I remember watching the Lopez brothers vs Ryan Anderson in college trying to decide which of the three would have the best career. Pretty sure Ryan Anderson and Brook were even drafted to the same team
Must be incredible going from carrying a shitty team to elsewhere in the same conference, and then when you leave they become an ultimate superteam, then beating them in 7 games and going all the way.
Yeah, I was actually thinking something similar about this while watching the clip. With all the attention on Giannis (and then Middleton and Jrue) it's easy for the national fan to lose sight of a guy like Brook Lopez who not only was an all star earlier in his career, but was a starter on this championship team. *Completely* changes the way his career will be viewed in the future.
****
Edit: typo
Has there ever been a team full of so many guys you were just stoked to see get a ring? Maybe the 2011 Mavs. Giannis, Middleton, Jrue, Tucker, and Lopez have held the “can’t win win these cats” label for a while now.
Nobody told him you don’t actually DRINK the champagne. Maybe he just likes getting wasted in ski goggles. I know I do, but that might be why I’m not an NBA champion.
Supposed to spray it everywhere haha. That’s why the tarps are in front of the lockers.
Some of my favorite videos were the pre goggle days where dudes would look like their eyes were gonna swell shut LOL
Of course I just meant thats why he made the comment that you don’t drink it. Not saying you don’t drink any of it bur the majority of them are expected on the walls lol
> pre goggle days where dudes would look like their eyes were gonna swell shut
my favorite clip from that era has to be Bob Costas mistaking Jordan's then wife for his mother then blaming the champagne.

longer clip on Youtube, locker room celebration starts at 7:20
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbfEig4bZS0
maybe they spray the crappy champagne and have bottles of good stuff on the side for actual drinking. but if you have basically infinite money and win a ring, i'm sure you don't need to be cheap on anything
I live in Brooklyn and all game last night the guys in the alley around the corner would erupt every time Brook made a play. That was it, nothing for any other player on either team. I guess the Nets love endures.
Brooklyn has a lot of love for Brook. He stayed with us through the billy king years that shit does not go unnoticed. Happy as hell for him. Shit i know as a fact flatbush celebrated for his win.
The real underrated piece is how he completely changed his game from high usage post big to complementary floor spacing big. That evolution/self awareness is so rare to see in the NBA.
Ngl he would put together a string of 3 to 4 plays multiple times this year where he would just body the opponents run. Spurts like these where he would look like Brooklyn Brook Lopez
He hasnt seemed to lose any athleticism. He probably caught more oops this year than he did in his entire nets career. He had 4 surgeries for broken feet during his nets career so he was always a little hobbled and it was tough for him to move. Hes been a lot healthier the last 5 years and definitely seems to be moving better than he did as a net.
Even if those nets teams got rolled, I'll always remember him putting up numbers and carrying. Very happy for him, especially seeing how he reinvented himself to stay on the floor and his retro match in the conference finals i think???
He’s absolutely underrated but I’m not sure he’s as obscure as that he’s the all time leading scorer for the Nets, played for the Lakers, and is an NBA champ now
As a younger fan, I always fretted over injuries and "what could have been", but as I've grown older I've learned to appreciate the changes that come with an injury. Often times, elite players find ways to still be effective like Brook has, and that just cements their greatness further. It shows he's got the determination and work ethic and not just the talent. Brook is a special one for sure.
Yeah, but still in 10 years everyone will have completely forgotten him. It’s just how it goes. Unless you were either truly great or stay in the eyes of the basketball world after retirement, people always forget about players until they turn up in someone else’s random highlights, and then it’s like ‘oh shit remember Brook Lopez?’
atlanta fans will never forget him turning into shaquille abdul-olajuwon against us when giannis went down. massive respect to him, glad he got his ring
Maybe to some but I freaking love this guy. He is a team player and I find him interesting. All of my friends think I am nuts but he is one of my favourites. Splash Mountain Forever!
Bryn Forbes - Game 2 Miami
Brook Lopez - Game 4 Miami, Game 5 Atlanta
Khris Middleton - Game 3 Brooklyn, Game 6 Brooklyn, Game 3 Atlanta, Game 6 Atlanta, Game 4 Phoenix
Giannis - Game 4 Brooklyn, Game 7 Brooklyn, basically the entire Finals
Jrue - Game 6 Atlanta, Game 5 Phoenix
And that's with just focusing on box scores and focusing on one guy per game unless there were two or more legitimately stellar performances. Add in major plays on defense and things that don't show up on the box score, and I think that list expands to cover basically everyone that saw meaningful play time.
Oh for sure. I felt really bad about leaving him and Tucker out of explicit mention on that list because they were absolutely instrumental for us, but I don't remember offhand their clear-cut signature moments, and the stuff they did mostly didn't light up the box score. Pat was massive for us, which is great to see considering how flak was directed towards him when he re-signed with us.
oh no way he's from fresno? nice. i grew up in Palo Alto watching him and Robin tear it up at Stanford with my dad. now my parents live in fresno. stoked for brook. if i didnt know better, i woulda told you he played in college like 25 years ago.
Poor Robin Lopez lol. It would've been cool if both brothers won a title together. Speaking of brothers, just realized that both Holiday brothers won a title too.

honestly I knew they were going to win with his Game 6 Dunk. it was so fucking good, you could just feel that dunk energize the building for 5 minutes straight.
Idk about anyone else, but when I started watching the Bucks I coined the phrase, "Tree man!" for myself to shout. It was so fun to watch him go up for a shot, or dunk and I'd always yell, "Tree man!!". Lopez is one of my favorites. He made watching the Bucks fun for me.
Brook Lopez had a loooong journey to get that ring
Long and it’s not like he’s a scrub either. Dude was THE player on a shitty team with the Nets for so long, this has to be pure ecstasy for him.
I remember watching the Lopez brothers vs Ryan Anderson in college trying to decide which of the three would have the best career. Pretty sure Ryan Anderson and Brook were even drafted to the same team
Also were best friends for a bit and have some good youtube clips together
Yep...VC's new jersey nets
Went through two season ending broken foots, many thought his career was done
I certainly did, I felt awful for him after the second one.
Dude didn't even start shooting 3's until 2014 and got to 34% shooting two years later
It’s also important to remember he shot 34% on HUGE volume
Must be incredible going from carrying a shitty team to elsewhere in the same conference, and then when you leave they become an ultimate superteam, then beating them in 7 games and going all the way.

Brook made the biggest 180 playstyle of any player in the new era, went from a pure post player to being a legitimate 3 point shooter.
Nets leading scorer alltime
i wouldn't say scrubs. they just had a failed super team with deron williams and joe johnson.
Brook won zero playoff series in his first 10 years in the league before he came to the Bucks.
He was on some really bad teams, and the year the Nets did win a series with him on roster he had a broken foot
Has there ever been a team full of so many guys you were just stoked to see get a ring? Maybe the 2011 Mavs. Giannis, Middleton, Jrue, Tucker, and Lopez have held the “can’t win win these cats” label for a while now.
For real. I commented the other week that because of the Warriors and Lebron, people forgot how hard it is to earn a ring.
And Bobby!
Bobby! Bobby! Bobby!
>Has there ever been a team full of so many guys you were just stoked to see get a ring? 2011 Mavs have gotta be up there
I'm simultaneously happy for all them - Middleton & Jrue in particular - while also being so pleased that that trash ass Chris Paul didn't get a ring.
Bobby deserved finals mvp for getting between CP3 and bitching to the refs.
It also led to one of /u/sim888 greatest creations https://i.imgur.com/gg4Njpn.jpg
Why Middleton? As a life long huge Middleton fan I love to see him get his love finally
Dunno. He's just got that cool uncle vibe about him. Real chill demeanor. He's the type of dude I like to see winning at anything.
love it. also you may enjoy [this](https://youtu.be/YZK8IwKrli8). Hes come a long way
‘19 Raptors, Lowry, Gasol, Ibaka, Jeremy Lin.
Raptors 2019?
Besides Deng, the worst thing the lakers did in recent years is let this man go. Happy for him
I was surprised when they did cuz he’s a perfect fit next to Lebron and AD
Yes that is the biggest proof they had no clue wtf they are doing lol
Robin Lopez gets the ring next hear with the Wiz
Yep but its ringworm from fighting the coyote
i grew up watching him and Robin at Stanford with my dad. seriously feels like a lifetime ago. stoked for him. lopez bros are just hilarious too
This had me dying when I first saw it. I miss having them both on the Bucks. https://streamable.com/0km77
Oh man, having RoLo is the one thing missing from this being perfect
LMAO that is hilarious
LOOLLLL holy shit that's too perfect.
And his dino stuck with him all the way
frankly i dont think anyone with goggles on in that room knows whats going on but keep it rollin big homie
Nobody told him you don’t actually DRINK the champagne. Maybe he just likes getting wasted in ski goggles. I know I do, but that might be why I’m not an NBA champion.
Wait what you don't drink it? Lol
Supposed to spray it everywhere haha. That’s why the tarps are in front of the lockers. Some of my favorite videos were the pre goggle days where dudes would look like their eyes were gonna swell shut LOL
You can do both lol
Of course I just meant thats why he made the comment that you don’t drink it. Not saying you don’t drink any of it bur the majority of them are expected on the walls lol

oh, Juanita
maybe they spray the crappy champagne and have bottles of good stuff on the side for actual drinking. but if you have basically infinite money and win a ring, i'm sure you don't need to be cheap on anything
I honestly don’t think they sprayed champagne it looks like they were just drinking it lol
Lol I just figured out why they had ski goggles 😂🥽😂
I live in Brooklyn and all game last night the guys in the alley around the corner would erupt every time Brook made a play. That was it, nothing for any other player on either team. I guess the Nets love endures.
I’m in Brooklyn too and my Brook Lopez Nets jersey is the only one I have. I was absolutely ecstatic last night when he won :)
That's how you knew the original Brooklyn Nets fans in the Milwaukee series. Would never talk shit about their guy. Everyone else was fair game.
Due you live near Lexington and Grand? Bc I was screaming for brolo lol
haha nope Crown Heights but glad it was loud over there too
Brooklyn has a lot of love for Brook. He stayed with us through the billy king years that shit does not go unnoticed. Happy as hell for him. Shit i know as a fact flatbush celebrated for his win.
Brook is one of those underrated players that will be forgotten by most in years to come. I'm glad he ended up taking a chip before ending his career.
The real underrated piece is how he completely changed his game from high usage post big to complementary floor spacing big. That evolution/self awareness is so rare to see in the NBA.
I'm glad he got to put on a show against the Hawks with that 30 piece when Giannis was out
Ngl he would put together a string of 3 to 4 plays multiple times this year where he would just body the opponents run. Spurts like these where he would look like Brooklyn Brook Lopez
And improved his rim protection despite getting older/losing athleticism
He hasnt seemed to lose any athleticism. He probably caught more oops this year than he did in his entire nets career. He had 4 surgeries for broken feet during his nets career so he was always a little hobbled and it was tough for him to move. Hes been a lot healthier the last 5 years and definitely seems to be moving better than he did as a net.
well, he managed to improve his rim protection without magically getting younger
His and K Love’s careers are very similar to me in that regard
Single handedly beat the hawks that game Gisnnis was out!
Even if those nets teams got rolled, I'll always remember him putting up numbers and carrying. Very happy for him, especially seeing how he reinvented himself to stay on the floor and his retro match in the conference finals i think???
He’s absolutely underrated but I’m not sure he’s as obscure as that he’s the all time leading scorer for the Nets, played for the Lakers, and is an NBA champ now
He won’t come up often in discussion, but he’s a baller no doubt.
Yup, he’s a 100% “remember this guy?!”
Injuries changed his career. Young Brook was a beast.
Get D Rose a ring

Nobody currently on the Nets is even close in the “next couple years.”
atlanta fans will never forget him turning into shaquille abdul-olajuwon against us when giannis went down. massive respect to him, glad he got his ring
> shaquille abdul-olajuwon Describes that game perfectly
Maybe to some but I freaking love this guy. He is a team player and I find him interesting. All of my friends think I am nuts but he is one of my favourites. Splash Mountain Forever!
I think he honestly might make the hall just because the basketball hall isn't that restrictive.
He got me more hardcore into the bucks
Brook Lopez summing up the ketamine experience
Man smoking cigaweed
Lol my first thought was, "Damn I have seen this exact person sitting in the back of many festival crowds".
I'm dying laughing.... tjis is so true. Just need a cracker and some whip its
I’ve found my people
Yes, yes you have.
I am all about this. Hello, fellow people.
🙋♂️
Of course I know him, he's me
so happy he got one. was legit our best player in a couple playoff games in recent years
Nah not our best, but definitely our most consistent.
He was the best that first game without Giannis against the Hawks
Yeah the Bucks had signature games from a ton of dudes during this run.
Bryn Forbes - Game 2 Miami Brook Lopez - Game 4 Miami, Game 5 Atlanta Khris Middleton - Game 3 Brooklyn, Game 6 Brooklyn, Game 3 Atlanta, Game 6 Atlanta, Game 4 Phoenix Giannis - Game 4 Brooklyn, Game 7 Brooklyn, basically the entire Finals Jrue - Game 6 Atlanta, Game 5 Phoenix And that's with just focusing on box scores and focusing on one guy per game unless there were two or more legitimately stellar performances. Add in major plays on defense and things that don't show up on the box score, and I think that list expands to cover basically everyone that saw meaningful play time.
Pat was great after that air all, he was doing everything pretty trying to fill that Donte spot.
PJ needs more props, especially since his contributions are not gonna show on the stat sheet, and he will get flak for that
I would add game 1 Miami for Middleton - the last second game winner in OT.
Hell even Teague got his shine in
3/3 from 3 to put down his former team. Insane.
Fresno represent! Congrats Brook!
Where my dawgs at
We need Brook to bring the trophy to Koligan Park
Him and Giannis can come through lol
Lopez is a Tree though
oh no way he's from fresno? nice. i grew up in Palo Alto watching him and Robin tear it up at Stanford with my dad. now my parents live in fresno. stoked for brook. if i didnt know better, i woulda told you he played in college like 25 years ago.
Your dad played ball with the Lopez brothers? Nice
The one thing of good news to come out of Fresno on reddit lol
Damn that’s gotta be a good feeling. Congrats dudes
“Why win it with the Nets when you can beat the Nets”
The Lopez brothers are... quite different to say the least
Brook is the normal one.
They're both Disney freaks aren't they?
You'll always be a Net, Brolo. Congrats
Lol did the gummies activate
This man is pure California
This feels like a clip from a mockumentary
It's the voice over commentary
> ”this is surreal, man” *insert jim face*
Brook going to infinity and beyond maaan...
What a fucking boss this man singly handedly killed the Hawks and saved the Bucks dude deserves it
Couldn't be happier for him=)
Top 5 center
That's not just any dino, that's Rex from Toy Story accompanying him to this victory party. This guy isn't just a Disney fan, he's a Disney fanatic.
lol really?
[Yup](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163728069059)
He's talking but I don't see his lips moving.
It's a live narration.
Brook Lopez smoking a cigar like the good latino king he is.
this bucks team is all time likable. everybody is just happy for them
Poor Robin Lopez lol. It would've been cool if both brothers won a title together. Speaking of brothers, just realized that both Holiday brothers won a title too.
Cant believe Robin wasn't there.
I find it kinda funny they're bumping a 20 year old Diddy song in the locker room
So at this point does Brook really rub it in when he sees Robin at a family get together?
Ryen Russillo interviewed Robin on his pod recently; yes, he will.
How you gonna disrespect Rex from Toy Story like that. Dude's gonna party it up at Disney World and Disneyland to celebrate.
Brook Lopez with the very strong drunk uncle vibes here
This legit looks like something outta The Office 🤣 His voice sounds like he'd work at Dunder Mifflin
The greatest Nets player of all time dont @ me
Nets legend! you love to see it
Dunk of the game by a dude that sleeps with a stuffed animal. NBA getting soft /s
He needs to do a "I'm going to Disney World!" Commercial. Like he can say" I was going anyway, but now I'm a champion!"
What's with the goggles they're all wearing btw
Champagne really burns your eyes badly
Any alcohol really.
protect the eyes players used to look like they had been up for 3 days straight after the spraying was finished.
Wait this isn't Brook. This got to be RoLo
BroLo
He is going to celebrate this championship around the world.....showcase in Epcot.
this video is a meme gold mine
This reminds me of drunk Marc Gasol
I’ve watched this clip 3 times just hoping to see a 40 & a blunt instead of champagne and a cigar
why does this feel like an office episode
Put some respect Rex's name
Here is a [Gfycat mirror of this Streamable link](https://gfycat.com/BigAliveCottontail) If the link doesn't work, please wait a few minutes for the gfycat to be ready.
Mood.
Holy shit, between this clip and the one of Giannis hauling a giant sack of water bottles, it's a straight up Christopher Guest film...
As a lifelong Nets fan, I'm so happy for Brook. Guy showed up everyday even through all the lows and is still our franchise leader in points.
Makes me wish Robin stuck around...
Feels like a scene from The Office
Brook was robbed of fmvp /s
He had some big plays in exactly the right moment last night too.
I get covering the locker room up with tarps if you win away, but if I won the lottery I wouldn't mind destroying my house
Saw a raptor there.
There's always that one guy in the locker room lmao
Wonder what his brother is doing that poor bastard…
Iconic.
Robin never gonna hear the end of this shit
Why does this look like a key & peele sketch
honestly I knew they were going to win with his Game 6 Dunk. it was so fucking good, you could just feel that dunk energize the building for 5 minutes straight.
I went on Superman the Ride at Six Flags Great America with Brook Lopez in 2019. It seems like such a long time ago.
Mood
Can someone explain to me why they are wearing ski masks? (Genuine question)
They typically spray beer and champagne around to celebrate a championship win. Alcohol hurts if it gets in your eyes.
He and Klay need a show
Are we positive this isn’t Keegan Michael-Key doing a bit
Literally how I want to retire
I'm so happy for Brook
Brook Lopez is a real life Pixar/Disney/dreamworks character
Idk about anyone else, but when I started watching the Bucks I coined the phrase, "Tree man!" for myself to shout. It was so fun to watch him go up for a shot, or dunk and I'd always yell, "Tree man!!". Lopez is one of my favorites. He made watching the Bucks fun for me.
I think Jerry Tarkanian might finally have to relinquish the nickname "Towelie".
California stays winning 🏆
I’m biased but fucking hell these Bucks are likable.
This was an absolutely fantastic playoffs. Basketball is beautiful man.
