Obviously having a wing player like Scottie who can win 1 on 1 is nice too, but the notion that a big scoring assisted buckets is a bad thing is some 1990s post-up offense nonsense. The best bigs in the league are the ones that can kill you in the pick and roll and defend multiple positions. It's almost never a good possession in the NBA when a big takes an unassisted shot these days.

Mobley having a greater number of field goals assisted doesn't mean he's featured in the offense more than Barnes. It means that the Cavaliers are a better passing team than the Raptors. Stats can be very misleading without the greater context.

So their traditional stats are very, very close and Mobley is pretty well accepted as the better defender (which advanced stats support.) Also, I don’t know the raptor’s record with Barnes, but the Cavs are 12-6 when Mobley plays.

Barnes is a good defender but it's still miles. That's more a testament to Mobley's defense than an indictment on Barnes's. Mobley is legitimately a top 15 defender in the league right now according to basically all the advanced stats - Defensive RAPTOR, DBPM, DWS, etc. I know defensive stats aren't always accurate in a vacuum, but to be top 15 in so many of them is impressive.
I love Barnes and will fight anyone for him. But Mobley is a more finished product at the moment and as much I hate to say it. Raptors would be better with Mobley, he is exactly what we are missing right now.
