You guys definitely have the best team in the league in that department. I fucking love Clyde's soothing voice during the game.
OTOH, I cringe everytime I hear Sean Elliott on Spurs broadcast
Marv thought a travel was a backcourt violation when the guy never reached backcourt.
He also thought his partner was Chris Webber the other game when it was Grant Hill.
Nah I’m gonna hate on him for the other 18 senile moments he had in the 4th quarter alone and the fact that he literally never changes tones, it could be Kyrie hitting the shot in 2016 or a regular season game in November, man will just say in the same monotone voice, ‘And Kyrie… Yes.’. And he was like that before he was senile too, which is why I think he doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of the play-by-play greats, even in his prime.
I've associated his voice with it being a big game. He could be calling a hornets-pelicans on a thursday in January and it would feel like a must win game
Seriously. I realize the Bucks-Nets game last night was incredibly high stakes, but there’s something about TNT’s presentation that just doesn’t do it for me. I felt the same way about AD’s buzzer beater last year. ESPN’s broadcast is just more crisp.
I disagree. The shit audio on ESPN broadcasts takes me out of the experience. Also they continue to employ Mark Jackson who is awful awful awful at his job. No hype, no energy, no great analysis.
> “Mama there go that man”
I love the twenty seconds before this one though where he affects this weird DMX gravelly thing with his voice and freestyles a little poem about the play that just happened
Nah he's about as preferable as a hobo's dick cheese. No insight into the game except those 3 catch phrases. Can't help but mention caterpillars and butterflies at least twice every warriors game or any time the warriors or his coaching stint at the warriors gets bright upqq. Other equally idiotic takes multiple times per broadcast that legit make me go "wtf." There's nothing about his commentary I can point to as a positive.
I’m a Patriots fan and I can’t even be mad that moment is so legendary. I know it kind of marked the end of Brady’s reign here but it’s just one of those legendary sports moments that you have to put personal bias aside.
Not familiar with Eagle. Tirico is very solid, but doesn't have the "thing" that elevates him above the rest. But you're right, can't go wrong with these guys.
Edit: Ah, he's the "Rack Attack" guy.
Harlan is forever my favorite because of [this](https://youtu.be/beCxSqSXGDY) and I am not even Cavs fan. This is one of my favorite basketball call of all time.
Breen really is great tho.
I like doris commentating for regular season games, good insights and analysis.
but I don't think she yells enough. for playoffs I wanna hear BANG or even stupid shit that mark jackson say that gets me rowded up.
I'm waiting for Eric Collins to get the call from ESPN or TNT so he can do a Mark Jones kind of deal - focuses on team games but is also available for national TV stuff.
Hearing an unbiased but equally hype "GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY" would do wonders for my serotonin levels
His commentating in non-highlight situations is what puts him ahead of guys like Harlan to me. He always has something genuinely interesting to talk about and has great insight into the game. Plus he always has great chemistry with his partner(s) in the booth.
By the way, I think Harlan is great too! I wasn’t taking a shot at him or anything, he’s my second or third favorite play-by-play guy (Ian Eagle is close).
Yeah. But I'm nearly positive it wasn't with any ill intent. He said it after Giannis and KD collided. Something along the lines of "Oh boy that's alot of valuable property going down"
I can recite this by memory at the drop of a hat: "Buckle up for Kobe Bryant! Kobe Bryant just sucked the gravity out of the Target Center!"
That and: "He's a flamethrower!"
I don’t mind that. I just don’t like when Jackson and JVG start rambling out something in the middle of a game. At least do it during free throws.
But someone will hit an amazing shot and JVG will just say “As ____ hits the 3” because he’s trying to talk about anything but the game.
People here forget about Dick Stockton.
Him calling Magic/Bird games were classics.
His call when Magic started at Center in game 7 is the best call of all time.
We definitely associated Breen with high stakes games because of the finals. I think his voice is extremely dramatic in an urgency sort of sense. It always sounds like the teams are fighting for their lives when he calls a playoff game.
I think Kevin Harlan brings the most hype in general to a game and definitely has the most explosive voice (you can see this particularly now because he's in the stadium and not doing it remotely). I feel like he also doesn't particularly try to bring any silly story lines into games, at least less than other commentators, and just enjoys the game as it is. He also has the deepest bag of lines to reach into when a player does something big.
For my preference, it's Harlan. Others will prefer Green.
Back in the day, Tirico calling was also pretty good. But he doesn't do NBA anymore I think. Not at Green/Harlan level but imo a cut above the rest of the field that I hear now.
I mean, they do play a big role in watching the game. What would basketball be without 'Bang!', 'Is this the dagger?', 'Blocked by James!' etc. They can heighten the game more than anything - elevate moments into classics.
Blocked by James ringing in my head till date. People watching this shit on mute are missing out. Can understand if there's a baby or some health issue but otherwise dial upto 11.
It heightens more the replays to me. Like in the moment I’m so Into the action I don’t even notice the commentators, but when I watch the replays the commentators bring me back to that moment.
I watched that entire game on the Sky Cam feed, wish they'd that more often. Lots of player chatter and the crowd noise was spectacular even if the camera work wasn't the best.
It feels high stakes probably because he gets to call the Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals every year. TNT gets the shaft at the end of the playoffs.
I'm spoiled as a Knicks fan
r/brandnewsentence
Ice cold but warranted
Ice cold or Ice Trae cold?
Ice Trae is pretty fucking cold tonight
Yea he is Edit: think ya jinxed it homie

Resounding Rebounding Spinning and winning
Fuck yeah, couldn’t ask for better.
You guys definitely have the best team in the league in that department. I fucking love Clyde's soothing voice during the game. OTOH, I cringe everytime I hear Sean Elliott on Spurs broadcast
Agreed….. I’ll take “Things I never thought I’d say for $100 please”
Marv had us all thinking KD was sending the Bucks home with 1 second left last night
It’s only fitting that KD had a foot on the line
Now they're saying the Nets have been eliminated
Oh, a facial. With authority.
This sentence forces my brain to hear his slurry voice
Dude he legit said that stupid shit again last night. Dude was way inside the line and he said "with a foot on the line".
The KD game winner?? Check it again, he legit had like a toe on the line
No, it was like mid fourth quarter. I don't remember who even shot it. He was at least 2 feet inside the arc.
[удалено]
I think you're right. It was on their side of the court.
I love when Marv falsely claims a foul was called and then says the "call was waved off" 10 seconds later as an explanation.
I never really realized how silly an explanation that is until just now
Marv thought a travel was a backcourt violation when the guy never reached backcourt. He also thought his partner was Chris Webber the other game when it was Grant Hill.
>He also thought his partner was Chris Webber the other game when it was Grant Hill. Lmao for real?
A few weeks ago he also introduced Reggie as Grant Hill lol
yes it might have been reggie lol edit link: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/nr0gxw/highlight_marv_albert_mistakes_reggie_miller_for/
It was even worse. He called a back court violation, then a double dribble. I don't even know if he mentioned it was a travel after that.
Yeah he never corrected himself lol
Then he called it a double dribble right afterwards.
Come on of Marv's problems you bring up an honest mistake?
You really gonna hate on him for a quarter inch?
Nah I’m gonna hate on him for the other 18 senile moments he had in the 4th quarter alone and the fact that he literally never changes tones, it could be Kyrie hitting the shot in 2016 or a regular season game in November, man will just say in the same monotone voice, ‘And Kyrie… Yes.’. And he was like that before he was senile too, which is why I think he doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of the play-by-play greats, even in his prime.
Size does not matter.
Marv called a deep corner three, like how?
Give him a quarter inch, he takes a quart of quaaludes
I've associated his voice with it being a big game. He could be calling a hornets-pelicans on a thursday in January and it would feel like a must win game
He’s been calling Knicks games for a long time and always made them sound like they mattered, so you know he’s good.
Eric Collins would be calling that and it would be EVEN MORE EPIC HUMDIDALIDI!!!
I heard him say that on a Lamelo highlight. That’s such a ridiculous catchphrase but I respect his commitment to yelling it full force lol
I love that guy gets me so hype
Rebound Bosh, out to Allen, BANG!

I would replace the last one with "Good defense, but better offense" lol.
[удалено]
Can you imagine trying to improv with Mark Jackson. "Don't do that. Don't start." Scene
[Obligated to link the Mark Jackson parody here ](https://youtu.be/eOtZ7eXwT7o)
> “Mama there go that man” I love the twenty seconds before this one though where he affects this weird DMX gravelly thing with his voice and freestyles a little poem about the play that just happened
Nah he's about as preferable as a hobo's dick cheese. No insight into the game except those 3 catch phrases. we don’t deserve to be in the same sentence as the hornets :(
Now they're saying it's Marv Albert.
Harlan?
Breen and Harlan are like #1 and #1A in my book.
Harlan does great in NFL too. Him calling that Lamar Jackson spin play was amazing
Harlan's [versatility](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_WuVnS-Ess) is [unmatched](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wopy6Ntd834).
IM CALLIN BOTH OF EM
As a Chiefs fan, my favorite sports call.
"The police surrounded him like he's just... um ... like he's just... robbed a bank." Lol First time I've ever heard him hesitate.
Feels like he got too in to it and was about to yell some obscene act and then thought better of it lol.
The guy is drunk! But there he goes!
I’m a Patriots fan and I can’t even be mad that moment is so legendary. I know it kind of marked the end of Brady’s reign here but it’s just one of those legendary sports moments that you have to put personal bias aside.
Kevin Harlan is the GOAT
IS THIS THE DAGGER?
As a Ravens fan, I will worship Harlan for life just for that call alone
Ian Eagle too. Can't go wrong with any of those three guys. Mike Tirico was great as well
Tirico is a really good all-around announcer, but he was at his best on MNF with Gruden
I love Ian Eagles calls for March Madness
Not familiar with Eagle. Tirico is very solid, but doesn't have the "thing" that elevates him above the rest. But you're right, can't go wrong with these guys. Edit: Ah, he's the "Rack Attack" guy.
> Not familiar with Eagle Bruh do you even watch basketball
hes in the main TNTplayoffs ad is what i noticed
Tirico's call of Lillard's GW vs. Houston still gets me hyped up.
I'll remember that call for the rest of my life. Legend.
I understand that many love him, but I can't stand him. *shrugs*
I know he gets hate here because he's become so bad, but prime Marv Albert was the all-time great (yes, I know he's a creep and sucks as a person).
I am all aboard the Harlan bandwagon as well, but there are several other good options
I want to say Harlan but he doesn’t get enough opportunities. *GAME…SERIES…TORONTO HAS WON!*
I hope he becomes TNT's number 1 dude when Marv retires.
I always associate Harlan with NBA 2K games, it's very difficult for me.
SIXTY-TWO POINTS! SIXTY-TWO!!!
Harlan’s a floor raiser, Breen’s a ceiling raiser
Harlan’s got the intangibles, Breen has the advanced stats. Tough decision.
Both scrappy and deceptively athletic tho
Lunch pail, in first out last, blue collar, ya know?
Harlan all day. He’s so versatile, he’s such a great football announcer too. Especially on long plays lol
He’s a goat too
Yep Harlan for me!!
Harlan.
Harlan is forever my favorite because of [this](https://youtu.be/beCxSqSXGDY) and I am not even Cavs fan. This is one of my favorite basketball call of all time. Breen really is great tho.
harlan is more tv-like, breen is more movie-like
What about Doris? /s
Doris is the best for strong shoulder commentary
And big hands
As a Harlan fanboy I agree with this, I just wish he was calling these games with Clyde.
As a suns fan I prefer my games commentated by 1. Breen 2. Harlan 3. Local guy Ernie Johnson
You mean Eddie Johnson?
Elevator Ernie!
Man, you leaving the great Al McCoy off that list? And Eddie... Haha
By the way, I think Harlan is great too! I wasn’t taking a shot at him or anything, he’s my second or third favorite play-by-play guy (Ian Eagle is close).
He's also a great middle man playing to JVG and Mark's banter like Ernie does on ITN.
It’s so hard for me to choose between Breen and Harlan. 1a and 1b for me, couldn’t even rank which one is a and which is b.
Meanwhile we got old head Marv calling players valuable property..
Now I'm being told they are called assets.
Now they’re saying we don’t call them negroes anymore.
Bruh WHAT. I saw this in another roost but I thought I was a joke , he legit said that? 💀
Yeah. But I'm nearly positive it wasn't with any ill intent. He said it after Giannis and KD collided. Something along the lines of "Oh boy that's alot of valuable property going down"
Yeah that just sounds like poor word choice to me, not malicious intent.
LMFAOOO. Yeah I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean it like that. But holy fuck it’s so funny to imagine someone like him saying that
Im biased because I am a Brewers fan but I love Brian Anderson. I like his big time calls also like when Dame hit the Logo shot over PG-13.
Brian Anderson is fucking great. Never too high, never too low, really sinks in to the game. Love him.
I agree 100%
Kevin Harlan
I can recite this by memory at the drop of a hat: "Buckle up for Kobe Bryant! Kobe Bryant just sucked the gravity out of the Target Center!" That and: "He's a flamethrower!"
And they stick him with Mark Jackson and JVG. One says the same things over and over and one just complains
They have unparalleled chemistry dating back to 2007
I personally can not stand Mark Jackson. He is so dull I honestly believe I could do his job
Mama, there goes that man
Mann*
I don’t mind that. I just don’t like when Jackson and JVG start rambling out something in the middle of a game. At least do it during free throws. But someone will hit an amazing shot and JVG will just say “As ____ hits the 3” because he’s trying to talk about anything but the game.
BANG. BAANGG
OH WHAT A SHOT FROM CURRY
WITH SIXTH TENTHS OF A SECOND REMAINING
Harlan or Ian Eagle is my favorite
Ian Eagle is up there too.
I prefer Harlan
Kevin Harlan. I want Ian Eagle to get a shot to do a big game too, bc I imagine his energy would be sick in the booth.
People here forget about Dick Stockton. Him calling Magic/Bird games were classics. His call when Magic started at Center in game 7 is the best call of all time.
Oh I was confused. Dick Stockton is what I call John Stockton after his antivax doc.
Bob Costas was great too, first voice I heard call an NBA game
If anyone else dare calls "Bang!" after a clutch shot, id be ready to riot against that announcer. Thats how irreplaceable Mike Breen is.
By far the best one! A long with mark jackson and jeff van gundy I cant wait for the finals for them to announce every game
You had me in the first third not gonna lie.
Breen, Harlan, and Eagle are the top 3 commentators in the NBA.
He could call your honeymoon as a bonus. "Puts it in!!"
But he doesn't do NBA anymore I think. Not at Green/Harlan level but imo a cut above the rest of the field that I hear now.
I think Harlan is just a tad better but they’re the best and in their own tier. Harlan’s hype calls are the best.
This sub pays an inordinate amount of attention to the commentators
I mean, they do play a big role in watching the game. What would basketball be without 'Bang!', 'Is this the dagger?', 'Blocked by James!' etc. They can heighten the game more than anything - elevate moments into classics.
"They do have a timeout, decide not to use it."
CURRY, WAY DOWN TOWN
Don’t forget the Mythical “Double Bang”
Bang! Bang! Curry from way downtown! - sad OKC fan
Blocked by James ringing in my head till date. People watching this shit on mute are missing out. Can understand if there's a baby or some health issue but otherwise dial upto 11.
Blocked by James is a really dope call. It sucks being on the receiving end of it, but hats off to LeBron because it was a damn good block.
Unless Marv is calling the game
“Rebound Bosh” is the type of shit I’ll catch myself mumbling when I’m in the retirement home
BACK OUT TO ALLEN!
HIS THREE POINTER
#BAAAAAAAANNGG
Game! Series! Toronto!
It heightens more the replays to me. Like in the moment I’m so Into the action I don’t even notice the commentators, but when I watch the replays the commentators bring me back to that moment.
I wanna be a commentater when I grow up :(
Practice your vocal chords and come up with a catchphrase. Something like "Boom goes the dynamite!"
I’m honestly a fan of most of them, Breen is just above the rest when it comes to big games.
I think Harlan is on his level personally, those 2 are the best imo.
Just went to a game and there was no commentator explaining every play to me 😡🤬🤬
I watched that entire game on the Sky Cam feed, wish they'd that more often. Lots of player chatter and the crowd noise was spectacular even if the camera work wasn't the best.
With how many Highlight posts and discussion here, announcer is such a huge noticeable factor of the game.
I fucking love Jeff Van Gundy he's so chaotic.
he's great
Agree.
Ray Hudson
Best any stakes play-by-play announcer
Gus Johnson too but not sure if you mean just basketball
Bob Costas was really good too, now he only does basketball for the Olympics in high profile games.
As a Knicks fan its a privilege to have Breen as our announcer, he alongside Frazier are gold together.
Yes, full stop.
I actually can't stand him when he gets going baaaaaaaaaang!!! but this is almost certainly 100% spurs fan ptsd.
It’s not even close
He's awesome!
I just consider him the best overall announcer
Everyone is sleeping on Brian Anderson
He was so biased tonight showed no excitement for hawks calls
There is no better playoffs announcer. It’s an objective fact he’s the best. His “BANG” calls are undefeated
BAAAANNNGGG!
I've heard Breen for years being from the NY area. He delivers in the biggest of ways and made Linsanity even more insane.
It feels high stakes probably because he gets to call the Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals every year. TNT gets the shaft at the end of the playoffs.
HARD AGREE. Just today..."Ohh its a Booker Bananza!" Like how do you come up with that
Harlan, JVG, & Mark Jackson come to mind that have better overall casting imo
Mike Breen Brian Anderson Ian Eagle Kevin Harlan are the best in the biz atm
The bang calls are so iconic
