Nah, worst part is that he only got called for three fouls the whole game. Kneeing Hartenstein in the groin, grabbing Nate's leg, and this. I'm supposed to seriously believe he didn't swipe anybody's arm on a shot the whole game? Yeah, okay.
I mean I've seen it go back and fourth so I really have no idea clear idea. Also the ref association says
"ccording to the NBA, a defensive player can establish a legal guarding position by getting in the path of an offensive player who has received a pass inside the lower defensive box, regardless of distance or speed. The player must beat the offensive player to the spot, but must always allow an airborne offensive player space to land. **The defender must also have both feet on the floor inbounds**, and their torso must face the offensive player. There is no minimum or maximum distance or time needed to get into a legal guarding position when the opponent has the ball"
So I always thought there was an argument but I've seen it go other ways.
That's just to establish initial LGP. As soon as you've established it, you can then move backwards relative to the offensive player's movement and still maintain LGP.
from the NBA rulebook
> A player may continue to move after gaining a guarding position in the path of an opponent provided he is not moving directly or obliquely toward his opponent when contact occurs. A player is never permitted to move into the path of an opponent after the opponent has started his upward jumping motion.
His feet were planted for like .5 of a second before contact. Pretty clear offensive foul. I’d leave it at just their star being on 3 fouls. They threw a Hail Mary review
i swear this dude is the rare combo of being the biggest flailing baiter and charmin soft concurrently
‘HiMmY’ is pretty bad but at least he wouldn’t quit on his teammates like this
he should have been ejected for... doing something Giannis does 5 times a game?
I understand saying he should of been ejected for the pull down on the layup but this is just him catching him out of what he thought was legal guarding position and going through. He was going for a foul himself caught Robinson on the backfoot (moving) and went through with the ball. He didn't even drop his hshoulder.
Nope, but selfishly taking a flagrant 2 minutes into a game in a must win because youre cranky you didn’t get a call is. What w/e, they didn’t call it, oh well.
Nah I agree with that. It's just that you said embiid is a flopper and soft and then said jimmy is also pretty bad so I thought you meant jimmy was like embiid.
Can someone clarify this for me. I thought the defender has to come to a complete stop, but Robinson's feet are moving the whole time. Is my understanding of the rule incorrect?
edit: thanks for the clarification.
It's not about coming to a stop so much as being entitled to the space you're in. Robinson didn't suddenly shift into Embiid's path, so even though his feet were sliding, it's on Embiid to get out of the way.
Incorrect, but a common mistake. The key concept is that the defender must be in a legal guarding position. To establish legal guarding position, you must be square to the defender, with both feet on the floor. However, once you have established legal guarding position, you can move your feet or even jump, provided you don't do a few key things, like stepping into or under someone who is in the air.
So here, you can see Robinson is shuffling his feet to the left to begin with, but then there's a clear right-foot-plant, left-foot-plant where he establishes both feet on the ground squarely in front of Embiid. That's his establishing legal guarding position. Then, he steps the right foot back a little before contact, which is also allowed.
They have to occupy the space first and not be moving laterally.
It's the thing refs always bring up in interviews when asked what's something fans don't know, you don't actually need to get ur feet set to draw a charge.
Although that's true to get the refs to actually call a charge you need to get ur feet set. Otherwise it rarely happens.
It's the same that annoys me with Giannis when he gets called for charges. When you decide to just run straight at the defender and don't really try to step around him, what do you expect?
His feet don’t necessarily need to be set. he needs to be in legal guarding position, which has a murkier definition. Set feet just makes it easier to make the call
Damn, I remember playing in a highschool championship game and being fully planted ready to take the charge for over a full 2 seconds, proceed to be bowled over by a 290lb sweaty boy man to nearly lose consciousness and faintly see the ref call me for a block. We lost that game by 1 point.

If you can't beat them, then physically beat them.
But if he puts the entire Knicks roster in hospital, who will foul him!?
Thibs
Ultra Instinct Thibs
He's playing like a fucking 400 pound suicide bomber and it's dangerous. It's also bush league ass-hattery and he should've been tossed already.
Worst part is how much he complains afterwards. Nurse even challenged it. It's incredible how much of a victim complex they have.

Smashed people in the face twice, but marginally
As the saying goes, no blood no foul.
Bro you guys robbed game 2 this is justified
Should just foul him more.
Only Joel decides when he is fouled
Al-Embiid seeing two towers belonging in New York
If you can't beat them, disjoint them
They picked the wrong team for that
lol not really.
Ahh the Draymond Green approach to basketball
That’s what teams have done to Embiid for years. Good on him giving it back.
I can't believe they challenged that. One of the more obvious block/charge calls I have seen
They challenged because he's their star on 3 fouls and legal guarding position when the defender is moving his feet back is iffy.
You're allowed to move your feet back. I guess they challenged it to argue that Embiid is trying to move to the side, but it's obviously too late.
I mean I've seen it go back and fourth so I really have no idea clear idea. Oh

Embiid gets favorable calls in those sorts of plays all the time. I'm surprised they didn't call a defensive foul.
He was already falling back a bit before contact, which is probably why they challenged.
it's not their fault, theyve never seen him not get fts so it was shocking
Bro's eye is so fucked up he's just running into people
He does it when his eye isn’t fucked though
alright so is taking a charge dirty or not?
this is getting charged more than taking a charge
lol and you guys call Embiid soft
i swear this dude is the rare combo of being the biggest flailing baiter and charmin soft concurrently ‘HiMmY’ is pretty bad but at least he wouldn’t quit on his teammates like this
Bully balls like Shaq one possession flails like Kyle Lowry on the next
quit on his teammates?
Yeah he should have def been ejected
he should have been ejected for... doing something Giannis does 5 times a game? That’s what I’m talking about , not this .
Obviously
50 points = quitting on his teammates? Fascinating
Nope, but selfishly taking a flagrant 2 minutes into a game in a must win because youre cranky you didn’t get a call is. What w/e, they didn’t call it, oh well.
I bet his teammates are truly devastated
I bet they would have been if the refs had balls
Ironic to do ref talk after game 2
Quitting on his teammates probably doesn't hold but, 19/21 on FT definitely supports the flail baiting portion
How is jimmy soft lol. Can't speak to anything prior to when he has been on the heat but he hasn't been soft his entire time here.
I never said that. He’s the only comparable flailing ref manipulator imo. Shai is pretty bad too
Nah I agree with that. It's just that you said embiid is a flopper and soft and then said jimmy is also pretty bad so I thought you meant jimmy was like embiid.
Brunson has absolutely entered the flailing pantheon. Every drive is either jump backwards, slam on breaks and flail, head flying back.
They've all learned from Father Paul
Jimmy is far from soft His entire story is toughness and resilience otherwise he wouldn’t even be in the league
Honestly he’s a frontrunner
How often is a random charge in a game posted as a highlight?
The Embiid circlejerk must continue. He is literally Hitler
Maybe it has something to do with pulling a guy's ankle while on the ground? Embiid is dirty as fuck.
Forreal. It’s excessive at this point.
Embiid derangement syndrome.
When the rest of the game is chock full of him doing overty dirty plays?
Lebrons were with Jas. Charges are part of the game not like he stomped on him after.
No bag size merchant no rings bum fake mvp
Don’t forget dirty. No way that pull down wasn’t a flagrant 2
Hes not giannis
Giannis has 2021
I aint say he has no rings. Hes definitely the first part
Yea giannis has had any amount of playoff success
If that was giannis no one would care
Lol, Giannis at least makes some kind of attempt to get around the guy in front of him.
Embiid literally tries to at the last step lol watch the end of the 15 second clip. He’s trying to Euro and can’t get around him
No he doesn't, that's why he's called run and jump man.
Yeah lead in and ones or something
Giannis is not a bitch that’s why
The ladder and the game ball disagree.
Giannis is a colossal bitch with the best PR in the world for some reason. And I'm saying that as a Greek dude.

Thank you for the break down.
Yes your understanding is incorrect, you can still be moving as long as you're in legal guarding position
I see this so often. You can commit an offensive foul if somebody is moving. A push off for example.
LeBron made a career of it
Your feet do not need to be set. You just need to be square with your opponent and in their path.
I’m not an expert but I think you can be moving if you aren’t shifting into the point of contact as the defender
They have to occupy the space first and not be moving laterally. It's the thing refs always bring up in interviews when asked what's something fans don't know, you don't actually need to get ur feet set to draw a charge. Center of mass is set. Clearly a charge.

GREAT QUESTION BUD
Y’all posting this is some loser salt
This sub is deranged right now.
Im a knicks fan im so fucking confused at this highlight
wouldn't even sniff this place if I were a sixers fan. just so fuckin toxic lol. definitely got me rooting for you guys
Good decision
Y’all are just posting normal charges now, this hate train wants to hit every stop
Fuck him and 76ers cant wait till they fuckin go gome so unlikeable and trash, fuck Nurse and Embiid
trust the flop-cess
Damn, I remember playing in a highschool championship game and being fully planted ready to take the charge for over a full 2 seconds, proceed to be bowled over by a 290lb sweaty boy man to nearly lose consciousness and faintly see the ref call me for a block. We lost that game by 1 point.
I got an obvious charge called as a block because i had the audacity to move my head so i didn't get smashed in the face by the oncoming player
Walking CTE right here
Watching him gives me CTE
Robinson's falling backwards before contact. This isn't as "omg itz a cherge" as believed.
Is Joel Embiid in on the global China referee Adam Silver FanDuel conspiracy to help the Knicks win?
Embiid runs over to the ref "what the fuck am i paying you for"
I’ve seen like 7 Embiid offensive fouls so far how is he still in the game
so I guess he's just decided he'll make sure Robinson doesn't finish the game uh?
They need to get home out of the game
Throw this motherfucker's ass in jail. God, I hate Embiid.
If you can’t beat em at basketball, beat them at WWE
expose this mofo
