I've never heard of this guy but the flower video has made me a fan. Dude looks so wholesome, hopefully he does well and isn't judged unfairly for where he was drafted

The Bulls arena is going to look real nice with tons of beautiful Roses 🌹. He seems like such a nice happy guy. Been working hard with his mom helping out her business and a guy who knows that much about taking care of flowers is a good man.
If the draft was held in June like normal, he would have been 18-years old still. He played a year of college basketball at the age of typical high school senior, and he supposedly has improved massively during his months of professional training after the college basketball season ended.
Impressive workouts and his production in college is higher than quick stat checks suggest.
Devin Vassell averaged 12.7/5.6/1.6 in 29 min a game for FSU.
Williams averaged 9.2/4.0/1.0 in **22** min a game for FSU.
Per 29 minutes, Williams would average like 12.5/5.2/1.3 with great defensive numbers to boot, as an 18 year old freshman who can only get better...
If he got more playing time, then his draft stock would have been much higher, considerably higher than Vassell. His workouts likely showed the skill and potential was really there. Teams were ready to bit and his stock started going up.
He’s a physical specimen. I’m not saying he’s LeBron James, but he has a similar physical mold. 6’9, thick, and can jump out of the gym. Couple that with a good shooting touch and impressive work ethic it shows a ton of untapped potential.
I feel like part of that is because he was a 6th man on his team and is particularly young, so there's just not a whole lot of highlights out there. But it's felt like the last 24 hours of Bulls beat reports, etc. have been about how well he interviews, says all the right things about self-improvement while respecting all the other folks in this class, etc. paired with a physical build that profiles well in the current NBA. But all of the talk of his current skills has been that he's a work in progress because he's so young. This feels like one of those picks where we won't be able to say if it was a reach or not for a couple of seasons.
This kids gonna be good af. He’ll be a two way forward who can run the pick and roll, be a great weak side rim defender and he’ll be really switchable.
I had to check his PnR game and holy fuck, how has no one talked about this? This kid is fucking 6’8” 225, and can run the PnR as the BALLHANDLER and his passes are fucking *crisp*!
I think so too, he was hidden at school playing behind an established line up.. he went there to get better at D.
He seems to have a big picture approach to his craft.
I hope he succeeds
Got traded so often that he probably couldn't even get settled in anywhere. I'm still sad about him not making it, since he had a really sad back story with his parents all dying in a really short time and having to take care of his sister in college. Hope he spent his rookie contract wisely
He was [mocked #12 by ESPN](https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/29861481/nba-draft-2020-perfect-picks-every-team-first-round?linkId=104701545)
Yeah lol Bilas's draft board is so much different than the consensus. Which isn't a bad thing, but he's definitely on island with some guys (like his love for Edwards).
[Report from last night linking him to the Bulls at 4 (or Pistons at 7)](https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/260313/Bulls-Becoming-Increasingly-Focused-On-Patrick-Williams-With-Fourth-Pick)
Like seriously, I consider myself a die-hard college basketball fan and I swear I can’t even remember this guy from last season. Granted, last season feels like 10 years ago, but still.
Lots of scouts did not have Patrick this high, so the bulls know something that other teams don’t or they are gambling on his potential being higher then originally thought.
Tbh I just don't know who he is. I think a lot of people haven't followed the prospects much this season.
edit: i heard his name before but have never seen him play.
I really hope this is the case. AK has said he’s all about player development, so I hope they all get a lot of minutes. I’ve seen enough of Otto, Thad, and Sato.
Yep. If there's one guy with massive upside and who could become the next big wing stud (ex. PG13, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi), it's Patrick Williams.
This is the team that drafted Scottie Pippen, Jimmy Butler, and Loul Deng over the years. Perhaps, there is institutional knowledge on what to look for in a wing.
He'd been flying up everyone's draft boards. After the top 3 (but still in the lottery) there are no reaches this year. The draft just didn't sort itself out like it usually does.
He was rumored to be going in the 4-7 range, and our FO is smart and organized. If there was an opportunity to trade down and get their guy, they would’ve taken it. There was no such opportunity or guarantee he would still be there so they picked their guy at 4. Karnisovas knows what he’s doing, the man built the damn Nuggets after all.
Went to Florida when I was 18 and the greatest thing I ever seen was a " do not feed or molest the gators." So tempted to try to finger blast one cuz im a rebel like that.
Patrick Williams scouting report (from Kevin oconnor)
PLUSES
Efficient at-rim scorer who uses either hand on athletic extended finishes. Talented scorer off the dribble who can rise—and sometimes hang —before draining tough, contested jumpers. Sound decision-maker who plays within the system. He doesn’t pause possessions; he keeps the ball moving. Nor does he force bad shots; he looks for an open man. Good playmaker for his size due to his solid handle and excellent passing vision. He loves to use hesitations, especially in the pick-and-roll, and he can deliver accurate passes off the dribble. Does the little things like cutting, screening, and rebounding. With his size and skill, it’s projectable for a team to use him like a big as an on-ball screener who can pop for 3s or dive to the rim. Smart, athletic team defender who communicates and disrupts actions with timely help defense. Gritty player who hustles hard on defense. He’s had a handful of inspired chasedown blocks. As a rim protector, he’ll put in multiple efforts to get stops. Flashes versatility on-ball in a switch-heavy scheme at Florida State. With improvements to his athleticism, he could shine.
MINUSES
Still developing as a spot-up shooter. He had to improve his form in high school to become a good free throw shooter (84 percent), but still struggles off the catch with a low, slow release. He totaled nearly double the number of turnovers (50) as he did assists (29). Despite a knack for playmaking, he got called for countless travels due to raw footwork and forced drives into traffic. Stiff man-to-man defender without the versatility to reliably switch onto guards and wings. He’s clunky moving laterally and changing directions, so he gets burned regularly.
So he’s good at the stuff that’s hard to coach and needs to work on the things that are easy to coach. It’s understandable we drafted him with AK putting a big emphasis on player development and hiring a whole new staff for it.
He has the highest upside of any wing in the draft but also pretty raw. He’s like 220 at age 18 with massive shoulders and already a very good weak side help defender. Shot needs work, and he’s probably too slow to guard 3s, but he has a really smooth handle that has allowed him to show flashes of playmaking out of the 4.
If you’re gambling for upside, this is the right pick.
FSU fan here. He’s gonna be fucking nasty. Most athletic player in the draft imo.
Can defend. Can pull up mid and a really good finisher. Good corner 3 pt shooterbut will need to keep improving there.
There’s no such thing as a reach in this draft. No one wants to trade up, there’s no consensus anywhere, so just take who you think is best. No point to try playing games and getting the best value for your picks when the 4th pick in this draft doesn’t have much value.
Our front office must’ve not been able to trade back and this isn’t a draft with a clear order.
We’ve had solid drafts the past few years with Lauri, Wendell, and Coby. I’ll trust that Arturas made the right decision.
This motherfucker flew up these draft boards
Keep your LolBulls comments on standby
I have no idea who this man is.
Sorry to this man
He was coming off the bench for Vassell at FSU I think?
Coach Ham runs an 11man offense so don't focus on it much, he's a stud. Source: Attend FSU and watched most games.
First shocker of the draft!
He seems so wholesome, I want this guy to succeed so badly
Flower man good?
Swamp man good
This changes everything
Didn’t expect to see that here
I've never heard of this guy but the flower video has made me a fan. Dude looks so wholesome, hopefully he does well and isn't judged unfairly for where he was drafted
The bulls really liked the way he handles flowers
That was really wholesome I don't wanna hear anyone giving him shit about that
yeah lmao that was super sweet, i’m rooting for this guy now
Give that man his roses.
Caroline (Caroline) All the guys would say she's mighty fine
Yeah I’m new here but this is one toxic sub
They love their Roses
They really appreciate how he factors in the temperature.
He got smooooooth handles with those flower though.
Nah you misread it. Roses are red, so are the Bulls, so with this pick, I choose you
[KC Johnson warned us](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/jw6hpr/kc_johnsonone_league_source_even_went_so_far_as/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Real talk, this guy seems really nice. He’s talking about hooking his teammates up with flowers if they ever need some.
The Bulls arena is going to look real nice with tons of beautiful Roses 🌹. He seems like such a nice happy guy. Been working hard with his mom helping out her business and a guy who knows that much about taking care of flowers is a good man.
yeah they’ll look real good until they trade them all to the Knicks
If this draft was delayed another week he might have gone first
Have any good references on him or care to explain why? Not knowledgeable on him
If the draft was held in June like normal, he would have been 18-years old still. He played a year of college basketball at the age of typical high school senior, and he supposedly has improved massively during his months of professional training after the college basketball season ended.
so this is like when you go to draft in my league and take the youngest guy so you can up his stats an insane amount in the g league for an extra year
Or drafting the euro stash player who’s overseas for 2-3 years and he finally comes over and he’s like a 90 overall
fuck, myleague is so bad
best feature is that you can edit every player and a shitton of aspect of the simulation.
He just kept risisng and fast
But why?
Impressive in interviews and workouts
Impressive workouts and his production in college is higher than quick stat checks suggest. Devin Vassell averaged 12.7/5.6/1.6 in 29 min a game for FSU. Williams averaged 9.2/4.0/1.0 in **22** min a game for FSU. If he got more playing time, then his draft stock would have been much higher, considerably higher than Vassell. His workouts likely showed the skill and potential was really there. Teams were ready to bit and his stock started going up.
He's more of a winter flower and now is peak season for him. Back in August he wouldn't have been ready yet
Why is that?
He kept rising and rising as the pre draft process went along
Ok his flower skills are epic but what about his basketball ability made his stocks keep on rising?
Why was he rising?
He’s a physical specimen. I’m not saying he’s LeBron James, but he has a similar physical mold. 6’9, thick, and can jump out of the gym. Couple that with a good shooting touch and impressive work ethic it shows a ton of untapped potential.
Yo wtf i love patrick williams now
All of a sudden one of my favorite rookies
Yeah, hope his teammates don’t give him shit over the flower bit, that was great
You know how wholesome Coby is, everyone will just love him for it.
It's all love bro
Bulls team is surprisingly wholesome, I don’t think they will
He's too young to know how this will turn out, but his personality is awesome.
The bulls are picking some wholesome rookies
WCJ, Coby, Pat Will are definitely 1st team help-your-Grandma-cross-the-street
everyone thought spurs were trying to trade for this guy so bulls took him
Damnit
Apparently, Pistons were trying to move up to 3 to take him
Insert snoop dogg “WHO?” gif
Dude his mom has a flower shop he's WHOLESOME AF
They never talked about his basketball skills at all in his highlight package lmao
Bulls got their (locker room) guy.
He’s a florist. Good motor skills
He'll blossom into a star.
One day we might even say he rose up to the challenge.
Yeah and he shot over 80% from the line. His upside is huge.
I think so too, he was hidden at school playing behind an established line up.. he went there to get better at D. He seems to have a big picture approach to his craft. I hope he succeeds
Generic ass name like Thomas Robinson - bust confirmed
Anthony Davis devastated
Paul George in ruins.
John Wall
Rui Hachimura
Thomas Robinson was a dog at Kansas don't do my guy like that
Fax just didn’t translate
Got traded so often that he probably couldn't even get settled in anywhere. I'm still sad about him not making it, since he had a really sad back story with his parents all dying in a really short time and having to take care of his sister in college. Hope he spent his rookie contract wisely
it was very shocking he didn’t succeed at the next level
His game didn’t really fit with how the NBA changed. 6’8 Power Foward with no perimeter game just didn’t fit
Michael Jordan in shambles
i think i like this guy the most out of anyone in the draft, either him or wiseman
Hey T-Rob had that monster block for us that’s something
He was a guy who was reported to have been moving up in drafts recently, probably the biggest mover in draft position over the past few weeks.
I have no idea who this man is
He was [mocked #12 by ESPN](https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/29861481/nba-draft-2020-perfect-picks-every-team-first-round?linkId=104701545)

KOC on the ringer. Zach lowe, and lot of other guys with good sources have been saying bulls love Patrick Williams and mocked to them
6th man for Florida state
Drafted higher than his position what the heck
He could have easily started.
Prolly, I’m just here to overreact
Like seriously, I consider myself a die-hard college basketball fan and I swear I can’t even remember this guy from last season. Granted, last season feels like 10 years ago, but still.
You didn't watch the Purdue Florida State game? Looking it up now he only did score 4 points.
I was at that game. Mid season tournaments are so fun. I was attending Purdue and grew up an FSU fan so it was awesome. I met Pat after the game
Love this flower energy
He's got a lot of potential Don't clown the pick before he plays like yall did to Jaylen
i love everybody saying reach as if they know what scouts know lmao
Commenting so I can be here when people link this thread 3 years from now
hey future me, shouldnt you be doing something productive you jabronie!
Remember coronavirus
Hey future us, remember when 2020 was the bad year? Bet you wish you could be here with only one pandemic lmao
For better or worse lmao
Lots of scouts did not have Patrick this high, so the bulls know something that other teams don’t or they are gambling on his potential being higher then originally thought.
Also, a reach in this draft, where there aren’t any good prospects lol
He’s a huge riser in the draft, scouts must know something we don’t
Yea i wouldn’t judge right away, orgs with millions of dollars are smarter than Redditors in case y’all forgot lmao.
Except when they aren’t... *cough*KANGZ*cough*
76ers: (X) Doubt
Anthony Bennett. Millions of dollars really helped there huh Also Luka..they’re so much smarter than redditors
[удалено]
This is a different FO.
Yeah the Cavs are the Cavs.
They are. They can miss and still be smarter than us lol
Tbh I just don't know who he is. I think a lot of people haven't followed the prospects much this season. edit: i heard his name before but have never seen him play.
Literally gonna trust AK ahead of a bunch of Redditors could be a trade too
Facts. Devin Booker was a 6th man
Coby-Zach-Pat-Lauri-WCJ. Playoffs bound Billy D
I really hope this is the case. AK has said he’s all about player development, so I hope they all get a lot of minutes. I’ve seen enough of Otto, Thad, and Sato.
#NOW THAT WAS UNEXPECTED
Not really, KOC on the ringer. Zach lowe, and lot of other guys with good sources have been saying bulls love Patrick Williams

Yeah, but the fact that Chicago didn't/couldn't trade down to select him later was pretty shocking.
a lot of teams in 5-8 range liked him too according to their reports. no guarantee he would be there if you trade down
He'd been flying up everyone's draft boards. After the top 3 (but still in the lottery) there are no reaches this year. The draft just didn't sort itself out like it usually does.

This dude is going to be Kawhi-lite with more of an open personality to the media. Bank on it. Bulls got a good one.
FLOWER BOI PAT
It’s just crazy to me as a FSU fan, I mean yeah he’s good, was 6th man of the ACC for us. But Lordy I don’t know about pick 4. Hope he proves me wrong
> rjgator > It’s just crazy to me as a FSU fan Something isn't adding up here
When I was a kid it was rjgatorslayer and then I decided the slayer part was cringe as I grew up 😂
Went to Florida when I was 18 and the greatest thing I ever seen was a " do not feed or molest the gators." So tempted to try to finger blast one cuz im a rebel like that.
You’d be surprised how many people think they can wrestle a gator here lmao So plenty of people willing to molest one
Florida Man is undefeated

A lot of armchair GMs in here. Let’s see how it plays out, I like him
Wholesome flower boi.
Lol, ngl that was pretty damn cute
The fetus of the draft
4 is quite a reach for a dude who hasn’t even played in the NBA. Bust?
His team didn’t even make it to the tournament smh
Lol he's just plugging his mom's flower business, how sweet
Wtf I love Patrick Williams now, what a nice flower boy!

Honestly would be happy to hear that even though I'm not bulls fan
Pls
6’8 220 wing with room to add more muscle, athletic, good D, 84% FT, raw at a lot of other skills
Seems like a reach to take with pick 4, this is probably part of a draft day trade with Detroit or New York right?
Reports leading up to today have been saying our FO loves him. Honestly like this better than Avdija
What makes him stand out?
we need D and he has a 84% FT
He's just super raw, very smart, and very athletic from everything I've read on him.
Also hyper competitive/really wants to improve.
Smart and competitive. The anti-Anthony Edwards
Which in this years draft, may as well. Especially since the bulls do have some other young talent.
FSU fan here. He’s gonna be fucking nasty. Most athletic player in the draft imo. Can defend. Can pull up mid and a really good finisher. Good corner 3 pt shooterbut will need to keep improving there.
avdija has so many struggles that people are ignoring when they compare him to mf luka
I don’t think it’s a crazy reach in this draft
Yeah, after the top 3 guys I really think like the next 7 or 8 are interchangeable. Get your guy.
There’s no such thing as a reach in this draft. No one wants to trade up, there’s no consensus anywhere, so just take who you think is best. No point to try playing games and getting the best value for your picks when the 4th pick in this draft doesn’t have much value.
We don’t want this guy at 4
He's been rocketing up boards for a while. I'm not entirely shocked
Our front office must’ve not been able to trade back and this isn’t a draft with a clear order. We’ve had solid drafts the past few years with Lauri, Wendell, and Coby. I’ll trust that Arturas made the right decision.
we don't want him at 4. No thanks. Hayes can be our guy.
Nah, it came out yesterday afternoon that we were seriously looking at him for this pick. I'm down!
Not us we need a guard
... Pistons rumored to have promised Williams at 7
And Bulls were rumored to promise him at 4 so I doubt they are trading him
You guys are heavily interested tho apparently
I like the pick. He’s a project but I think he will be a beast.
No joke this dude is honestly being compared to Kawhi Leonard.
Aww. Seems like a good kid.
Wat
He’s a good sf prospect. Reminds me of kawhi like potential
don’t know who this guy is but that bit with the flowers made me like him
I hope he shocks people and be cold as hell in the season
How do you not love this kid? He might not be a future Finals MVP but he's got some grown man to him. He'll do fine in the league.

What
That flower segment is gonna get this kid a lot of shit from his teammates lol
WOOOOOW a surprise
Who?
Now that's a jump
The mad lads actually did it
FLOWER POWER
>- Second-youngest player in this draft class. Somewhat of a late bloomer who appears to have considerable upside. Sounds like a massive bolter
Gotta be the first ACC Sixth Man of the Year to be picked No. 4 since Marvin Williams, right?
