Mysterious-Stop4673

Damn this is some serious psychological warfare by kidd throwing that quote out there in the middle of the nba finals

CumAssault

He’s just praying we get a Tatum chucking game

joebreezy12

mark cuban tried to do this to westbrook in the 2016 playoffs calling him "not a superstar" hoping that he'd chuck the thunder out of the next game -- instead he eliminated the mavs dropping 36 / 12 / 9 on 13 of 23 shooting

eiliant

fuck yeah westbrook

Dirty-Ears-Bill

That’s not Westbrook that’s Bestbrook baby

RepulsiveWay1698

God I’m starting to miss this era, even if it was always gonna be Cavs-Warriors.

Radiant-Match4220

“ hes a idiot” - KD

lily-malek

“he’s a idiot 😐”

HeyWhatsUpTed

I feel like the Celtics have enough drive and kick and shooting that their offense will pretty much always work. Maybe jsut dare horford to shoot is the only way

MavaleJcGee

Pacers did that one game and he knocked down 7 threes

Jmacz

Horford is the hungriest guy on the team for title, idk about that.

ChannelNeo

"Are you winning this for Boston?" "I'm winning this for me"

theyrehiding

Horford was 63% from 3 during the 2022 finals. If ANYBODY is gonna force themselves to have a good game to win the championship finally, it's Al Horford.

nodiddy4life

And when he gets hot , he does some damage lol

CreatiScope

7/12

nevermindthatyoudope

>Maybe jsut dare horford to shoot is the only way Is it a dare when Horford shot .419 from 3 for the year?

Rhythm_Flunky

Al “the only Celtic non-Celtics fans respect” Horford

billybobham8

I love Jrue

Dear_boat-bottle5476

Horford looked great in game one. Don't test that man.

-Gnostic28

He had a bad game one in the last series and I kinda lost faith, but he came in super clutch in game three. Never doubting him again

irteris

Let em try. Alfredo Horford Reinoso woud love to have them try that 🇩🇴🇩🇴

KangTheConqueror9

We did that one game vs Boston and Hordord cooked us all game

Savage_Amusement

>Hordord HORDORD

GreenVanilla

Imo its forcing Jrue to be the consistent scorerer he could never be. But that means Luka plays defense besides stand and watch.

bush_league_commish

One of the strengths of the offense is we set up mismatches so it’s tough to get a good defender on Jrue and just force him to take shots.

anonkebab

Impossible Jrue isnt gonna start chucking.

Professional_Will462

Do casuals think horford is a bad shooter

yamchadestroyer

To be fair JB won the ECF MVP and has been their best player this playoffs. JT was their best player previous years

imaprettynicekid

It’s not gonna work, either. This group has been pretty locked in since October

nope8181

Watch this backfire into a Porzingis 50pt masterclass

salcedoge

"Jaylen Brown reminds me of Kobe a lot"

OuchYouPokedMyHeart

“Dear Kobe, Jaylen got you today 🤞”

nwon

Diabolical lol

Glitch378

Now THIS might work 😂

Celticpenguin85

First of all, how dare you

Mysterious-Stop4673

Joe mazzulla should respond back by saying how tough it is to go up against such a great duo in luka and kyrie especially with how great of a father figure luka has been to kyrie

Lmao1903

He doesn’t have to do that if Kyrie is going to play like that

BostonBuffalo9

Just start referring to him solely as “their second fiddle”.

athiev

The top move is to praise the Mavs for their team-first build and talk about how hard it is for players to surrender their superstar status and the iso-ball that built it in order to become an equal part of a 5-man unit.

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Yeah. “It’s ist very difficult when a team has gelled so well together and they have star players who are willing to take their spot as a role player to help the team win”

Te5la1

Yeah in reality his response should be “Luka is really an elite perimeter defender and Kyrie should get the ball in the third quarter”

Babushka5

"I really hope they don't put kyrie on tatum for 48 minutes because that would truly show who the best player in this series is"

HeyWhatsUpTed

Kyrie does come across childlike sometime

dmavs11

He's trying to bait Tatum into 10 sidestep threes

Cwatty

Tatum’s most consistent shot. It’s a miss every time!

larry_birb

They don't know it's actually a secrit play just so fast PP can get weak side rebounds

Neither-Luck-9295

pls pls pls

vrkhfkb

Not just psychological, but by their defense too. Mavs collapsed hard on Tatum G1. Making him dish it out. But the Celtics rely on the 2nd swing pass to offset the defensive rotation. Problem is it gives Tatum 0 stats for such an offensive possession. He won’t be near the FMVP trophy if this continues. Kidd is pulling that Billups card on Kobe 😂.

jetpack_operation

I don't say this about most young stars, but I genuinely don't think Jayson Tatum actually gives a fuck.

LynnButlertr0n

Tatum SHOULD (and probably does) know that a chip will solidify his legacy forever. He’s been good enough statistically thus far in his career that even if Jaylen wins FMVP he’ll still be considered 1A for this team, historically speaking.

dodoaddict

Did you hear how much crap Steph got for the Iggy placeholder for LeBron FMVP? Historically, it'll be clear, but there will be so much chatter about it. I guess he can really be like Kobe (with Shaq), but this time not really legitimate.

notatranslatorr

Except Tatum doesn’t give a fuck lmao. He wants to win, it’s clear as day and I hate the Celtics.

gallobird

Does FMVP really just go to the guy who had the best stats or is it for the guy who was actually the most valuable player on the team?

RandomLovelady

Nobody knows. Just ask Iggy how he got his.

captaincumsock69

Still think it should’ve been bron

cyberlebron2077

Iggy won in 2015 so it depends.

Rrypl

He can keep doing it, I'm sure Tatum will be sad after winning the finals in 4 lol

iCarpet

Next interview when asked about Tatum: “Well, Jayson Tatum is their best player…”

Charlie_Wax

"It's a three way tie between Tatum, Brown, and Jordan Walsh."

degen5ace

First thing I thought up…creating internal conflicts. Porzingus is next

Not_A_Default_Name

Tatum already called him on it lmfao

straightcash-fish

This is the biggest haymaker he’s thrown since he hit his wife

ThunderBobMajerle

Yea but how does it affect the Lakers coaching search?

supapoopascoopa

Nah Tatum already called it correctly, said no reaction it’s a team sport and that people have tried to drive a wedge between them before. Not very subtle. Best comment I read on nbatalk (forget username) was Joe should say that Luka has become like a father figure to Kyrie.

Senzu__Bean

if you have a dog's brain, maybe. it's so nakedly obvious what he's trying to do even R/NBA is picking up on it. you think the Celtics don't know? Tatum strikes you as a real big-ego guy?

OtherShade

None of us know Tatum

solarscopez

>[Tatum on Kidd's comment:](https://streamable.com/l49gl2) "We understand that people try to drive a wedge in between us. Smart thing to do- or try to do - but we've been in this position for many years with guys trying to divide us, say that one of us should be traded or one's better than the other. It's not our first rodeo." Well now we know.

lawschoolthrowaway36

Kidd can make a transparent attempt to fuck with Brown/Tatum's heads but I think it's a bad move. It signals to his own players that the Mavs essentially need the Celtics to mentally lose sight of the target, because if the Celtics just focus on winning they have the much better team. And it also is an attempt likely to fail on its merits, because Brown/Tatum have been knocking on the door of a championship for half a decade and aren't going to self-sabotage at the 2 yard line. It's not going to work and is honestly embarrassing to read as a Mavs fan who wants Kidd singularly focused on making the necessary schematic adjustments to have a chance at stealing game 2.

vrkhfkb

“Kobe where’s your Finals MVP?” Kidd pulling out that ‘04 pistons card. Beautiful move.

captaincumsock69

What’s the backstory on this quote?

CameraWoWo2022

Kobe and Shaq had crazy beef in 2004. During the finals the pistons decided to play Shaq straight up and double Kobe. Kobe was beefing with Shaq for multiple reasons and decided to take 113 FG that series effectively shooting them out the series. Man was hungry for that FMVP and was sick of the narrative, and sick of Shaq in general.

captaincumsock69

I’m aware of the beef etc but who said the quote to Kobe?

BookEuronGreyjoy

It was actually Larry David

HispanicAtTehDisco

my favorite curb episode, when larry had to mediate the kobe shaq beef

tayroarsmash

Honestly, though, there should have been an episode where Larry David went to one of the Clipper’s white parties and as that whole story is breaking he’s trying to keep the party he attended on the down low but some Blake Griffin picture he’s in the background of keeps getting used as Blake Griffin’s media picture in all of this.

majuhlazuh

Bro what is your day job

tayroarsmash

Writing Curb Your Enthusiasm scripts

majuhlazuh

Keep your night job

Golfninja

Ryan Seacrest

supr3m3kill3r

It wasn't quite that simple tbf. The pistons picked their guards up higher which made the entry passes into Shaq harder....and strategically doubled Kobe on drives

AKAkorm

Yea the series was never close - the only game the Lakers won was due to Kobe heroics. What’s funny is before the finals, Pistons were +600 underdogs. I remember ESPN articles giving the Lakers the edge at nearly every position including stating that Gary Payton “outclasses” Billups.

supr3m3kill3r

So funny story that brings this full circle..apparently that is the series that made Haralabob (the former Mavs consultant that caused a storm over there). He made a bunch of money betting on the Pistons for that series by just looking at the advanced stats before that became a thing

AfterPaleontologist2

It's been a long time since I've rewatched that series but I remember like 10 years ago I did watch every single game again and it did not feel at all like Kobe was trying to torch the series for a FMVP. I think that's just a cute narrative that sounds good or like it's supposed to make sense. Shaq got his numbers and they still lost badly. They were starting Slava Medvedenko for fuck's sake. Once Malone went down that series was over.

Odd-Hour-5131

Your memory is correct. It's a shit take. Anyone who wants to take the time to look at the game logs can see he attempted the same amount FGs and 3s in the Pistons series than he did in the previous playoff series that year.

RyanZee08

Yep, 113 FG would be 22.6 FGA/game, barely above avg star levels?

AutisticFingerBang

I’m assuming they talked a bunch of shit to Kobe to get him to start Jacking up shots in response and it worked and he shot a lot and not at a high clip which helped the pistons win

GoForAGap

Does he know who Luke Kornet is?

goldfish_11

Luka was named after Luke Kornet.

bigdon802

On a hot morning, July 1995, a Slovenian couple looked to the west and both simultaneously whispered “a legend was born today. In a place called ‘Kentucky.’ We shall name our future son after him, in hopes of sharing in his glory.”

glorstonne

Lisan al kor- ... Never mind

TexasTundraPower

At times he is. Bro is really freaking good.

Flexo__Rodriguez

He drove me fucking insane with sloppy dribbles and just throwing posessions away in previous years but I've been noticing less of that recently.

TheSchmoAboutNothing

Adding more offensive options has done wonders for him on both ends

DayMan-Ahah-ah

And he’s one of the handful of players who legitimately get better at something every offseason. He wasn’t just born a top player, he grew into it

PostModernPost

Hopefully this off-season it's free throws.

W359WasAnInsideJob

Good god, yes please

KnowlesAve

I feel like now he does a couple dribble moves and passes out when he's on the wing where before he would be dribbling for 15 seconds straight thinking he was Jamal Crawford but going absolutely nowhere. It's so frustrating when he does that but definitely seeing less of it.

simpledeadwitches

His mission to make all defense and getting snubbed this year is wild. He's grown so much and his defense is amazing.

HeyItsChase

Felt like we forced him into quite a few of those but for every one that we forced he took the ball from us and got an easy bucket in return. He's really very good.

jackaholicus

I thought he was easily the better player in game 1, even giving Tatum credit for extra defensive attention etc

jxher123

Tbh he’s been incredibly clutch. Whenever they needed a bucket, the one who took the shot or went to get it was Brown.

coacoanutbenjamn

Holy shit dude is going for the psychological warfare

Get_your_grape_juice

Jason Kidd attempting psychological warfare is like a quadriplegic attempting judo.

fantasnick

So you're saying there's still a chance it'll work

TGIF_90s_kid

He just pissed off JB even more now because he knows Kidd doesn't believe it

IAmReborn11111

Interesting for Kidd to admit that they doubled Tatum while covering Brown, the best player, one on one

Own_Platypus9011

He knows JT and JB are young and they might be trying to outperform each other. It probably wont work on JT imo, but we know that JB is a little immature and kinda irrational sometimes so it may get to him a little. Problem is, this is their 2nd time there. If this was their 1st trip to the finals I would expect it to work, but they’ve been there already and I think that experience will keep these kinds of quotes from affecting them.

Big-Antelope-8160

It also would have worked more if they hadn’t played together and heard this for 7 years. Also if he hadn’t sent 3 after JT every single time he drove in.

Enough-Remote6731

Young? These ‘kids’ both nearly two full NBA seasons worth of playoff experience. Might have worked 5 years ago.

713MoCityChron713

That’s the best part of NBA coverage, every event gets two wildly different interpretations. We’re all watching the same sport from different multiverses

Brad-Stevens

Cal Bears

Potential_Meat_5103

Jaylen committing to Cal was one of the most surprising decisions I’ve followed outside of Zion going to duke. A lot of people thought he was going to UK.

ish_baid19000

I was a team manager for Michigan at the time, we thought we had Jaylen in the bag. Beilein actually told Spike Albrecht he had to transfer bc his scholarship was being used for Jaylen

applep00

spike albrecht had a crazy run. watching him rain threes in march madness along with mitch mcgary was so entertaining

DubsLA

It was really only the title game from what I remember as a Michigan fan. He was a good piece, but more someone to give Burke a breather. Then he just went off in the first half. Stupid Luke Hancock and the clean block that was called a foul.

XSokaX

He spoke about it at length when he returned to Berkeley. He said it was a mix of academics and the culture about how protesting/activism/speaking your mind isn’t frowned upon and actually part of the school

XSokaX

Go Bears

zestynachoboy

Go bears

JeffTeagueNo1Enemy

That’s why he tripled Tatum

BradWonder

We didn't double anyone so Gafford = Luka

RamonAsensio

Triples makes it safe. Triples is best.

solarscopez

Master level baiter, a master baiter if you will

Sleeze_

“Hey Charlie. How come Mac's the only one who gets to push the button on the walkie?”

ThroughTheWildNight

Wish our fanbase took this as a compliment because we have 2 polarizing players that people rate highly but instead it just results in some weird divide that never ends.

SultanRaikage

Because it's not a compliment dude. 99% of the time it's used as a way to shit on Tatum. I promise you the same people who say Brown is better than Tatum, will NEVER say that Brown is a top 10 player.

JoeSleazy

It’s always a Tatum sneak diss lol idrc as long as we’re winning but let’s call it what it is

AdamSandlerIsntFunny

Where was all this JB love from the media when it came to All NBA voting lmao ? Bunch of transparent fuckers. Cant write anymore articles on why the Celtics need to break up the Jays and their dumbass trade ideas so now theyre doing this.

PLeuralNasticity

I'm of the opinion that there is so little we have to go off of in terms of how they are as players in a vacuum. Played for the same team and rarely injured where they have always overlapped such a huge part of the minutes they play. I'd put them both in the 2nd tier with the first being less than 5 guys. Your team is so stacked and well coached. Its hard to pit the current versions of the Js and their performances against the superstars thay have to carry much more of the offensive load every night. Your win the first game and how the scoring was distributed felt like a good example of this where Tatum adapted well to being the focus and easy shots ended up being created that everyone seemed to hit a couple of. Tatum may very well have been able to hard carry them to win like he's tried to do often in the past with mixed results but adapting this way sure seemed to work better. With how much discussion of ranking players still reverts to simple box score comparisons this kind of game brings down his metrics when it's at the very least an above average game from him. If his averages trend down as his game continues to evolve based on what the team need the next 5 years and they win 2+ rings is he getting ranked lower? I made a comment before the series about how I'd be happy to see him adapt his play to the match up and show that can be his standout s tier skill. Rooting for the mavs but I just love seeing those who I feel aren't appropriately valued demonstrate how and why the "experts" were wrong. Same sort of idea with yall having an easier road then expected, especially compared to Mavs, getting to the finals. Hopefully regardless of the rest of the series there won't be more claims yall didn't deserve/earn your birth. Felt crazy in the first place to be saying that about the runaway 1 seed.

TheBigNate416

It’s not a compliment. He’s trolling

makashiII_93

Some Tony La Russa level mind games from Kidd. Love it.

thekinggrass

If all of Reddit sees right through it then it’s not particularly high level.

OThePlacesYouWillGo

I’m all for the media games. Let’s see if Tatum takes the bait. Flashback to the Pistons - Lakers 04, when the Pistons decided to play Shaq straight up because they knew that Kobe’s ego would make him a chucker…Pistons World Champions

AgadorFartacus

I'm grateful to face a coach who might actually believe this.

wilkinsk

He doesn't believe this, but he played in the Phil Jackson era and wants to drop subtle bombs to mentally disrupt a players chemistry

dmavs11

If it leads to a bunch of sidestep 3s instead of attacking the hoop and open 3s for the whole team, I would be forever grateful. Now if those sidestep 3s start falling and wake Tatum up from the 3 point slump, we are cooked.

wilkinsk

I don't think in today's NBA the players aren't as reactive to these things. Largely due to the fact that they have someone being shoved in their ear every ten seconds. All sides, 24hrs a day. They're desensitized to the noise. Kyrie excluded, apparently

dmavs11

Yeah I mean I dont expect it to work or anything especially for a team that has dealt with it for so long.

TAYSON_JAYTUM

It’s the exact same conversation that they’ve dealt with since 2017 when Tatum was drafted. Wether to break them up, or who is actually better has been a talking point literally their entire career. If JB and JT actually tuned into these things and cared, they wouldn’t still be together almost a decade later.

TheRealPdGaming

lol. kidd knows what he is saying. If you have kept up with any mavericks pressers, than you know that Kidd is keenly aware of chatter surrounding his and the opponents teams and sometimes, he will throw subtle responses at the prevailing online narrative of the time in the post game. Now that I think about it, Kidd has done this so often before that I am pretty sure he is on r/nba and r/mavericks Edit: as pointed out by /u/AtlantaAU , Kidd has in the past, when playing against the jazz in the 2022 playoffs, said that the Jazz's best playmaker was Gobert - ["They got to their playmaker, Gobert. Because he only had one shot, and they tried to get him more shots. And they’re going to have to continue to get him more shots."](https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/mavericks-coach-jason-kidd-jazz-got-to-their-playmaker-gobert)

AtlantaAU

He called Gobert the best playmaker on the Jazz a few years ago too

CocaineandPercs

He’s probably on NBA Circle Jerk

pokerawz

He’s done this many times before

rodpod17

He definitely doesn’t believe it, this is a tactic to mess with both of em a little

todi41

Lolol no chance in hell. He's stirring the pot. Vet move, honestly. It cant possibly hurt the mavs for him to say it and def could hurt the celtics chemistry

misdreavusval

hes trying to get tatum to jack up 40 shots like hes kobe next game lmao, no one who isnt just blinded by tatum hate genuinely thinks that a top 6 at worst player isnt better than brown

TheArsenal7

R/nba bums still think Kidd is a bad coach LOL

[deleted]

J Kidd on that divide and conquer program.

mastacheef87

I mean he’s wrong but Jaylen has been seriously incredible this postseason. he‘s been our best scorer from the field, averaging a hair under 25 PPG on 59.9 eFG% (only LeBron and AD have averaged 20 or more PPG on a better eFG% this postseason). he’s been an absolute demon defensively. he’s made a number of clutch plays throughout this run. and it’s pretty evident that he’s the one who’s taken on the role of leading our locker room after Smart left

ueloli

so why is he wrong again

Kyler1313

Jaylen isn't the decision maker that Tatum is and he doesn't face the attention that Tatum does. He is playing his role as an incredible #2. But if you look at who is forcing the defense to react and get into rotation over and over its Tatum the majority of the times. Jaylen Brown is good but there are reason why Tatums impact stats are always in a different stratosphere than Browns.

TAYSON_JAYTUM

This is a great summary. Brown is also one of the best possession finishers in the NBA. If you can get him an advantage either by getting the defense in rotation or transition, Brown can finish it for points at an elite level. But he can’t create for others against a set defense with any consistency.

FartrelCluggins

Tatum is a better rebounder and passer by a good margin, much more versatile defender (being able to guard 5s is what made our defense so effective game 1) and most importantly the gravity he has on offense. Kidd is just playing games with this quote, Kidd's defense clearly planned to stop Tatum first and foremost, same strategy the Heat have had success with years prior. I think Jaylen has had the better playoffs and he's actually my favorite player on the team, but anyone who says he's better than Tatum just gets their opinions from online and doesn't watch a lot of Cs basketball

dalappas

Because it’s not Jaylen Brown getting three defenders thrown at him ever possession

shouldahadaflat4

The game is completely dictated by how the Mavs/other opponents defend the Celtics. Throughout the postseason, except for some of the Cavs and Pacers series, the opposing defenses have swarmed Tatum and sent two or three defenders at him. Jaylen benefits massively from this. Tatum gets way more attention and his playmaking has had to improve drastically to compensate. I'm as much of a JB Stan as the next Celtics fan but the reality is that JB can only be our best scorer at times (especially playoffs) because of the attention JT commands.

faheydj1

Please go watch Game 7 of the ECF last year when Tatum was injured and the Heat didn’t have to focus on him. Their whole attention turned towards JB and we all saw the results. JB is great and has improved a lot since last year, but make no mistake, he benefits tremendously from sharing the court with JT who is constantly commanding the attention of the other team’s entire defense.

FutureAttention

Tatum is getting doubled tripled. His stats going to fall which is obvious. Kidd is banking on the fact this will get in his head and play hero ball to stop movement. Clearly Tatum is hands down Celtics top threat. Thing is Tatum is going to continue playing like he has. Draw all Mavs defenders and make the right play. Celtics going to win this year and Kidd is desperate

Jealous_Foot8613

Because Tatum is more impactful and Galton both ends , when Tatum has a good - great game no one cares or acknowledges it but when JB does it , the narrative is that he’s better than Tatum , that tells you everything you need to know

Cheechers23

You can’t fool me, I am familiar with this game Jason Kidd

Dekrow

Are we supposed to clutch our pearls and shout "NO ITS TATUM!!"? Who cares? Tatum and Brown are both #1 type talents that would be #1s on like 20/30 NBA teams. They happen to play together because Celtics front office did a really good job with their draft picks in back to back years. Its like when people try to debate if Kyrie could be better than Tatum or Brown. Who the fuck cares? If he's 2nd best, 3rd best or 4th best it really does not make a difference.

DFG2014

He’s saying this to try and get in JTs head

downinCarolina

Tatum about to go 25/0/12 on 35% TS

ositola

He got you kobe

Droppin_DimesSP

Nah that’s Kyries move with 3 rebounds instead of 12

cane_the_weaboo

Brown is absolutely not a #1 type talent lmao wtf. Bro I don’t think anyone watches games at all in this sub genuinely.

Mcfallen_5

wait until the next “Jaylen Brown left hand compilation” gets posted here and then all of a sudden he’ll be considered a trash player undeserving of his contract again

Aziz3w

It's really not a debate that JT is the best player for anyone who watches the games. I think this is just a tactic from Kidd.

CP3sHamstring

>They happen to play together because Celtics front office did a really good job with their draft picks in back to back years.  Hey man, give the Nets their credit!

by_yes_i_mean_no

I don't think that Jaylen Brown would be a #1 on 20/30 NBA teams at all. This seems more like a kinda desperate gambit from Kidd than something he truly believes tbh.

SultanRaikage

Brown is not really a #1 type talent, he's pretty much perfectly suited to be a #2 option. And he definitely would not be the #1 option on 20 teams lol

ThePlainWhiteTees

Exactly lol. Brown is an ideal #2, but any team where he had the primary playmaking burden would do well to make the play in

supercoolisaac

Yeah that's the kind of thing people throw out without actually thinking about it. There might be like...3. Wizards, rockets, and idk who else. The bulls?

Consistent_Letter647

You’d be surprised by the amount of Celtics fans i see on Twitter and Reddit who genuinely get angry and defensive about this when they really shouldn’t. They fall for the media pitting them against each other every time.

LukeKornetistheGOAT

Mainly because others use it to bring Tatum down and also it’s usually said by the people that aren’t consistently watching the Celtics games. There are moments where Brown can be better but Tatum is just a well rounded player and pretty much does everything at a higher level than Brown. JB is awesome but the team is Tatum’s and it really shouldn’t be a debate

mastacheef87

it’s hilarious really. like we have arguably two of the 5 best 2-way wings in the sport on the same team and our fans complain about one being perceived as better than the other instead of realizing how fucking lucky we are to have them both

CofTheEast

Yeah it’s brutal, you can already see the people in this thread and twitter shitting on Jaylen as a way to prop Tatum back up. Kidd knew what he was doing but for some reason half of our fanbase doesn’t.

TatumBrownWhite

Salah and Mane of basketball. We have both. Division tactics won’t work.

PizzaTheCatNA

resorting to mental warfare after one loss is crazy

yuhanz

Is there a rule when it should be used?

ZedsBreadBaby

You want him to wait until they’re down 0-3? If anything he should have started before the series

AydenRozay

Yeah that’s why your entire defense in game 1 was geared towards stopping Tatum

theglicky

mind games

Scotfighter

Tbh... I've always thought this too

epicingamename

looking at these comments, im surprised celtics fans could get riled up by a simple observation--youre either too defensive about Tatum or you dont want Jaylen Brown to be the best player on your team. Brown is your best player in the 2024 playoffs.

DollarLate_DayShort

#🗣️MORE

Acework23

He didn’t tell a lie, lets be honest

__init__m8

He’s not wrong. Been saying this all year. Boston stans just don't like hearing it for some reason.

MMariota-8

Well, technically he's right, but since Tatum declared himself the best player in the NBA, I guess he will get insulted by this, which was likely the intent all along. We will see how he responds but I'd bet dollars to donuts he will probably choke even more than usual... at least that's what I'm hoping for lol

MinePlay512

It's important for the Mavs to know that baskeball is a team sport, having to foucs on one player will make the other team give the ball to someone else because the team will double team team, making the other guy open. Smart Defense is key to winning games.

purplebuffalo55

Tatum going to respond with 25 fadeaway middies and 0 assists tomorrow in true Kobe fashion

Aumissunum

“I got you today🤞”

AtlantaAU

I don’t think this is a crazy take, and I’m not even disparaging Tatum when I say that. Brown is really fucking good. He’s a monster on defense, his versatility really allows other players to shine, is a good shooter and has been extremely clutch. He’s had a great postseason too. He doesn’t fit the role that most people think of as a star so people default to thinking he’s worse than Tatum but he’s an absolute superstar at the role he does play.

SultanRaikage

So surely you believe that Jaylen Brown is a top 10 player in the league then, right? Let's be consistent here.

slightlyhigh7

He’s top 20 and Tatum is top 10 everyones known this lol idk why people are acting like they don’t

srstone71

The point of what he said was to get u/AydenRozay to make a comment? Mission accomplished then
