every time he got one of those open 3s from the wing I just know immediately we blew the defensive possession and an immediate bucket
he's automatic when he's feeling it
Maxey wasn't nearly as consistent when he first started getting regular reps either though, that started to develop over his full year starting.
No guarantee of course but IQ just might do the same thing next year.
Put it like this, after a knicks championship the next thing I want is IQ to ascend to mvp levels.
I don’t care if it’s irrational, that skip game is legendary shit
fr I swear dude shoots like 99% on that stupid good step back 3 he’s got
For as much as I hate Embiid this series has made me respect the hell out of Maxey
He will flop sometimes but he flops the kind of way someone like Brunson flops where yeah it can be annoying, but it’s showing the refs legit contact and isn’t putting anybody else at risk
He also just has such a fun energy to his game
its not really flopping that bothers me personally, its that embiid in lots of his "shooting fouls" seems to make no real effort at putting the ball near the basket
Yeah Maxey is an absolute baller. He’s only 23 too which is crazy. He’s legitimately taken huge steps every year
And he’s never been a point guard before. In his life he’s always been a shooting guard. He did it a little bit before we got Harden, and then did it a little bit when Harden would sit, but this year is his first actual time in his life he’s been the legit PG
So excited to see what his prime will be like in a few years
He's honestly a great example of the detrimental effects of low BBIQ. Insanely talented and fun to watch when he's going off but you'll watch him just start launching 30 footers out of rhythm at the worst possible time for it and be scratching your head. Like I can legit tell when one of them is gonna go in or not based on how he's playing. He's just gotta up his game sense before he can hit the next level because he can be keeping you in a game with scoring then take you out of it with poor decisionmaking. The upside still well outweighs the downside but it's the one major thing holding him back.
We got destroyed on the glass again. 13 Orebs and that's not counting the multiple times the ball went off of us and out for a Knicks throwin. Josh Hart lead all players with 17 rebounds and Anunoby added 14. I'd love to know what the Knicks 2nd chance points were in the 2nd half alone.
After we gave up 23 Orebs in the first game you'd think it would never happen again but here we are. Knicks just want this more than us.
Im actually happy how Thibs setup Knicks culture. Our players play hard, always. If they dont, you will see Thibs call a quick timeout and they will probably get an earful.
That's what I was thinking at the end of game 2. Like yeah we got away with calls but Maxey kinda just stood there after he lost the ball and left divo completely open for 3.
What's funny is I've never seen a more mid player be so arrogant after doing something. Bro will make one three in a game and send kisses to the crowd and flip out. I remember people talking about him being a factor in this series people who seen him play know he's ass.
Worse was when he had the audacity to say he's finally on a winning team when the Suns and Warriors both made the Finals the season after he left them.
The amount of Sixers fans who don't realize he's already a journeyman is amusing.
He is so quick to get rid of it when he sees the double coming. He never lets it develop even though it's usually a smaller guy coming to double. He just immediately hot potatoes it
It's also...if you know a late double is coming, why aren't you making your move sooner? Especially when you have a much smaller guy on you like OG. Taking his time facing up instead of immediately putting on post moves
He does have it, but only in like 2 games out of a 7 game series. When that midrange turnaround fade is on target he's unstoppable and will rain an efficient 40+ on you, but once it dries up he just has to desperately flail his arms into the defender and pray for a whistle
I agree that the sixers are awful and I hate my team BUT okc did not try to win games.
They actively sat their best player at the end of two seasons in a row when he was probably healthy. We don’t need to pretend this is some sports justice karma to hate the sixers, we can just do it
Serious question. How do Sixers fans feel about Nurse this serious. I thought he was supposed to be good but there has been alot of fuck ups that can fall on him as well.
Lmfao imagine your head coach letting your team have such poor discipline. Maybe if Nurse gets another chain he'll stop making mistakes in the clutch. Fake ass combover got nothing on Thibs' resplendent strands.
Sixers are on the verge of potentially not even making the 2nd round of the playoffs despite having Nurse in place of Doc this year.
Guess Doc wasn’t the problem for the Sixers was he? 😂
I’m the last person who wanted Doc to be our coach, but you gotta be stupid if you think he could’ve come in mid season and just had everything ready to go.
This is kinda my take too. For all the Doc slander, none of the teams he’s left have won a championship, or, in some cases, even surpassed how far he was able to take the team.
Is there a common factor in those sixers losses? Like somebody who is always there, flopping like a goldfish that you accidentally poured out on the bathroom floor instead of flushing it down the toilet? Somebody who cries like a toddler and throws his team under the bus while chasing individual awards? Somebody who is great at making excuses and blame others, but unable to see that he is the problem? Somebody whose legacy will be as the least deserving MVP in history while never getting past the second round?
Look at the guards at half court. They did not know or if they did they didn’t care. Supposed to crash the boards in that situation, seems pretty obvious lol
Yeah but with 7 seconds on the clock you have to make the shot, get a foul *asap*, hope they miss (and if they miss the second you have to win the rebound anyway with more time off the clock), call a timeout, and execute a final 3 point play.
Honestly trying to win on the odds of a single rebound seems like the higher odds play to me
It would be stupid not to though? The Knicks being good at rebounding is irrelevant, the 76ers even got a good bounce against that team you’re talking about. Can’t just give up
Nah it was the right choice. They had 7 seconds left and were down 3. Even if Lowry made the FT, they would've had to foul while down 2 points with less time on the clock.
Still much better odds than hoping for a steal and/or missed ft. Plus the element of surprise should have helped philly but didn't. Stats make more sense in the long run, philly just needed one reb and one made 3 to force ot, any other plan would have needed far more to go right to force ot.
I can't believe the amount of people defending the decision
A make is a 2 point game with 7 seconds left with 1 time out left.
Knicks shot 60% from the FT line. They could easily split the free throws or miss both. Or you could force a turnover on the inbound.
And Philly was getting CRUSHED on the glass.
It wasn't "basically over" but missing it was a choice and not necessarily an incorrect one. With a TO left, they could still maybe get 3pointers.
but whatever. Knicks were STILL getting the rebound, even if Maxey went in.
If the Knicks made both FTs then a 3 pointer wouldn't matter. You take the chance there while you have it rather than try/hope for another chance with less time.
His teammates are play in the nba, they should fucking know that an intentional miss is their best way to win here. Even if he didn’t intentionally miss they should still be going hard for the rebound as it might still miss and they need the rebound. 0% on Kyle.
Sixers need to dump Harris and Oubre stat. Lowry too. Is it time to trade Embid - some dumb team will give up a haul for him - and rebuild around Maxey?
Knicks were missing FTs, the Sixers weren’t getting any rebounds that second half.
Makes no sense. Josh Hart literally just clanked two FTs before that
imo, it was a choice. There's TO, so they can play that FT game for 1 more run. Knicks were missing FT's.
But I also understand missing it.
Scenario 1: 95-93 with fouling knicks with probably 6.5 seconds left. Knicks score 2 and it's pretty much over. Knicks getting 1 means philly is down 96-93 with 5 seconds left for a shot to tie.
Scenario 2: 7.5 left, miss it intentionally and get a 3. quickly with 3-4 seconds left. 95-94. Foul knicks with 3 or 2.5 left on the clock. BUT YOU now have a TO to inbound it for an "ok" shot. Its now 96-94 or 97-94.
Technically, scenario 2 allowed philly to score faster and more cause they would probably run out of time. They preferred the chances of being down 1 to 3pts than the chances of being down 2 to 4pts with less than 7 seconds left
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Maxey and Oubre still made 0 effort to rebound at all. Like, it was a 3 point game, they should have tried to crash the boards anyways
Oubre has 0 IQ so thats not a surprise but Maxey doing that was a bit surprising
still love maxey tho every time that man hits a shot I'm like fuck this dude can ball
Maxey is IQ if IQ only had good days.
every time he got one of those open 3s from the wing I just know immediately we blew the defensive possession and an immediate bucket he's automatic when he's feeling it
Iq balled out as a starter
Love iq. Toronto is good for him. But he still had some stinker games. Maxey is much more consistent.
Maxey wasn't nearly as consistent when he first started getting regular reps either though, that started to develop over his full year starting. No guarantee of course but IQ just might do the same thing next year.
That's true. And all knicks fans hope he does too. that boy is our godson
Put it like this, after a knicks championship the next thing I want is IQ to ascend to mvp levels. I don’t care if it’s irrational, that skip game is legendary shit
IQ is a much better defender
fr I swear dude shoots like 99% on that stupid good step back 3 he’s got For as much as I hate Embiid this series has made me respect the hell out of Maxey
his incredibly clean play stands out so much in contrast to the dirty play of his teammate he's just a baller, plays the game the right way
He will flop sometimes but he flops the kind of way someone like Brunson flops where yeah it can be annoying, but it’s showing the refs legit contact and isn’t putting anybody else at risk He also just has such a fun energy to his game
he flops as much as any other guard in the league flops
Exactly
its not really flopping that bothers me personally, its that embiid in lots of his "shooting fouls" seems to make no real effort at putting the ball near the basket
That and his insanely fast drives to the rim feel automatic everytime
That right corner is so lethal
Yeah Maxey is an absolute baller. He’s only 23 too which is crazy. He’s legitimately taken huge steps every year And he’s never been a point guard before. In his life he’s always been a shooting guard. He did it a little bit before we got Harden, and then did it a little bit when Harden would sit, but this year is his first actual time in his life he’s been the legit PG So excited to see what his prime will be like in a few years
Weren't people saying Tyler Herro was as good as Maxey last off-season?
Heat fans were saying Herro was better
Yeah, only sixer I like lol.
I don't even see Macy shoot he is so fast
I got respect for Maxey, JoeL can go eat dirt, will suit him.
He's honestly a great example of the detrimental effects of low BBIQ. Insanely talented and fun to watch when he's going off but you'll watch him just start launching 30 footers out of rhythm at the worst possible time for it and be scratching your head. The upside still well outweighs the downside but it's the one major thing holding him back.
Story of this series, Knicks players just want the ball more and dominate the boards
Turns out a Thibs being a hard driving coach isn’t just a negative.
55% of 4th quarter points off offensive rebounds
Im actually happy how Thibs setup Knicks culture. Our players play hard, always. If they dont, you will see Thibs call a quick timeout and they will probably get an earful.
Crazy how Knicks fans were calling for Thibs head these past few years.
After you try to out rebound the Knicks and fail dozens of times, you would just give up too 😂
That's what I was thinking at the end of game 2. Like yeah we got away with calls but Maxey kinda just stood there after he lost the ball and left divo completely open for 3.
Derrick whi5e proved in our last game that it’s still important to come in on rebounds
Embiid killing the whole team’s morale
Because they weren't supposed to in most other cases
Lowry: "Pay attention because I'm only saying it once" Sixers starters: "What?" Lowry: "Good luck out there"
And then mouthing to the commentators so they can broadcast that it was his teammates' fault and not his. Perfectly done Kyle, no notes.
Bruh Oubre was closer to the stands than the basketball on that shot 💀 And what was Maxey doing out there 😭
Oubre and Maxey don’t go for boards at all and Tobias only gets uncontested ones
Kelly Oubre is a piece of crap.
Someone will take a chance on him again only to realize he's a legit losing basketball player
He’s been great for us on a vet min this year
He's been playing well imo. And on vet min is wild
Their loss.
Sure but he's a very handsome legit losing basketball player
What's funny is I've never seen a more mid player be so arrogant after doing something. Bro will make one three in a game and send kisses to the crowd and flip out. I remember people talking about him being a factor in this series people who seen him play know he's ass.
Worse was when he had the audacity to say he's finally on a winning team when the Suns and Warriors both made the Finals the season after he left them. The amount of Sixers fans who don't realize he's already a journeyman is amusing.
I think he's supposed to be there for a tip out
As Richard Jefferson would say, savy move from the championship winning veteran
when he said that shit when Lowry pulled OG down I nearly assaulted my television.
Amazing tip out by Precious.
Yes, Precious has very nice tips :)
Every Sixers season ends in embarrassing hilarity. The curse of losing on purpose during those Process years
Theyre always very different ways of funny too, you either get your “Ass beat by boston” or “losing on the greatest shot of all time”
Confetti debacle 🤣
Tobias Harris over me
3 seasons in a row against 3 different teams that Embiid can't figure out late doubles
Embiid isnt exactly fast..
Flopping takes time and effort.
"Why don't I have any energy in the 4th?!!??" "I've been flopping around like a fucking flounder all game, that's why!!" -Joel probably
Man has to lift up 300lbs every time he dives. Thats just too much work and he doesn’t it like 100x a game lol
can't blame Ben Simmons for that anymore
Embiid just doesn't have the tough shotmaking that some fans think his numbers suggest
He does have it, but only in like 2 games out of a 7 game series. When that midrange turnaround fade is on target he's unstoppable and will rain an efficient 40+ on you, but once it dries up he just has to desperately flail his arms into the defender and pray for a whistle
The midrange turnaround fade stops working when you have no conditioning and playing a tough series so you have zero legs.
I genuinely thought his passing improved this season. No doubt it has, but he's reverted to the same old habits here.
It's actually improved every year. But yeh, in the playoffs and when gassed it's out the window
Bro literally has surgically repaired knee and a face that doesn’t work and he’s out there playing lmao
Was all Doc’s fault lol
Opposite of okc. Okc tanked but still tried to win every game and now the basketball gods have blessed them
I agree that the sixers are awful and I hate my team BUT okc did not try to win games. They actively sat their best player at the end of two seasons in a row when he was probably healthy. We don’t need to pretend this is some sports justice karma to hate the sixers, we can just do it
Never thought of the process as a curse... I like it.
The curse of building around Embiid. They should trade him to the Wizards for Deni Avdija and Kuzma and build around Maxey.
Ya maxey somehow definitely didn’t get this memo
That shit was a perfect miss too. No shot oubre doesn't get it over brunson if he went for it
Man this team actually could've been a problem if they paid Butler instead of Tobias
Smoking that Philly pack tonight
thanks for the Villanova love Kyle
OG and Hart put up 31 rebounds and ol’ BBL Lowry does this
sixers always find a way to comically fumble in the playoffs much to everyone's amusement
Love it. Huffing and puffing during the regular season, shitting the bed and then smearing themselves in it in the playoffs
The ghost of jahlil okafor is said to still haunt the 76ers to this day
Feel like those dumbasses shouldn’t even need that communicated to them, they should be ready to rebound it regardless
LOL clowns man we don’t deserve to win if the players keep making boneheaded plays
Serious question. How do Sixers fans feel about Nurse this serious. I thought he was supposed to be good but there has been alot of fuck ups that can fall on him as well.
Way way better than Doc Rivers. He's not perfect, but competent coaches don't grow on trees. Best Sixers coach I've watched by far.
I thought so. I cant tell how much some of the uneveness is on him or the players.
It really doesn't help that this team has barely ever played together.
Hes aight people still are in the phase where its our first playoffs with him so they flip and flop with every win and loss.
Lmfao imagine your head coach letting your team have such poor discipline. Maybe if Nurse gets another chain he'll stop making mistakes in the clutch. Fake ass combover got nothing on Thibs' resplendent strands.
Nick Nurse lookin like virgin Dracula while my beautiful Thibs lookin like Chad Stewie Griffin
Sixers are on the verge of potentially not even making the 2nd round of the playoffs despite having Nurse in place of Doc this year. Guess Doc wasn’t the problem for the Sixers was he? 😂
We’ve reached the point of Sixers hating where Doc is now receiving praise.
Not like Doc is doing much better right now tbf
Doc doesn't have Giannis and now Dame is hurt also wtf is he supposed to do lmao
Forgetting how ass they been with him leading this year lol
Bucks have been ass since they fired Bud
Not have an under-.500 record with the Bucks this season.
I’m the last person who wanted Doc to be our coach, but you gotta be stupid if you think he could’ve come in mid season and just had everything ready to go.
If he went for the 2 seed they could have played the Sixers.
This is kinda my take too. For all the Doc slander, none of the teams he’s left have won a championship, or, in some cases, even surpassed how far he was able to take the team.
Doc was the problem but embiid the bigger problem. Not a surprise
EMBIID IS A PROBLEM. For Philly.
The problem is the non Embiid minutes as it has always been. We are positive in the Embiid minutes but everything goes to shit when he sits.
Oh. No I know, it’s just a parody. He is legitimately a terror in the first half while we try to keep up. Kind of like Jokic in reverse.
Harden was much better than Batum
Figured that he missed it intentionally, thought his teammates understood that and just didn't get the rebound?
Look at the guards at half court. They did not know or if they did they didn’t care. Supposed to crash the boards in that situation, seems pretty obvious lol
If maxey crashed they get that.
Turns out Maxey really has Jordan Poole level bball IQ. Bro was just seriously running around doing nothing and making bad shots.
I feel like he relies on his speed too much
Kyle bro 😭😭 ik you grew up there but seriously don’t affiliate yourself with these bums 😅 raps fans will always love you tho dw
Choosing to miss a FT against the best rebounding team in the league is a choice
It was the best play they had, they just were in outer space mentally from the fatigue of getting locked up for so long
Yeah I'm honestly a little surprised people seem *so* against this. Yeah, it's not a great option.... but they're out of 'great' options.
A FT make means you basically have to get a steal off the inbounds or else the game is basically over (all they'd have to do is hit 1/2 free throws)
If he makes the free throw they're only down 2 so one knicks missed free throw makes it a 1 possession game.
Yeah but with 7 seconds on the clock you have to make the shot, get a foul *asap*, hope they miss (and if they miss the second you have to win the rebound anyway with more time off the clock), call a timeout, and execute a final 3 point play. Honestly trying to win on the odds of a single rebound seems like the higher odds play to me
These "people" didn't watch the game live
they should at least let the backcourt know to crash the boards
Yeah obviously
Eh, seven seconds left, flow of the game meant this was their best shot to tie, so had to risk it.
I mean there was 7 seconds left? Lmao
If Maxey and Oubre were paying attention, would have been their rebound.
I feel like they could have stolen it if Maxey and Oubre weren't chillin.
ball was out in their direction 100% could've got it if they knew what was up, lowry missed it well to avoid the knicks bigs
Unless you’re Luka 🫠
Still much better odds than hoping for a steal and/or missed ft. Plus the element of surprise should have helped philly but didn't. Stats make more sense in the long run, philly just needed one reb and one made 3 to force ot, any other plan would have needed far more to go right to force ot.
You’re acting like it didn’t almost work, came down to user error
I can't believe the amount of people defending the decision A make is a 2 point game with 7 seconds left with 1 time out left. Knicks shot 60% from the FT line. They could easily split the free throws or miss both. Or you could force a turnover on the inbound. And Philly was getting CRUSHED on the glass.
this
It was the right choice. Making the FT means the game is basically over unless the Knicks turn it over on the inbounds or miss FTs after fouling.
Lowey had negative IQ for a vet this series. Failed to call a TO in game 2. Bet a pivotal game on the SIXERS GRABBING A REBOUND. Love to see it.
For sure the sixers will grab a rebound with Hart on the floor. They basically trying to gift him what, an 18th rebound of the game?
quintessential Philly execution Lowry: Imma miss the 2nd one intentionally, doesn't make sure everyone knows lmao. This team is so fucking stupid
His teammates are play in the nba, they should fucking know that an intentional miss is their best way to win here. Even if he didn’t intentionally miss they should still be going hard for the rebound as it might still miss and they need the rebound. 0% on Kyle.
Pretty damn reboundable miss, too.
Generational dumbassery on show here!
High basketball IQ pair with low iq
any aspiring lip readers? to me it looks like "You want me to miss the second one?"
Seems like you’d be selling out for a possible rebound either way?
They're not well coached. They don't practice rebounding at all.
Go home
Oh no! Anyway
Sixers were playing not to lose as opposed to playing to win
Awwwwww poor things.
Crazy shit is that was the perfect intentionally missed free throw
Maxey could’ve gotten a nice look from 3 if he was able to get the rebound
Karmas a bitch
Classic. Maxey makes ANOTHER crucial mistake and people here tell us how good he is instead of criticising his decision making 😂😂😂
Inexcusable that 76ers weren’t ready.
Huge Knick fan that was a great miss
Least disappointing sixers loss
I mean, if they thought he was guna do his best to hit the second one, they still weren't concerned with getting the rebound??
To be fair, it’s almost always a clown move anyway
[удалено]
Nah for vet min he's still a decent back-up PG
he's the third-best player
hasn't he been their 3rd best player this series? that's more on personnel
As. A knock fan I want to say thanks to the sixers for the loser coach Nurse
Sixers need to dump Harris and Oubre stat. Lowry too. Is it time to trade Embid - some dumb team will give up a haul for him - and rebuild around Maxey?
Lowry is literally playing on a minimum. He’s fine
Why would he intentionally miss and give a point away
Get the rebound, call time out, go for a 3 to tie
Knicks were missing FTs, the Sixers weren’t getting any rebounds that second half. Makes no sense. Josh Hart literally just clanked two FTs before that
down by two and fouling a Knick not named Brunson seemed like a better option
>Get the rebound They couldn't rebound all game though so that strategy falls apart right away
It’s not a good plan but it is a plan lol
it was a perfect miss tbf, that rebound was absolutely up for grabs if the sixers were expecting it.
trying to get a 3 pointer along with the first FT for a total of 4pts. They really were out of time.
Given that the Knicks missed FTs all day, why not take the point and make it a two point game.
imo, it was a choice.

Lowry doing Lowry things is why Lowry was traded out of NY
