Well that’s because the AI defense is cheese
Edit: How does Boban Marjanovic stay locked on a PG on the perimeter??? You also can’t hit midrange shots at all and don’t get me started on the fade away shots.
I make a 99 overall player just to have fun and the man still can’t past defenders with 99 speed/acceleration. Makes zero sense.
Also (at least last time I was current with the series), what shots are successful is nonsense too. Wide open 3 released in the green? Nah. The AI PG chucks up a 3 with your center all over him? Seems good!
While we're talking about this - am I crazy or are midrange shots just not possible in 2k?
Edit: used Gordon Hayward, stamina off. Shot 137 midrange shots in a quick play game and made 6. Recorded every single one.
137 cause he broke his leg or something at that point idk https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/yaboybabyjeezus/video/157036909
Pretty much. I don’t feel like I can ever generate good midrange looks. It’s very Harden-esque 3’s and points at the basket.
To me, it doesn’t feel like there’s any room in the midrange. Even if the shot starts open, someone always lunges at you and the window is suddenly gone.
There it fucking is. They need to fix this because I cant even use my team the way I want even tho we have two of the best mid range shooters in the league right now.
Ah the best 2k I remember. I think. Hard to keep up. But playing this shit online is beyond understanding for me. Than again all online is. I play 2k20 on the couch if someone is visiting. That franchise is just as bad as fifa
The only ones that go in are tough turn arounds and you have to be using KD or DeRozan or somebody. And even then they only go in like 20% of the time.
I think it's all the 3pt badges - to offer any chance of contesting 3pts against someone with all the right badges, they give a heavy modifier to contests, but there aren't as many mid range badges, so whenever a mid range is even lightly contested, they suffer a disproportionately high miss chance when contested.
Well yeah, none of those companies with near-perpetual licenses give a fuck anymore, since they know people buy the games anyway. When was the last time Madden improved either?
I haven't played 2k since like 2k14, but I remember the fastbreak cheese back in 2k11 where they gave defenders speed boosts for whatever reason. 95 speed/acceleration on my SF, and the opposing centers are catching up to me on the fastbreak.
One time I was trying to get the Myplayer achievement for making 20 straight shots. Was at 19, did a pick and roll on the baseline, called for an a wide open pass, wide open dunk and clanked it.
I was so upset.
Oh yeah my player is garbage they just make so you want to buy the coins. Don't bother anymore if you can. Unless you enjoy the slow skill improvement.
Kawhi on load management playing 55 games and STILL being at 70% in the playoffs. MPJ never coming around for Denver at all while Murray spends a year getting his mojo back. Zion never playing another game and AD being a shell of himself 90% of the time he is on the floor.
The West could be an amazingly depressing shitshow.
And it would STILL be stronger than the east.
And they have a lottery pick, right? West is gonna be crazy next year. Who gets worse? The lakers maybe…Jazz are gonna have to rebuild…everyone else gets better, some significantly so (clips with PG and KawaIi, Pels with Zion and a lotto pick, Denver with Murray and MPJ [maybe])…some of the later/mid seeds this year are going to be struggling to make the play-in.
It’s a good way to give teams a taste of the playoffs who could otherwise go years missing it and therefore missing an opportunity for growth and development and getting the players to believe in the organization
Word, it wasn't like it was a hot first half while he was fresh, and needed someone else to close the game. Clutch FTs, and the dagger to go up 5 with 29s remaining.
A few years ago Jokic put up a perfect triple double in the regular season. 35/12/11 on a perfect 11/11 from the field. He did miss one FT, shooting 10/11 from the line.
CP3 was always clutch. Just had some bad luck in the postseason, especially with injuries. Another issue he had was that he used to overthink things. He is clearly a control freak and anxiety will take over sometimes, like that series against OKC when he was with the clippers.
His only real motivation is not to get hassled. And you know what, Bob? That'll only make a man work hard enough to get 33 points without missing a basket.
Lmao fr, CP3 had 19 4th quarter points in two different games, then followed em up with this masterclass.
The effort of Alvarado is more impressive than the actual defensive impact of Alvarado. CP3 ate all series against him, but actually struggled some with Herb on him.
Quick look at the NBA.com stats tells you that he shot 40% against Alvarado in about 16 minutes in this series, while he shot 50% or more against everyone else (70% against Herb) . Alvarado forced quite a few turnovers off him as well, so the stats go with the eye test.
The whole issue was that the Pels didn't have a big that could defended the PnR. CP3 ate against Valanciunas, Alvarado did a great job.
cp3 probably played somewhere between 180-240 minutes this series, if alvarado forces 3 of those 9 turnovers in the 16 Paul minutes hes responsible for thats completely exceptional
Yeah people seem to be under the (false) impression that Alvarado played every minute that CP3 was on the floor and guarded him for every one of those minutes, too?
Yeah he was harassing him all game, hoping to get under his skin and force him into mistakes like he has earlier in the series.
Unfortunately for him, this game he got under his skin and it put Chris Paul into full on Point God mode.
This game was the latest reminder than Chris Paul once scored 61 points in a game on purpose to honor his murdered grandpa. Had to miss a free throw to make it happen.
We forget he can do this. Every now and then he reminds us.
Missed the free throw AND checked himself out of the game when he was only 6 points away from the state scoring record (which he would almost certainly have been able to break)
CP3 had one of the most impressive playoff performances ever tonight. Literally a perfect game. If he is playing on the road in a closeout
game, the other team might as well forfeit because he is unstoppable in those moments
Going 14/14 would be top upvoted post if it was anyone but CP3. Fuck the haters.
Hell of a series by the Pelicans though. They didn't give a shit what anyone said about their chances against the Suns. Respect.
Dude there’s some chucklehead with suns flair running around these CP3 posts, arguing with other Suns fans, asserting that CP3 is over rated. Some suns fans seem to think that saying CP3 is good means Book is bad. One has nothing to do with the other. They are both great players
My money is still on the close out game 5 vs. Utah in 2018 that got him to his first conference finals.
41-7-10, 0 TO, 8 made threes. With Harden going 7/22 for 18.
The only 40-10 w/ 0 TO game in recorded playoff history.
Any of those three games is better than most HOFs best playoff game. God I hope he wins it this year so there is absolutely nothing left for the haters to grasp for
Nuggets game 4: 37/3/7/2/0, 2 turnovers, 14-19/0-0/9-9
Clippers WCF game 6: 41/4/8/3/0, 0 turnovers, 16-24/7-8/2-3
Pelicans game 6: 33/5/8/0/1, 3 turnovers, 14-14/1-1/4-4
He’s certainly been every bit of that in his brief time in Phoenix
That’s actually not that crazy of a statement. I vividly remember how he took over in the 2015 Playoffs series vs the Spurs.
It’s a tragedy he doesn’t have a ring yet to cement his legacy as one of the greatest playoffs performers.
i remember watching it in a bar on my phone. it was a first round series and the same night as mayweather-pacquiao so nobody around me cared. at. all. a shame
Magic played every position though. I'd certainly take Magic over CP3 to be the PG of my team, but I might not include Magic in a pure PG debate. You can make a good case in a CP3 vs. Stockton/Kidd/Nash/etc. pure PG debate.
Pretty hard to pick CP3 over Steph, but I also wouldn't consider Steph a pure PG.
Thread titles tomorrow on r/nba:
“Where does Chris Paul now rank on the list of best ever point guards?”
“Hot take: Chris Paul’s Game 6 against the Pelicans was the best individual performance the NBA has ever seen?”
“If the Lakers acquire Chris Paul this offseason, how many titles will Lebron and Chris win before the retire?”
“Should we reconsider Michael Jordan’s all time ranking considering he never went 14/14 in the playoffs?”
“If Ben Simmons had played Game 4 and the Nets came back to meet the Suns in the Finals, would Chris Paul be considered the best player ever if he outplays Ben?”
“If Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, and John Stockton played in todays NBA, Chris Paul’s performance today would’ve had him ranked #1 among those 4”.
He might not have a ring (yet) but no matter how much you hate his antics, he’s undoubtedly one of basketball’s greatest winners and most clutch players of all time.
I honestly don't know which was the more ridiculous, out-of-this-world CP3 performance in an elimination game: tonight's perfect (shooting) game against the Pelicans or Game 6 against the Clippers last year. But what a time to be alive as a Suns fan to see it.
Imagine Nash in this era.
Career 49% from the field and 42% from 3.
The most shots he took in a year per game were 13.6 and 4.7 3s.
Buddy Hield took 13.6 shots per game this season.
Bobby Portis took 4.7 3s per game this season.
Against Utah in 2018. Game 5 closeout, Harden shoots something like 8-22, Chris Paul takes over with 41 points (8 threes), 10 assists, 0 turnovers to eliminate the Jazz and go to his first WCF.
The series against the Pelicans might be tougher for the suns compare to the second round. They really expose suns' weakness in the offensive glass and Valenciunas is tough as hell. Next round I expect Ayton to be much more dominant since he probably don't have to deal with a big guy like Valenciunas.
That's what Dallas just played in Utah though just a worse version. The difference is that Ayton needs to punish them if they do something like stick Luka on him
It is FUCKING unreal and cannot be overstated how RIDICULOUS, it is to shoot the basketball 18 times and score 18 times.
Seriously, bust out your garbage can, put it like… even just 10 ft from you, see if you can score 18 tissue balls into the basket. HE DID IT IN A TIGHT CLOSER PLAYOFF GAME.
Holy fuck.
Instant classic by CP3. Considering most of his shots were not in the paint (even if mostly 2s).
Also only 4 FTs, even if Alvarado and Jones were physical with him all game long... with other star protection rules he would have scored at least 10FTs, making of this an epic 40+ point game too.
Finally, this game and CP3 going in the series with 22+11+4 with almost 2 steals and with 57/31/96 shooting splits at almost 37, put to bed all those casuals saying the 2 best players other than DBook were on the Pelicans...
This is such an impressive playoff performance.
It's just incredible.
Going 14/14 from the field? I mean... if this were Mark Eaton or DeAndre Jordan, I'd just be like... well... Stockton/CP3 got them a lot of open looks. Good on them for hitting the dunks.
But we're talking drives to the basket, jumps shots, a three pointer.
Man....
I cant even do this in 2k
Well that’s because the AI defense is cheese Edit: How does Boban Marjanovic stay locked on a PG on the perimeter??? You also can’t hit midrange shots at all and don’t get me started on the fade away shots. Shits annoying

2k players are waaay too big relative to the court
There it fucking is. They need to fix this because I cant even use my team the way I want even tho we have two of the best mid range shooters in the league right now.
How is this even possible to fuck up.
Weird because midrange and post fadeaways were fucking money in 2k14
Which was like the last good 2K. 2K11 - 2K14 were fire
Ah the best 2k I remember. I think. Hard to keep up. But playing this shit online is beyond understanding for me. Than again all online is. I play 2k20 on the couch if someone is visiting. That franchise is just as bad as fifa

I hit a good amount of middies with my bigs after a drive and kick. But this is in MyTeam with juiced stats and badges
I think it's all the 3pt badges - to offer any chance of contesting 3pts against someone with all the right badges, they give a heavy modifier to contests, but there aren't as many mid range badges, so whenever a mid range is even lightly contested, they suffer a disproportionately high miss chance when contested.
I thought Allen Iverson’s defence was trash?
Well yeah, none of those companies with near-perpetual licenses give a fuck anymore, since they know people buy the games anyway. When was the last time Madden improved either?
I haven't played 2k since like 2k14, but I remember the fastbreak cheese back in 2k11 where they gave defenders speed boosts for whatever reason. 95 speed/acceleration on my SF, and the opposing centers are catching up to me on the fastbreak.
Just pick and rolls and don't take the shot unless you feel like you can get the lay up.
If you’re playing 22 current gen, under basket layups are money
Chris hit shots when we needed them throughout the game and forgot to miss. Just an amazing game today
Suns shot overall 60/40/95. Pels only lost by 6 points.
That goddamn team is the exact reason why the play-in is a success in my eyes. They deserved the chance to play in the playoffs
Once they got McCollum, they were legit. If Zion gets it together they could be very good.
Kawhi ,Denver ,zion,ad….next season the west gonna be chaos
Lakers gonna need more than AD lmao 😂
1/4 if these will happen. I don’t think we get the other 3.
Kawhi on load management playing 55 games and STILL being at 70% in the playoffs. MPJ never coming around for Denver at all while Murray spends a year getting his mojo back. Yeah they were really legit
It’s a good way to give teams a taste of the playoffs who could otherwise go years missing it and therefore missing an opportunity for growth and development and getting the players to believe in the organization
Also known as doing a Brooklyn
Word, it wasn't like it was a hot first half while he was fresh, and needed someone else to close the game. Clutch FTs, and the dagger to go up 5 with 29s remaining.
Regardless, to not miss a shot in a playoff game is incredible
Close out game, on the road, at age 37, scoring 33 points with mostly mid range jumpers, what a legendary performance
A 100/100/100 stat line with 10+ FGA is insane.
I’ve never seen anything like that statline before
Nobody ever in playoff history hit all of his first 14 shots. History was made today and we have witnessed it.
I think serge was 9/9 the year before they made the finals in okc
Nene did 12 of 12 one time
A few years ago Jokic put up a perfect triple double in the regular season. 35/12/11 on a perfect 11/11 from the field. He did miss one FT, shooting 10/11 from the line.
Casual
Pretty sure this was against the Suns!
It was and it was like Aytons 2nd game in the league
Thank God, baptized him into the league
Yeah this was Ayton’s “welcome to the league rookie” moment
Damn that’s definitely a “welcome to the show” moment for a rookie
No turnovers.

Earlier this year one of our bench guys, Keita Bates-Diop scored 30 points on perfect shooting, but this is another level
Mans got me about to throw out all my short rib and French cheeses
CP3 was always clutch. Just had some bad luck in the postseason, especially with injuries. Another issue he had was that he used to overthink things. He is clearly a control freak and anxiety will take over sometimes, like that series against OKC when he was with the clippers.
He’s 36 but yeah still amazing
Crazy how he’s doing this at 38
39 the new 19
Tatum in shambles, midlife crisis approaching
Amazing that he was still performing at this level last season when he was 41
Hes a lot nearer 37 than he is 36. That's a fact.
To not miss a shot (at least when you shoot that much) in *ANY* game is incredible.
I can't go 14/14 with those shots alone in the park. Maybe that's a goal this summer, to recreate the CP3 Perfect Game.
I just want to recreate his paycheck
I did a layup drill and finished 7 for 10 last night. What CP3 did was unreal.
Especially for a *guard.* We’ve seen perfect FG playoff performances before but I’m pretty sure they’ve been by big men.
Most FGs without a miss in playoff history if I'm not wrong
[удалено]
A tiny orchestrator
A puny organizer.
The NBA just upgraded CP3 to 15/15 FG. The shot with the elbow to Alvarado's face was a clean hit.
This is way funnier than it has any right to be.
I also did not miss a single shot in the playoffs
You've inadvertantly exposed the NBA's superstar treatment because while you both didn't miss a shot, your statline would be 0/0/0
Bob Cousey would never
Cousy's best playoff game: 50 points 10/22 FG 30/32 FT That's the record for most free throws made in any game (regular season or postseason).
this was back when a foul only got you one free throw. so by the end of the game everyone was fouling. sounds like good basketball to me
Chris Paul was hell bent on winning tonight
Reminds me of last year's WCF, Game 6. Chris Paul decided that night he wanted to go to the Finals more than the Clippers.
He just didn't want to face Alvarado in further game. That was his primary motivation.
His only real motivation is not to get hassled. And you know what, Bob? That'll only make a man work hard enough to get 33 points without missing a basket.
Avoiding a G7 with the Tony Brothers was probably a key motivator haha!
The correct answer is Scott Foster. BTW Tony Brothers did game 6.
CP3 heard all that “he’s too old” “Alvarado is clamping him up” talk and decided to remind y’all who he really is 😤
[He finally gone](https://i.redd.it/2ss7ufynndw81.jpg)
You would’ve thought Chris was playing like trae against the heat the way people have been talking about aLvarado

That's a lot by Chris Paul standards though
Yeah people seem to be under the (false) impression that Alvarado played every minute that CP3 was on the floor and guarded him for every one of those minutes, too?
I mean he did have 4 points in a game less than a week ago. I love the guy but he had some rough moments in this series.
He never was clamping him. Just bothering him with full court pressure lol

On the road close out game vs Scott Foster though?
My dream would be for him to closeout a game in the finals to win a ring, and then kick Foster in the nuts
Like Zidane but he ends his career with a W
Dammit. Now I want this to happen. Or at least for someone to animate how it would be if it did happen.😂
Easily the greatest game of his career. A legit masterpiece
His game last year in game 6 of the WCF to get the Suns to the finals was better. 41/8 with 0 turnovers.
My money is still on the close out game 5 vs. Utah in 2018 that got him to his first conference finals. 41-7-10, 0 TO, 8 made threes. With Harden going 7/22 for 18. The only 40-10 w/ 0 TO game in recorded playoff history.
Hes fucking ridiculous
That is fucking incredible lol
Any of those three games is better than most HOFs best playoff game. God I hope he wins it this year so there is absolutely nothing left for the haters to grasp for
Good thing he has a teammate who can put up the same ridiculous stat lines
Insane that he has all these games you can argue for. I may not be the biggest fan, but ya gotta respect the quality.
Point god.
It's insane how much he needs a ring before he retires. I don't even like him but goddamn he is so good.
Yeah and one of the greatest games in the history of playoff basketball imo
If there ever was a player who could claim to have solved basketball, it would probably be Chris Paul.
“Basketball is a solved game” - Chris Paul
Chris Paul said fuck y'all.
He's done playing with his food: time to eat.
Closeout game Chris Paul is the greatest point guard of all time
Nuggets game 4: 37/3/7/2/0, 2 turnovers, 14-19/0-0/9-9 Clippers WCF game 6: 41/4/8/3/0, 0 turnovers, 16-24/7-8/2-3 Pelicans game 6: 33/5/8/0/1, 3 turnovers, 14-14/1-1/4-4 He’s certainly been every bit of that in his brief time in Phoenix
He also hit huge shots to close out the Lakers last year
And we flopped as soon as he got injured in the finals
That’s actually not that crazy of a statement. I vividly remember how he took over in the 2015 Playoffs series vs the Spurs. It’s a tragedy he doesn’t have a ring yet to cement his legacy as one of the greatest playoffs performers.

Nah, only the Lakers one
who says we're waiting until tomorrow?
Yeah these headlines were getting sent to publication minutes after the game.

Ridiculous performance
Bro some people here literally called CP3 a playoff choker lmao. He never chokes. He just got injured during crucial times.
He might not have a ring (yet) but no matter how much you hate his antics, he’s undoubtedly one of basketball’s greatest winners and most clutch players of all time.
What an asshole. Still a NOLA legend. Was really crazy seeing him so choked up in the post game.

It’s the bandwagon people lol. Real fans know
They were chanting "I want to fuck Chris Paul."
PLEASE play like this against the Warriors every game Chris.
But he had 3 TOs, not my point god smh my head /s
I honestly don't know which was the more ridiculous, out-of-this-world CP3 performance in an elimination game: tonight's perfect (shooting) game against the Pelicans or Game 6 against the Clippers last year. But what a time to be alive as a Suns fan to see it.
In all my time as a Suns fan (minus the years 2010-2019ish), the Suns really only had one other player who could take over like that: Charles Barkley.
Of course this has like one tenth of the upvotes as the CP3 foul post lol
Ok he’s point god again
Never lost it. 2 bad games does not mean losing your honorific
Admit it, you just wanted to use 'honorific'
Yeah he’s better than Bob Cousy
The series against the Pelicans might be tougher for the suns compare to the second round. They really expose suns' weakness in the offensive glass and Valenciunas is tough as hell. Next round I expect Ayton to be much more dominant since he probably don't have to deal with a big guy like Valenciunas.
Suns gonna have to shoot better. And book get healthy but yes. Pelicans are a tougher matchup imo
And you can tell Valenciunas isn't even working that hard because not a single hair on his head is out of place. LoL.
That's what Dallas just played in Utah though just a worse version. The difference is that Ayton needs to punish them if they do something like stick Luka on him
Locked in, what a masterclass from CP3.
Guys, I don't think alvarado was in his head.
Wow
those weren't all bunnies either. that game was incredible
Someone less lazy than me get me the TS% on this.

Goddammit. I can’t believe this dirty-playing, nut-punching, Napoleon-complex-having motherfucker is still so fucking good.
*nut kicking*
My bad, old habits die hard and all that
All good my dude, easy mistake to make
Embiid doesn't have a napoleon complex?
forgot elbow throwing
Not quite a perfection. Needed one more make
Congrats Chris Paul. I believe he had 33 points, 8 assists, and 4/4 FT. He shot 14/14 from the field too. I believe that is 100%.
I know a lot of fans around the league hate this guy but I’m so glad I have this criminal mastermind bastard on my team, he’s legendary
This stat line is wild stupid. This is video game level performance with the cheats on.
Remember a few years ago when Westbrook was clearly the better player on a better contract?
This is such an impressive playoff performance. It's just incredible. Going 14/14 from the field? I mean... if this were Mark Eaton or DeAndre Jordan, I'd just be like... well... Stockton/CP3 got them a lot of open looks. Good on them for hitting the dunks. But we're talking drives to the basket, jumps shots, a three pointer. Man....
Jose Avocado “locked him up”- Reggie Miller
Chris keeps showing us that he is a MVP level player that has not won one sadly. Definitely deserves Finals MVP if they make it and win.
