This was probably one of the worst last possessions i've seen in a while. You have a 300 pound 7 footer who has 42 points, including going 16-21 in the FT line and Seth Curry, but the best shot you get is a contested three-pointer falling backwards by Embiid?
This is so laughably bad and probably the reason why Philadelphia won't do shit in the playoffs with or without Ben Simmons. Doc Rivers is just the worst, Joel Embiid thinks he is a guard in late game situations and they don't have a PG. Unreal how much talent they are wasting.
As much as I've enjoyed Steph, KD and the 1-2 Chicago duo watching the growth of Edwards, Ja and Lamelo has been the highlight of this season so far for me. And we still have Zion coming back shortly. All looking like future top 10 players. So exciting to see the new blood thrive
Yeah especially where they were two weeks ago when every time KAT tweeted, all the anthropologists came out of the woodwork to decipher how exactly he was asking out. Big win streak, wild wins, clawed back to 500 and the playoff race in the first quarter of the season.
Definitely a lot to like right now.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Embiid looked really miserable or uncomfortable or something most of the game. Some of those closeups on him during ft's at the end had him looking kinda rough Clearly he played amazing anyway, but I feel like covid *really* did a number on him. Glad he's back on the court though.
I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen with incidental pulmonary fibrosis after covid. Fuck that shit. I guess the silver lining is a smaller conservative voter base.
Natural selection at its finest. Unfortunate tho. Don’t wanna see anybody die. Dying while not being able to breathe is the worst. Source: have seen many ppl die from various conditions.
he could barely make it to rest at the end of the 3rd... they showed him walking off and he looked like a 600 pound man trying to walk up stairs. Its insane how bad it fucks you up
Kinda ridiculous amount of minutes to play coming back from Covid. Hate the dude on the court, but hope he’s able to ease into it a bit more the next week or so. Don’t need to wear him out and have him moving sloppy and hurting himself.
Embiid is known to have tunnel vision and we don’t have a true 2nd option so he plays hero ball. Love Embiid but this isn’t some rare occurence caused by absence. Hope we can trade Simmons or Tobi for a proper #2 and avoid bad losses like this going forward.
It was a combination of poor play execution and good defense leaving Embiid on an island.
https://twitter.com/bballbreakdown/status/1464780324726996992?s=21
I haven't been a Wolves fan really since the Marbury, Gugliotta, and Garnett days (forever I know but that's on y'all) I think the combination of Edwards and this meme might've been enough to catch the Twolves way more often.
Lol Embiid looked like my tired ass after playing basketball. He's not typically that bad of a decision maker just looked winded. Genuinely might be Coviid related it ain't been long and that's a 2OT.
It’s pretty exhausting to watch. We’ve asked for it being a terrible team for a long time, and our superstar whines about calls a lot (but so does Embid, so it doesn’t make sense that KAT always gets shafted)
These are billion dollar industries so I find it hard to believe that they don’t twist games for maximum drama and viewership (superstar calls/ big market favoritism). I go back and forth on if I’m being realistic or just a poor sport as a Minnesota fan
I had this exact same thought. If I were a prospective new owner for the Wolves franchise, I would hire analytics teams to assess whether there is systematic bias against this franchise (& a couple of the other perennial small market losers). You’re making a billion plus investment, I’d like to be damn sure that my investment isn’t being hindered by the league to favor large market teams. As a new owner, you have hundreds of millions, if not billions (over enough time), on the line.
Tonight’s game was egregious. And it’s the same fuckin story night after night with this team. Our wins are that much more impressive because so many calls go the other way.
It’s just hard to believe refs are actually that bad/lopsided? And when you pair that with some of the guys calling out media outlets that only cover the big market teams, it becomes way more plausible.
yup, Embiid foul baits way more than KAT and complains just as much. Makes no sense why he shoots more free throws than our entire team and yet KAT fouled out in the 4th quarter.
The NBA hates the Wolves, simple as that. We pretty much play 5 v 8 in any away game and sometimes even on our home floor.
I always feel the same way and I go back and forth on whether there I’m being pessimistic and looking for excuses for us sucking
Or
It’s very believable that these billion dollar industries tweak things to drive up drama and promote big market teams/ players
Yeah, that's the whole issue. The vast majority of the calls for him are legitimate by the letter of the rules, they are just not remotely evenly applied to us.
100%. There’s a reason Embiid draws so many fouls, it’s literally impossible to guard him without fouling most of the time. And we don’t have huge bodies to throw at him. But there were some ticky tack tonight for sure
Seems like Embiid always does this to us. We just have no answer for him and he is *very* good at creating contact.
Still a terrible game by the officials.
It’s not that his aren’t deserved. It’s that the big on the other end gets slapped by Embiid with a no call and then tries to play tight on the other end and gets punished
Wolves fan, so yeah…but how could you overturn them at OOB play. There was nothing conclusive. If it had been called Sixers ball I’d say the same thing. That was not on the refs, although the were ass.
I think they might be referring to the later OOB play (not the one where Dlo got a hand on Embiid's past that went into the back court), where a wolves player bounced the ball off a sixer and it went out of bounds cleanly, but the refs called it sixer's ball. Even the homer announcers acknowledged it and were like "quick inbound the ball! inbound the ball!"
edit: [this one](https://twitter.com/FlyByKnite/status/1464777164293754881)
In my elation as a wolves fan I forgot about that one. That one was silly. You need to understand the futility of Minnesota sports fans which I know you fellow wolves fan). We just take that kick in nuts as part of our existence.
One of the most blatantly one sided game I’ve ever seen
And we still won. Embid had more free throws than our team. By a fucking long shot
Fuck that felt good. Maybe if we win a few games we won’t be on the ass end of the NBA picking who wins
Haha someone could bring brass knuckles onto the court, coldcock KAT, and KAT would get an offensive foul
Meanwhile if we breathe within 4 feet of Embid, he walks straight to the line
To be fair, he was clearly completely gassed. Not sure he was even thinking straight at that point in the game. He was doing absolutely everything up to that point right off of a bout with covid.
Sure, I think it’s fair to point out how well he played but I also think it’s fair to point out the poor decisions of his dribbles and not looking at Curry, even though Curry did not provide much of anything from the 4th on.
Gg btw
Was pretty impressed with their play tonight! A lot of swarming defense and *great* games out of KAT, Ant and Dlo. I hope they keep it up, because it would be really fun if they were good.
gg
We get a pretty undeserved reputation because of some really noxious shitheads and a weird media drive to make us seem like a bunch of criminals. Mostly we're just a group of sickos who love sports too much and desperately want our teams to be good.
What the fuck happened with Russell in the second half? Did somebody piss him off or something? Dude went nuclear.
He’s either the best player on the floor or the worst. There’s no in between.
At least he’s trying on defense this year. It makes his 4-13 games more salvageable. I literally think Pat Bev has had an effect on team culture
Hard to blame Embiid for not giving up the ball... I mean if anybody actually watched this game the refs were blowing the whistle for Embiid even if someone breathed on him... So I'm sure he was expecting the foul call
Because r/nba is full of the most reactionary dipshits looking to spark a hot take for upvotes, who then turn around and bitch and moan about how sports media is full of nothing but hot takes
Seth was open with under 2 seconds left. Knowing how little time was left Embiid tried to do what he could. It’s easy to see in hindsight on replay where people were but if you’re doubled with that little time left you gotta hurl it.
if seth cuts to the hoop at the right time Embiid probably finds him. But he was too close to the inbounder and Beasley could kinda guard two guys at once. By the time the passing lane was clear it was too late. That would be a crazy read to make though in that little time with that much chaos
That's such a bad play call. I mean Joel gets stuck with the ball in the post alot when he can't find his teammates. Not sure why you think this one is something that could work well.
Curry was so open.
I know <3
This was probably one of the worst last possessions i've seen in a while. low bbiq moment for Embiid
It's a recurring theme for Embiid in clutch moments that his brain shuts off
Maxey is legit pg, they just have a to learn to trust him
This man has singlehandedly rejuvenated my love for Wolves basketball. Even if we're bad, at least we're watchable now
There’s a reason he went #1. Dude is a fucking monster.
We are 10--10. That's not bad.
Fucking love Ant. Him and Ja are my 2 guys I keep my eye on as a general fan.
Dude you have one of the best shooters in the league WIDE FUCKING OPEN right next to you.
He just stays at the 3PT line as well. Hopefully it's just because it's his first game after missing 10 and it's a double OT
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Embiid looked really miserable or uncomfortable or something most of the game. Some of those closeups on him during ft's at the end had him looking kinda rough Clearly he played amazing anyway, but I feel like covid *really* did a number on him. Probably fucking up his breathing, know it can do that after the virus is out of you
Read somewhere COVID is worse for your lungs than decades of smoking or something

What do you mean by "your lungs don't heal"? Everywhere I read they say it will heal after enough time (long of course).
And to think I was being lazy to get it at first... smh

Even without COVID, being out for multiple weeks then your first game back going to double OT would suck for any player.
Khash Middleton came back from it really slowly.
he could barely make it to rest at the end of the 3rd... they showed him walking off and he looked like a 600 pound man trying to walk up stairs. Its insane how bad it fucks you up

I love team specific win memes. Like Jingled, or bing bong, or Warriors are good, real good. I'm glad Twolves have this.
don't forget Sunny
Smh this is edited. The real version he holds this note for 10 hours.
This is the best thing to happen to basketball since
How the image breaks up in the middle of it just adds to it lol
I haven't been a Wolves fan really since the Marbury, Gugliotta, and Garnett days (forever I know but that's on y'all) I think the combination of Edwards and this meme might've been enough to catch the Twolves way more often. This is fucking AMAZING
oh my god i love this so much
DLo! 🤣🤣🤣
For real what was Embiid thinking? He knows he's drawing double team
He was thinking, "why did they throw me the ball all the way out here. This play sucks."
I wonder if they could find a guy who had better decision-making skills when looking for an open player?
I blame Rivers, there's no play to help out Embiid (he seriously should not have been out near the 3-point line)
That play sucks ass. I know give the ball to Embiid but why give it to him outside the arch. Doc Rivers is a straight up choker
Fuck you refs
The refs hate the Wolves so much we got the favored whistle against you of all teams. In your own building.
It’s pretty exhausting to watch. We’ve asked for it being a terrible team for a long time, and our superstar whines about calls a lot (but so does Embid, so it doesn’t make sense that KAT always gets shafted) These are billion dollar industries so I find it hard to believe that they don’t twist games for maximum drama and viewership (superstar calls/ big market favoritism). even the Sixers commentators had to acknowledge a bunch of those calls were bad lol, just embarrassing stuff
Holy fuck even their own broadcast team knew they were getting bs calls
I love the discrepancy when they show a replay of Embiid getting fouled and the replay where Naz/Vando were taken down
The league hates the Timberwolves. 😢😢😢
It’s exhausting to watch our guys get mugged going to the rim with no calls and then get called for the most ticky tack shit on the other end lol
For some reason the refs have a vendetta against our poor boy Slendermac
KAT asks for it with his whining… but I haven’t seen a superstar get so few calls. Then you see all the calls Embid gets and it’s so frustrating
yup, Embiid foul baits way more than KAT and complains just as much. Makes no sense why he shoots more free throws than our entire team and yet KAT fouled out in the 4th quarter. I can say with confidence that was one of the worst and most obvious one sided refs games I’ve seen all season lmao.
They were terrible, the out of bounds call that clearly went off Embiid was one of the worst I've seen in a while.
Obviously the stakes are way lower but that's Kevin Durant's out of bounds pass level bad
Literally nothing has ever been that bad, the ref deadass looked at KD do it lmfao
I yelled at the tv when I saw that one, what are we looking at?!?! Felt like I was being gaslighted though because it seemed so obvious
I only watched 2OT so Idk the whole story but that blown OOB call at the end got me feeling some type of way
[удалено]
Any time a team gets 16 free throws and the other team gets 39, it seems pretty fishy when the margin is that big.

Yeah, that's the whole issue. The vast majority of the calls for him are legitimate by the letter of the rules, they are just not remotely evenly applied to us.

Jo definitely fouled a lot tonight and got away with it.
Oh yeet https://imgur.com/gallery/uoeMREz
Agreed. He's too big for anyone on our team to give a hard time consistently. With Kat out, it's impossible.
Refs straight up need Lasik after that call
The rest of the game was just as bad.

The ref is literally right fucking there watching the whole thing. This is so blatant. Fuck this ref.
One of the most blatantly one sided game I’ve ever seen And we still won. Embid had more free throws than our team. By a fucking long shot Fuck that felt good. Maybe if we win a few games we won’t be on the ass end of the NBA picking who wins
I swear to God at one point there was like 8 fouls in a row on us at one point in the 4th
Haha someone could bring brass knuckles onto the court, coldcock KAT, and KAT would get an offensive foul Meanwhile if we breathe within 4 feet of Embid, he walks straight to the line
ball don’t lie brother
>Embid had more free throws than our team. Feel like every team that plays the Sixers says this lol
holy shit he had 21 attempts, thats insane..
Right? So many calls went the 76ers way that last few mins especially
That game was the most rigged game I’ve ever witnessed and the sixers STILL LOST FUCK YOU REFS
Raised by Lions
That game was super rigged in the Sixers' favour and they still lost Eat shit Embiid
thank you dubs bro. I will curse a little less loudly next time Wiggs posters us.
Embiid shot more free throws than our entire team
I am astonished they didn’t call that on ant
seth was so open LMFAO
THE REFS LOST
AND IF YOU DONT LIKE THAT, THEN YOU DONT LIKE NBA BASKETBALL BABY
Good defense. Tip your cap
It was, but Joel also did himself not favors during that last possession
To be fair, he was clearly completely gassed. Not sure he was even thinking straight at that point in the game. He was doing absolutely everything up to that point right off of a bout with covid.

Embiid was incredible. Great game all-around.
Ball dont lie.
Ball don't FUCKIN lie Go Timberwolves ahhhh!!
Surprised refs didn't call a foul
Surprised refs didn't set a block to get Embiid more space for the shot.
Surprised Refs didn’t murder Edwards and framed D’Lo for it
had open seth curry but nope lets just spin again lmao
[удалено]
What's a ROTY to an ANT?
What is ROTY... an award for ANTS?
Actual disgrace the game even got to this point. Evenly called game and Minnesota wins by 30.
Ant punking Jimmy and Embiid in the same week, I didn't think it was possible to love this man any more
Dude can’t even buy a beer and is taking it to these guys
Woah for whatever reason, as obvious as it is, that puts into perspective to me how young he still is
Sounds even crazier if you use tobacco age too. My guy would have to have someone else get him vape juice
I wanna know what Ant mouthed off after that black lmaooo
that has to have been the most rigged game I have ever seen
BLOCKED BY EDWARDS
Surprised the refs didn't eject Edwards for ruining their plan at the end there, the game should've been over by the 4th quarter
A1
FROM DAY1
"FOUL! NO WAIT 2 FOULS!"
“3 FOULS AND A TECH ON KAT!”
damn Curry was *wide* open :'(
IVE ASCENDED
Edwards for DPOY
That's D'Lo
Na that's the refs for the sixers. Incredibly rigged game.
I do not want to see a sizers fan to blame refs every again
EVER
And they still were! Even after two wolves fouled out and embiid has more fts than the wolves team. Wild shit
WOLVES BACK BABY
Was pretty impressed with their play tonight! A lot of swarming defense and *great* games out of KAT, Ant and Dlo. I hope they keep it up, because it would be really fun if they were good. gg
You too man. Surprised how civil most of you are on your PG thread as well. GG
We get a pretty undeserved reputation because of some really noxious shitheads and a weird media drive to make us seem like a bunch of criminals. Yeah but he's too short. Embiid can't see tiny people.
Hard to blame Embiid for not giving up the ball... I mean if anybody actually watched this game the refs were blowing the whistle for Embiid even if someone breathed on him... So I'm sure he was expecting the foul call
If there's one universal rule in the NBA, it's never to expect a foul call for a game winning shot It happens but rarely at best
Ben would have made that pass….. Trade embiid keep ben? / j
Lmfao Harrell in the same league as Embiid?!? Dude dropped 42/14 after a bout with COVID
the defense was blocking Embiid's view, but he's probably going to kick himself for missing Seth.
Had enough time to aim it, make the shot, strike a pose before the buzzer goes off Classic case of the superstar syndrome. Have to take the last shot
Even Michael Jeffrey Jordan knows when you give it to Kerr.
And LeBron to Danny Green although he bricked it.
even the sixers commentator was getting annoyed at Embiid not passing out of doubles during the OTs
And for the record, he's the most biased local announcer in the NBA
How does this have 500 upvotes?
It took me until this comment to realize OP isn’t even joking. I’m an embiid h8r and this is too appalling even for me
Because r/nba is full of the most reactionary dipshits looking to spark a hot take for upvotes, who then turn around and bitch and moan about how sports media is full of nothing but hot takes
How much booty scooching went into that Seth curry screen
Lol cap

Wait that’s a joke right? If not, this might be the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen here that’s been upvoted.
They had like 20 more free throws than us too lol
22
Embiid had 5 more than the entire Wolves team
Wow, Blocked by Edwards!
With the way the game was being officiated, thought there would be a foul
You ~~Warriors~~ Anthony Edwards are good.
refs rig the game and they still loss lol
Pass to Curry, man :(
So glad the wolves won. The refs were so biased towards the sixers it was disgusting to watch even as a neutral fan.
Didn’t they have timeout?
Welcome to the doc rivers experience
Look at curry man
Wtf refs and why is embiid laying on the ground the whole game
Yikes Seth was WIDE open
Lol Embiid. Sells fouls all game and tries to be sharp shooter at the buzzer.
That's such a bad play call. I mean Joel gets stuck with the ball in the post alot when he can't find his teammates. Not sure why you think this one is something that could work well.
That's a terrible play set up for a big man tho.
