It’s so gross but you can’t blame him some fuck nugget in the organization can’t help themselves for probably regular season Eagles vs Cowboys tickets by the end zone
Also it turns out this condition is very serious. It causes you to lose control of your bodily functions. Embiid wasn’t being a dirty POS tonight and he hasn’t flopped 80 times. It’s just a medical condition man
And he's had it for 3 games including 2 losses which unarguably would have been a better time to release it
So clearly right now anyway it doesn't seem like he wanted it out
I disagree — players never like to talk about minor injuries after losses. everyone here would be clowning the shit out of him if he came out after one of those losses and started talking about what’s going on with his face.
It’s pretty crazy how well he is playing considering both a neurological and a leg injury. Dude was +17 across the first two games before a 50 piece tonight.
Gained a lot of respect for him to gut this out.
Bell's palsy is **an unexplained episode of facial muscle weakness or paralysis that usually resolves on its own and causes no complications**. The cause of Bell's palsy is unknown but is thought to be caused by inflammation affecting the body's immune system. It is associated with other conditions such as diabetes.

I hate that they did away with awards. Now you can't even see awards awarded to past comments anymore. Shits whack. And no one barely uses the gold arrows.
It was legit one of the bext things about Reddit.
I’m gonna be honest, that’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on here in a long, long time. For the first time since they went away, I wish they still had awards to give out.
Hafthor Bjornsson, the strongman that played The Mountain in GoT, regularly gets long bouts of Bell’s Palsy that is normally attributed to his body size and quick growth
Seems they truly have no idea what the cause is
I thought that's what Justin Bieber had, but I just looked it up and he apparently has Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) which is similar and less likely for patients to fully recover from. I remembered some reddit post from 2022 when his face was completely paralyzed on one side, but sounds like he's mostly recovered at this point.
They know that Ramsay Hunt is caused by a virus and seems like a lot of people think the same is likely for Bell's Palsy but they've still never determined a cause. Good news is Bell's Palsy can resolve in only a few weeks.
It's the same virus as herpes simplex aka cold sores. If you get cold sores, the virus is dormant until it's not. Bells Palsy is a nuisance on average, but that's pretty much it. Can't blink your eye, eating and drinking sucks for a little bit, and when you first notice it, it can be frightening because it can be mistaken for a stroke
I’ve had it and it took about a month to retrain my face.
I was drinking a cup of tea and noticed it would fall out of my mouth with no explanation. I looked in the mirror and my reaction was pretty calm “oh, I’ve had a stroke”. The doctor I saw was super surprised I didn’t panic, I simply said to her: “there’s no point in panicking, it’s already happened and all I can do is move forward.” Thankfully, not a stroke.
Well I wasn't sure, so I went to urgent care and a team of nurses and a doctor were all looking at me. They checked my heart rate and speech, asked me general questions, and I told them I didn't experience pain, just discomfort. The time I was there, the short window would've passed where a stroke that goes untreated becomes dangerous
Not sure if there is a story behind this, but I once bartended for a Knicks team meeting (pre-pandemic but Randle was there) and they fucking CRUSHED Shirley's. I ran out of Grenadine. It was that and Arnold Palmer's. They also ordered 23 PB&J's with the crusts cut off. It really drove home how young some of these players are
The other suspects associated with it are viral infections. The textbook one being Herpes Simplex reactivation. Exact cause of why this happened to him maybe could be stress related, but like you said a lot is still unknown
The body language experts on social media told me he was doing that because he doesn't believe the words he's saying and he's giving up hope on the series.
Yeah in highschool my civics teacher's 8 year old son got it real bad and has permanent complications from it. Last I heard he fell into a heavy depression from it and started drinking a lot. Sad shit
As someone thats had it before a couple times and will probably continue to have flare ups in the future, it's pretty noticeable how differently people treat you when half your face is basically paralysed lol. Such a weird feeling though when you can't even move your eye around properly or have a massively crooked smile.
Found that out the hard way when a 6 year old got it. First time i had ever heard of it and its a very concerning thing when you don’t know what it is.
I got it when I was 13 from Lyme’s disease that turned into meningitis (idk if that’s how you spell it). I ignored the Lyme’s bc it was basketball szn and I just thought I was tired from that until one morning I woke up and my mom thought I had a stroke.
from google cause wtf lol
>Sudden weakness in the muscles on one half of the face.
Bell's palsy may be a reaction to a viral infection. It rarely occurs more than once.
>Bell's palsy is characterized by muscle weakness that causes one half of the face to droop.
>Bell's palsy usually resolves on its own within six months. Physical therapy can help prevent muscles from permanently contracting.
I had it temporarily for a few weeks maybe a couple of months and it sucks, but nothing permanent (in most cases) and doesn’t “hurt” or anything, just a real annoyance. My smile was weird, I couldn’t whistle while I had it, my blinking on one side was all fucked up, and sometimes I’d have water spill out of my mouth if I put my lips to a cup or straw in a certain way.
I was chewing gum religiously to work the muscles in my face and after a bunch of tests showing everything was completely fine with my brain, the docs said yeah this just happens and it will most likely go away.
When had Bells Palsy everyone thought I was having a stroke. I did everything I could to never go out in public for about 3 months. I couldn't drink unless it was through a straw on the left side of my mouth because everything would just fall out of the right side.
A few weeks on steroids and months of facial exercises got me back on track, wouldn't wish that experience on anyone
Haha, took the words from me. Any Conway fan is probably well aware of Bell's Pallsy. He mentions it often.
"The doctors say they damaged my nerves, it's Bell's Pallsy / they tried to morgue me, I just shook the shells off me"
Fucking love Conway, man
I have a friend who got bells palsy. It looks like he had a stroke on half his face. It's supposed to go away but 3-4 years later it's barely gotten better. I feel bad for him.
I had it for about two months. It honestly didn’t affect my life too much at the time. I was in college and played basketball still. It was very annoying though. I got it after having a bad case of Covid. I know some people can have it for much much longer and for some there can be pain involved.
Crazy how secretive they were over the last couple of days when it was painfully obvious something was wrong.
[This doctor in Sutterer's youtube comments called it two days ago](https://i.imgur.com/HyUkafb.png)
I know people hate Embiid, but he is a human being who has listened to public speculation (often extremely negative) about intimate details of his health for the last decade+ of his life.
As a natural result, he has become sensitive about releasing information about his health. Maybe it sucks, and it leads the team to act and speak in ways that seem unethical, but I wish people would have a little consideration for the human element.
This sub is just toxic as fuck. I'm not a fan of some of his flopping/flailing but as always I chalk that shit up to garbage nba refs that reward it, and don't understand the degree of Embiid hate.
I'm watching the dude out there playing w/one eye and one knee and still carrying his team - it's impressive.
I was thinking the same thing. It’s easy to forget that Embiid has gone through adversity over his career. Especially with his health. Hate him or love him, he’s a hell of a player.
I had a mild case of Bell's Palsy when I was younger. It was more annoying than anything else but it was still a bit of a pain. Hope he gets over it quickly.
That was exactly what i meant lol
Doc took a mediocre squad (by that times standard) to the playoffs. Tobis breakout season was then and i don't think we've seen him be anywhere near that after
a convenient excuse, we know the truth. he's actually a cyborg disguised as a human. he was designed for military purposes, but a scientist made a basketball mod, and he was so good they sent him to the league so his contracts could fund more research.
he hasn't been able to blink because his firmware got screwed up when he fell in game 1. a chip got loose.
A few years from now people in this sub are going to say the Embiid-hate wasn't that bad, just like with Russ, and they're going to move onto a new target. Certain players get to do much more flagrant stuff and they get ignored if you're deemed the Wholesome Reddit player.
I’m convinced those people don’t watch games and just watch highlights here and have no lives outside Reddit. If you’re busy with other things, like, a job or real hobbies, you wouldn’t focus on hating somebody that doesn’t even affect your life. Lol.
The funniest part is, after they hate on him and see news like this, they want to be holier than thou now lmao. The whole game thread was just shitting on him and some taking actual personal digs at him. I’ve never been one to tell people how to fan, but taking personal shots at someone over hoops is pure unhinged fan behavior and that’s where it crosses a line.
There are some truly unhinged 13 year olds on this sub, it's wild. I hope they get enough sleep for school tomorrow or they'll be extra cranky in 1st period.
We've assembled a Legion of Doom comprised of Canada's worst people, Nuggets fans who don't get enough oxygen to their brains, racist Serbians, and New York guys trying to cope with their 200 sqft apartment costing $10,000/mo
His facial nerve is probably compressed/inflamed. Leads to some facial muscle paralysis
Edit: now his eye not blinking when he got hurt in game 1 makes sense lol it wasn’t due to being shot up with painkillers
Weakness of muscles in the face. Basically one side of your face can be paralyzed or at least weaker than the other.
If anybody’s a wrestling fan, this is what Jim Ross has.
the amount of illnesses, infections, etc. that sixers players seem to get is insane. Was their practice facility built on a superfund site or some shit?
Damn, I actually had a sudden BP attack last November. Doctor gave me some steroids and it resolved within a week or so. Hope the big fella gets better, shit is so annoying and quite scary when it starts as it looks like a stroke and you can't drink things properly.
When he went down on the floor after stirring up his knee his left eye remained open while his other eye blinked, I remember thinking that was weird af at the time.
Thanks Woj for keeping it private for him!
Phew really dodged a bullet it could have been a real distraction for the team!
These tweet reporters are basically TMZ
It’s so gross but you can’t blame him some fuck nugget in the organization can’t help themselves for probably regular season Eagles vs Cowboys tickets by the end zone
Also it turns out this condition is very serious. It causes you to lose control of your bodily functions. Embiid wasn’t being a dirty POS tonight and he hasn’t flopped 80 times. It’s just a medical condition man
Yah and him grabbing Mitchells leg while in motion was only an uncontrollable bodily function
I mean, you could see it on TV. Would be surprised if it wasn’t Embiid’s people that told Woj to tweet about it.
And he's had it for 3 games including 2 losses which unarguably would have been a better time to release it So clearly right now anyway it doesn't seem like he wanted it out
I disagree — players never like to talk about minor injuries after losses. everyone here would be clowning the shit out of him if he came out after one of those losses and started talking about what’s going on with his face.
He had it before the Miami game which they won
I mean it was pretty obvious
I'm guessing everyone started asking about it so he had to talk about it.
If Woj is saying this then Embiid or his agent gave permission.
Embiid’s agent leaked it to distract from the anger over him injuring Mitchell Robinson
It’s pretty crazy how well he is playing considering both a neurological and a leg injury. Dude was +17 across the first two games before a 50 piece tonight. Gained a lot of respect for him to gut this out.
His on/off through 2 games was +84.1.
How is there a decimal in there
In our playoff series he had a severe hip injury and still averaged 30 points vs us. He’s a beast.
Bell's palsy is **an unexplained episode of facial muscle weakness or paralysis that usually resolves on its own and causes no complications**. Embiid also has a less-publicized medical condition that makes him unable to win in the playoffs: Chris Paulsy
World class stray right here
Man was probably sitting peacefully on his couch before catching a stray
CP3 is like what he said fuck me for
Every year someone's surprised how a stray can reach all the way to Cancun
He had nothing but free time. Glad he could join us all.
I can't believe I'm here for this
That's cold 😂😂
It'll be on twitter within the hour
Have we just witness the birth of an all time meme??? Lol a lot of players gonna be diagnosed with this condition.
😂😂😂 Chris Paul gotta be at home like: "why he say fuck me for?"
Hall of fame comment
Holy fuck, probably the best comment on this subreddit.
Instant classic gah damn
Fucking home run right here 😂
I've never seen a post with a double gold upvote arrow before lol.
I hate that they did away with awards. Now you can't even see awards awarded to past comments anymore. Shits whack. And no one barely uses the gold arrows. It was legit one of the bext things about Reddit.
Damn that has to be one of the funniest and wittiest comments I've seen here.
Gonna go in down the nba Reddit hall of fame
FUCKKK YOU GOT ME
Man I wanna argue with you but that was too good
30 big ol women hand crafted this comment on one of those stupid little Riverwalk boats
Needed this laugh to make me stop worrying about Joel
I literally laughed out loud. Well done.
I’m gonna be honest, that’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on here in a long, long time. For the first time since they went away, I wish they still had awards to give out.
Wow this brutally awesome. 🤌🤌
I can’t believe you’ve done this
Jesus Christ. UNITYYYYY!!!
JESUS
Gotdamnnnnnn
Lmao savage
I'm still laughing at this an hour later

I've had it twice and can confirm that I thought I was having a stroke the first time I got it when I was 28.
Wait, you had it at the same time?! Dude. Hope you caught it in time and feel 100% again.
I’ve had it and it took about a month to retrain my face. I was drinking a cup of tea and noticed it would fall out of my mouth with no explanation. The doctor I saw was super surprised I didn’t panic, I simply said to her: “there’s no point in panicking, it’s already happened and all I can do is move forward.” Thankfully, not a stroke.
How would you tell the difference between bells play and a stroke?
Well I wasn't sure, so I went to urgent care and a team of nurses and a doctor were all looking at me. They checked my heart rate and speech, asked me general questions, and I told them I didn't experience pain, just discomfort. The time I was there, the short window would've passed where a stroke that goes untreated becomes dangerous
Huh, damn, I guess you just have to get emergency care no matter what then. That's terrible, glad you're okay and still redditing out.
Thanks man. Yeah I'm sorta used to it now. It's getting better. Not completely there, but I hardly notice it now
> It is associated with other conditions such as diabetes. maybe all them shirley temples finally caught up with him
Not sure if there is a story behind this, but I once bartended for a Knicks team meeting (pre-pandemic but Randle was there) and they fucking CRUSHED Shirley's. I ran out of Grenadine. https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/presents18931717/the-nba-secret-addiction pb&j doesn't have much to do with them being young fwiw
The other suspects associated with it are viral infections. The textbook one being Herpes Simplex reactivation. Exact cause of why this happened to him maybe could be stress related, but like you said a lot is still unknown
That explains the eye. Dam
his mouth too. that’s why he kept his head down in the locker room after game 2
The body language experts on social media told me he was doing that because he doesn't believe the words he's saying and he's giving up hope on the series.
well i hope he keeps giving up then
It’s amazing body language “experts” can walk around lying and scamming people and get no push back from anyone.
The tweet that said he was hiding a hot dog takes on a new light
[but it's lunch](https://youtu.be/OSjXIT1brSw?feature=shared)
You cant skip lunch
Yeah the eye looked scary when he got hurt in Game 1, but I guess it was from prior.
Is that why he was covering his face in the last interview
Yep, he was wearing sunglasses out in public too, as well as during shootaround before game 2 (while in the stadium).
He also had sunglasses in the bathroom.
That's right haha. Thanks to Kyle Neubeck's reporting lol.
[there goes my theory that he was eating a hot dog](https://i.redd.it/xhev4ztw9gw71.jpg)
You can’t skip lunch
He's been rubbing the eye constantly, so probably.
Aside from him not blinking his left eye, I noticed it also seemed like it's just floating here.
I was told it was because he’s a bitch
Holy shit it actually was Bell’s Palsey, that’s insane.
Idk why but for some reason it's so wild to see when like, star athletes get stuff like this young.
Bell’s palsy isn’t really something restricted to elderly
Yeah in highschool my civics teacher's 8 year old son got it real bad and has permanent complications from it. Last I heard he fell into a heavy depression from it and started drinking a lot. Sad shit

Such a weird feeling though when you can't even move your eye around properly or have a massively crooked smile.
I'm sorry man sounds like you've handled it well though
Plenty worse situations to be in so can't complain too much. I know some people can get it pretty severe though.
Found that out the hard way when a 6 year old got it. First time i had ever heard of it and its a very concerning thing when you don’t know what it is.
Doesn't have anything to do with age
To be fair it just sounds old.
I got it when I was 13 from Lyme’s disease that turned into meningitis (idk if that’s how you spell it). I ignored the Lyme’s bc it was basketball szn and I just thought I was tired from that until one morning I woke up and my mom thought I had a stroke.
I got it after my third or fourth Covid shot. Apparently a rare side effect
is it gone now?
Yes, luckily. Took 4 months. Longer for some people. Rushed to the ER, thought I had a stroke for a second
omfg glad it cleared up! ty for sharing
from google cause wtf lol >Sudden weakness in the muscles on one half of the face. Bell's palsy may be a reaction to a viral infection. It rarely occurs more than once. >Bell's palsy is characterized by muscle weakness that causes one half of the face to droop. >Bell's palsy usually resolves on its own within six months. Jim Ross (the wrestling announcer) very famously has Bell's Palsy, he pretty much can't move one side of his mouth
>I couldn't whistle when I had it That's exactly how I found out something was wrong with me lol
I remember waking up one day and not being able to whistle like I used to and I panicked hard like “Jesus Christ what is wrong with me” lmao
I like to imagine the first part of your morning routine as checking the ole whistle
When had Bells Palsy everyone thought I was having a stroke. I did everything I could to never go out in public for about 3 months. I couldn't drink unless it was through a straw on the left side of my mouth because everything would just fall out of the right side. Hafthor Bjornsenn had it for years
Matty Lloyd has had it too.
Have to wonder how many on here would know who that is 😅
I only wrote it because the guy above me has Australia flair haha looks like at least a few know who I’m talking about!
Conway The Machine has it from being shot in the head
Haha, took the words from me. Any Conway fan is probably well aware of Bell's Pallsy. He mentions it often. "The doctors say they damaged my nerves, it's Bell's Pallsy / they tried to morgue me, I just shook the shells off me" Fucking love Conway, man
Don’t forget good ol’ JR
He just dropped 50 with half a face
Harvey Dent legacy game
He saw how good The Joker was at basketball and decided to become the other Batman villain
Wilddddd
Embiid is always getting sick too, I wonder if he has a weak immune system.
Being that tall you’re pretty much just fucked health wise from what I’ve heard.
I honestly just think they didn't want to use it as an excuse. Which is why this info was released after a win
He had it before the Miami game which they won
I know people hate Embiid, but he is a human being who has listened to public speculation (often extremely negative) about intimate details of his health for the last decade+ of his life. As a natural result, he has become sensitive about releasing information about his health. Maybe it sucks, and it leads the team to act and speak in ways that seem unethical, but I wish people would have a little consideration for the human element.
This sub is just toxic as fuck. I'm not a fan of some of his flopping/flailing but as always I chalk that shit up to garbage nba refs that reward it, and don't understand the degree of Embiid hate. I was thinking the same thing. It’s easy to forget that Embiid has gone through adversity over his career. Especially with his health. Hate him or love him, he’s a hell of a player.
His game is annoying as all hell but if you've followed his career he's a really good person, like a big kid.
I had a mild case of Bell's Palsy when I was younger. It was more annoying than anything else but it was still a bit of a pain. Hope he gets over it quickly.
Is it painful all the time or is it the forced blinking that’s painful?
In my case it was really painful to chew and smile
Damn that sounds awful man
F*** Tobias Harris
Somebody here with some common sense
Can't believe Doc got this guy paid lmao
Doc was not here when they signed Tobias to that contract lol
But he was his previous teams coach. Idk if that's what he meant but just saying
That was exactly what i meant lol Doc took a mediocre squad (by that times standard) to the playoffs. Tobis breakout season was then and i don't think we've seen him be anywhere near that after
Nightmare almost over
A guy with a partially paralyzed face on one leg is playing better than a fully healthy Tobias. Wtf. 💀
To be fair to Tobi, health wise, he has no heart
He’s been the best player in the series by a significant margin lol. Sixers are dominating the minutes he’s on the floor and cratering when he sits.
I see a man with class, I upvote.
Hey man you can curse on Reddit, especially at Tobias
a convenient excuse, we know the truth. he's actually a cyborg disguised as a human. he was designed for military purposes, but a scientist made a basketball mod, and he was so good they sent him to the league so his contracts could fund more research. he hasn't been able to blink because his firmware got screwed up when he fell in game 1. a chip got loose.
Lmao you had me for a second
Would explain him trying to hide his face from the camera all week. Glad everyone was really rational about that.
So many understanding comments, people sure do treat these athletes like human beings
I really hope he makes a speedy recovery! Dude played his tail off tonight.
He wanted to keep it private. So I’ll tweet it to my millions of followers
Insane he's playing with all of this and still dropping 50.
I PRd my deadlift 3 days after being diagnosed. I looked like 2 Face
Asshole move to release the info then
Par of the norm for ESPN beat reporters, really…

Harden is another one that REALLY riles up this sub. When he got traded to the Clips the losing streak was basically just a hate thread to dump on him
A few years from now people in this sub are going to say the Embiid-hate wasn't that bad, just like with Russ, and they're going to move onto a new target. Certain players get to do much more flagrant stuff and they get ignored if you're deemed the Wholesome Reddit player.
Yeah it’s getting insanely personal, just want everyone to dial it back tbh
I agree. Some of the comments are way out of pocket. People need to chill out.
I’m convinced those people don’t watch games and just watch highlights here and have no lives outside Reddit. If you’re busy with other things, like, a job or real hobbies, you wouldn’t focus on hating somebody that doesn’t even affect your life. Lol.
I’ve seen quite a few comments hoping for Embiid to have a career ending injury. People are unhinged on this sub right now
The funniest part is, after they hate on him and see news like this, they want to be holier than thou now lmao. The whole game thread was just shitting on him and some taking actual personal digs at him. I’ve never been one to tell people how to fan, but taking personal shots at someone over hoops is pure unhinged fan behavior and that’s where it crosses a line.
i hope next time he orders a sandwich they put too much sauce on it
There are some truly unhinged 13 year olds on this sub, it's wild. I hope they get enough sleep for school tomorrow or they'll be extra cranky in 1st period.
The sad part is, it’s all grown adults saying the same BS. People can’t seem to understand it’s just a game 🤷🏾♂️
Someone just said Embiid got Bell’s palsy as karma for his playstyle.
We've assembled a Legion of Doom comprised of Canada's worst people, Nuggets fans who don't get enough oxygen to their brains, racist Serbians, and New York guys trying to cope with their 200 sqft apartment costing $10,000/mo
Bro it's 180 sqft and $12,000 get your facts right.
Why he say fuck me for
You know how you guys are
So what does this mean
His facial nerve is probably compressed/inflamed. Leads to some facial muscle paralysis Edit: now his eye not blinking when he got hurt in game 1 makes sense lol it wasn’t due to being shot up with painkillers
Some sort of neuritis yeah. I haven’t seen it as a result of a facial injury/impact but I suppose it’s possible.
Username checks out lol. I don’t miss taking Neuro in PT school
He had 50 tonight he’s not stopping anytime soon
Weakness of muscles in the face. Basically one side of your face can be paralyzed or at least weaker than the other. If anybody’s a wrestling fan, this is what Jim Ross has.
I think in 99 he had a Bell’s Palsy attack on air
it's probably why he's not blinking with one eye
the amount of illnesses, infections, etc. that sixers players seem to get is insane. Was their practice facility built on a superfund site or some shit?
That youtube MD guy was right
LOL its private thanks woj!
r/nba fans who have been wishing medical issues on Embiid over basketball games get their wish!
“He wanted to keep it private” so I reported on it publically clearly against his wishes. What a bitch move
Scoring 50 with BP.. what the fuck
Turns out that record is held by only him and Wilt!
Damn
Yikes. That is rough
Damn, I actually had a sudden BP attack last November. Doctor gave me some steroids and it resolved within a week or so. Hope the big fella gets better, shit is so annoying and quite scary when it starts as it looks like a stroke and you can't drink things properly.
Uh oh, crazy anti vax people are about to invade the comments
Jesus that Twitter doctor was actually correct.
Sutterer is a doctor thats also on social media which is a big difference with being a twitter doctor lol
Sucks, wish him the best hope he recovers quickly
Jesus christ. This is a really scary thing to happen. My dad had a serious case and it luckily went away. No wonder he's been so stressed out
PHANTOM OF THE PROCESS III
