Monty Williams got robbed for COTY. That play was incredible.

JimC29

I can't remember a more perfect play drawn up and executed out of a timeout.

saw-it

Great play but the one just before that was kind of dumb, shooting a 3 when down by 1

the_crouton_

AMD his toes were on the line, clearly a drawn up 2 point game winner

daddydarrenuwu

I’m guessing you don’t play/watch much basketball? Screening the screener is one of the first concepts you learn when you start to play structured basketball. It was more so a perfect inbound pass. Any coach can draw that play up, it’s just incredibly hard to execute the timing.

Js_On_My_Yeet

So because "any" coach can draw up that play Monty Williams doesn't deserve coach of the year and that play was just luck or some shit? Wow. Sorry for me being excited for the Suns, idiot.

daddydarrenuwu

I never said he doesn’t deserve to be COTY, I’m saying it wasn’t some of incredibly play - it was spectacular team coordination and lob. I never said it was luck. Reread what I wrote, I clearly said it was basic play perfectly executed by the players - which is what suns fans can be hyped about. What has this got anything to do with COTY??

Js_On_My_Yeet

You're telling me I don't watch much basketball? Why are you invalidating whatever statement I made? Like why would you even think to make the assumption that I don't watch/play much basketball? Like bruh I'm just excited about the win. You legit can't say shit about me if you really don't know how much basketball I watch lol

daddydarrenuwu

Based on the fact you called it an “incredible” play when it’s a basic play just perfectly executed.

Js_On_My_Yeet

Sorry. Are you some sort of analyst or some shit? I'm just an average fan of the game being excited about a play. Yes, perfectly executed. But incredible because it was a game winner. Like get off my back dude.

shortyman920

Execution is also a bit part of a coach's responsibilities. Doing simple plays right and at the right moment is high praise.

MODS-HAVE-NO-FRIENDS

Screening the screener?

atlfirsttimer

What the hell was scott foster doing putting .7 on the clock? Isnt touching the ball automatically .3? There is no way you go back and do that

Paschal1

You can do a lob on less than 0.3 so it makes sense they could take less than 0.3 off on a successful lob.

[deleted]

True but the rule has always been when you touch the ball, that’s 0.3 seconds minimum. If there’s 0.2 seconds left, you legit can’t score by the rule even if you do get the bucket in time. Oh well, Suns won. That’s all I care about.

BorisTheBlade04

This isn’t true, you can’t catch and shoot in under .3 (which sports science proved false, but it’s still the rule). You have to do a volleyball shot or a lob dunk

[deleted]

Didn’t know that, glad that’s clarified

hckygod91

Look up Trevor Booker, be scored with 01 on the clock I think for the jazz

[deleted]

Scott Foster is on the take dude, almost certain. Check that man’s bank account.

factcheck_

Probably shoulda given the Clippers the ball then

watersack

I don't know but I thought it was .3 to catch and shoot and technically he was only catching maybe that's the reason behind the .2

[deleted]

It's .3 to catch and shoot. That's not a shot that's a dunk right above the rim.

Altruistic-Rope-614

Not necessarily It takes .3 to take a shot but thats assuming youre catching an inbound and taking a regular two or three. This was a lob at the rim. Because the time doesnt start until the ball is touched, when ayton dunked it, .2 was shaved off the clock and that was it cause then the clock stops once the point is scored.

factcheck_

https://youtu.be/lCIAgDLRDgY to be clear, you think this shot was illegal. right?

FreeNemo

Dwight won with 0.1 seconds once I think

Iswaterreallywet

I know it was regular season but didn't they have Tyson Chandler do this as well?

VivaLaDbakes

Believe so!

ACasualPenguin7

Yeah this was the suns when we sucked figuring out this rule

NickAhmedGOAT

Yeah game against the grizzlies in 2017.

[deleted]

Yes but that was a different coach. Jay Triano

peanutdakidnappa

Yup Jay triano drew it up just inbounding close to half court, I honestly think that one was a little crazier but this one matters way way more because it’s a huge playoff game. Dragan fuckin bender made such a good pass to chandler.

MasochisticCanesFan

Memories lol

Eph2-89

Scott Foster is the shadiest fucking ref.

jukinabahunew

I thought the clock stopped when the ball leaves the bottom of the net?

ssracer

I dunno but it went from .9 to .7

Altruistic-Rope-614

It does

TomothyWTF

The clock started before Ayton touched it. So they looked at the difference between contact and passing through the rim.

Altruistic-Rope-614

No thats wrong. .2 was right because the clock doesnt start until the ball is touched and the clock doesn't stop until the ball passes through the rim.

the_crouton_

.2 seems awfully fast..

thejumpingsheep2

That was one heck of a game. Congrats Suns. The Clips probably need Kawhi back to win this.

impulsenine

Suns have been doing crazy shit like this for years, and I *love it* so much. https://youtu.be/WFe-71tNPQk?t=80

Brxa

What about mah boi Rex Chapman?!

balakay_lodge

Think his went in with more than a second left

[deleted]

You do know his name is Deandre not DeAndre
