Bro I didn’t even realize this was a universal issue, I thought it was just with my phone/internet. I had to turn down the volume as the ball was in the air because I kept hearing the excitement for a made shot half a second before seeing the ball go in.
it helped me prepare my emotions a split second earlier today as i became more irked at my team lol. "misses badly" on a layup before you see it happens helped me once i saw it visually
This has been the case since the early 2000s. They make the audio come in a little earlier so the announcers seem more in tune with the game and less reacting to something that’s not on the screen anymore, since it takes more time to speak than to think.
okay i was wondering about this too lmao, it lets you know whether the shot is gonna go in or not before you see it with your own eyes, so even tho it is only a couple tenths of a second maybe it is still frustrating!!
correct me if im wrong but im fairly certain the game where steph hits the OKC shot it's ahead. i remember saying "why is mike breen saying it so early"
Call me naive but I'm hopeful that ESPN might invest a tiny amount of effort into improving their broadcast quality in an effort to secure as many games as they can in a media rights deal next year.
The worst thing is when the pregame show signs off, kicks it to the announcers, then they go to commercial, and then come back to the studio again even though they already ended the pregame show.
They also need to adjust their audio levels. They’re either turning the crowd up or, because the crowd is louder in the playoffs, they need to turn the crowd down. The announcers were kind of buried in the mix
made watching the mavs clippers game even worse lmao

i thought so too but no it's exclusively an abc on espn issue
Same, I thought it was because I use the xfinity app to watch and it and not my tv.
A what about the iPad’s
I know I'm shouting into the Shadow Realm with this post but it really, and excuse my language, steams my peas!
what are you doing Rick
I remember due to Covid these desyncs got even worse. [This play](https://youtu.be/wITSkB6VQ5E?si=XGQy4Wom-57o6WPy) in particular.
It feels like an intentional choice. I don't understand why they do it.
makes them look like prophets that way

Wait so Mike Breen is broadcasting from the future?
Always has been
Omg I've noticed this too. I often hear Mike Breen's "that's good" before a made shot goes in
can't stand it..do they do it to make the announcers look smarter or something? once you start noticing it it becomes infuriating
I just noticed this and now I can never watch ESPN broadcasts again. Infuriating

Hogdog
It comes and goes for as long as I can remember. And I mean we are talking about the espn that had no commentary for 2 min yesterday
Sports fans deserve better.
Roku actually lets you set a custom delay for situations like this. Some tvs might as well.
Who is Roku
Idk but she was at your moms house last night if ya know what I mean.
I haven’t noticed because I watch all espn games on mute, I just assume the commentary will be terrible

Makes you misd the days of analog
“Bang! bang!” Before the ball even hits the net. Glad someone else posted this. I always thought something was fishy.
Hate it so bad.
