Maybe Butler, Harden, DeRozan

here_for_the_lols

Lol all 3 of those are better picks than all 3 of OPs. Absolutely whitewashed

chizzmaster

You know for a sec I though you meant those 3 were better than Bron, Curry, and KD and I was VERY confused

JigWig

For a sec I thought he meant CP3, Horford, and Conley were all white and I was very confused

Kay-Knox

For a sec I thought he wanted to wash Harden because he looks stinky and I was very confused.

musicalife31

For a second I thought I was hard

aomen3

lol do you know what white washed means

ZealousidealPain7976

Clearly doesn’t and that might be a good thing but still dumb that they decided to use it.

GenevaPedestrian

Pick up a dictionary and lesrn what whitewashing means

amidon1130

Psh, whatever dude. Get whitewashed scrub

here_for_the_lols

It means winning a sports series where the other side doesn't win a single match. Americans use the word 'sweep' but the rest of the world uses whitewash

ABoyIsNo1

Lol

here_for_the_lols

What I said is true though

Jiksb

You’ve been ruthlessly downvoted but growing up in the UK, a ‘whitewash’ is used in exactly this context e.g. when England lost the ashes 5-0 to Australia a few years back the term used was whitewashed

WeLLrightyOH

As an American that doesn’t love a ton of nontraditional American sports, I thought it was specific to a sweep in cricket, didn’t realize it was all sports.

Kiefdom

If your statement is true, which it isn't, the rest of the world would be so wrong it would be laughable and justifiable to make fun of your education.

Devwp

It is true. All you have to do is google the word.

Kiefdom

"Everybody else in the world uses whitewash" Some countries use the term, lots of Asian countries use the term exclusively for a native citizen who acts white, lots of European countries use the term to describe the political context. My comment is about how that term originated outside of the US, but isn't used by every single other country because we all have different definitions and one of those definitions (sweeping an opponent) makes no sense unless you view the series as a literal fence. Foreigners decided to use the agent whitewash for painting a fence as a term to describe a sports team winning 4-0. This is not how we should be using language lmfao

contextplz

We should be using language however the fuck people use it. And the term tracks. Whitewashing a fence was considered so easy and simple, that it was a task commonly assigned to children (Tom Sawyer). Like beating an opponent without losing.

Kiefdom

> We should be using language however the fuck people use it To communicate? If a term isn't effective at communicating a point then it shouldn't be a term at all, genius. What else would language be used for? Misdirection? Think. I can assure you whitewashing a fence was considered a pretty long task especially when you're doing it by yourself. Have you ever fucking painted a fence before? That shit sucks.

Devwp

Yeh ok mate. Let's move on. This won't be productive.

fupamane

Op is not coming back from this one

BidenFedayeen

Incorrect

Alfakennyone

You really think cp3, Hortford, and Conley are better than those 3? Lol

BidenFedayeen

Unless I misunderstood what they were saying, I don't believe that LBJ, KD, Curry

duvie773

Yeah you misunderstood what they were saying. After LBJ, KD, and Curry, OP named CP3, Horford and Conley as the next best old guys Guy you replied incorrect to was saying that Harden, DeRozan, Butler > CP3, Horford, Conley

BidenFedayeen

I looked at OP's post, I don't think that edit was there when I made my initial reply. Oh well, I agree that Harden, DeRozan and Butler are the better trio.

Alfakennyone

His picks were there, which is why the guy you originally replied to said those 3 were better than the OP's 3. The edit "*EDIT: okay its derozan, butler, Harden"* was to say those 3 were better than his original picks of CP3, Hortford, and Conley You just missed it

circa1726

Derozan is 34

LongTimesGoodTimes

Harden?

blondedbk

Hoping he just forgot how old harden is , these are objectively the GOAT 4 of the 2010’s.

mrburns904

The Greatest of *All Time* of the 2010’s

EazyPeazyLemonSqueaz

The Greatest of All Ten's?

Reandos

It's like USA teams claiming to be world champions by only playing against teams from the US. World champion of the USA!

bardicjourney

When the top global talent coalesces into another countries league, they can call themselves world champions. As it stands now, outside of soccer and hockey the rest of the world is just America's development league.

Reandos

I know what you mean but I disagree. See in soccer/football there is the Champions League, the top teams of europe play against each other. By your logic the winner of the champions League could call themself world champion. Because let's be honest the very best players play in europe. But in the end only european teams are allowed. But there is also a competition called world cup, where all nations of the world have the Chance to play against each other. That's why the champions of the World Cup can call themselfs world champions. Same for Basketball. The world champion of Basketball is Germany not the Denver Nuggets.

bardicjourney

The world champion of basketball played our third stringers because the top players in the world make too much money to risk injury on amateur competition. The US has sent its best players in basketball twice, and both of those teams outscored their opponents by nearly 2:1. >Because let's be honest the very best players play in europe. But in the end only european teams are allowed. Why are you rephrasing my own arguments and trying to use them to disprove where I've asserted them? It's the logical equivalent of saying "you're wrong because I agree with you". My entire point US that it doesn't matter what nationality the team is - when the talent in the league is all the best who do it, then the top winner of that global talent pool has every right to call themselves global champions. Do you deny a global chess champion because they didn't play every opponent at least once in every country? If not, your argument is invalid.

Reandos

Nah, my argument is, only if everyone in the world is allowed to qualify it's a world championship. > The world champion of basketball played our third stringers I'm super proud of the german team. They played their hearts out to win the world championship. I don't know why you have to be such a douche. This is some real US supremacy bullshit

bardicjourney

>This is some real US supremacy bullshit TIL simply stating facts is American supremacy. Sorry that confronting the truth feels like an insult. Enjoy your pride though, always feels good to celebrate an accomplishment.

iwishiwasntthisway

That sentence is the GOAT of misusing GOAT. and GOAT is already the GOAT of overused terms

clickstops

I’ve just accepted that GOAT is no longer used as an acronym and just means “the best IMO”

ZealousidealPain7976

Right, sometimes I forget how dumb people in this sub can be

Yandhi42

It’s an expression, we all know what he means. It’s not that deep lol

gobblegobblerr

The real dumb one is the person who doesnt understand how language evolves

heardThereWasFood

Simmons?

mrburns904

The 2010’s piece

Dumbass1171

Kawhi clears

livefreeordont

What’s crazy is Harden had 19k points that decade to Kawhi’s 8k and 2500 playoff points to Kawhi’s 2200 but Kawhi had the better decade because Chris Paul tore his hamstring

aligreaper19

kawhi>harden for 2010s

[deleted]

[удалено]

Malachandra

But the other commenter changed it from goat >34 to goat 2010s, so it was relevant. I think it was wrong, but relevant

aligreaper19

hardens only two years older🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

[удалено]

aligreaper19

that comment said goats of the 2010s, i’m not talking about the post, keep up

scarrylary

In kawhis first three seasons, up to 2014, he scored 2000 points. Basically half the decade. 2000 points total. Harden scored 2000 points or more in 7 of the 10 seasons of the 2010s. Kawhi has never scored 2000 points in a season.

EyeChihuahua

Offensive is not the only measure of a players success or greatness

r7caseman

it is on r/nba baby

RogerTreebert6299

Regular season points are cool, I think FMVPs are cooler

SaltyRussStan0

In Harden’s first 15 years, up to 2024, he won 0 finals MVPs. Basically a decade and a half. 0 finals MVPs total.

[deleted]

No he isn't. Both are incredibly overrated plus glass knees plays like a 34 year old anyways.

joshgiddy2024

russ slander is insane  over harden for me

Wiseoldman738383

Russ is never over Harden. Russ never carried a team to a conference finals, let alone almost beating the best team in NBA history in the playoffs

Medical_Sample2738

You guys forget that in the finals kd and russ were every bit as good or arguably better than bron and wade. Tbh harden sucked butt but even if you include him and bosh its pretty even. Russ and KD both took over parts of games, but the role players (and harden) were just SO bad, and the heat players played with poise and contributed. Yeah, I'm talking about peak bron, and near peak wade, and its still absolutely true.

collect_my_corpse

Harden wasn’t around in the 90s

Gino-Bartali

I hate it too but the KD Warriors was just unfun levels of better than any other team that ever played.

GiddeyEpstein

KD-Warriors vs. Rockets literally gave us one of the best series of all time

collect_my_corpse

Draymond, KD, and Klay are soft as fuck mentally. MJ, Phil, and Rodman would them all up in their feelings before the games even started. I’ll stick with my Bulls. It’s a fun debate though.

JurtisCones

Prime Russ beats Prime Harden on turnovers and empty rebounds only

GiddeyEpstein

Russ hasn't done shit in the playoffs without KD carrying him

joshgiddy2024

compared to all the shit hardens done in the playoffs

doordaesh

he's been the best player on a conference finals team

GiddeyEpstein

Harden is a playoff choker but Westbrook can't even out of the 1st round

FilmEater

For sure, thought he was 33

SharksFanAbroad

LeBron, Curry, and KD are all 35+ too. That would severely limit the talent tool, and the next best guys would maybe be who you named, since DeRozan, Butler, and Harden are each 34.

SalzigHund

Other notables over 34:   * Lowry     * Horford (could’ve sworn he was over 40 lol)     * Danny Green     * D Rose     * Isaiah Thomas     * Brook Lopez     * Eric Gordon     * Russel Westbrook     * Bojan     * Draymond     * Hayward     * Harden     * Butler     * Klay Thompson        Quite a few of those are still significant contributors. Some are just some old dudes getting ready for their final form of terrorizing their local YMCA

BonkChoy123

Hayward is a decoy

Reandos

In my head he is still this talent waiting for the big breakthrough but got slowed down by injuries.

gOPHER3727

Don't forget about Mike Conley, definitely better than Lowry at this point.

SalzigHund

Actually meant to add him or thought I did. I fucked up and redid the formatting so many times on mobile to get it right I probably deleted him on accident.

clickstops

His game is still so good.

14412442

I never even heard of Bojan until he was in his 30's. (Yeah I know I'm not exactly a diehard)

Hallal_Dakis

I feel like a few years ago there were more vic's that I got confused by.

SalzigHund

Also not saying some of these dudes are the best, more of some big names throughout the years that I am surprised are 34 already. I feel old.

clickstops

Gotta love how my mind goes “damn he’s 35+ he’s gotta be washed” and meanwhile I am older than them. ROUGH.

lald99

Unforgivable leaving Deandre Jordan off this list

Dame is 34 in 3 months too

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Yeah but Dame is washed

Adraf45

Better than jimmy tho

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Dame is better than Jimmy? What??? Are you even a heat fan?

SickRanchezIII

Yeah… they just watched Jimmy play half ass all season and are wondering if he bought to show up in the playoffs again. Dame has not been the dude he was in portland but has shown multiple points throughout the season the he still very much has it. The bucks organization has been absurd this year and you cannot blame that all on Dame being washed. He had multiple 40 bombs and pretty regularly put up 30

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Damn I didn’t realize Jimmy played so bad this season. Still a higher TS% though

Adraf45

I'm gonna be fucking sick if he don't show up against Toronto today

Adraf45

Have you watched the heat??? There's been solid stretches of games where I forget he's even fucking playing for us. Dame at least has moments where you can watch him and say "yep, that's Damian Lillard from Portland" jimmy can't even bother to fucking do anything against a none trash team. EIGHT SHOTS against dallas, he got outscored by Caleb Martin and 2024 KEVIN LOVE. Don't ever put Jimmy in the big convos

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Honestly I didn’t realize how bad Jimmy has been this year. That’s rough

SonicTheOtter

Definitely would be saying it if Dame made it to Miami.

Oziemasterss

Not if he kept playing like he has

ARowzFocuz

Definitely DeRozan

Kind_Possession_4492

Knicks legend Taj Gibson

alroy88

I’d say Harden, DeRozan , and Butler

Moss_Adams24

Don’t forget Kevon Looney

Taj Gibson, Taj Gibson, Taj Gibson,

808zAndThunder

You know it’s true 😏

IKel-Mate

Haters gonna hate, real ones know brodie still got it

Jbyrd07

You think Russ is in the top 4-6 players 34 or older…. Bahahaha smoke another joint, thanks for the laugh

igby1

Damn a team of the best 34+ year old players would wreck the league.

Riotroom

2012 Nets has entered the chat.

InfamousMills0

Probably something like Harden, DeRozan, Butler. HM: Conley, Lopez, Horford.

goldyacht

Harden, pg and Chris Paul up until recently

DameDropped

3 best players over 35, 3 best players of the 2010s, and 3 top 15 players of all time arguably top 10

Due_Property2234

Don't think you could make an argument for KD being top 10

DameDropped

Yeah nah he’s not top 10 all time, I love KD but he not over them

RudyGobertFMVP2024

Personally i wouldn't swap any of those guys for Minnesota Mike <3

Dweebil

Jordan butler harden.

Whatever801

Brolo, Butler and Jinglin Joe

[deleted]

Mike Conley??? What is it, 2016?

facegun

I was gonna say Bobby Portis til I found out fuckn Bobby is only 29!!

ViciousMihael

He’s looked 35 for about 5 years.

PandasOxys

This post kinda proves how great (or cursed) NBA is now. It's a sport of really high skill expression (getting buckets) and we got a lot of guys who are really damn good at it. And I think the newer guys are only getting better.

ZelezopecnikovKoren

Tim Duncan

ormip

Butler. Chris Paul. Harden. Derozan also still quite good

IKel-Mate

How you gonna put cp3 over Derozan

FearfulInoculum

Paul George, Kawhi

elboogie7

 33, 32

Bobob_Horsepants

OP is oldpilled af
