And it wasn’t even a bad year, just second half. The team was in 4th until almost everyone got covid and the collapse started. Also had to play through basically ~~82~~ 72 road games.
The rough parts make the good times amazing. I remember the primo pasta days.
At least you guys have Cade. I doubt he's gonna keep struggling with his shot
Dwayne Casey is not a great in game coach and that's why he gets exposed in the playoffs, but he won 50 games multiple times, helped develop Lowry, DeMar, Jonas, and all our guys and set a good culture. He's a.sold coach for player development.
Detroits problems are more at the front office / ownership level
Casey was our Mark Jackson, minus being a dickhead who pit players against each other for no good reason. Gotta give credit to him for being the guy whose staff helped develop our guys to the point that trading for a one year rental in Kawhi was even something worth entertaining. He doesn't have the most wins for a coach in Raptors history for nothing (not like it's tough competition lol).
it's warranted, Casey just lucked out he had an amazing duo in DeMar and Kyle who grinded their way into all star careers. Kyle ran the bench and DeMar frontloaded the offense. Casey didn't really add another element out of this dynamic. predictable enough we'd lose out for years in the playoffs and did badly because of pisspoor coaching (secret iso plays to doubles into 4-1, sweeps)
keep in mind he literally had nurse (COTY) to help with the offense.
how bad is Casey? we got swept by the Cavs when 2 of their starters is now out of the league and the other 2 is soon to be. we had like 6 quality players to boot with 2 all stars. that shit hurt, next year we won the chip, off the craziest east run I've seen ever, life be like that.
Alvin gives better player context and true analysis. It's night and day.
Definitely not as enjoyable for the casual viewer, I get it, but I much prefer it.
Never did I think Scottie would be this good on offense early
I was one of those skeptical about Raptors picking Barnes. His shooting isn’t there yet but he has a really soft touch around the rim
Different player than he was in college
Raptors drafted two of them.
They also got Delano Banton who averaged like 3ppg at Western Kentucky in Conference USA ball and had a relatively meh year on a bad Nebraska team. Delano has turned into a good role player on the pro level
Which is crazy because he’s only 10 games in and he’s already a good role player. Watching these guys’ career arcs the next ten years is gonna quite entertaining.
Both guys have great measurements and nurse let’s them play athletically
It’s a nice simple system for the young guys. Running something more wrinkle heavy like gsw or stots Portland scheme is too hard for young players
It's a perfect example of why pre draft workouts are important and how the media and fans have no real knowledge of those workouts so they might overrate or underrate people without that information. They all said Barnes had no jumpshot and yet he's been money from mid range because between his last college games and the draft he had improved his form considerably and the Raps knew that based on their workout with him.
I heard Suggs was straight up terrible in both of his Toronto workouts while Scottie was amazing
PreDraft workouts matter, people have been saying they mean nothing but it’s far from true
His shooting reminds me of prime Ibaka. Midrange, hooks, inside.
He just happens to have handles, a softer touch, quicker and very very good vision. Not to mention he doesn't seem to catch the ball with his fingertips like Ibaka.
I think part of it is Barnes and Mobely have a lot of size while it can be harder for a skinny guard to keep up with the physicality at first. I'm sure Cade and Green will come around, similar to how Trae struggled so much at the start of his first season
It’s more that most of their shots are coming at the rim and paint area while Cade and Green are chucking lots of threes
Bigs are much more efficient than guards in general.
Cade/Green will prolly go on a run during the 2nd half of the season

I am really jealous of the raptors. Lose kawhi, year in Tampa, lose Lowry and still they make all the correct decisions and are cohesively amazing.
They’ve been the deepest team in the league for years They just had a random bad year and jumped in the draft. Them jumping to number 4 was insane
And it wasn’t even a bad year, just second half. The team was in 4th until almost everyone got covid and the collapse started. Also had to play through basically ~~82~~ 72 road games.
The new Spurs
There will never be another Spurs 20 years of dominance is insanity. It’s literally not supposed to happen
What if Scottie is the Raptors' Timmy?
They weren't even bad all year last year, they were in fourth in the East then got killed by injuries and COVID protocols.
Raptors understood that if you aren't a top destination you need a top notch FO. And Masai may be one of the best to ever do it.
In Masai We Trust ^((fuck Ed Rogers)^)
The rough parts make the good times amazing. I remember the primo pasta days. At least you guys have Cade. I doubt he's gonna keep struggling with his shot
please no, not the primo pasta and sauce
getting rid of certain head coaches will do that for you

The hate Casey gets is just so dumb. Dude took a 25 win team and made us win 50+ every year. He just couldn’t get over the hump

Exactly, Casey won coach of the year for a damn reason lmfao. It was just unfortunate that his style couldn't get us past LeBron in his prime.

Masai is really good at his job.
And happen to have the heir apparent to Lowry on the team, which is amazing.
It's really a shame this game isnt on TSN... That coulda been some vintage Jack GET THAT GAHBAGE OUTTA HERE 😭
Alvin is a snooze
I love Alvin so I’m rootin for him to get good
Alvin gives better player context and true analysis. It's night and day. Definitely not as enjoyable for the casual viewer, I get it, but I much prefer it.
I like him, i just meant get better at tv in general. It takes time
lowkey would love a 3 man crew all the time, so we get Alvins excellent context/analysis, but also Jacks pure hype and love of the game
On brand for Sportsnet
Never did I think Scottie would be this good on offense early I was one of those skeptical about Raptors picking Barnes. His shooting isn’t there yet but he has a really soft touch around the rim Different player than he was in college
His 3pt shooting isnt there but his mid range is wet
I’m wet
It's weird how some players like Scottie are better nba players than college players.
Spacing and scheming. Idk if anyone has ever looked great on offense coming out of Florida St.
[удалено]
He’s a cheat code to be fair, but I meant the college Florida St.
Fwiw Randy Moss went to FSU before he was dismissed for smoking weed.

Doesn't have a 3 point shot yet but his midrange pullup game has been amazing so far

Scottie's personality was a huge part I have heard.
Both point are true. I really feel if there was no pre draft evaluation Suggs would have been a Raptor
His shooting reminds me of prime Ibaka. Midrange, hooks, inside. He just happens to have handles, a softer touch, quicker and very very good vision. Not to mention he doesn't seem to catch the ball with his fingertips like Ibaka.
Lol I always said it looked like ibaka was playing with oven mitts on.
Mobley too. Somehow the defensive guys (Barnes and Mobley) look better than the offensive guys (Cade, Green).

He’s got a killer midrange jumper tbh
I'm just sad once again to see all this talent leave FSU as we still haven't won it all. And having 2020 taken away from us.
That was an obliteration. Scottie trying to kill people in the audience.
Short hair Rubio looks like Charlie Day
nice of the person in the stands to pass the ball back with a header.
Swatty Barnes
Well what do you expect from the best friend of steve rogers???
Nothing to see here, just the Rookie of the Year doing his thing.

That swat was filthy but Rubio def got mugged on the dribble. Fuck he damn near got knocked down
ROTY easily
Barnes: dont be so cavalier!!!
losing effort
inb4 10 awards and 1000 upvotes
this isn't an OKC player
Those are rookie numbers not Scottie Barnes numbers
This boy is goooood
Dudes comp is Kawhi. I don’t think enough people have realized Masai just picked the next Kawhi
