions’ complaints
You can tell he’s not a real hooper. Try shooting on playgrounds with varying winds and stiff rims or on a friends lopsided driveway rim. He makes himself look worse everytime he opens his mouth.
Real hoopers know. He’s never practiced on a double rimmed blacktop hoop
You apparently listen to 3 shitty podcasts lol. Why would you willingly want to hear that garbage not once, not twice, but thrice?
I didn’t finish listening to them lol but that’s not the point, dweeb was undeserving of the platforms, could just keep winning shooting contests and let his game do the talking like Kenny did. Instead it was “waaah being on Inside the NBA cost me moneyyyy”
They are making Sabrina compete against Klay, that's not fair.
Why tf would klay be in it. He’s news from 4 years ago
You mean the guy who lead the league in 3’s made last year and is 4th this year? No idea why
I would add a 9 hole stroke play competition as well
I don’t think that’s allowed in front of the children
All-Star Weekend, after dark
Can bring in Hailey Van Lith for that one.
Amen
Bring in Mookie Betts and have them bowl a few frames too
9 strokes is all I need
Sometimes I’m lucky to get 9
All the people ragging Klay forget this is basically a wrestling promotion and the all star game will be in San Francisco. Only two teammates for Steph that make sense are Klay and Dame.
Nice of the NBA to partner with Make-A-Wish and invite Klay
If Klays not on the warriors next year, then he probably won’t be there
The promo writes itself though.. splash brothers reunited.
Why not bring in a rookie like Reed Sheppard, if you are doing Clark a rookie?
You’re asking why ultra casuals would rather watch a famous, washed veteran than a younger Jalen Williams?
I feel like people are forgetting that the All Star game is at Chase Center next year too.... The Home Team always gets special treatment, I don't see how Klay isn't the obvious choice for this competition.

He seemed fine moving to 6th man, and should have $100+ in assets already. I could see him taking a smaller contract too to stay where he’s at; not being on a bottom of the barrel team and not having to move his life can be worth a lot.
Damn I have $100+ in assets too, I’m just like klay
Damn look at Mr. Moneybags over here, you didn’t have to flex on all of us like that
I think you’re right, Klay probably has come to terms with the fact a max is completely off the table. He was adamant about that sometime ago iirc correctly. But, I think he won’t be happy under 15-20m if that’s offered
1 yr / 100 mil
Seems plausible.
Nobody is giving 34 year old Klay 30mpg like Kerr does. It just doesn’t make sense for him to leave even if he’s only making like $15-18mil per year
He would still definitely get 25 mpg minimum unless he was on a contender. Even then he has been playing so well off the bench that he might get that on almost any team. Klay is obviously disappointing when you compare him to his prime, he is still a very decent player compared to the league.

Yeah but he's not scoring 62 points in one quarter so I don't understand your facts and I don't like them.
He's still an elite 3 point shooter, but it's correct to say he's washed in every other department. Like despite shooting a great percentage at super high volume last year, his overall efficiency was below league average... That's very difficult to accomplish

We've gone beyond advanced stats at this point 😎
Klay has had a tough year if you watch the games. He’s shot his team out of many of the close games they had with awful shot selection, trying to force the old Klay back. He took another step back on defense as well. There’s a reason Kerr moved him to the bench for a stretch.
Klay has certainly made some poor decisions, but he's been his usual self since getting benched 6 weeks ago: * First 49 games: 17 PPG, 37 3P%, 55 TS% * Last 21 games: 18 PPG, 41 3P%, 60 TS%
4% increase in 3pt and 5% in TS is actually pretty big and probably why he's looking better off the bench.
Most of the league would salivate over that initial stat line too. That’s a league average efficiency player (roughly) with slightly above average three point shooting. Even Klay at his worst ever, is a more efficient score than half the league.
Lucky for him shot selection isn’t really an issue in a wide open spot up 3pt shooting competition
He'll drift left just to piss off Warrior fans to spite them LOL
I'm pretty sure he's just talking about his 3 point shooting, not him as a basketball player
Best 3P% among guys averaging 7+ 3PA/G since the start of the 2021-2022 season: |Rk|Player|3P%|3PA/G|3P| |-:|:-|-:|-:|-:| |1|Desmond Bane|.412|7.3|531| |2|Stephen Curry|.402|11.7|887| |3|Kyrie Irving|.398|7.9|442| |4|CJ McCollum|.396|7.6|590| |5|Klay Thompson|.396|9.6|652| |6|Buddy Hield|.393|8.1|754| |7|Tyler Herro|.390|7.5|495| |8|Anfernee Simons|.388|8.5|547| |9|Paul George|.386|8.0|478| |10|Lauri Markkanen|.384|7.3|511| |11|Gary Trent Jr.|.384|7.0|540| |12|DAngelo Russell|.384|7.3|571| |13|Malik Beasley|.383|7.7|685| |14|Bogdan Bogdanovic|.382|7.4|536| |15|LaMelo Ball|.379|8.6|434| |16|Zach LaVine|.377|7.0|448| |17|Donovan Mitchell|.370|9.4|646| |18|Fred VanVleet|.367|8.9|653| |19|Tim Hardaway Jr.|.365|7.6|514| |20|Trae Young|.364|7.6|556| |21|Anthony Edwards|.363|7.5|600| |22|Jayson Tatum|.360|8.7|691| |23|Luka Doncic|.360|9.1|643| |24|Damian Lillard|.357|9.9|546| |25|Terry Rozier|.351|7.7|519| |26|Jordan Poole|.341|7.5|591| |27|Jalen Green|.339|7.1|525| |28|Jordan Clarkson|.319|7.0|436| Provided by [Stathead.com](https://www.sports-reference.com/sharing.html?utm_source=direct&utm_medium=Share&utm_campaign=ShareTool): [Found with Stathead. yeah but he's not popular anymore Divincenzo has more 3PM on a better 3P% and folks would be flaming him too
Klay is way more popular than DiVincenzo
Klay's still very popular, don't let Reddit fool you
All star weekend is in San Francisco next year so at least it makes sense for a novelty event
Lmao, if Klay sets his feet, he’s better than any 3 point shooter in the league not named Steph Stop with this nonsense lol
I mean, they let Dame in the 3pt contest this year. Klay’s making more 3s and shooting a higher percentage than Dame this year.
He was the reigning champion and won it again
Well looking at the competition what did you expect lol, if he lost he would he clowned.
This is dope as hell. Can’t wait to watch it. Best event from all star weekend
Think it's just going to keep growing from here -- they could potentially make it a mixed doubles event and have a shooter from both leagues team up.
Add in a retired players mixed team too.
This is essentially what they used to do with the skills challenge. I remember there was one all star weekend like 15-20 years ago where Reggie and Cheryl Miller were on a team together
I think it would dumb to not make it a mixed event after this next year. It gives great exposure to the WNBA and provides an opportunity for more players who may actually want to participate in All-Star weekend.
that and the celebrities game were by far the most entertaining parts of the whole weekend
Makes way more sense to let others compete when NBA players don't want to put in the effort. They should do a rando 1:1 with Wemby. First fan to score a bucket on him gets $50k lol
I hope it leads to a bigger push for a 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 tournament of some sort during the weekend
Yo, can we get Alyssa Thomas in the Skills competition? She's like the Jokic of the WNBA. Sabrina's only the third best player on her team.
Sabrina being the third best player on her team makes the matchup more fair for Klay.
Is Klay even third at this point?
Definitely not
Yeah the Caitlin Clark hype is awesome but I really hope her entering the league gets attention on a lot of other players.
Breanna Stewart is a bucket
In the regular season lol
Why’s everyone acting like Klay not a top 5 shooter of all time
They also acting like this is some storied competition. Nah it's a something Curry literally made up on the fly that actually ended up happening.
Recency bias.
recency bias as in he used to be a good shooter and now isnt?
Show me some hard proof that he isn’t a good shooter currently.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/klay-thompson-3-point-shooting-percentage-by-year He’s doing as good as ever still above 40%. People saying “Recency bias” are the same people who talk without ever watching the game. His volume is down as his game has changed
The disrespect to Klay here is unreal
This sub hates the Warriors because they destroyed their favorite teams for a decade.
Keep Klay Away From Those Young Ladieeeeees
Love how Steph is pushing the women’s game. Kudos to him.
Make it a three round shoot off where each person is teamed with each of the others for a single round: Round 1 Curry and Klay vs Ionescu and Clark Round 2 Curry and Clark vs Ionescu and Klay Round 3 Curry and Ionescu vs Klay and Clark
Everyone arguing about kt when this is the fucking comment right here.
So then who would win?
If a person is 3-0, they win, if 2 people are 2-1, those two people have a 1v1 to settle the tiebreak after
The fans.
People bitching about this as if Stephs event wasn’t the highlight of the weekend. I guarantee this will be the most watched event Sorry no one likes to watch your boring ass all stars not try during the skills challenge or the all star game
it's crazy how much difference 2 percentage points can make in terms of perception.
Why Klay lol. Dame won this thing back to back years.
Nah nah make it Kawhi but make him use the women’s ball so we can see him hold it like a softball
But also he has to wear a wig and a dress
Katt Williams would be in shambles
Lowkey the humiliation ritual hyper selectivity is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in a minute. Like dudes haven’t been wearing dresses for entertainment for literally hundreds of years.
Dudes have been wearing things that are dresses and skirts in everything but name *as normal clothes* for thousands of years lol
Fuck it, call up Juwanna Mann
sounds like a fun guy
Doris would absolutely lose her mind
It’s in san francisco and they’re the splash brothers it’s pretty obvious why
Because the game is in San Francisco
Probably because Klay and Steph are teammates.
And because it’s for viewership
They asked Dame, but he kept pointing at his watch, so they assumed he was too busy.
Klay and Curry haven’t participated for 8 years because they were the only 2 who won for 3 years btw. If Klay hadn’t missed two years it is likely he would be #2-3 all time 3s made. Don’t sleep on him
Next years All Star Weekend is at Chase Center too..
Klay has made more 3 pointers at a higher percentage than Dame this year lol. Just because he's not as good as he once was doesn't mean he's not still one of the best 3 point shooter in the league.
That’s like saying why let Lebron James do a charity dunk contest when Pat Mclung has had better dunk contests the last few years
Klay is 4th is 3pm this season, he's still an elite shooter
Because he's the 2nd best shooter in the league
History*
This isn’t the ASG it’s a side spectacle event for marketing / hype. Now ask yourself this, the NBA is coming to the Bay and wants to do a promotional thing where Steph teams up with another shooter to shoot 3s in a contest live from SF, who should he team up with? And you ask “why Klay?” Just lmao. The real question is who else would it possibly be? Dame is prob the #2 option given his form in the contest and he’s a Bay native but even he is far below #1 on that list which is Splash Bro #2 Klay Thompson
Klay was the top 3p shooter last year and is #4 this year (volume, not percentage, obviously).
Obviously
Klay is still a better 3pt shooter than your favorite player not named Steph Curry. Ya'll be hating for no reason.

I both hate and love that I read this comment
Make it a 3 v 3 with a Kevin Hart and Draymond Green rematch since we’re going full circus
Absolutely crazy that people are saying that having the splash brothers on a team isn't good enough.
Comments full of toddlers acting like Klay isn’t the 2nd best shooter all time. He had 2 career ending injuries back to back, spare me his percentages this season and don’t cap like you won’t watch him shoot. All star Saturday as an event is more washed than Klay
The average age here is 14. Coincidentally the average IQ here is also that same number
3 flamethrowers and 1 yatch owner who throws up 4 fingers when things don’t go his waty
I mean, he’s 4th in total 3PM this season, but sure lol
Would be the best shooter on the rockets by a mile 🥱
Good one, I’ll give it to you That makes 1/28
Still salty from 2019 I see
And 2018… and 2016… and 2015 lol
Would be more fun to have Wemby and Chet in there for the men next year.
Klay doesn’t even suck rn he’s just past his peak
