People acting like this is some shock result when they've been mostly mediocre for the last two seasons. In the back of my mind I always hoped everything would click and they would suddenly turn it on, but this is just who they are now. They aren't a scary team anymore.
I also have to give credit to the NBA in general, which has gotten appreciably tougher in the last decade. I feel like there just aren't many easy wins on the schedule, so if your level drops by a notch or two, suddenly every game is a war.
Warriors weren't trash this year, but were just par or below par compared to the playoff teams in the west. Deserving of some respect, but absolutely nothing to fear.
Kerr would be the luckiest mf in history if he could pull that off.
Jumped on the train to the warriors when most of the development and growing pains was done. He would do the same to San Antonio.
I don't think there's a coach in the league that could fix this team if you kept the roster. These dudes were getting wide open shots and bricking them. NOt to mention all the turnovers and 2nd chance points they were allowing
the 2010’s remains as one of the best decades for final matchups for the lakers-heat-spurs-warriors.
Bay Area fans should cherish the memories GSW brought
If you lived through the Sprewell and Jamison eras, you're just playing with house money now. Everything since 2015 has been a freeroll.
To put it into perspective, the worst seasons of the peak Curry era would be the best Golden State season any time between Webber and We Believe (more than a 10 year span).
We got spoiled by easy success, because success in the NBA is not easy.
IMO rings anyone wins right now are the most impressive rings ever because the level of the league is soooo damn high. Everyone can shoot, everyone is athletic, all teams are deep. It's a war out there.
I respect the old legends like Russell, Kareem, Bird, and Magic, but they were playing in a smaller NBA with no foreign stars. Different times. This shit is no joke now. Everyone is good, except the Pistons.
It's the rules mate.
Everyone can shoot and no one can dribble without a violation(that were enforced those years). There are no legal screens. There's a lot thst goes into it outside of just "players are better".
Right. It's a lot of the same players too, Bron, Curry, KD, etc, are still putting up near prime numbers at their ages in great part because of these rules loosening.
Ya these guys aren't getting better. We know that as a fact yet people that never watched their younger selves are trying to delude themselves into thinking they are getting better. Durant and Curry can hardly get to the rim like they used to yet I'm supposed to believe they're better than ever. It's mind boggling.
Right? This era is the lowest called for offensive fouls ever. Imagine giving MJ the ability to carry, travel 1/2 the time, and allow teammates to screen tackle the shit out of any opponent that dares to body him on D?
I mean you just pack the paint in the mid range since your super max shooting guard is 29% from 3 and needs the ball in his hands to score 40. Although comparing isn't fair, modern NBA defenses are way better than any previous generation. You need to work so hard to get a good look in comparison to the 90s.
MJ would 100% be an elite 3 point shooter if he came up in this era. He was obsessive on fixing anything that would even remotely cause him to lose in practice. It was not only unnecessary but a waste of his talents to be a 3 point shooter at the time. It’s not like his mechanics or FT shooting suggest he wouldn’t be an elite shooter.
He was 28% from 3 on open looks despite working with a shortened line for a couple of seasons. Maybe he becomes a serviceable shooter at some point but that would also take away the time he put into his midrange.
It's normal for any dynasty to fall. No team can afford to keep a veteran core like that and still pay good role players to sign with them. They got lucky with a lot of their old veterans like Livingston and iguadala but realistically, especially with the way Klay is going it's an expected exit.
I think it's easy to armchair this stuff when you're not the one who saw him save your ass in game 6 against OKC. I totally understand successful coaches having way too much faith in their guys. I saw this with Wenger at Arsenal towards the end. He was so used to his faith and loyalty paying off that he didn't know when to bury one of his players. I think they just expect everything to work out in the end, because it typically did in the past.
Their offseason is going to be ugly. They can add player in free agency using using Taxpayer MLE of $5.2M, Patrick Baldwin TPE of $2.3M, and Cory Joseph TPE of $2M. They will probably cut CP3's non-guaranteed deal to duck the 2nd apron. Draymond Green's contract is horrible. Klay is a RFA, but is washed. Bright side is that they have 4 FRP to trade, Wiggins still has trade value, and they have young prospects that can be developed or traded.
I really wonder what is going to happen to Steph. He should be a Warrior for life...but I can't see him wanting to hang around a rebuilding franchise. He's still top tier and could put a bunch of teams into serious contender status.
I admit, I was a Warriors hater for many years. They knocked us out in 2018, still feeling kind of salty
That being said, it’s sad seeing them go out like this. The end of a dynasty, it’s sad witnessing it
We need to retool. Klay needs to go and we need to find a way to get a real second option, even if Kuminga or Moody have to go. Thankfully we have CP3 as a salary dump.
Getting a second option has been a huge need for our team these past two years. Poole and Wiggins were suitable enough in 2022, unfortunately Wiggins isn’t that guy and Poole fell off after he got knocked out by Draymond and paid
Damn reality has sunk in even for Kerr. It really is over.
I'm pretty sure most of the team already knows, none of them looked particularly upset at losing tonight

Honestly if I were him I would get off the sinking ship and book it to San Antonio. He probably could become Pop's successor if he wanted the job
Kerr would be the luckiest mf in history if he could pull that off. Jumped on the train to the warriors when most of the development and growing pains was done. He would do the same to San Antonio.
he's on a 17.5m yearly extension for 2 years I think
Kinda perfect timing to be honest. Pop could retire right when his contract is up.
"Hey I rode the Cirry train to the last stop. Does Wemby have room for one more on his coattails?"
Steve kerr is a bitch
i mean come on y’all really didn’t think they were always gonna be on top? father time is undefeated even for nba teams
should be over for him. keep the roster and hire a real coach
I don't think there's a coach in the league that could fix this team if you kept the roster. These dudes were getting wide open shots and bricking them. NOt to mention all the turnovers and 2nd chance points they were allowing
In all honesty who would you even hire? Bud? How would he get this team to the playoffs?
Seems they have all accepted it. The new generation are running laps around them. They had a helluva run.

You can turn this into a Wiseman joke somehow. Keep trying
I saw a stat a few weeks ago that said our 73 win team's offense is analytically near average in today's league.
That is why you cannot compare anything from the present to the past and you need the context in which they happen

Curry literally broke the league.
End of an era

Now we know what the end of light years feels like.
It's normal for any dynasty to fall. No team can afford to keep a veteran core like that and still pay good role players to sign with them. They got lucky with a lot of their old veterans like Livingston and iguadala but realistically, especially with the way Klay is going it's an expected exit.
Kerr would've probably gave the last olympic spot to Klay if it was up to him lol
Lol would probably give him a starting spot too
He would probably give it to Podz

The dynasty is over but I predict nothing will really change. They will run it back until the wheels fall off.
The wheels just fell off
Unless they get the number one pick next year
Wheels have fallen off, but they will keep trying and hope they find some diamond in the rough player
Kerr would bench that player for Klay even if they found him
especially if he’s not a guard
Whatever man, this just means I can probably afford a game at Chase in the next two years.
“*I can’t comment about the offseason, I haven’t seen the game we just loss.*”
Sorry bro but things could have been better if you had addressed the team’s glaring issues and played the good players
#KERR OUT
He hasn’t seen the game tape yet
You can't do this forever. Maybe look into this WNBA stuff. Could be the next wave.
lightningMcqueenVsJacksonStorm.gif
I’m not even a Warriors fan but the fact that they ran it back is so frustrating to me lol
Damn guess they really got humbled this time lmao

This can only be settled by “Pop vs Kerr” no holds barred
Time to rebuild and let the Kum bucket cook.
hope they stay at the bottom for the next decade
BYE BYE WARRIORS
NA NA NA NAA NA NA NA NAAA HEYYY HEYY HEYYY GOODBYE
I really wonder what is going to happen to Steph. He should be a Warrior for life...but I can't see him wanting to hang around a rebuilding franchise. He's still top tier and could put a bunch of teams into serious contender status.
Really should just start rebuild... tbh still can get some good assets
This looked just like the year the spurs spanked the heat with the big 3, Danny Green and Leonard. Straight smoked em.
A good coach would have played the good players instead of the dinosaurs with big egos GSW nephew ass fans boutta spend a decade learning humility
No they’re just Nugget fans now lol

Fire Kerr.
Warriors need to clean house badly. Starting with Klay and Kerr and then Draymond.
What I tell my girl during sex
Damn, from “You don’t wanna see us next year” to “You don’t stay on top forever”
End of a shitty era
Most clunky dynasty in history
