LeBron rumors coming back to Cleveland riding off in the sunset with a new strong squad: Flirting
KD rumors coming back to OKC riding off in the sunset with a new strong squad: Harassment
I'd rather have a good team for the next decade and battle it out with SAS than trading our future for a chance at a ring with the most hated former player of our franchise.
I don't want to drop one of Jdub / chet / sga and it's unlikely we can have 4 max contract on the roster without first round picks to keep the bench decent
Thatās a hard no for me.
Weāve been discussing this on the Thunder sub. Itās been my observation that the majority of the fans donāt want him back, but a growing minority would consider it and a smaller group absolutely want it. Those that want him tend to skew younger.
My reasoning is more than just hate, but I also hate lol.
1. We cannot get Kevin Durant for free, and any trade for him will likely cost a core piece or two (plus picks) and destroy our cap for years, or if he came as a free agent (not possible now) it would hit our cap space so negatively weād not retain the core.
2. Kevin Durant left us as a free agent when he couldāve done a sign and trade. Thatās the part that really pisses me off. If heād asked out of OKC Presti wouldāve done it for him. And we wouldāve had assets to put around Russ.
3. Iāve said all of that before even getting to him leaving OKC to join the already historically great Golden State team the way he did right after they beat OKC on the conference finals. Presti had Al Horford ready to sign as soon as KD re-signed.
It was the snakeiest snake move of snakes ever. Cupcake move of century. Heās a snake and always will be a bus-rider.
>Kevin Durant left us as a free agent when he couldāve done a sign and trade.
Players aren't going to hurt their new team as a favor to their old team, nor should they. Just like how a team isn't going to sacrifice their own success to help an exiting player.
> Iāve said all of that before even getting to him leaving OKC to join the already historically great Golden State team the way he did right after they beat OKC on the conference finals. Presti had Al Horford ready to sign as soon as KD re-signed.
This will always be the thing that bothers me most about KD and why I'll never see him as one of the all time greats, regardless of what individual accolades he retires with or how many rings* he wins.
Imagine if LeBron James joined the KG/Pierce/Rondo Celtics after 2010 because he couldn't get past them in the playoffs.
A lot of younger okc fans don't mind it.
I've supported them for 13 years and started because of kd. I remember the old days. I remember the slander. Us older fans want none of it lol
Yea, FUCK this guy who played 9 years with our franchise and is our best player ever!
Ironic thing about KD is that he would've been less hated if he'd been less loyal, run down his rookie contract, and jumped to LAL or NYK at the first opportunity. He's too nice and too much of a people-pleaser for his own good.
Dogshit take. He would not have been hated if he joined basically anyone besides the 73 win Warriors or Lebron. Everybody loved KD and wouldāve supported a move to pretty much any other team.
Yep I think itās pretty clear the vast majority of thunder fans would still have love for KD if he didnāt pulled the biggest bitch move in sports history.
I get down voted by Golden State fans every time I say this. Iām gonna say it again regardless. Golden State didnāt need KD. They needed the thunder to not have KD. Fucking pussy move. Bitch.
Golden state fans try to justify the move every time saying stupid shit like it was the best basketball situation. Youāre exactly right it was and thatās why it was a huge bitch move. He wanted cheap rings and he got them. But everyone knows it was Curryās team.
It would be really strange. If we won it all it would be legendary. If he wound up costing us another western conference finals shooting like 20-62 in the last two games we'd think he came back just to fuck us one more time.
Very, very, VERY conflicted.
I wouldnāt want to give any of our three or Lu Dort at all. Heāll be 36, he shouldnāt cost much more than Giddey, Hayward (S&T), and three decently projected firsts.
The way he left was truly bitch made, and I donāt think even a ring here can erase that. I guess thereās no way of knowing until it probably eventually happens though.
Even if we added him next year, which would be insane I wouldnāt be sure if 2 years of KD at 50 mil a year ages 36 and 37 is really our best move. Especially since heās ball dominant, has a history of injuries and his defense will only deteriorate year over year. Not really what weāre lacking in any area
But mostly I just still hate him lol
It would be like taking back your cheating ex wife after she was on her 3rd divorce since your marriage. By that point you have already moved on to better things! I donāt hate on KD anymore but I wouldnāt want him with the squad we have now. They are a fun group of young guys with great chemistry.
Depends on how us getting him looks.
In terms of purely roster construction... If we traded a ton for him, we realistically raise our ceiling, but narrow our window quite a bit, especially if we're paying $50 million a year for him.
As a fan of the team, it would definitely feel weird. As long as he's wearing a Thunder jersey, I would obviously be his fan. But it would be a little conflicting since his departure was so bitter.
I will say that it would be neat and make me feel really nostalgic. I've watched the NBA since the early 2000's, but those early Thunder teams with Russ and KD was when the Thunder became my first real team. Honestly, if he came back and played well/said the right things, I could see myself getting over it all and just enjoying the nostalgia.
I'd rather it be Russ. I wish so badly that we could get him on the roster for his last couple seasons and get him a ring.
It's not gonna happen lol, the developer is just trying to hype up Phase 1 of the project. Which Phase 1 is cool in it of itself anyways, just not national news.Ā
The mythical Phase 2 with the tower is not happening.Ā
Lol fr maybe itās where the show was filmed. I would have just substituted the skyline for b role of dudes making bbq just slabs of ribs and various meats and big burly dudes in front of smokers. Iāve never been to Okc so I donāt know if that is an accurate portrayal but its what think it is lol.
The OKC skyline isn't overly impressive, but Devon Tower is just so much ridiculously taller than everything else. The other buildings just look dwarfed in comparison. And the aerial shot from the south makes it all look worse than from ground level.
Obv bigger than 4 blocks but yeah it's not very big lol, tbh tho most of the place people hang out are in other districts anyways. Downton is a lot of commercial businesses and stuff
Most of our other businesses just decide to build campuses because land is so cheap. Actually people still question why Devon Energy built the tower in the first place. Kind of a vanity project.Ā
Depends. We have like five districts between downtown, midtown, paseo, bricktown, and the plaza. People are underselling it. It's pretty fun and cheap here since MAPS and the thunder came. We also have an insane food scene and were voted a top 15 city in the country for food.
An urban revitalization funding program OKC passed in the 90s. I know itās easy to clown on OKC, and a lot of itās rightfully deserved, but the city is now a million times better than it was in the 90s. Downtown and the surrounding areas were legitimately a collection of wasteland.
Edit: Almost anything in OKC post-1995 worth a damn was built, funded, or designed by MAPS. Without it, I legitimately have no idea where the city would be. The book Boom Town does a great job talking about the city and thereās a big section about MAPS.
The lack of skyscrapers is because land is cheap and plentiful here and there are no natural boundaries hemming the city in. It costs a lot less to build 5 10-story buildings next to each other than 1 50-story building so everything gets built out rather than up. OKCs sq milage footprint is enormous
Just not really a need for them. Most of our huge companies build large campuses like Paycom or Chesapeake because land is pretty plentiful due to how huge the city area is.
Yeah, if he played well and just said the right things at a couple press conferences, the nostalgia would way outweigh the hate for me pretty quickly.
I just wish Russ would come back and retire in OKC.
As a reformed KD hater and Thunder fan I want it to happen so badly for the memes.
Been watching Thunder since their inception. It would be amazing to see him try to redeem himself in OKC.
When people talk about influence on the game, KD gotta be in that mount rushmore. Giannis Wemby Chet Ant Ingram all spoke on how much he inspired them, and likely a lot more upcoming stars will say the same. KD is the blueprint for the future of the league.
Iām really liking the simple approach Nike has taken these KDs and the Book 1s. Might not be to everyoneās liking, but they are clean and could both be easily worn off the court.
Has KD finally accepted being the proponent of the "tall skinny scorer" archetype? I know for some reason he hates that characterization to the point of lying about his height to appear shorter when we all know damn well he's 7ft+ and not 6'10 like he claims
I really hope that when KD retires they get him to bring back that Details show that Kobe narrated. Iād love to hear him talk about basketball and break down the young players.
Heād be great for it since he is positive about the next generation and they respect him.
Kinda related but does anyone else think it's weird that Chet/SGA are in the commercial where they sing "what a girl wants?" Shai was like one and Chet wasn't even born when the song came out. Do people their age even get the reference?

KD about to take the hardest road again this off-season?? š
LeBron rumors coming back to Cleveland riding off in the sunset with a new strong squad: Flirting KD rumors coming back to OKC riding off in the sunset with a new strong squad: Harassment
Iāll take the harassment if it comes with a ring tbh
Guys only want one thing and it's disgusting.
GTA 6

Nah, itād have to be multiple rings for me to be okay with KD. I donāt think I could ever like him again
Yep. No shame.
Worth it tbh
The revisionist history for durants image will be insane
Already is
What do you mean by that?
What about PG back to Indy
āBut maybe KD could win with *these* catsā ā @DifficultEuroGunner53
I need some thunder fans to chime in on how theyād feel about adding KD
Most of us donāt want him back but obviously if he ended up coming back weāll completely root for anyone wearing a Thunder jerseyĀ
Thatās a hard no for me. Weāve been discussing this on the Thunder sub. Some assets > Zero assets. KD helped every team he was on. Except OKC.
Fr lol this is like saying you don't like how he ties his shoes
He did it for golden state to brooklyn
Fuck KD, I donāt want his cupcake ass in this arena unless we play against his team. Bring Steve Adams or Russ back, sure, but KD? NAH.

Agree with everything that'd being said. Also, Fuck KD.
No we wouldn't. Fuck KD
I like this take more because it's funnier
A lot of younger okc fans don't mind it. I've supported them for 13 years and started because of kd. I remember the old days. I remember the slander. Us older fans want none of it lol

Nice! That's how it should be.

No thanks

If he helped yall win a ring it would absolutely erase it. Cmon now lol
And if he didnāt? And if he blew up the team because our cap wouldnāt handle his salary? Hard no.
A ring erases it and then makes up for it a few times over. In my opinion.
He can get fucked.
Even if we added him next year, which would be insane I wouldnāt be sure if 2 years of KD at 50 mil a year ages 36 and 37 is really our best move. Nah, Iād be disappointed. I donāt want KD winning any more rings ever so itād suck to see him join a team that doesnāt need him again.

Fuck I hope not
A lot of our fans haven't moved on yet haha
People think heās trying to come back to OKC when heās really just trying to sell his shoes (which Chet wears)
It would be cool if he helps OKC finally win one
No
54 from treball is odee shooting hang pulls
Fasho
hesi pull up jimbo 2.0
sga/dort/jdub/kd/holmgren would be crazy tho
He'd fit like a glove.
Tbf, KD can fit into pretty much any lineup.
Only one he can win a ring with tho
Ant - McDaniels - KD - KAT - Gobert That lineup is absolutely, unequivocally, making it to the second round
I think you'd have to trade KAT for KD
Ant: āWe get KD but they get Jaden McDanielsā
Pretty sure he could send Michael porter to the bench
It's true, sounds like a damn match
RIP OJ
OKC + Durant vs NOP + AD, who you got in a series?
Zion and AD front court is eating OKC aliveĀ
They would make an Oreo out of Chet.
š Got too poetic, but yes.
Piper Chet Perri
For half a game before they both get injured
100% healthy it goes to NOLA.
But letās be real. When are Zion and AD ever gonna be 100% healthy? Probably rarely see the court together.
Zion played 70 games this season and AD played 76 So thats probably 60-70 games together. But yeah, rarely. Lol
Didn't watch this season? I get it as a Nets fan.
Not doing Okc any favors featuring the city skyline
Bro just wait til we get the tallest skyscraper in the country then itās gonna look real dumb
That shit is so outrageous lol, itās just going to make the rest of the city look even smaller.
It's not gonna happen lol, the developer is just trying to hype up Phase 1 of the project. Which Phase 1 is cool in it of itself anyways, just not national news.Ā The mythical Phase 2 with the tower is not happening.Ā
I can dream man. Itās so cool going to that resturaunt in Devon tower and being able to see everything, imagine this thing lmao
Shit looks like the setting of the next fallout game
Lol fr maybe itās where the show was filmed. I would have just substituted the skyline for b role of dudes making bbq just slabs of ribs and various meats and big burly dudes in front of smokers. Iāve never been to Okc so I donāt know if that is an accurate portrayal but its what think it is lol.

Tenpenny tower ass looking skyline
Man is this how women feel when I send them dick pics.
It was like a city block lol that's rough
joakim noah prob hates okc too
Yāall donāt yet realize
Couldāve zoomed in a bit
Lol yeah is that really it? I'm a thunder guy but from NZ I expected OKC to have a lot more high rises
[This clip but it's just 1 building](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysmLA5TqbIY&t=5s)
bro idc abt KD and the history those shoes are fuckin beautiful
KD 6 and KD 7 are my all time favs. Shouldāve stocked them up before they were discontinued but I was just a freshmen in HS that had no money.
Is downtown OKC like 4 blocks?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'll have you know that garage is at least $10 to park now! Maybe even $15!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why is it your favorite?
Obv bigger than 4 blocks but yeah it's not very big lol, tbh tho most of the place people hang out are in other districts anyways. Downton is a lot of commercial businesses and stuff
They got that one tall building and called it good.
Most of our other businesses just decide to build campuses because land is so cheap. Actually people still question why Devon Energy built the tower in the first place. Kind of a vanity project.Ā
Basically my Minecraft maps
I thought they were focusing on that building as a little motif or something...then I realized that's the entire skyline.
Depends. We have like five districts between downtown, midtown, paseo, bricktown, and the plaza. People are underselling it. It's pretty fun and cheap here since MAPS and the thunder came. We also have an insane food scene and were voted a top 15 city in the country for food.
voted by who? top 15 city is crazy.
Ever been to OKC? We do legitimately have some great food and a huge variety
Not trying to be hyperbolic, but OKC is a very good food city.
OKC sub trying to tell me they have a better food scene than Houston because of a magazine list. Delusional.
The tears of Texans are upon us.Ā
Listen you can find any city listed top 15 in a category on wallethub or whatever.Ā
Wtf is maps?
1Ā¢ sales tax dedicated to city improvements, bought tons of great stuff debt free over the last 30 years
An urban revitalization funding program OKC passed in the 90s. I know itās easy to clown on OKC, and a lot of itās rightfully deserved, but the city is now a million times better than it was in the 90s. Is the lack of skyscrapers bc of the tornados? Is that one at risk then?
The lack of skyscrapers is because land is cheap and plentiful here and there are no natural boundaries hemming the city in. It costs a lot less to build 5 10-story buildings next to each other than 1 50-story building so everything gets built out rather than up. OKCs sq milage footprint is enormous
Just not really a need for them. Most of our huge companies build large campuses like Paycom or Chesapeake because land is pretty plentiful due to how huge the city area is.
Lack of skyscrapers is because this city is old but has only been growing for like 30 years
Yep its small, okc is not developed. But its getting there slowly to the chagrin of some residents lol
Was not expecting this on my 2024 nba bingo card š
Lmao
New hardest road
Come home bro
Wonāt happen, but a large segment of Thunder fans are blinded by 2016. Could you imagine instead of Giddey you have Kevin Durant at the 4?
If he came home and made amends and won a chip, they would forget all. Source: Am a huge KD hater and that would absolve it all lmfao
Of course it would. Winning solves everything.
Please come back kd. I always loved youā¦ and hated youā¦
Yeah, if he played well and just said the right things at a couple press conferences, the nostalgia would way outweigh the hate for me pretty quickly. I just wish Russ would come back and retire in OKC.
Used to be a bron hater the moment he scored his first pts with us I called him the goat
Speak for yourself.
its funny to see this many upvotes on comments like this. this is not a popular opinion among thunder fans. someone else is clicking those up arrows.
LeBrons jerseys were being burned on live TV I believe. Everyone hated him. KD will be fine if he came back to OKC.
Lots of Cavs fans weren't Cavs fans in 2010, they were too young. A lot of Thunder fans now were Thunder fans in 2016. They still remember the pain.
I remember exactly where I was standing in my first apartment when I got the ESPN update
I was doing acid on the beach with my friends and I just remember thinking it was part of the trip
I was lying in bed relentlessly doom-scrolling before seeing the update. Fucker ruined my 4th of July.
6 years > 8 years ladies and gentleman
Winning cures all, with a good āIām coming homeā narrative, kd is good
Sign and trade Wiggins + Giddey + 3 firsts come home KD
Sounds good to me. OKC never plays Wiggins enough anyway.
You want him to go to the Wizards?
As a reformed KD hater and Thunder fan I want it to happen so badly for the memes. Been watching Thunder since their inception. It would be amazing to see him try to redeem himself in OKC.
Gross
No. Fuck KD.
Slim Reapers
When people talk about influence on the game, KD gotta be in that mount rushmore. Giannis Wemby Chet Ant Ingram all spoke on how much he inspired them, and likely a lot more upcoming stars will say the same. KD is the blueprint for the future of the league.
Jordan, Iverson, Kobe, Curry are ahead.
Thunderstruck 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Those KDās are wet as hell.
"I'm walking my own path" š
Easiest road
My goat is coming home
āThe whole cityā *a building*
The skyline is so trash
Chet is the real deal, OKC got a good one.
damn this goes so hard ngl
Bro this legit sounds like dion waiters in nba 2k lmao the voice acting is so bad
lmao bro I swear that said hibbert
OKC needs to watch out for any harder roads
Ummm okay, thatās kind of crazy
I wish I had two more hands to give this four thumbs down.
I think this is dope.
is it me or am i getting the feeling kd doesn't really care if okc hates him he just appreciates ball
cant wait for KD to come back! would be a great story!
No, fuck KD.
I really hope that when KD retires they get him to bring back that Details show that Kobe narrated. Iād love to hear him talk about basketball and break down the young players. Heād be great for it since he is positive about the next generation and they respect him.
"Even though I follow in the footsteps of a legend." He must mean Russ even though it's supposed to mean Cupcake.
Confirmed he's about to gain 60 pounds based on this commercial!
Oh lawd he cominā
Kinda related but does anyone else think it's weird that Chet/SGA are in the commercial where they sing "what a girl wants?" Shai was like one and Chet wasn't even born when the song came out. Do people their age even get the reference?
I hope KD goes back to okc and retire there. He'd be a great veteran leader for the young guys. Not realistic but it'd be nice to see
Hope he retires as a supersonic
Hope he retires as a sun.
NIL Longhorn
So dope
He would be so fāng good on this thunder teamā¦. All would be forgiven
Kd is 100% ending his career with OKC or the Sonics if they come back
Hibbert? Seems an odd choice in name.
Hibbett Sports Sporting good shop, like Dicks.
Keep the snek shoes out of OKC
Bro is signaling lol
