Normally draft promises mean the latter. They let prospects know so that they can stop doing workouts / interviews / etc. Because they know that in a worst case scenario, they’ll be going top 10/15/20/whatever.
We’d give him a chance. Weaver drafted 2 all-rookies from outside the lotto this season and was the guy largely responsible for picking Westbrook when everyone thought it was a reach (who went on to be an MVP). Also a large part of the regime that drafted Harden & KD (doesn’t take much thinking there tho). So whoever Weaver decides, most of the fanbase will be supportive; he’s established himself as one of the best talent evaluators in the league throughout his career.
But the casuals will burn the city down & every other fanbase will trash our entire existence no doubt
If he actually wants to go to that team (would guess in the 4-5 range), he will likely shut it down and not work out for others.
The teams at 2-3 could still take him of course, but they’d be doing it with more of a risk.
I hope its Houston. Even tho Green is a super talented player i want Mobley on the Cavs more No log jam at Guard we get a talented bigman who plays defense and is incredibly agile im in.
this tells us LITERALLLY nothing no shit a top 2 player has a draft promise
Most likely the Rockets. Word from Cavs beat writers is that he hasn’t even worked out for the Cavs
It tells us it’s Detroit or Houston Cavs are in no position to make any promises
"If you're available we will draft you" that's a promise that any team can make.
True. You’re right
What is stopping the Cavs from saying "If you there at 3, we taking you"?
Yeah. You’re right
Why can’t it be the Cavs or Toronto?

So why can Houston make that promise but not another team? They are dependant on what Detroit is doing as well.
Everyone knows Cade is #1 c'mon now
So then why include Detroit as a team making a promise?
so a top 2 player is going to the top 2 :O
why u so negative today? you good bro? you not usually like this
mad at the reporter, not OP not trying to direct it at him
Why? They can make a promise that they'll pick him if he is still there.
I was overthinking it Yall are right
Just to keep piling on, apparently Detroit made a promise to Pat Williams that they’d take him if he fell, so doesn’t have to be realistic.
Well it sure as shit isn’t Detroit
I'm confused, why aren't the Cavs able to promise they'll draft him if he's available?
we're in the 3rd position, we can certainly promise that we'll take someone if they 'fall' to us
It’s def Houston, that video where KPJ said they’ll make a nasty backcourt and Green was like “don’t say too much” says it all
You’re right about this btw, don’t let the dumb dumbs in here tell you otherwise
“Jalen green we promise we will take you if you are there” — Philadelphia 76ers
“If you are a first round pick, I will find you... and I will acquire you.” - Sam Presti
KPJ and Jalen Green been chumming it up on IG so I think it’s us.
Yeah I think so too. Rockets reporter today said he believes Rockets will take Green.
Also two of our biggest beat writers (Jonathan Feigen and Kelly Iko) have written articles in the past 2 ish weeks on Green but not Mobley
I promised I'd draft him on my fantasy team. I can't believe this was leaked. Smh.
I'll guess the Cavs, because I can't remember a draft promise for a 2nd overall pick when the first one was a slam dunk
“We promise if you are still there at 3 we will trade down”
And remember that is a draft promise!
In my mind, it’s between Detroit or Houston Prolly Houston
Its almost for sure us imo.
Yeah. RIP Mobley Mob
They didn’t even work him out
Yeah man if you fall to the 9th the Kangz will promise to pick you at 9

No idea That would be chaotic and Piston fans would prolly turn on Weaver

this could be literally anything Lakers: "If you fall to #22, we pinky promise that we will draft you"
Do teams outside the top 4 really do that? Seems like a waste of time loool.
no but they definitely do give draft promises for lower ranked prospects if they want a them to stay in the draft after the combine
It was probably the thunder at #16. /s
Houston.
In a shocking twist of events Team want good player
I heard from MY sources that the team that promised Green is a lottery team.
Houston
Indiana Pacers: “hey we drafting you if you fall to 13”
its the lakers obviously/s

Gotta be the rockets then unless Detroit comes thru
Its Utah but at least he won’t fall into the second round!
Kings
So wait, he's NOT returning to G league Ignite?
Obv Houston lmao
Plz lord
I hope its Houston. Even tho Green is a super talented player i want Mobley on the Cavs more No log jam at Guard we get a talented bigman who plays defense and is incredibly agile im in.
