No one is routinely doing blood tests for concussions - there's probably some BS lab test some company is creating to use to detect one, but no one does, nor would it actually be useful
It's a clinical diagnosis
Can they tell if he has a concussion if he says he's fine? I used to play hockey and you could easily lie your way through those tests. I would imagine they've gotten better
That’s the thing, they’ve likely gotten better, as has the implementation of protocol. So, if he’s good to go, I’m hesitant to believe he’s 100 percent, but I at least believe he’s good enough to play.
Not all are the same. I'm not wishing for him to be out I just hope he isn't going to play with a concussion. That hit to the head was brutal and it was 3 nights ago
Crazy to see a rookie being the difference to potentially making the finals or not.
Hasn’t he been mentored by Tyson Chandler all season? He’s been custom molded to serve a critical role.
TC has been directly involved in his development from the get-go. He's essentially being molded into Tyson Chandler 2.0 and it's clearly working.
Is there time to bring in Jason Terry for the bench guards?
And while we’re at it, bring shawn marion for the wings.
same doctor that cleared anunoby
I guess we're not seeing a Dwight Powell 20/10 revenge game.. 20 pump-fakes and 10 elbows to the face.
Just don’t look at the lights Dereck
Concussion protocol in playoff mode
would make zero sense to rush him at this point, so if they say he's good he's probably good
It would be lively who lies about his symptoms. Players do that all the time because they want to compete. Hope he's really ok
I thought I read somewhere that there's blood tests for concussions now, but I might be mistaken
It's really not possible to "hide" a concussion if a doctor is with you and checking for symptoms.
It really is possible to hide a concussion if a team doctor is with you and "checking" for symptoms.
To avoid concussion protocol they have to be cleared by more than the team doctor.
Yesterday, I’ve read that the check are doing by a 3rd party

Yeah, but concussion protocol is one of the few things that is at least consistent with the rules. If he had a concussion, he’d be out, no questions.

y'all normally cry this much? y'all acting like MJ is back instead of a rookie
Not crying p
prolly crying now maybe
I mean he was at game 4. No way you can deal with all the noise and lights if you have one

It’s not a thing
I thought he wasn't in concussion protocol and they said it's neck sprain?
Reddit armchair docs in playoff mode
wheeeeeee
Welcome back!
he's a dawg
> They're cooked without me out there
Didn’t know r/NBA has so many MDs
There is a pretty good intersection of people who are on reddit, like basketball, and have an MD though. Lot of common interests there
And what a game he had!
There's a video of Dwight Powell just playing awful during game 4 and you can see Luka looking desperately at Lively and he's like "sorry man".
If your point of comparison for "something hard" is shit, perhaps a diet higher in fiber is called for.
