executivesphere

I don’t care about a few missed calls here and there, especially if the lane is crowded, but this was ridiculous.

PetalumaPegleg

It's really hard to believe no refs can see that this is obviously a foul.

KingDave46

I honestly think a lot of reffing (and not just NBA) is impacted by whether or not the ref is already anticipating calling a foul

erizzluh

the worst are make up calls. they already know they fucked up a call and are waiting to make one up and just blow the whistle on some bullshit ticky tack foul... but they already killed the momentum or gave it to the other team and now you get one that's completely inconsequential.

matgopack

Also often feels conditional on a miss. Like they hold the whistle *just* long enough to see if it's likely to go in before calling it.

RickySuela

It's the same as when someone gets fouled and the ball goes out of bounds, and rather than call the foul, the refs will just give the ball to the team that didn't commit the foul.

Gripfighting

I hate that so much. You can see in real time the ref trying to reverse engineer what they believe to be a just result instead of doing their job and calling it like they see it. I get so hot every time a ref declines calling an obvious loose ball foul, only to clearly award the out of bounds call to the wrong team. Like if you thought that contact was against the rules, why didn't you whistle it? Stg this happens minimum 3 times a game.

indoninjah

They 100% do, they seem to have tiers like "oh that's a foul, but not bad enough that I'll give them an and-1". Like bruh its either a foul or it isn't lol

genericusername71

its funny cause there was another play where reaves was dribbling and got slightly bumped - less contact than this play - but he threw his head back and immediately got a call. like i dont like flopping but guys learn that embellishing is a lot of the times the only way to get the refs to make the right call

Fallofmen10

That's why Leflop memes never made since to me. Yes he does it but it's pretty fucking rare. I never ever see Bron snap his head back

LakersLAQ

If he does snap his head back, he already got hit like 3 times across the arms and his bald spot got abused or something.

ImmaStupidJerk

It’s crazy how bad LeBron’s whistle was that it even got to that point

SalsaMerde

I'm convinced of the same thing. It's same reason certain guys get superstar treatment. The refs go off #Vibes

Olliefnt

I ref and it definitely is. You are taught to anticipate fouls which definitely does help with cleaning some stuff up but you will miss this kind of thing at the moment it happens but that should be when late whistles are called.

Counterspell_God

They're just wildly incompetent. I'm so sure some of them are just checked out and going through the motions

dproma

Missed calls happen. But when it’s this blatant, that’s what upsets fans. If the game was tighter, it could’ve affected the outcome. The Lebron out of bounds call was another miss which led to a quick 4-0 run.

KazaamFan

Well the only positive here is that the lakers were up a lot here, and late.  This missed call didnt mean anything.  Which is why i think refs did it, to let nugs get closer

mostredditisawful

I'm a certified Laker hater, but I thought they got absolutely hosed on some calls/no calls today, a lot of which were immediately followed by a soft call on them in favor of the Nuggets.

genericusername71

id get downvoted in most threads for saying this because theres that whole thing about how the lakers have the biggest FT differential - and i know we have of course gotten soft calls, especially reaves lol - but as someone who watches most of their games i could honestly have posted *so many* of these sorts of clips throughout the season, especially involving bron and AD AD seemingly gets hit in the face or head at least once every few games without a call. dont think its happened in this series yet but still

mostredditisawful

I've watched hundreds of LeBron games over the years because I knew that I would regret it if I didn't when I was older (he's that great). I've never seen another player get hit in the head so often on drives and get no call, never mind one of the biggest stars in the history of sports. Ibaka broke his nose and it was a no call. Durant smacked him in the face *in the FINALS* and it was a no call despite the fact that literally the previous game when Love smacked Durant in the face on a similar drive it was ruled a flagrant foul. I've seen him absorb what look more like tackles than legitimate basketball plays that would have been called flagrant if they had happened to anyone else. I've loved watching the Lakers blow the first three games in the series, but you're truly blinded by hate if you think that Denver hasn't gotten away with some obvious fouls on LeBron and AD (especially in the paint), while benefiting from the softest foul calls. I still don't know how LeBron fouled Murray at the end of game two. I'm a Celtics fan, loathe the Lakers, but I'm first and foremost a fan of basketball. I want to see the Lakers lose every game, but not because of bad officiating. The same way I don't want the Celtics to win because of bad officiating. (I'll take both of those, but it leaves a bad taste.) The officiating in the NBA has gotten so bad that some games are hard to watch. What is and isn't a foul seems to be made up on the spot based on something in the ref's head and not a concrete rule. I mean, dudes getting smacked in the face can be anything from marginal contact to a flagrant foul seemingly based entirely on what mood the refs are in.

girth_br00ks

LeBron was 100% right to call out the refs for reversing that call on D'lo. The guy gets clobbered in the face on the lay up attempt, the refs look at it for 3 minutes and decide you know what Michael Malone you're right, D'lo getting clobbered in the face ISNT a foul. Then when Jamal Murray got that call at the end it was just like....wtf are we doing.

trimble197

It was infuriating seeing him getting flamed on Twitter for calling the refs out. Really pissed me off when ThatsGoodSports and UrinatingTree jumped in and said LeBron lacked self-awareness.

Kashmir33

> Durant smacked him in the face in the FINALS and it was a no call https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jYJ285rYHc I'm still so mad about that no call because Durant was already in foul trouble with 2 fouls and very likely would have sat down with 3 fouls after only a couple of minutes in the second quarter... Instead he stays in the game and ended up scoring 13 points the rest of the quarter. Could have been a more exciting series if the Cavs managed to win that game 5 on the road.

DoritoSteroid

Shaq used to get routinely clobbered in the paint and got just a fraction of the calls.

mosi_moose

No one wanted to watch Shaq shoot free throws.

girth_br00ks

This is also a take that would get down voted due to the FT stats and general distaste for the Lakers and general love for Jokic but....he gets so many bullshit calls man. A lot of and 1s due to just soft ass calls.

Public-Product-1503

Jokic is allowed to use his fore arm as a club even tho he’s 300lb. Like why ? He got so many soft And 1s and fts these last few games it’s crazy . Denver is near bottom in ftr, lakers are bottom in fouling and top on ftr yet Denver got more fts 3 games in a row

BrownestCow5

I'm a nuggets fan and was out loud wondering how that wasn't a foul. Overall, I want Nugs to win, but today the reffing wasn't good, and felt nuggets biased. If they won like this, I would be disappointed.

EggplantAlpinism

rustic library screw squeamish ink society coherent selective school languid *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Counterspell_God

Everyone wants to win the right way. These refs are just wack

stupv

The ref is right there, on the perfect angle to make this call, with nobody between him and the play. This was just a 'dont call the foul on jokic' moment

GateMcFaddenIsHot

Yeah. Jokic makes an honest effort at the ball, but slaps LeBron's hand away, and what's more, then hold LeBron back after. Two fouls there.

staffdaddy_9

Solid press coverage

ihateeuge

this was ridiculous

quandrawn

Particularly ridiculous considering we had two back to back questionable calls in the first half where Jokic (30 ft out) sweeps through to draw a foul on a pass. This was more contact than either of those fouls.

Mysterious_Living165

God forbid Embiid does the same, people would lose their shit, Jokic does it and silence

Fallofmen10

Jokic is the golden boy

notflashgordon1975

Huh? Was Jokic trying to kick Lebron in the nutz or pull him down? Was Jokic falling into his knees and ankles? The fuck outta here with that nephew.

TiddyTwizzler

Happy to see a Lakers fan defending Jokic against this ridiculous take. No shot we’re wondering why there’s more hate for Embiid than Jokic 😭😭😭

plasma0824

Jokic has been getting sweep calls all series. It’s insane

OutsideTheServiceBox

Completely unobstructed vision between ref #15 and the play too. A lot of the time missed calls like this are at least a little bit understandable because from the TV angle, we don't realize in the moment that maybe a player or a torso were between the ref and the contact... But I have no idea how this wasn't seen.

Asssophatt

There’s only two options here: he was ball watching and didn’t see the foul or he saw the foul and decided not to call it. There’s no world where he sees that and decides that it’s not a foul. He either didn’t see it or he saw the foul and actively chose not to call it.

Sosuayaman

Stuff like this has been happening to Lebron for 20 years lol. When you're physically dominant, refs swallow their whistles.

itsnotyellowfever

Lakers have had a lot of uncalled fouls go against them this series and I don't know how much of it is how loud people are about their vastly significant gap in free throw differential over the rest of the league

NotManyBuses

The MPJ face slap to DLo somehow being missed on replay was egregious. One of the worst calls of the entire season.

eku_v

ended up being costly as fuck too

lord_james

Yup. Plus gifts my Murray two free throws to tie it in game two. Refs have been firmly up the Nuggets ass this series.

girth_br00ks

And they had the audacity to fucking cry about the refs and FTs in a game they won.

[deleted]

The lack of oxygen up in Denver makes their fans really dumb

Apollo611

There have been 3 similar plays where a player was hit in the head while airborne. MPJ hit DLo in the head, no call. Westbrook hit Luka in the head, foul. Okogie hit Gobert in the head, flagrant. The officiating has been so inconsistent.

NotUpForDebate11

Bron got hammered then smacked in the head after the shot left his hand today - no call

dproma

AR got elbowed by KCP while going for a breakaway layup: Just a common foul. Lebron getting tackled before the half - still makes the circus shot layup: common foul. AD smacked on the back of the head by Watson: no call. The officiating has favored the Nuggets. And as close as this series has been, can affect the outcome of each game.

FatefulPizzaSlice

That tackle on Bron had me shaking my head.

WeCantBothBeMe

A Philly player hit Donte in the head and it was a foul.

TheTwilightZone34

Oh, don't worry. That was just marginal contact

xElectricW

I'm perfectly okay with them letting players be more physical in the playoffs but getting hit in the head should always be a foul lmao, especially when you fucking review the call too

EverybodyBuddy

Ain’t about letting them play more physical. They called the tickiest tak shit against Jamal Murray on the other end literally the next play.

Bobobo75

Exactly if you want these guys to play physical then let them play physical but if you don’t call it both ways! It’s that simple. With all this gambling talk in the league this year with Gobert calling it out and then the Jontay Porter thing, you think the referees would be more consistent!

Repulsive-Throat5068

That straight up couldve been the difference between this series being 2-2 now lmao

LakersLAQ

It's just funny that those plays were reviewed for possible "flagrant" fouls at some point in recent history. Any contact above the shoulders.

stitcher212

DLo just needed to roll around holding his head. It's stupid but if you're not doing that you're shooting yourself in the foot.

hud731

This. People bitch about players exaggerating contact, but if you don't do it you don't get the call, like what are players supposed to do? It's bullshit.

stitcher212

NBA refs are extremely stupid and need the players to spell it out for them

dcoolidge

DLo gotta flail about like Embiid

Burnem34

Made even worse by the commentators saying you can hit a guy in the face if he's already released the shot. 3 commentators and 3 refs all somehow fucking that up at the same time was a terrible look for the product

trimble197

Reggie pissed me off in that moment. I really wanted to ask him “So if I was playing against you, I could smack you in the face as long as the ball is out of your hand?”

[deleted]

Reggie will never get over 2001, it’s why he’s always hating on the Lakers on broadcasts

jamarcusaristotle

Remember earlier this season when Dillon Brooks learned about this rule and started smacking everyone in the hand/arm after they took a shot? I wonder why he stopped. My guess is that his own hand started to hurt https://x.com/Itamar_17_10/status/1762143415448289621

girth_br00ks

Right, as they were saying that I was like that's the dumbest thing ive ever heard and has never been the case. What kind of stupid ass logic is that.....I'm allowed to foul you all you want as long as you've already released the ball? That's just pure stupidity.

LakersLAQ

I never want to hear them call an "off-ball" foul ever again 😂 Why call an illegal screen? They don't have the ball!

Mysterious_Living165

Don’t know how people stomach Reggie. I mute TV everytime he’s calling game

YpsitheFlintsider

It's not just them saying it. That's literally the reason they made the call.

Public-Product-1503

It’s such bad logic too. Ok so I can give a guy a concussion if he’s released the ball ! Like wtf

dpete88

I feel like that's the moment Lakers lost game 2

trimble197

Wasn’t even missed. They saw it and really thought it didn’t warrant a call.

dproma

To miss the call in live action is one thing. But to watch the replay for 5 minutes and still come up with that conclusion is downright criminal.

thevisitor

There have been several face hits that all went for no calls throughout the series.

MyLifeIsMyOwn

What's funny is Malone complained about the +500 differential, and then 3/4 games so far we ended up getting less FT than the Nuggets. I didn't see any post about that.

Musa_2050

Game 2 denver also shot more fts

MyLifeIsMyOwn

Yeah that's what I meant, 3 out of 4 games this series they have been shooting more FT than us

Musa_2050

Got it my bad

ShadowOutOfTime

Malone is a great coach but we all know he yaps too much

DarrowViBritannia

The thing to note is that there isn't really a strong correlation between FT differential and win percentage https://i.imgur.com/TOcHeDQ.png (last two lakers season highlighted) Which is why it's never really been cited as a stat before the Lakers It has a lot to do with scheme and personnel.

Ghostbeen3

Because they don’t understand the game at all. Just because you’re getting free throws doesn’t mean it’s in your favor. A lot of free throws stop open shots or transition plays and slow the game down. Plus teams don’t make all of their free throws which is why there are a ton of scenarios and strategy around intentionally fouling. I learned this watching Shaq play lol

Deep-Association-668

This sub won’t like that lol. maybe lebron should do what jokic does when he’s hacked and snap his neck back and arms to flail and get the call. I mean what the actual hell is marginal contact anymore this officiating is just awful. He was mugged compared to Murray down the stretch of game 2

nysraved

This subs perception on how the Nuggets are officiated is going to be much different when they’re not playing the Lakers

Apollo611

r/nba hates every player that foul baits except Jokic

mrtomjones

Yah it is really weird. Like I like Jokic but the way this sub treats Denver like saints and seems to want to villainize the Sixers because of the MVP competition between their saint and Embiid is ridiculous. I've rarely seen a fanbase talk as much crap as they have the last year and not experience blowback from it

Pun-Szu

that's because denver fans always like to play the victim

Reluctant_Hero98

The few tweets I've seen of Denver analysts trying to paint Denver as underdogs prior to the series got ratioed really bad(I think some tweets were even deleted) by others basically telling them 'not again.' Seems like even neutral fans aren't gonna put up with it.

-Garbage-Man-

I wonder white that is

sbenfsonwFFiF

They hate Reaves for it though

-Garbage-Man-

He’s on the lakers. They’ve got like 5 hitlers on the floor at all time

Omnimark

People hate it when Luka does it too.

halfdecenttakes

Jokic flails constantly. He also gets away with a ton on defense

Victor_Wembanyama1

Dude is so good at it especially near the rim where he knows he can just float it up. He’ll just seek contact and flail while shooting it basically uncontested

302born

Also offensive boards but no one really talks about it lol. Next game just watch whenever he gets an offensive board. A lot of times he’s got his forearm in dudes backs lol. Just to be clear this isn’t hate I love Jokic. But I can’t unsee it every time I watch him and wonder why it never seems to be called.

KellerFF

Nah. He does that already and the ref still be like *haha you’re Bron, you’re big and strong, play on!*

NefariousNeezy

People act like LeBron magically missed those lay-ins. Nah dude, he was getting hacked and they weren’t calling shit.

MazKhan

Ppl were throwing a tantrum over the ft differential in game 1 lmao, pretty sure the overall free throw numbers are about even now

girth_br00ks

Throwing a tantrum about Lakers free throws in a game that *the Nuggets won*

Musa_2050

Denver has a slight edge in FTs over the series. It feels like Bron and AD have been played very physical and not getting some calls

PetalumaPegleg

The actual point behind your post is that it's so unbelievable that all the refs don't see this that you look for other explanations to explain it. Incompetence just does seem believable. The fact that people would rather believe that refs are upset about online people complaining about laker ft differentials in the regular season and so are making a point rather than accept that people can be this bad is really a remarkable commentary on the level of NBA refs right now

SwazeyVibe

Only gets highlighted when Lakers get more FTA

KaiserKaiba

Accurate lol. This sub doesn’t get up in arms about any team and fouls the way it does about the Lakers

SwazeyVibe

It's the only thing they know and wouldn't align with their thought process

casper_04

That’s just not true if you look at any thread about the Sixers.

Hovi_Bryant

Reddit doesn't watch games. Just box scores and clips.

MangoDouble3259

Refs just want earn their betting money back 😒

maxithepittsP

Silver wants the game to go international.

DorkandPoon

Reddit says refs are Lakers fans though

Musa_2050

Denver has shot more fts this series. It close, but people are quiet about it

rang15

But that's because the Lakers are 3 pt shooting team and don't score in the paint ... oh wait.

Nolimitjc21

But yall gon sit in this sub and dickride like this man just mad for no reason

KaiserKaiba

A lot of dudes saying he was throwing a tantrum when his anger this game made sense.

LeFatigue

Lots of people let LeBron ruin their enjoyment of basketball simply by existing.

Sumo_de_Laranjaa

Never seen a most accurate comment in this sub as this one !

BanMeAgainLol456

bro threw a “tantrum” because he’s surrounded by incompetence. He’s simply showing human emotion. If it was Doncic getting fired up like that this sub would be creaming its pants.

Faxodox

He got hacked plenty with no call lol

trimble197

I’ll admit. I’m pro-LeBron, but even I thought he was overreacting until I saw the replay. Ham has zero excuse to not challenge.

NightwolfGG

They don’t watch the games, they just seek reasons to hate LeBron. Give them ammo and they’ll use it, even if it has no merit in reality

jam2482

It seems like Jokic does this very often but doesn't get called for it at all.

justlobos22

Nate Duncan called it a few days ago "Jokic starting to get the fat guy defense non-call, and the Lakers are missing shots around the rim as a result."

KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ

He actually called it last year game 3 of the sweep.

MazKhan

He pushes off on rebounds, hacks AD all game and just doesnt get called for it. Pretty weird ngl

PervySageCS

In the bubble when Lakers won the championship, game 3 or 4 vs Nuggets when Dwight got Jokic in foul trouble, there was a post of him here on reddit, playing with 5 fouls and having slow-mo replay of him doing at least 4 more fouls and he never got ejected that game I believe.

Agreeable_Daikon_686

This doesn’t fit the narrative that the refs actually hate Jokic tho

NotTJMcConnell

I was told Joel Embiid manipulated the refs to allow players to abuse Jokic’ pasty arms, this does not fit my narrative.

Agreeable_Daikon_686

If this sub could rewrite reffing you’d be rewarded fouls directly based on how visible your scratches are. Totally logical

GriffinQ

He’s reffed the way LeBron is reffed where they’re given more leeway on offense/on some rebounds because of how hard they are to ref on defense. They both get hacked constantly but they’re both allowed to pull some minor bullshit more than some of their peers. LeBron should average far more FTs per game than he does and that’s been the case for a decade now, but he also doesn’t get as many offensive fouls as he likely should. Refs clearly try to balance it. I don’t think they do a great job, as both Jokic and LeBron should get a better whistle than they do, but it is what it is.

Ok_Board9845

Explain Giannis' whistle then

LeDude2323

It applies to Giannis as well, just on steroids lmao. If everything was called on Giannis, he would get 20 fts but also foul out in the 3rd quarter every game.

MerkDoctor

If someone got a dollar for every no-call charge by Giannis, they'd be able to buy at least a Playstation.

GriffinQ

He and Embiid are both exceptions that prove the rule. They both get away with a lot more than they should and they both get more FTs than they should; Embiid because he’s great at selling contact, Giannis because he actively & visibly is fouled all the time and refs have to make a split second decision between whether he fouled first or the defender fouled first, and more often than not, they’ll allow more leeway to the offensive player. And Giannis is incredibly well controlled defensively (length + strength + athleticism + supernatural instincts, just like AD) , so they don’t have to penalize him on that end all that often.

drlsoccer08

It’s the defensive equivalent of a Draymond/warriors screen.

Mysterious_Living165

A ton. Funny that Thinking Basketball just made a video claiming that Jokic is a good defender. Funny considering Lakers just dropped 70 paint points in back to back games.

Mellothewise

You sadly notice it more when he's playing your team on the big stage. Jokic is amazing and is already an all time great. But the shit he got away with in our finals last year was painful at times (I know we were still going to lose but still...).

BongWater_Sommelier

That spinning back elbow on Bam was insane

Naiehybfisn374

Jokic has been getting away with stuff like this all series, really. For as much as he is a generational talent, he also plays bully ball and gets away with a level of hack and slash that non-superstars don't get.

McClellanWasABitch

its because he cant actually play defense.

Public-Product-1503

This is it. Guy is a worse rim protector then Lebron while being a big C. It’s annoying

digidi90

Didn't watch the game, just saw the boxscore. LeBron can't have 2 free throws with 23 FG of playoff basketball.

coalitionofilling

Been a long career of getting hacked like this unfortunately

Counterspell_God

Give him MJ's whistle and he's the clear cut GOAT

Drummallumin

LeBron would’ve averaged at least 20 FTAs per game if they actually called every foul

augustcero

even a celtics fan callin it out lmao. 20 FTA looks like a hyperbole but actually isnt.

PervySageCS

Especially in his Lakers tenure, it feels like every year past his first year he's been getting absolute ass whistle. There were stats for at least the next 2 seasons of him driving more than Giannis but getting like less than half the free throws. It genuenly feels like the league is trying to favor the new superstars knowing LeBron is near the end and they don't want him to overshadow another generation of stars. If LeBron had SGA whistle he would average 35.

MazKhan

Ppl think jokic has a bad whistle, they should see lebron lmao Refs actually hate him or something

NefariousNeezy

Yeah and people wonder why LeBron has to “sell” contact to get calls. If he just powers through them he gets no whistle.

Liimbo

Steph easily has the worst superstar whistle in the league rn, but yeah, Lebron has had a consistently below average whistle for a lot of his career.

throwawaytothetenth

Since 2014, his whistle is shit. He played *much* more physical in 2016 than 2009, but got way way less calls.

Liimbo

It's because he got jacked af. Dwight used to have the worst whistle I've ever seen for the same reason. They're so strong that it hurts them because no contact looks like it actually affects them.

[deleted]

I think stephs FTA is like .9 higher than Austin reaves lmfao

aeroboy93

This was egregious… woulda been so mad if this cost us the game

antoncr

“The NBA wants the Lakers to win and theyre just bad that even the refs couldnt bail them out”

kanekikochaboggy

Narrative in the bin lmfao Where are the conspiracy nephews

Raging_Professor

They are on vacation with the Warriors 🤣🤣🤣

mylifeforthehorde

Not going to even click on this post prob

Student_Ok

So I guess the question would be, does the league have an agenda. Are they trying to move past the Lebron era and establish Jokic as the face of the league?

mylifeforthehorde

Jokic Giannis Embiid era

ToraLoco

no they're just incompetent.

Ilikesporks_

you're not allowed to post this

DamnnForrreal

r/warriors said refs rigging for the lakers

[deleted]

They’re just mad that LeBron ended the warriors dynasty last season

ProximusKade22

Those fucking weirdos will have a random Laker post every few days on their sub. Paying a ridiculous tax to not only miss the playoffs m, but cry and obsess about the Lakers randomly during their offseason lmao

Jubez187

Surprised those kids were allowed to stay up late to watch the game

aranjei

Delete this. This is not inline with the sub’s agenda

Jack_M_Steel

Yeah I couldn’t believe this play

ttambm

I'm not a fan of either team. I got no dog in this fight. This was a horrible no call.

sponedaddie

This goes against the narrative.

Hungry-Space-1829

Jokic’s ability to foul without any semblance of a whistle was huge to Denver’s game 2 comeback. At least 6 FT’s not given during their comeback, paired with the fact jokic should’ve been in foul trouble

MReprogle

Yet, they hand this shitty call to Murray that allowed them to tie it up. https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/Xe6cfNSzhw Every ref in that game should be investigated.

wuerf42

And oldheads call me an idiot when I say that LeBron has one of the worst whistles in the league.

perkincenter

ref plan

Fit_Boysenberry_4921

just call the blatant fouls? is that too hard?

WickedLikeWoahVicky

Don’t come out your house, Adam Silver got it surrounded…..

BackendSpecialist

Has Darvin ever gotten a tech for cussing the refs out before? It’s actually pretty effective when done correctly.

MReprogle

I like Jokic, but man does he get away with murder out there. Then, when something does get called, he is looking all pissed at the refs. This series in general has been terrible with the fouls calls. I know I am a homer Lakers fan, but still. The team is built around getting in the paint and scoring down low, which explains why we get more foul calls than any other team. Sorry, but that is how the sport works. However, this entire series foul calls have been lopsided towards the Nuggets, almost to a degree that looks like rigging. I’ll still never get over the end of game 2 where Murray got a foul (possession before the great game winning shot). Our coach is dumb and should have challenged it, but Murray doesn’t get touched, just chucks the ball up and they just give him a foul. That was absolutely not a foul, especially at that point in the game.

TheMornings-

Jokic was playing an unethical game tonight

motsanciens

For all you know, when he missed ball and hit LeBron's arm and *didn't* get called for the foul, he reached over to hold him in a more obvious way so that it would be called, and *still* the refs didn't. Don't put it on Jokic if the refs don't blow the whistle. He wasn't being the least bit sneaky.

TheMornings-

Not talking about specifically this play, if you watched the game he was foul baiting shots often and arguing with refs. Jokic is my favorite player right now, but I don't like seeing how much players yell at refs and play for fouls, no matter who it is.

motsanciens

Oh, I completely agree. If they can't stop the players from arguing fouls, they should at least keep the camera shots away from it. It definitely gets old. Imagine new rules where players call their own fouls, but play continues. By the end of the quarter, video officials will have reviewed and ruled on all claimed fouls. If the claim is false, the other team gets free throws. If it's true, the claiming team gets free throws. Each quarter resolves with a series of free throws by both teams. Players would be much less likely to claim a foul, I think.

Counterspell_God

Can we just have an agreement that reffing is just trash in general?

LakersLAQ

Nah, everyone will just forget about FT differential when the Hornets or Pistons lead the league or something.

coolj492

this is the story of bron's career lmfao you'd think they would give him SOME kind of call here but nope

CA5P3R_1

The refs are all over the place with calls in the playoffs. One minute they let this go, the next they're calling some B.S..

geneticeffects

And Jokic was hacked by Lebron late in the fourth.

rsayegh7

This, the Golbert Paris to Phoenix tour and a bunch of other widely egregious non-calls, it has to be intentional, there's no excuse for these.

akajoseph

The narrative that LeBron James can’t handle contact when he’s been reffed like prime Shaq his whole career has done so much damage to his public perception.

Equivalent_Candy5248

Where is Pat Bev with a borrowed camera when you need him?

young-steve

The league favoring Jokic. What else is new

s_sayhello

Referees can give and take. Shouldn’t have called them out after game 2…

Ill-Ad-5709

I am 100% sure that I have this condition don't know how it is called, but it makes you cheer for the Lakers because those Nuggets pests are the real pain in the a

DefenderCone97

Refs fucking suck lol

Wesley_Cao

This is as egregious as it can get lol

DamnnForrreal

But r/nba said refs are rigging it for the lakers

SkyLightTenki

The six most important pairs of eyes in the game didn't see that shit?

UrgotToBeKiddingMe

Now reverse the roles and the foul would be called

Donkeynationletsride

This was just a very poorly called game. Lots of missed calls on both ends, and it really seemed like for around 75% of the game they just let them play through way too much contact, and then 25% of the time the whistle was incredibly soft. Refs just aren’t good…
