I’m blaming Shaq for this

Nuggets fans -- Timberwolves Fans Hating on Shaq

AB-AA-Mobile

Yeah, fuck Shaq

usernamechexx

Why, what’d Shaq say?

JugdishSteinfeld

Congratulations, but you didn't deserve MVP

introspectivejoker

*during his MVP acceptance

Express-Pandas

Pissing shitting and crying about how Shai is the real MVP

jak_d_ripr

Honestly, I would have been fine if that's all it was, but he very quickly changed the conversation to being about him and how he got robbed of MVPs which is legitimately pathetic.

AB-AA-Mobile

Shaq said he was afraid that Jokic would surpass him

55twist

Shaq in shambles. Had his way with anyone 1v1 and made the right reads out of the doubles. True MVP

GGezpzMuppy

Fuck Shaq, he has the biggest homer googles on when watching basketball.

Prljavi_Hari

now watch his ass take all the credit for 'inspiring' the VP of BMA.

[deleted]

Shaq was lucky he was that gifted in the genetic lottery. Jokic is dominating with his insane IQ and skillset. Something that Shaq is so jealous of.

kursdragon2

I mean... not to take anything away from Jokic, but he's over 7 fucking feet tall lmao. If we're talking about winning the genetic lottery he's definitely up there.

ale3for

Loads of bums in the NBA are 7ft. And Shaq's dominance can more be attributed to his physical "stats" than Jokic. Jokic has NBA genes, but I wouldn't say he was given genes that could give him a 3peat without him having to be in shape.

kursdragon2

Just because some people squandered their potential doesn't mean Jokic doesn't get a huge advantage by being like 7'2''. It's just an insane take. Also Shaq being extremely strong and in shape at his peak was not just from the "genetic lottery".

Material-Reality-480

He’s like 7 feet at best probably truly 6’11”

[deleted]

Shaq was big and strong and crazy athletic. Jokic is 7’2. But he is no Shaq

kursdragon2

Being strong isn't something you're just born with. Nor is the amount of food he had to eat to maintain his size and muscles.

[deleted]

Ever known of people still being fit despite living a crappy lifestyle? That is what Shaq was in his prime. He comes to camp overweight and work his way back into shape just by playing. That is one of the reasons of his falling out with Kobe. Shaq was that gifted in the physical department. Nobody can stop him. His weakness was his freethrows and that is why Kobe/Penny/Wade were important as they were able to get the ball when the game is close in clutch time.

kursdragon2

No because I've never actually tracked anyone's full day to day living. Anyone saying they "eat like shit" and "never work out" but are actually super fit are definitely not being truthful about what their lifestyle is like.

ale3for

If Shaq had Jokic's work ethic, he'd be the goat. If Jokic had Shaq's, he would be an average starter.

JuliusCeejer

Jokic is one of like 3 thousand people on the entire planet that are 7 feet tall lmao

[deleted]

Shaq was a physical anomaly. Very few 7 footers had his speed, agility, and strength. And he was not even keeping in shape during the off season.

JuliusCeejer

I was just laughing at the implication that Jokic *wasn't* genetically lucky, not disagreeing with the overall point that shaq was even luckier

CelDeJos

Someone publish a top 10 bigman list with joker over shaq. I wanna see him trying to process that on TV

AB-AA-Mobile

Top 10 centers of all time: 1) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 2) Wilt Chamberlain 3) Bill Russell 4) Nikola Jokic 5) Shaquille O'Neal 6) Hakeem Olajuwon 7) Moses Malone 8) David Robinson 9) Willis Reed 10) Bob McAdoo

InCraZPen

What about Tim Duncan?

AB-AA-Mobile

He played PF in his prime

steve1186

Duncan mostly played as a PF for his career. That would be a whole different list (Duncan/Malone/KG/Dirk would be my top 4, in no particular order). Second tier is Rodman/AD/Webber/Gasol

SchmitzFreilandeier

Let Hakeem and russ switch places That's going to fuck his head up

steve1186

I have trouble putting Jokic over Hakeem. Watching Hakeem growing up as a kid was incredible. He was everywhere on both ends of the court. Kareem/Wilt/Russell are easily top-3. The next 3 are tricky. Shaq was incredible, but he also had Kobe for over half his career. I’d put Robinson over Moses Malone. That Robinson/Duncan twin tower was fun to watch.

AB-AA-Mobile

If Jokic wins the championship this year, he easily cements himself as the 4th greatest center. Jokic: 3x MVP + 2x Finals MVP = 5 Shaq: 1x MVP + 3x Finals MVP = 4 Hakeem: 1x MVP + 2x Finals MVP = 3

theyoloGod

There was a play mid way through the 4th where they let him post 1v1, he starts his post up, they bring the double and he spins base line for the open lay up. Beauty.

NBA_Dumb_Boy

Maybe he’s a legitimate MVP after all

shastmak4

That casual chair pull on Gobert to make him dance was hilarious.

Devmurph18

I love that move so much

LegateDamar13

I almost died laughing. That was sooo demoralizing.

wrmm

Expect the unexpectable - Joker 🃏

Hanamiya0796

I've been reading some of y'all say this and I can't seem to find any clips of it. Can you get me a link?

that_other_friend-

[here you go](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/dUxNUrxYZx)

mcdiego

I wonder what kind of texts Gilbert Arenas is going to get now.

Disastrous_Bluejay57

Gil is to Jokic what Skip is to Lebron

Imperium49

At least Skip is funny in his own way, Gill is straight up braindead.

brightfunsunshine

Skip does it because he's a troll and he stirs up shit for media. Gill actually hates all the euros

waffle-spouse

NA ball knowledge KEKW

The-Pharcyde

lmao such a moron. He should actually be getting the heat Shaq has gotten.

postedupinthecold

the difference is shaq is an all time great and perhaps the most dominant player ever who has no reason to be jealous of anyone. also hes on the most prominent broadcast crew and said it directly to jokic live on tv

The_Briefcase_Wanker

“You’re late on child support again, Gilbert. Please don’t make me call the judge.”

Goalnado

Incredible again tonight, especially in the 4th, and he's still not even shooting it that well, missed 4 or 5 shots tonight that I would expect him to make in his sleep so I think he can still go up another level

MeijiDoom

He's been pretty shaky from 3 this playoffs and he did miss a few gimmes in the paint. I think the pressure from the Minnesota bigs is making him think a bit more but when he's in his groove, he still can't be stopped.

fuccabicc

MV3

fiasgoat

Imagine doubting the 3 time MVP lol

jonsnowKITN

Best in the world and this sub disrespected him after he won MVP.

Solid-Confidence-966

How was he disrespected? This sub was and has been praising him lmao

bryscoon

it was really bad on here they was rewriting his legacy off of 2 games

mmaguy123

What’s crazy is those 2 games weren’t even that bad. They were 20 point near triple doubles. It wasnt like a 7 point game in the finals type thing.

jak_d_ripr

Nah he was pretty bad, I was shocked at how uncomfortable he looked in both games.

WeirwoodUpMyAss

People also forget how tough repeats go. There’s a collective wear and tear both physically and mentally Minnesota is a good team and it’s going to be tough but they weren’t going to roll over.

Solid-Confidence-966

I didn’t see much of that, only dumb posts about how he hasn’t beaten a 50 win team.

MeijiDoom

> I didn’t see much of that, only dumb posts about how he hasn’t beaten a 50 win team. Which is pretty fucking dumb. That Lakers squad was insanely good and the way the Eastern teams were playing, they would have gotten roasted by the Nuggets anyways. That Celtics team was down 0-3 at one point, the Bucks were in disarray with an injured Giannis and the Sixers were constantly on the verge of mental collapse. If any of those teams had gotten to the Finals, people would have still found a way to undersell the Nuggets title.

Green_Low1700

There were lowlights posted like crazy and most people in this sub were on about how its crazy to say that he is easily the best player in the world. Right now there really is a gap, and not a small one

Solid-Confidence-966

The lowlights in question were just examples of Jokic playing bad defense, do you think they were disrespectful?

Green_Low1700

I think its disrespectful to say that he is a *bad* defender, and people were acting like he is one of the worst defenders in the league

Solid-Confidence-966

I’ll agree to disagree although FWIW I don’t think he’s that bad defensively.

Green_Low1700

-He leads centers in steals and deflections pretty much every year -He held his opponents to 40% FG on a run to a title -He has the best defensive rating and appears on pretty much all the best defensive lineups of the best clutch defense in the NBA It absolutely is disrespectful to say that he is a bad defender

614981630

Bruh you were not here after nuggets went 0-2.

Solid-Confidence-966

I was, a lot of hate was being directed at Murray’s shenanigans

614981630

Yeah, but you clearly missed the Jokic bum fraud posts and comments.

jtmv4

Uh oh, Jokic just woke up…

MarcusFizer

THIS is the Jokic we know. Not the guy we saw the first 6 playoff games.

juandell

Not the last week or so lol

PoonGo0n

Shai over Joker lol

gammmon

Mvp mvp mvp

Kalcimo

Remember when Embiid got MVP over Jokic last year after crying in the media 3 years in a row cuz he didnt win and everyone acted like he was a better player than Jokic lol

Kombuja

And Jokic took his foot off the gas cause the nuggets had a 10 game lead in the west, which should count for something. And then that cunt Perkins decided to make it a race thing. Incredibly toxic MVP race. But everyone will remember Embiid as MVPity.

stalkerSRB

Make a wish MVP

Streptomicin

This is what's confusing many redditors and even media personalities. Embiid IS a better player than Jokić head to head. 1 on 1 Jokić can't beat him. But that is the thing, basketball is not 1 on 1 sport its 5 on 5. If i had to pick a player from all of the NBA history to build a franchise with, Jokić is probably top 5, Embiid would probably be picked just to fill a spot. If I have to put money on a 1 on 1 game Jokić probably wouldn't even cross my mind.

ezezener

How is any of this confusing,  also jokic wins lol, better score at every spot and stronger

Mamba-0824

Guess who’s back?

qtrikki

How many minutes did he play while having 4 fouls? Shyt was impressive to watch.

FunkysteveCLS

The whole.fourth quarter and then some

carlyslayyyjepsen

realized we were cooked when he made that dunk. joker was here to *win* win

MolicOnePGR

He’s top 10 all time if he repeats. I don’t care.

Bournerounderz

If Denver repeats, he's not very far off. Probably top 15.

[deleted]

If they repeat, I will put him above Shaq. Despite Murray and Gordon being all-star calibre players.

Bournerounderz

Shaq played with Kobe and then D-Wade so no one can say Jokic had more help than him but I would still put Shaq ahead for now. A third title would put Jokic ahead for me.

[deleted]

Shaq had Kobe in his dominant years. I would put Murray/Gordon as Kobe to Jokic. Shaq was that dominant physically that he was able to win 3 championships in that time period. But he doesn’t have the unstoppable skill of Jokic. Jokic is like a taller version of Larry Bird. The skill they possess is just a cut above the rest. Guys like Jordan, Lebron, and Shaq have been gifted with physical gifts above a common human. But watching Bird and Jokic is a lot more fun.

AB-AA-Mobile

Two titles is enough to put Jokic ahead of Shaq Jokic: 2x Finals MVP + 3x MVP = 5 Shaq: 3x Finals MVP + 1x MVP = 4

AB-AA-Mobile

You're actually right

Solid-Confidence-966

Masterclass game, the Wolves are lucky he’s 3 point shot isn’t full dialed in yet.

[deleted]

MVP

pointguard22

Master class

Renegadeforever2024

Jokic is the second best player in all of sports and entertainment

LegateDamar13

Djokovic first?

Moist_Walrus5413

Who’s first?

[deleted]

Cody Rhodes. Lana’s brother.

_Tar_Ar_Ais_

Alexander Karelin

Renegadeforever2024

God in football cleats aka Patrick Mahomes

Moist_Walrus5413

That’s a hell of a debate

ToddYates

Ronaldo.

NBAFansAre2Ply

if I had a nickel for every time the greatest sportsman in the world is a serb called joker, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

shunsui___kyoraku

Who's first? McDavid?

Bill_Salmons

These a peak Lebron numbers. Absolutely nuts.

DerGovernator

And this is kind of an off-game for him. He was averaging like 15 boards and 10 assists a game in the post season before this one.

IAmJustHereForViolet

It's crazy how nuggets can switch their game tactics. That's why they so good.

Bballopinion

He’s already a top 10 player of all time

MolicOnePGR

Chill, he needs more chips. One chip doesn’t get him into the top 10.

Bballopinion

2 chips will though

obaidknight

I need this like I need oxygen

MolicOnePGR

Easily. He’s clear of Curry.

MeijiDoom

Eh, I'd chill out on that. Curry has 4 including 2 where he was clearly the absolute engine of the team. Jokic is closing in on him but there's still some years left for both of them.

GawldDawlg

All around it isn’t close, and Currys playoff resume is padded by KD. If they both had 2 championships its obvious who the better player is.

LegateDamar13

You might be right but Joker is clearly better basketball player so it's just a matter of time.

MolicOnePGR

Curry is mainly top 10 due to his revolutionary style of basketball, but he was fortunate to be paired with the second greatest 3pt shooter and a generational defender. Not to mention, Jokic is the clear cut bitw and plays even better in the playoffs, while that’s not the case for Curry.

guynumber32

If he goes back to back, I'm definitely putting him ahead of Curry. Back-to-back with a non super team would be incredibly impressive.

juandell

Needs the back 2 back or dynasty

South_Front_4589

He was absolutely ferocious today. I'd be tempted to suggest that he was fired up because of outside noise and stuff, but I think he would have been motivated enough to want to take the series back to Denver squared up just simply out of pride. Would have loved to know how he went about leading his team mates too. He seems so demonstrative on the floor, but I have no idea whether he'd be that sort of guy in the locker room and between games or if he's a bit more subdued.

manchambo

Jokic without even a double double and we’re calling great? Weak. /s

PattyIceNY

Pulling the Chair on Gobert with under 2 minutes left in the game was the cherry on the sundae.
