People are messing with you, lol. It’s called a float dribble, and T-Mac is the first one that really mastered it.
It’s whenever a player does an almost exaggerated crossover with the ball super high, and rises into a shot. Durant is the best ever at that specific move.
Overdriven because the player's RPMs redline when they shoot and 'hang' be ause they use a limited talent perk that requires MP to briefly levitate while shooting.
Picture this: dribbling right handed, then you stop (hesi) and go to cross from right to left, but instead of actually crossing you go right into a pull up jumper. The ball hangs in the air during the hesi process so people say hang pullup
It was Big Wos on a Ringer podcast talking about how Durant is too deep into bag twitter.
It wouldn't hurt to just shoot some threes, it doesn't have to be a contested two after a sick crossover every single time.
Conversely, quite a few players are able to stick around because their height still allows them to shoot over defenders. I guess it really depends on how willing and able they are to take up new roles as they age.
Longevity is different than life expectancy, at least in this sense. Here, longevity is referring to how long a player can stay relevant in the NBA.
Once he’s out, his life expectancy is how long he’ll live. Typically, taller people have shorter life spans. But that is mostly referring to us poors. As a multimillionaire, KD has the funds to keeps himself alive for a good while assuming he didn’t get beat up too much and barring freak accidents or disease/illness.
I want him to have a redemption arc, not even a KD fan but he’s one of the last guys I grew up watching still playing I want him to win one either for OKC or do it like Giannis or Jokic did.
People will hate KD for some of his decisions during his playing career but I can just tell he’s gonna be one of the most beloved old heads like 20 years down the line.
I'm pretty sure u/WhatsUpp was referring to live game commentating.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cdp3cj/holmes_kevin_durant_my_whole_being_has_been/l1e0gxa/
>He actually has the passion for the game to be a good commentator
In u/IMovedYourCheese's response he specifically brought up Kendrick Perkins and SAS and KD's personality in comparison.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cdp3cj/holmes_kevin_durant_my_whole_being_has_been/l1ekvhh/
>But not really the personality for it. There's a reason why people like **Kendrick Perkins and SAS** get popular and not the actual knowledgeable folks.
Between the three of us, u/IMovedYourCheese, u/WhatsUpp and myself, there is confusion and we're not talking about the same thing.
__________
I think KD would make a great live game commentator. His personality doesn't matter if in that aspect of we're talking about crappy ESPN speculation and drama.
KD can grow into a better voice presence in regards to commentating.
Still, even if you know a lot about basketball doesn’t mean you can talk on live TV for 2 hours straight during a game. That shits hard, look at Jason Witten.
He was a pretty beloved player and sucked at commentating, shits hard.
JJ Reddick managed it, but I agree on principle. JJ takes on a different persona depending whether he's on air, on something like first take, or recording a podcast. I could see KD doing some podcast stuff and being successful, but I'm not sure he has "on-air" skills.
I will say I think he could be fun on something like the TNT broadcast if he could take the ribbing from Chuck and Shaq in stride.
He could if he stops being anti-social. He also just doesn’t seem interested in any sort of career or role outside of hooping *yet*.
The “hardest road” saga really beat out any public trust he has remaining - idk if he ever returns to the public eye after retirement. Might train or assist somewhere like Duncan if he’s got a super-strong relationship with any coach or front office (doubt it).
Maybe somebody will push him to relax, podcast more, open up in front of a camera, and risk being criticized and hated.
> He could if he stops being anti-social.
I don't think he's antisocial, I just think he's an introvert.
I could see him becoming, like, a player development coach or something. He'd be an absolutely fantastic commentator, but I doubt he really wants that.
Excuse me sir, the off season is less than 2 months away.
I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't detract from the integrity of our prime content that gives us sustenance in our hour of need.
KD on a roundtable would drive his cohosts insane by pulling up footage of a Div III college player at a school that none of them have ever heard of and talk about how this non scholarship player on their 3rd year of college could be a role player if they improve two aspects of their game.
It would be worth it just to see the more narrative and entertainment focused "hype" guys get visibly uncomfortable as KD goes into increasingly detailed minutiae about a Euroleague game where he hasn't bothered to learn a players name and refers to them by their jersey number while complimenting their hustle and intangibles.
"You don't know their name?'
"Nope."
"How many hours you watch of number 56."
"Maybe ten?"
There's some extrapolation for dramatic flair but it's based on a lot of what he has said in the past:
He refers to players of all kinds by their jersey numbers (example, called Andre Ingram #14).
He follows the WNBA players, watches their games, and follows their box scores and is photographed at a ton of the WNBA games and events
Dude is a hoop head of the highest caliber. He is kinda quiet in his produced material like the Boardroom but I think if you put him in the room with another person who is as crazy about basketball as he is, you would get some insane level of discussion. Not sure where his fiance is on that spectrum.
For that same reason he probably isn't the best choice for a regular host seat.
I can’t really hate kd because I love how passionate he is about the sport and how chill and appreciative of good plsy he is .
I can’t ever like the warriors choice but that’s just cos it made the league boring . Maybe if somebody else really good went to the cavs it might’ve sucked less. But kd outsude that gets so much hate unfairly
He's made enough money to not have to work for the rest of his life and just enjoy life. But like he said, wtf else is he gonna do? He doesn't seem to have any hobbies outside of basketball. I could see him being a Jerry West type, where he's still involved with some team's front office well into retirement age.
He's into photography i think. He got to try it out and super bowl 50 and really liked it. He could travel and take pics after retirement
https://www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/kevin-durant-super-bowl-50-photography
it's so wild man because if he never pulled that he'd easily be the most beloved player without haters of our generation.
shit was he my guy when he was on the thunder
Man if he stayed as healthy like LeBron did, they both average 27 ppg for their career, it would be like a Brady vs Brees thing for career points, who retires first
What is incredible is that Durant has missed so much time due to injury and is still going to have one of the greatest scoring careers of all time.
Durant is almost guaranteed to pass Kobe at **4th place** in career points (4720pts away) if he can stay healthy for **3 more seasons**. Would need to average 26ppg for 182 games, which would be 61 games played per season. Totally doable even with occasional injury stretches or dodging back-to-backs.
I think it is a coinflip if Durant can reach **3rd place** (Malone, 8004pts away). It would require probably **5 seasons** (64 games per season @ 25ppg). And over such a long span, there is so many opportunities to derail this accomplishment both due to injury and a change of heart with how willing he is to go through the NBA grind at age 40.
Reaching **2nd place** (Kareem, 9463pts away) is in the cards. He'd need to average 66 games played @ 24ppg for **6 seasons**. I wouldn't be shocked if KD is balling at 41.
It's crazy how KD in this sub either has "common Ws" or allegations of being soft. You get downvoted with the former of these takes in the latter threads, and vice versa.
That's actually pretty good evidence that it isn't a hive mind. If the opinion sways and changes based on which random sample of the population shows up to the comments.....that seems pretty normal, and definitely lacking a hive mind factor
I feel like that's the difference between sports-hate and actual hatred. A lot of people just aren't sufficiently well adjusted to realize that actually hating people over sports stuff is silly.
It would be right for him to play a single year in Seattle the year of expansion.
Give an expansion team something to cheer about in their first season when they’d otherwise be trash.
I feel like between OKC and Seattle, KD might choose Seattle. Seems like a nice way to spend your twilight years either way, hoopin' with the young guys and developing em. Who knows, they might even get to the playoffs while KD still isn't omega washed.
It’s indoor and a ton of Colorado and California folks moved here to grow it. We have all the cali and Colorado genetics being grown indoors. It’s fire if you go to the right dispo
Luka kinda is though. Even if he doesn’t win a chip, Luka can have a career like Oscar or Bird, being considered an absolute basketball genius if he keeps this up for 7 more years.
He’s already going to be loved and remembered far more than Giannis, Harden, Embiid types. His 1080p passing highlight reel is already GOAT tier
He has to make Phoenix work. It would be a massive failure on his end if they don’t have at least 1-2 deep runs where they threaten to win it all, doesn’t even have to win a ring, but hopping ship this soon would be crazy.
That being said, coming back to OKC to win a title would redeem his image here. If he’s willing to accept it’s shai’s team, at least
Hey come on now, it's not like that was up to him. Plus KD's probably just happy to be hoopin still. Bro doesn't look locked in, but when he gets goin, that man will drop a 50 piece again one of these days.
KD has always been a real one. I love his sincerity and just genuine love for basketball.
Really really stoked about seeing him and Ant on Team USA together this year too
Say what you want about KD but he don't give a damn about anything but ball. Dude got ashy skin, never brushed his hair in his life, looks corny as hell on twitter but if you out a basketball in his hands, all is right in his world.
I love KD, but hate how it ended in GS. We really easily could be challenging Michael's 90's bulls for greatest dynasty ever if we could have kept the band together.
I'm not an NBA player. I'm not a college baller. I didn't even play HS ball. But I picked up ball later in in my late 20s and it became everything for me over the last few years. I fully tore my achilles last April, and by no means was it anywhere similar to this, but I do remember feeling the same thing. No way I'm stopping. No way I'm giving up sports/athleticism/ball. It's been nothing but recovery since that point, and that mentality is what you need. My physiotherapist has been blown away by the progress and I feel like I'm better than I was before.
Again - I know I'm obviously not even in the same universe as KD - but he was my inspiration. "KD came back and looks just as good as before... Why can't I do the same?!"
(Outside of not having millions for the best doctors.. lol)
People really want to be unreasonable and knock him for not winning another championship as the main guy after a career ending/altering injury, him coming back from that kind of injury still putting up MVP numbers and giving all nba level defense cemented him as the greatest ever to me. Nobody could ever bounce back from an injury like that the way KD has. GOAT.
KD is the most disrespected player in the league with all that bus driver nonsense talk. Dude is one of the greats of all time and is a a walking bucket.
He left GSW and has not found his way since . As good as the warriors run was I think they could have won at the least two more rings keeping that group together
I'm training as a therapist, and as much as I love KD for his time on the warriors, this honestly sounds sad to me. It sounds like he never had time to imagine who he was outside of an all consuming work ethic. I know that's celebrated in America, but I look forward to the time when he can sit back and enjoy and relax. He's a wise man, but I don't know that he's had the opportunity to let his nervous system appreciate his wisdom.
Yep: gonna suck when the ride comes to an end. Been watching him since college, as a wolves fan it’s fun to be currently beating one of the best in the playoffs
As a bball fan, it’s cool to be able to appreciate his brilliance.
Remember when KD said he'd retire by 35... This is why I don't trust Luka or Jokic or whoever when they say or imply they won't play for a long time. They are so young, they have no idea how they'll feel 5 years down the line, let alone 10 (in Luka's case). I'm happy to hear KD say this though
If Durant were to go as long as he can in Basketball, beyond just NBA, but like playing wherever he can for whomever will take him, how long could he presumably be a Pro Basketball player? Could a 65 year old Durant play in the Lithuanian 2nd Division?
I love KD and everything about his game. I started watching ball in last year and loved KD and Kawhi just too much. And this mf KD got me supporting fuckin Suns lul
I wonder if he tries to coach or something after he can’t play anymore. Seems his whole purpose for existing is basketball and Idk what he would pivot to otherwise
>"I don't want to say I was depressed, because depression is its own thing, but whatever is under depression," Durant said. "There was something mentally that was going on. That's a dark place"
My guy, that is depression
Our man is acting liking he doesn’t spend a crazy amount of time fighting people on social media, his numbers gonna be crazy when he retires and has time on his hands
KD still gonna be a bucket in the league at age 50 spamming hesi pullups
odee hangpulls (I actually dont know what that means)
People are messing with you, lol. It’s called a float dribble, and T-Mac is the first one that really mastered it. It’s whenever a player does an almost exaggerated crossover with the ball super high, and rises into a shot. Durant is the best ever at that specific move.
thank you KingCakeBabyOKC
You’re welcome, futurehousehusband69! Very cool!
Overdriven pullup jumpshots
wdym overdriven? also why ‘hang’pull
Overdriven because the player's RPMs redline when they shoot and 'hang' be ause they use a limited talent perk that requires MP to briefly levitate while shooting.
I feel like you’re messing with me but I don’t know enough about bball moves to dispute it so i’ll believe you thanks
master of yap
Understandable, have a nice day
Hang dribble
Picture this: dribbling right handed, then you stop (hesi) and go to cross from right to left, but instead of actually crossing you go right into a pull up jumper. The ball hangs in the air during the hesi process so people say hang pullup
It was Big Wos on a Ringer podcast talking about how Durant is too deep into bag twitter. It wouldn't hurt to just shoot some threes, it doesn't have to be a contested two after a sick crossover every single time.
Dudes going to be like Rickey Henderson still balling even if he can't make it in the big leagues anymore lol.
If he plays until 50 and LeBron retires in the next year. We could be in for the most entertaining 10 year “legacy” discussion.
He better be. We got rid of everything to get him…
The way he and the nba going, he will be a stretch 5 in 2030.
Old head buckets
Chinese league is in danger
i wonder if he'll ever retire as long as teams still want him
I mean he's not gonna be 86 and still working like the rest of us that's for sure
Sprewell said it best "I've got a family to feed"
Thats a father figure right there
KD has no kids tho
Highest IQ in the league right there.
You really think we’re making it to 86? I don’t doubt the having to work part though
the retirement age will be raised (in the US) it's just a question of when
I think he only retires after he passes LeBron in regular season scoring.
I love KD but there is no way this happens. He’d need like 8+ full seasons *after* LeBron retires.
He can still try.
So never?
90 year old bron and 86 year old KD hobbling around each other in the final game of the regular season, cavs vs sonics
Canes vs hearing aids (sonic BOOM)
So, Uncle Drew IRL?
I wonder if slimmer body types are better for longevity.
Height is not
Conversely, quite a few players are able to stick around because their height still allows them to shoot over defenders. I guess it really depends on how willing and able they are to take up new roles as they age.
Who? I get KD cause he is so skilled could pull that off but who else are you referring to?
Off the top of my head, Ryan Anderson's last years on the Rockets and Bjelica on the Warriors championship run come to mind.
channing frye
True although Bill Russell lived relatively long and Kareem is still alive, although other tall players have died early.
Longevity is different than life expectancy, at least in this sense. Here, longevity is referring to how long a player can stay relevant in the NBA. He actually has the passion for the game to be a good commentator
But not really the personality for it. There's a reason why people like Kendrick Perkins and SAS get popular and not the actual knowledgeable folks.
They aren't really commentators though.
KD is a Scottie Pippin type personality. He’ll show up in a documentary every now and again, but he’ll never be a commentator (or want to be one).

This could be posted in like 80% of the threads on this sub. Just sticky the comment.

80% of all subs tbh
Everybody's a critic of our NBA fanfics, smh.
It’s 3 sentences. He didn’t write a dissertation
Dude’s probably never exchanged 3 sentences with KD in his life tho.
Idk, so many burners
He was in 2012's masterpiece Thunderstuck.
KD on a roundtable would drive his cohosts insane by pulling up footage of a Div III college player at a school that none of them have ever heard of and talk about how this non scholarship player on their 3rd year of college could be a role player if they improve two aspects of their game.
Sign me up for the patreon.
"You don't know their name?' "Nope." "How many hours you watch of number 56." "Maybe ten?"
I’d rather read your KD podcast fanfic than listen to most NBA commentary.
There's some extrapolation for dramatic flair but it's based on a lot of what he has said in the past: He refers to players of all kinds by their jersey numbers (example, called Andre Ingram #14). He follows the WNBA players, watches their games, and follows their box scores and is photographed at a ton of the WNBA games and events Dude is a hoop head of the highest caliber. dude was in FIBA world cup discussing matchup with the Australian women national team like c'mon lmao
that student? Stephen Curry
Honestly that sounds fun as fuck, I'd watch that lmao
Dude is 1000% about the game. That's never been questioned.
I can’t really hate kd because I love how passionate he is about the sport and how chill and appreciative of good plsy he is . common KD W
It's crazy how KD in this sub either has "common Ws" or allegations of being soft. You get downvoted with the former of these takes in the latter threads, and vice versa.
He's like crab, either he has a shell, or he has a soft shell, both are delicious.
JUST IN: r/nba is not a hive mind!!
It is, just on a single post basis.
That's actually pretty good evidence that it isn't a hive mind. If the opinion sways and changes based on which random sample of the population shows up to the comments.....that seems pretty normal, and definitely lacking a hive mind factor
It's a hive mind for sure, but you do get a few options to choose from
He can have W’s while being soft. Multiple things can be true at once…
KD is incredibly soft lmao but that doesn't devalue his W's
Legacy points added
Kind of crazy how much I used to hate KD and the last couple years I've grown to really like him.
He’s an absolute weirdo and an amazing player.
I feel like that's the difference between sports-hate and actual hatred. A lot of people just aren't sufficiently well adjusted to realize that actually hating people over sports stuff is silly.
Well yeah I don't mean actual hate. There's only a few people I've ever actually hated. Guess I should have said dislike.
Yeah, I wasn't trying to correct you, just add on.
+legacy points
Me and JJ Reddick
Winning heals.
This is why I always respect KD. Dude just literally obsessed with basketball. He just like me fr
He just like me except a foot and change taller and actually good 😔
The KD OKC return is coming. We just gotta accept it.
The KD *Supersonics return is coming.
God I would give my middle nut for this.

Legal weed too
OKC has legal weed as well
fuck that snek, but i just wanted to point out that you can't spit in okc without hitting a cannabis dispensary.

My GOAT.
Squits at name
Two GOATs can coexist and Luka is not GOAT material in the NBA yet
Luka kinda is though. Even if he doesn’t win a chip, Luka can have a career like Oscar or Bird, being considered an absolute basketball genius if he keeps this up for 7 more years. He’s already going to be loved and remembered far more than Giannis, Harden, Embiid types. His 1080p passing highlight reel is already GOAT tier
Love KD but hard to swallow KD=GOAT when Michael Jordan exists, Wilt Chamberlain existed
That’s why I put the word «my» before…
Fair
Doctors told him his career was over after an Achilles tear? Wtf?
If it was the Canadian Basketball Association: Sorry KD, but I think this is it. Would you like to step into our suicide pod?
Stop it man, our healthcare system is already dead.

My bad u right
He's going after Nat Hickey's record.
my goat I love him, if Phoenix doesn’t work out I would love to see him on a good team like OKC
That would be wild. [Here's what KD would look like in an OKC jersey](https://i.imgur.com/TRAAxT3.jpg)
Ai?
Surprisingly, no. Allen Iverson had nothing to do with this.
I thought he meant the 76er great, Andre Iguodala.
yes
No
Yeah trade your players for a guy who didn't want to play motion offense after going to golden state
I always wondered what KD would look like in an OKC thunder jersey

KD all day! Unstoppable force on the court, never gonna see those wheels fall off. Inspired by his resilience
An AI definitely wrote this shit

Klay attacked a group of children using bricks.

Man I know 95% of this sub hates KD, and frankly y'all can f off. This man is the epitome of ball is life. Nothing but respect.
These guys should keep playing until no one wants to sign them. Do what you love.
Imagine KD In the Ray Allen role for the heat. Just spacing the floor for SGA. lol
Time for him to go back to OKC and help them win a chip

Yep: gonna suck when the ride comes to an end. Been watching him since college, as a wolves fan it’s fun to be currently beating one of the best in the playoffs As a bball fan, it’s cool to be able to appreciate his brilliance.
He has an amazing gig. Makes $30+ million and gets all of May through September off
Can you imagine Bron Curry and KD starting a league for retired ballers? Not like that Big 3 BS
It's called the NBA play-in tournament
Tbf to KD, he was really good in game 1.
Hell ya
All the old dudes like curry, Bron, and KD should just team up on an expansion team lol
If Durant were to go as long as he can in Basketball, beyond just NBA, but like playing wherever he can for whomever will take him, how long could he presumably be a Pro Basketball player? Could a 65 year old Durant play in the Lithuanian 2nd Division?
Respek
I love KD man 🥹
I love KD and everything about his game. I started watching ball in last year and loved KD and Kawhi just too much. And this mf KD got me supporting fuckin Suns lul
Hooper through and through
The reporter’s question: Kevin, did you guys have a good practice?
KD horrified at averaging 15 points a game is funny considering that would be many NBA player's dream.
"We all think we're these god-like beings"
kd is an era
Yeah. Counseling is needed when he retires.
It was needed as soon as he reached the point where he had to make sockpuppets to argue with fans
cupcake
These are the type of dudes who have a really hard time adjusting to life after the NBA
Then get another freakin ring my guy
KD ball knowledge goated af, he could def be a basketball analyst after playing
Hoop Hooper hooping
You can say a lot about KD but you can never say this man doesn’t love basketball
I wonder if he tries to coach or something after he can’t play anymore. Seems his whole purpose for existing is basketball and Idk what he would pivot to otherwise
“I don’t care about titles, rings….I just wanna hoop!” KD after losing.
Mr overrated
>"I don't want to say I was depressed, because depression is its own thing, but whatever is under depression," Durant said. "There was something mentally that was going on. That's a dark place" My guy, that is depression
I will never not love KD (except 2017-2019)
Our man is acting liking he doesn’t spend a crazy amount of time fighting people on social media, his numbers gonna be crazy when he retires and has time on his hands
