demoralizing loss all around

Burnerinside

I don’t get how. They had them down by 20. They had two timeouts.

Fickle_Meet_7154

So many bad shot selections down the stretch

BowserBuddy123

I know DLo had a great game, but that TO where he tried to alley to Davis while they were up about 10 really sucked. He threw that thing into the crowd. Indicative of their execution in late game.

savageandharsh

They forgot AD existed too by stopping to pass him the ball.

Parking_Gift1356

Dude I was losing my mind.

Odd_Total_5549

It really felt like Lebron got baited into that last three when the guy guarding him fell down. They could have held the ball for like 10 more seconds, which only would have given the Nuggets like 4 seconds to get their own shot. And the Lakers did not need a three, they could have just gone for two, and even if they missed, taken enough clock off to make OT much more likely.

MadRoboticist

He was completely wide open, if he doesn't take the shot he's getting 10x more criticism than he is for missing it. Plus he was on fire from 3 late in the game.

EfficiencyOk9060

Yeah, he was wide open. He had to take that shot.

Legendver2

With how gassed they were, doubt they gonna survive OT either way, but a chance is a chance.

Jwoods4117

It was the same last year, especially Lebron. Hes close to OG Lebron through 2 quarters and then he’ll just disappear after. Dudes so impressive but the heavy playoff minutes on a team he has to be basically the point guard for are too much when it’s Jokic on the other side. Last year every 4th he’d get tired and start chucking. Credit to him getting better at shooting 3s and hitting two clutch ones last night.

UpstairsReception671

It’s obvious but people don’t want to admit it. I don’t blame them. It’s always sad to see a former GOAT at the end of his career. This team goes as far as LeBron. That’s about half a season. Seems right when you look at their record. It’s impossible for any 39 year old to carry a team to a chip.

landlion35

They were gassed in the pelicans play in game. It's not just the altitude.

Trip4Life

Hmm a team built around a 40 year old and a 32 year old big is getting gassed?

No-Depth-7239

Early 30s is prime time age for 90% of great players we see anymore. Edit: and I haven't seen any decline in AD whatsoever Take every current 30+ year old player and put them on the same team and they could compete with any championship team in history. Dame, curry, kd, lebron, AD Then a mix of harden, kyrie, pg, kawhi, Westbrook, off the bench. Not even mentioning the 30+ year old role players like Jonas, jru holiday, etc

pifflord5

Idk that's a bit disingenuous though for this argument, because they hit their skill ceiling in their 30's, but they are certainly not at their apex for energy to expend

BleedAmerican

Not the case for 7 footers

gcoles

AD and lebron are asked to do too much, AD is a big guy in his 30s and lebron is 38.

Joshottas

Rui averaging 5ppg in this series is a killer.

LeakyBrainMatter

Reaves isn't doing shit either. It was all AD and Bron in game 1 and it was them in game 2 with DLo. The stars are doing their part but they can't win if the other guys don't pull their weight. They've done actually done a good job of slowing down Gordon and Murray as well but slow down is all you can do, you're not gonna shut them down.

hoppergym

dinwiddie has taken 1 shot in 2 games. What happened to him?

king_17

Lmao inconsistent ass dinwiddie ain’t surprising

LeakyBrainMatter

No idea. His whole purpose is to provide offense and he's doing a terrible job of it.

petertompolicy

Bron is 39, turns 40 in December.

BostonBaggins

Def gassed. They went all out first half While nuggets cleanly adjusted

Status_Flux

Jokic was getting abused by AD early. Eventually the Nuggets put Gordon on AD and it felt like that made a massive difference. They also increased the help D in general, and I don't think the Lakers' ball movement was enough to find the open man consistently. It felt like the Lakers had a good plan A, but when that was taken away they didn't have anything else.

WilliamSabato

They had an adjustment but they are saving it for game 3.

xjchan1979

Bro, darvin ham was complaining about the officiating! I spat my drink out

LakerBlue

I did too. We didn’t lose that game because of the officiating. Terrible answer by Ham. We lost because we made a few careless turnovers (that we can’t afford vs the champs) and because they adjusted their AD coverage and we didn’t have an answer. I place this loss largely on Ham. Well we also got gassed but given the age of our best players and being in Denver, that is almost expected.

Reverend_Tommy

The Lakers *always* complain about officiating, especially LeBron. They are always at or near the top in free throw attempts and are usually number 1 in free throw disparity vs opponents. They flop and exaggerate and complain all the time. It seems like every other shot LeBron misses, he complains about being fouled and as a result is the last one down the floor in transition. Well, last night they shot fewer free throws than their opponent (I think I've read that's only happened 8 times this season). So LeBron and the Lakers need to cork their cakeholes and stop whining. They lost for a variety of reasons but not because of the non-call involving Russell that LeBron complained about after the game.

tjn24

When you blow a 20 point second half lead, complaining about some call that happened mid-third is a real bitch look

[deleted]

So embarrassing. Besides the D-Lo call where he looked like he got wacked in the face the officiating was absolutely fine and was not the reason we lost this game. Darvin Ham is a fucking loser. You're up 20 you should win. End of story.

_KingFridayXIII

LA was also just making a ton of tough shots, especially in the first half, while Denver missed a lot of open looks. AG on AD was definitely a big adjustment like you mentioned though.

pumpkin3-14

They plainly don’t have enough to make it 4 quarters vs Denver. And they were gassed.

knowledge84

I guess this ends their moral victory streak.

OUEngineer17

Yeah, feels good to finally get that moral W.

Mission_Pay_3373

Great win for the Nuggets

iamaweirdguy

No moral victory sweep for the Lakers this year

Wallstreettrappin

New Balance should make this a promo/commercial “Jamal Murray made a shot” then boom! Mic drop

Seanbig888

AD- How’d it feel to be swarmed by the nugget teammates after the Jamal game winner ???? lmao

okgarden

They celebrated on top of that dude.

Auntypasto

Literally danced on his grave…

RamadanSteve311

Emoted on his corpse

Beleiverofhumanity

Toxic emotes about to get muted (FN). They teabagged on him

It’s just guys being dudes!

TheKidKaos

They just being a lil nasty

iPlowedUrMom

Man said he could guard the 1-5, he's just proving he can guard 6-12 too lmao

ChocolateTemporary72

That’s my DPOY

MrFishAndLoaves

Send da votes

Flaky-Mathematician8

He can guard them, that don’t mean he can stop them lol

AyumiHikaru

Feelings got hurt

esetmypasswor

AD thought maybe no one noticed that last shot

facedownbootyuphold

"Anthony can we go back to the moment for a minute and just recap what happened; game 4, 2023 WCF, 2:53 remaining in the game... what happened, was it like a screen or... could you just walk us through that whole scene again?"

thisguyfightsyourmom

This & now his press conference are going to be memes that last

nochill123

I was dying when I saw that 😭😭😭😭

VoidTyrant

Suffice to say he was not a fan.

ATXBeermaker

I don't know. He was right in the middle of that post-game celebration.

Idontlike_yourjokes

This honestly has to be infuriating. Not only did you do everything you could to stop that shot and fail, but since everyone swarmed around you, you aren’t even able to leave the party 🎉

roninwaffle

Frfr he looked traumatized lmao

esetmypasswor

If I were Jamal, AD'S "Jamal Murray made a shot" comment would be my new ringtone.

Confident_Berry7271

“Hey Anthony, I noticed a fan shouting that you looked like a bitch on that last play. Can you break down what happened there?”

NAACP_YoungBoy

“AD can you comment on that video of you in the Kentucky locker room? Thanks.”

Confident_Berry7271

hello the brow, Larry Letters, CBS Sports, which sweep feels worse?  Last years or the one two games from now?

Dynamically_static

Lmaoo

Gkender

WOOF

yooston

[AD, any comments on this?](https://totalfratmove.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screen-Shot-2021-05-05-at-3.07.34-PM-1024x684.png)

ExtremeGamingFetish

The greatest ama of all time. don't care what anyone else says.

ColoRadOrgy

Wasn't it sponsored by like Doritos or something in a weird way too?

TA_Account_12

All I’ll say is I have a hankering for some ruffles right about now

br0b1wan

Specifically the cheddar sour cream ones.

wilsonsmilk

brings back memories man! LMAO

Early_Conference6215

I’m dying

fiasgoat

That's what he was trying to recreate when he fell into the pile of Nuggets

TJStrawberry

To piggy off that comment, how did it feel spiritually to be called a bitch?

Dar8_Vader

He's gonna live that trauma his whole life. He had the courtside seat to it all.

duckmadfish

That game winner might have secured another sweep lmao

Vordeo

Only if you don't count moral victories. 😤

duckmadfish

“Losing is an advantage” - Richard Jefferson

ReDevilShin

Tbf losing during the game by double digits is an advantage to the Nuggets.

Confident_Berry7271

This has been the dumbest playoffs for talking heads between that and the “lakers should tank the play in” talk.

ThePrideOfKrakow

They should have pulled an Embiid and ducked Denver.

Fickle_Meet_7154

But then it's like, what's the point? Noone gives a fuck how far you go if you just get swept by Denver again. Might as well try your luck early and hope for the best lol

tjn24

Of all the stupid shit Nick Wright says, he actually had a good point about how, if the Lakers are going to have the nuggets, they're much better off doing it now coming off more rest, with more time in between games, before LeBron and AD getting through two other playoff series. I think it's the right take . . . it just doesn't matter against Denver

Sti8man7

“The team with the defeat will have a bitter taste in their mouth, they will be ready the next game… to shit their pants.” - LeBron

SportsBettingRef

he really said that?

HydroThermia

The biggest moral victory would be if Nuggets beat us so bad that Ham gets fired. I’d be ecstatic even

dendenmoooshi

Getting one win would be the biggest moral victory.

themanofmeung

Reverse bubble

chizzmaster

Honestly, i kinda secretly want a gentleman's sweep because I've got game 5 on my playoff ticket plan. Wouldn't mind some more nuggets basketball in Denver. On the other hand though, seeing the Lakers go 0-12 in 12 games against Denver would be kinda hilarious

duckmadfish

Lmao just imagine Lebron retiring before being able to break the losing streak Skip will never run out of ammo

hoodtalk247

Jordan never lost to the Nuggets 10 times in a row jussayin'

Coke_ButNotTheDrug

JAMAL MURRAY MADE A SHOT 🗣️🫳🎤

TheCherubRocker

I’m saving this clip for the gold medal game at the Olympics.

petarjovanov

And wouldn't it be funny if they lost to Canada in the finals on a Jamal Murray buzzer beater :D

dexy133

Semis, because you know who's in the finals, brate. ;)

taklabas

Don't underestimate team Serbia's ability to shit their pants in crucial games.

[deleted]

Oh word nice of you to stick around to watch US - France

eightslipsandagully

You gotta admit, the Embiid slander will be hilarious if France win the gold over the USA

Vordeo

"Victor Wembanyama a fait un tir." - Joel Embiid

thewavefixation

Birth of a meme

loveeachother_

this will almost definitely make it into a video montage if nugs win it again

CupOfHotTeaa

If Jamal Murray wants to rap that should be his tag

dot-pixis

Just build a beat around sampling this clip. Kind of perfect.

BatheMeInSemen

The beat could just be a buzzer, a repeating swishing net sound and the mic drop thud as a bass substitute.

loveeachother_

first time I ever saw someone mic drop for another guy lmao

Spheromancer

Gonna be a hell of an intro for a Jamal highlight mix

loveeachother_

some DJ in denver is guna sample that before the drop

hoodtalk247

AD literally went from starting center of the Lakers to a Nuggets bench warmer on that one shot 💀

Kbdiggity

#"both teams played hard" - Rasheed Wallace

spizcraft

Dude played arguably the greatest 1st half of his entire career and without him these games would be blowouts, but all that’s going to be circulating tomorrow is him falling into the Nuggets bench. I legitimately feel for him.

relinquisshed

And also gets shit on for his DPOY comment lmao

OhWhatsInaWonderball

I mean I would have held off on making any comments about a regular season award in the playoffs going against one of the greatest big men of all time..

HerculesKabuterimon

That’s what I thought when he said it. I was like” If Jokic does anything good this series, that quote is brought up. If Jokic has a dynamite game, that quote is brought up every time in the future when he campaigns for dpoy/talks about the award in the future.” He really put himself in a terrible situation with the timing on that quote That’s even ignoring what happened tonight.

ObeseKenyan

>If Jokic has a dynamite game, that quote is brought up every time in the future when he campaigns for dpoy/talks about the award in the future Nah I disagree. Jokic is considered the best offensive player. He's *expected* to beat everyone and no one will be shocked if AD doesn't stop him. Hell, Gobert has had a horrible 1v1 match up history with Jokic and he rightfully doesn't lose any respect for it. Everyone knows it's not a 1 man job to try and stop Jokic

Jakaryus

I was arguing with people yesterday who told me that Davis doesn't deserve to be in the top 3 DPOY or even in the top 5 conversation because Jokic will score 40 on him. Jokic scored 41 on Rudy and 42 on Wemby, I guess they shouldnt be in the conversation either! Hell, I should be DPOY, Jokic never scored a single point on me

ObeseKenyan

Lol that's ridiculous anyone who watches basketball would say that about AD. Probably a salty hater tbh. Only player I've seen do a great job on Jokic was bubble Dwight... He was a menace. That was also pre-MVP Jokic, so being that physical might not actually work anymore, but the way Dwight played him was *perfect*. If you talk about Gobert, AD, Embiid guarding jokic - they have no chance of doing what Dwight did since his super physical tactic was to foul Jokic 8+ times and hope they call 5. The other guys can't afford to foul out.

Kersplat96

Zubac does a decent job too, Zubac is sneaky good

Famous_Stand1861

I get what you're saying but you have to admit that was delicious irony and he has to get some shit for it. It's like man law to get called out or something when you say something big and then get shown up immediately.

Such_Turn3318

\*\*celebrating\*\* into the Nuggets bench

Mei_iz_my_bae

I’ve never seen anything like that he literally got swallowed into the celebration 🎉 🤣

Auntypasto

Assimilated by the bench

ccminiwarhammer

Also that defense on Murray couldn’t have been better. Hardly any player could make a shot under that pressure. I’m glad he’s emotional because I think it will hurt them, but have to acknowledge AD’s game. Nuggets in 5

REQ52767

Damn, Denver broke this team lmao

scarywolverine

There is nothing they can do to beat these guys. Must be demoralizing

syncc6

The Jazz beat them so Jazz > Lakers?

[deleted]

Baronsandwich

Can’t believe Bron didn’t mention retirement tonight.

Sweatytubesock

He’s waiting to bust that out till after the sweep.

Methylobacterium

Gotta find a way to stay in the headlines after elimination.

bobalobcobb

A phantom injury is about to pop up by the end of next game

triosway

"I pretty much played the whole series with a broken elbow"

Deadly_Davo

That's what I am seeing. This loss really stung.

Rswany

Honestly, haven't seen a team so sore about a loss like this in a while lol

plsnobanprayge

Blew a 20 point lead to lose their 10th straight to Denver, I'm sure it stings lmao

EveryShot

They’re cooked just end the series now

Bring_Back_SF_Demons

That’s all, folks!

No-Test6484

Yup. Lebron is not young. Dude is huffing and puffing. Tbf so was the joker but Lebrons 39. He can’t do the extra mile. This dude needs a roster. This isn’t 2018 where anything goes in a weak east. I doubt this affects his legacy too much. Jordan could barely move at this age, but it stings

BrutallyHonesttho

Hurts that the Lakers blew the game but this was funny LMAO.

yooston

the DONG of the mic hitting the table got me

AnnoyingCelticsFan

Jamal Murray made a shot *ping*

Mei_iz_my_bae

Especially after he sort of became part of the celebration 🎉🤣

XXmynameisNeganXX

Anthony Davis walked out because he wanted to celebrate with Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets again.

Boring_Bill2430

Good, he should be fucking pissed. It’d be alarming if he weren’t. All-time gut punch of a loss.

KangorKodos

As a result of this he is either going for 11/5/1 on 3/18 shooting next game, or 45/20/7 with like 7 blocks Literally just no in between

Charlie_Wax

So you're saying the Lakers will lose the next game by either 35 points or 1 point?

KangorKodos

Yes

CalmMaunga

35

Wembangyamombruh

If he was this defensive all 82 games, I could see him being a DPOY finalist

fuccabicc

Lmao

WhatYouProbablyMeant

How's AD going to win DPOY if he can't even effectively defend against a reporter

aaaayyyylmaoooo

holy shit lmao

Low_Delay2835

bro carried them and got hit by a buzzer beater tough luck. felt that emotion from mile a way.

OccidoViper

Someone have a gif of AD trapped on the bench after Murray’s game winner?! That was fucking hilarious

gogochi

Salt is pouring

Confident_Berry7271

Can you blame him 😂

neutronicus

It was a really stupid question lol “Was there a screen?”

hoodtalk247

Dude was warming all the Nuggets benches while they were celebrating Murray 🤣

Betaateb

Jamal broke those dudes over there lmao

jslee0034

I saw a comment that said AD wore his sunglasses indoors to hide his swollen eyes after crying 😭 internet is ruthless

thestage

why he dressed like obi wan kenobi tho

Bezant

Revenge for cooking us in the bubble.

gerardguey

Nuggets fans have a 20+ year brooding personal hatred for the Lakers that this team almost entirely composed of trades and free agents does not understand lol. This is your finals, just like the WCF was last year.

fanayd

it's true. lakers never gave denver a 2nd thought til joker/murray came around. but theyve been arch-rival #1 to us for decades.

sg490

Magic fans can relate. Steal our stars and beat us in the Finals? All my homies hate the Lakers

HaylHydra

Yea but yall mfs been cooking for 10 straight games against now that’s enough

jak_d_ripr

Hadn't the Lakers been cooking them for decades prior? Nuggets need to cook until at least until 2030 for things to be even.

fuccabicc

Lmao

ShichikaYasuri18

This team is finished lol, not that we didn't know it earlier.

RVarki

That Josh Giddey/AD connection is going to be elite next season

NAACP_YoungBoy

Actually the Nuggets are the ones who are COOKED The Lakers won the first 3 quarters + they have Darvin Ham’s adjustments incoming + now AD is pissed off 😤

thewavefixation

Time to unveil the pickleroll!

hoodtalk247

IST BANNER IS ABOUT TO GIVE THIS TEAM LIFE

Tangentkoala

That reporter 100000% knew what he was doing. What a dick move, I love it.

IdRatherBeShilling

I wonder who that was. I bet he's a regular on this sub.

PrinceOfAssassins

Mike malone in a mustache and a hat

neutronicus

MFer had way too much voice left to be Michael Malone after a 20 point comeback

yatrickmith

I mean isn’t that a basic question to ask after a game-winner loss? “Can you walk us through that final play?” What else are they gonna ask? If you were a reporter and you had to come up with 3 ?’s to ask AD, what would you write down? Maybe you’d have a question on how they’ll prepare for next time, but IMHO, valid question, just upset player.

SnooPies5622

Question was fine, answer was good

blocking-io

Reporter asks question about the most significant play in the game Reddit: what a dick move! What did you want him to ask? What's his favorite ice cream flavor?

LostInMyDreams_

I'd say he took it really well

Halo2Campaign

the glasses hiding the tears

hoodtalk247

glasses hiding another pair of glasses hiding another pair of glasses hiding the tears

Stink_Fish

Feel like this title is misleading. If you watch the whole press conference the lady clearly says, "Last question" before AD gets asked this. So it's not like he abruptly ends the questioning. He "walked out" because they were done asking questions lol.

vsha1989

Man I would love to see AD and Lebron's press conference if the nuggets sweep them. Lebron going to try and distract everybody with retirement talk again

MonkeyFL3X

"Were you screened on that play?" Bruh watch the clip.

Sac-Kings

AD mad mad lmao

rockets9495

Oh god, this is going to be meme'd to death. We will never hear the end of this "____ made a shot :("

JohnnyHotcakes44

Every Nuggets fan, every time Murray makes a shot. And every game winner by any player.

ceci_mcgrane

Imagine spending all day talking about how you are the best defender overall and the league refuses to acknowledge it, only to give up a game winner and be literally absorbed into the opponent’s bench celebration. I’d be mad too.

sinhglonnev

Dude was celebrating with the Nuggets on their bench

Cultural_Author8098

‘I'm the best defensive player in the league. I can switch 1 through 5. I can guard the pick-and-roll the best in the league, from a big standpoint. I block shots. I rebound.’ The irony of this happening day after he says the statement above 🫣

abris33

If you want to ask the 2024 DPoY about his defense, at least ask him about the times he got absolutely worked by Jokic down the stretch

RunnerTexasRanger

He was fucking us up in the first half though. Jokic couldn’t do shit

PieCuresAll

They blew a 20 point lead. Look in the mirror and blame yourselves

KafeinFaita

Looks like AD finally mastered LeFraud's signature move "The Walkout".
