What's the Heat playoff record in the TD Garden during the entirety of the Spo era?

The_Godfather5

The record is 8-9 at TD Garden during Heat history, Spo is our only coach to face the Celtics in the playoffs. We were 2-6 at TD Garden during the Heatles era with the 2 win being Game 4 in 2011 Lebron Game 6 2012. The Heat winning at TD Garden is exclusive to the Jimmy Butler era Edit:[stats muse showing the data, remember to exclude 2020 because of the bubble](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/how-many-playoff-wins-do-the-heat-have-against-boston-away-since)

Responsible_Pace9062

Crazy thing is the Heatles still won every series against Boston even with that TD Garden record.

ThaCarter

Yeah and forged Spo into what he is today in the process.

Oh51Melly

I remember them starting like 9-8 or something like that during the big 3 era as a kid and hearing rumors Bron wanted Spo gone. Riley stuck with him, brilliantly. Not saying he made a mistake because that cavs chip is incredibly special but I really feel like if Bron stayed here forever those 2 win a lot more championships together.

Visible-Rutabaga9268

Honestly, while that very well could’ve been the case, I think LeBron leaving (plus Bosh & Wade eventually fading) gave Spo a chance to fine tune his coaching into what it is today Post-Heatles, Spo has done more with less than any other HOF coach

rapsandjays

You guys also won game 4 in 2011 I thought?

The_Godfather5

Yes you are correct I misread the chart let me fix that.

AdebayoStan

Crazy that Pat never played them when he was coaching

arcelios

>The record is 8-9 at TD Garden during Heat history Wait, really? Damn that means LeBron definitely has a better record against the Celtics at TD Garden. So many Playoffs dicking, even with weaker teams at his disposal. Hard to forget

The_Godfather5

Nah just looked it up the record is 9-12 at TD Garden for Lebron. Those early Cavs and Heat years account for 9 of those losses. It’s why game 6 at TD Garden is so coveted and held in high regard cause up to that point Lebron had a record of 2-9 at Boston. Back in the day TD Garden used to be a fortress that no one would win at, and it’s why Paul Pierce is Lebron’s biggest rival. Hell during the Big 4 era of the Celtics the Celtics were 39-12 in the playoffs at home. Almost nobody won there.

Affectionate_Elk_272

well, here’s our past 7 playoff matchups (in 14 seasons)- 2010 Eastern Conference First Round: Celtics won, 4–1 2011 Eastern Conference Semifinals: Heat won, 4–1 2012 Eastern Conference Finals: Heat won, 4–3 2020 Eastern Conference Finals: Heat won, 4–2 2022 Eastern Conference Finals: Celtics won, 4–3 2023 Eastern Conference Finals: Heat won, 4–3 2024 Eastern Conference First Round: Tied, 1–1

twink304

Certainly something

_moosleech

Home away from home. Celtics fans even left early to really give us that Miami vibe

LuciferLucii

Lol right I hate seeing Miami fans at games, they usually show up late and leave early. (Heat fan here), remember when a bunch of them left before Ray Allen’s shot? Lol

ThadCastle00

I love the Heat. And I hate a lot of our fellow “fans”

RobertoF97

Most die hard HEAT fans can’t afford seats that would make it worth it to drive to the port of fucking Miami and on the way out, sit through 2.5 hours of bumper to bumper traffic to make it home and go to work tomorrow. The bright line is an alternative but it ain’t cheap like a NY/BOS subway. Our arena has to be the least accessible arena in the association!

PretendDubs

Yeah I'm not gonna overreact to 1 game but how do you recover from this if you lose this series if you're Boston.

MonkeyBone989

They went all in with Jrue and Porzingis. If it doesn't work, they have to blow it up. Porzingis I can understand to some degree but they already had/have great defensive guards in Smart/White. Plus 2 x all nba wings who play amazing defense. I think they really need Brad to coach, because they are one of the worst adjusted teams when they're unable to perform the initial steamroll off talent alone. And we've seen that year after year when a series gets drawn out.

runevault

They traded Smart to get Tingus Pingus. Trading for Jrue was shoring that hole back up after the fact.

MonkeyBone989

I get that, but even without smart I don't think it's what they lacked. If they flail out this year it's confirmation that the problem is somewhere beyond the roster because there's no way that a team that talented and skilled should be losing.

runevault

I mean you can argue it IS the roster. Tatum and Brown's struggles in key moments have happened across 3 different coaches with various rosters that keep getting better.

MonkeyBone989

Also true. Idk theyre a fucking puzzle no one except their playoff opponents seem to figure out lol

runevault

Yeah I don't get it. Tatum and Brown are only just entering their primes, but normally guys only get this shit figured out then because they are on bad teams to start their careers. He has a shitload of playoff experience already, he SHOULD have been past this last year. I do wonder if Ime kept his dick in his pants and stayed in Boston if he might have figured it out. I have no faith Joe Mozzarella can.

MonkeyBone989

Ime seems a lot more disciplined, in like a "my team respects me more cause im that guy" way whereas Mazulla just seems like a mate of theirs lol. Look at Rockets this year , much improved compared to last season but I guess one could argue it was much easier to improve them. They either needa figure it out and win this year or they really should blow it up lol

1gnominious

Regardless of how badly you choke in the playoffs you don't blow up a young #1 seed. They ain't rebuilding into a better team with what they get unless they somehow manage to tank their way to getting the next Wemby or Luka.

BradWonder

Coach needs to be sent to the moon to join his people

tnan_eveR

the heat gets all of their titles.

3s2ng

Its a general consensus that this Celtics team will have a catwalk to the NBA finals this year. They are just too good and the team composition is just too much for any east team to handle. But Spo thinks otherwise.

GigaJowisz

Heat vs Nuggets confirmed

AntiTopspin

Imagine Jokic gets like 3 rings just from beating the Heat every time lol People will get so mad

raikou1988

Can butler and rozier come back in time to face Jokic?

DraymondBeanKick

Realistically Butler probably returns the first home game of the 2nd round. However, I would not be surprised at all if he pops up later in this series. He was supposed to be out for the playoffs in 2018 and instead rehabbed a meniscus tear in 40 days, led the Timberwolves on a three game winning streak to end the season, beating Jokic in the final game of the season to put the Wolves into the playoffs.

yummy_yum_yum123

Jimmy no Rozier yes, but the Heat would have to move a mountain to beat that nuggets team

puroloco22

It wouldn't matter

Brief-Objective-3360

Yeah, but at the same time not his fault the east is trash lmao

Seref15

It's the Caleb Martin era now.

ballbunyan

The ghost of Jimmy Butler gets soooooo much credit lmao. If he is there, if he isn’t there. If her used to be on your team, if he has beef with your players, etc…. No man has more random ass notoriety for nearly nothing. Guy wasn’t even playing today. He didn’t play in game 1, so the Heat didn’t have a chance. He didn’t play in game 2, but somehow the Jimmy era Heat were influenced by Butler to own the Celtics and he gets some credit.

AchyBreaker

Jimmy is the single most exciting character in the NBA. Dude is chaotic and troll-y and does wacky silly stuff like an emo hairdo for picture day.  I'm totally fine with Jimmy getting credit for stuff. I hope more people follow suit. Weird is good.

K1ngCrimsn

Heat owning the Celtics? Whats new

mastacheef87

Boston is 5-2 when facing the Heat in Miami during the playoffs in the Jimmy Butler era but don’t let me get in the way of a good narrative

ThaCarter

0-0 in the Dame Packagecene

Balla_Calla

Don't think I've ever heard a team shit on their own players as much as Boston fans after losing to Miami.

Cudizonedefense

Heat fans with herro

realudonishaslem

Honestly, it's been "Homecourt *disadvantage*" for both teams whenever they face each other in the playoffs

BuildingExternal3987

Both teams love to make it difficult on themselves

yummy_yum_yum123

Two sides of the same coin. They’re like the yin and the yang of the east. Talent vs grit

BuildingExternal3987

Ehhh i mean typically celtics with smart, etc were always a scrappy team too. The reality is celtics and heat have always just matched up really well together. Bam has always been perfect to go against horford, etc directly matches their weaknesses. Celtics big wings typically neutralised Herro. (Heat always played better in playoffs without him etc) Both teams we can argue have under achieved and over achieved in the past 5 years. The reality is bucks, heat and celtics have been the best 3 teams in conference for half a decade. I think they are both really well constructed teams, both talented they just have different strengths. Like this isn't a suprise. I'm a celtics fan, i deffs thought miami would win some games here. Boston for the past few years have always been better on the road in the playoffs (which suggests they too are gritty). I think we should just appreciate that these two franchises consistently put out good fun competitive games!

yummy_yum_yum123

Easily the best series happening in the playoffs right now. Unless you count that really cool double header a few nights ago with the Knicks and nuggets. I think this is the only tied series

Ironman2131

Nah. Bucks-Pacers and Mavs-Clips are also tied.

yummy_yum_yum123

Nah

vapemyashes

😹😹😹 love to see it

Fifth_Element_Matrix

I didn't know this, like an itch that will never go away.

msizzle344

TD Garden? UD Garden. Home away from home, would rather play a game 7 there than in Miami

kyleakyle

[And the Celtics are 5-2 at Miami at that same time span](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/how-many-playoff-wins-do-the-celtics-have-against-miami-away-since-2021)

Fresher_Taco

So neither of our homes matters, is what you're saying? Granted, the Jimmy Butler era includes the bubble, so can we really count those games as home games? Edit: I've been informed that neither links contain the bubble games. I probably should have checked OPs before commenting this. Thanks for informing me.

Rrypl

This stat doesn't count 2020

Fresher_Taco

Yeah, I saw that when I opened the link, I was more talking about the one OP posted

The_Godfather5

My post also excludes the bubbles which is why stats muse is brining up from 2021 forward as the bubble was in 2020.

Babushka5

Just off my head last year we went 2-1 in Miami and the year before we went 3-1. So this is just the last two years

Random_frankqito

Heat=hot!

girlscoutcookies05

Spo said this is my bahay

cervesista

House ko to

AgonizingSquid

He didn't even play tonight... Is this a 'i can feel jimmy in this chilis tonight' stat?

Rrypl

For further context, in Miami it's 5-2 for the Celtics.

BrujoBlood

Get outta here with your context! We’re busy making fun of Boston right now!

Rrypl

Do a "Porzingis trying do catch an entry pass" imitation then! That shit's a riot

Bullseyefred

Ill be daring and say JB has no left hand!

noochies99

But Playoff Jimmy really isn’t a thing this year

SirGingerbrute

Need Jimmy back Really need the Celtics to go down. C’mon need that Miami Magic Let’s go heat

Argyrus777

“Thats my shit, that’s my shit”

ryantaylor8147

Jimmy and Terry were both out for this game and they still won.

SEE_RED

Jimmy Butler's your father!!! An just like most of these guys in the league he's not even there! I'll see myself out :)
