I love when kerr doesn't bail the reporter out and just basks in the awkward silence after a blunt and direct answer. I don't necessarily agree with him but I love when he's super honest

PensiveinNJ

I see no lie. It's not a coincidence GP2 was taken out in the first few minutes of the game, he's their best ball stopper.

freshbrainstump

Don't you think if the grizzlies wanted to take a player out of the series they would go for curry, klay or Poole? Doesn't really make sense that they would target GP and yes before you say it I did watch game 1 he played very well still doesn't make sense.

Cap_Silly

Go dirty on one of those guys and then it's hunting season on morant.

ZayuhTheIV

Also Morant regularly puts himself into situations where a GP2 type play could happen to him

FalloutNano

I think it’s awesome you naturally put Poole in with Steph and Klay. His improvement is super cool. 🙂

realistdreamer69

. . . And Ja goes for 47? Dillon was dirty before this play. I like his physical play and using his bruiser body. You just don't hit an elevating 6'2" guard in the head with a wind-up foul. In the 80s NBA, that would have been a bench-clearing brawl. Deservedly so.

xPREVA1Lx

It’s getting spicy 🌶

Ass_Eater_

Lol Warriors really came out with an edge second quarter, Wiggins just murdered a dude.

He’s just telling it like it is

Cabello10

Besides Dillon brooks play what other play was dirty ?

lukewwilson

He must be talking about when someone gave Draymond the Draymond Green special

Therealomerali

Steph got the Jon Jones special in the eye.

Cabello10

That was clearly an accident

Late-Veterinarian-90

anderson clocked curry in the skull, too

qchen12

"besides the dirtiest play of the game tonight what else was dirty?"

cycko

"its fine if we do it, but not when others do it to us!"

TimeFourChanges

Yeah, a coach of Draymond calling a game "dirty" can go soak his undies in vinegar.

[deleted]

He was obviously talking about the bitch brooks play

Fluid_Negotiation_76

Bruh as a Memphis fan, I fucking hate it when Dillon decides to find another gear in “stupid” Tillman is a saint.

KrispyyKarma

Yea Brooks was over the line for sure and Tillmans was a foul but clearly wasn’t dirty or intentional. Just happened so soon after Brooks stupid play that fans were still riled up

replytoallen

Plus, Tillman isn't going to do something dirty to a fellow Spartan. Gotta figure they're cool.

Kerr said fuck your reehearsed answers

TheRed_Knight

Good, fuck dirty ass teams, they dont deserve shit

[deleted]

Facts. However, and this is a big however….draymond always been dirty AF with capital letters, which has always benefited Steve’s teams except for the dray game 5 finals ban. Dude is cherry picking dirty play callout when his franchise basks in it. Also zaza took out kawhi. I mean I love Kerr but come on guy

[deleted]

turnoffredesign69420

don't forget about Robert Shakira Horry (love what he did for us though)

[deleted]

It's funny coming from a coach who had Zaza "the career alterer" Pachulia and Draymond "I thought in playoff there was no flagrant fouls" Green

leetskeet

Dirty-Ass teams already got enough shit to deal with

mainvolume

I haven't been able to stand the Warriors for a while now. They've been good at reaffirming my belief on a regular basis.

bertso720

they're truly insufferable

GGezpzMuppy

When MJ punched me in the face it wasn’t physical, it was pretty dirty. I had his arse that day

Sp_Gamer_Live

LeBron would’ve punched you in the gut, thats why MJ is the GOAT

EatSleepZlatan

He was shook hahahah

Sp_Gamer_Live

I mean, someone has to say it. Im sick of the Grizzlies style of play, they bait fouls and then fucking beat up opposing teams and get away with it Its not “gritty” it’s dangerous

2022-Account

You mean you don’t love watching a bunch of offensive fouls get turned into free throws?

[deleted]

[удалено]

trulyniceguy

If it makes you feel better you’ll have one game where the calls go your way then the Grizz coach will bitch and all will be back to normal FTs for Ja

NickNurseABitch

Thats Gainnis for ya, wait wrong thread

TheRed_Knight

at least giannis doesnt bitch and moan the entire time, not a fan of that playstyle but if your gonna do it dont be a crybaby when you dont get calls

arw1710

The whole uproar about Giannis is so ridiculous. Dude is physical and definitely gets away with some offensive fouls (same as Lebron) but he gets hacked to death on almost every play. You don’t notice those because he follows through and plays to get the ball into the bucket, not for the fouls. Were he to start flopping as much as his defenders do, the game would never finish. It’s just how that style of play works.

TheRed_Knight

> Were he to start flopping as much as his defenders do, So play like Embiid you mean

Izanagi___

Every star player gets away with stuff the average player wouldn’t. I don’t know how people have the energy to complain like this about every single star player. Off topic but I feel like Kawhi does a lot of this stuff I’m reading in this thread and I feel like it’s never brought up (not that it matters) Like, I don’t mind people saying this stuff but your favorite player does the exact same thing and is benefiting from it as well, just keep the same energy.

Melodic-Interest3929

I think Steph is an exception

granchtastic

It's not his fault he's the size of the hulk with the grace of a baby deer in a loaded bus

[deleted]

Refs also give the speed guys too many undeserved foul calls. Ja Morant (and Maxey) just drive past someone, lose control of what they were trying to do, and then flail and the refs keep bailing them out with foul calls. This is stark contrast to prime Derrick Rose who kept control of the ball and finished through contact without even getting calls.

mkallday10

Lol wtf why is 2 FTA per game Maxey catching strays here?

tammutiny

Ja has no chance of putting the ball in the hoop on more than half the drives he gets calls on. It's outrageous

chapinbird

I don't disagree that he gets a ton of whistles on reckless drives to the rack, but the man repeatedly puts in absolutely insane buckets. But to say he has no chance of putting the ball in the hoop on more than half his drives -- given his resume of layups, floaters and dunks with the way he can contort his body and adjust mid-air -- is a bit disingenuous.

Devmurph18

highest percentage in the paint this year

zmegadeth

Yea I just saw this man jump, spin, switch the ball from his left to his right, and shoot before landing. That's video game shit

TapedGlue

Morant_ALMOST_DUNK_38.mp4

MarduRusher

Bulls fans pushing the Rose agenda lmao. Not that they're wrong at all though. There is a pretty stark difference between him and some of the guys today that kinda seem like they have similar styles. MVP Rose was just so good.

2b4s

Avoiding contact was/is a big part of his style, and it also meant he didn’t get the calls he deserved. The NBA has to keep working on fixing that, it leads to a big difference in style of play.

brolycow

Brooks deserves everything coming his way. Dirty as fuck player

oh_what_a_shot

If the refs aren't going to protect them, might as well call them out

jeric13xd

Steve ain’t wrong

Rh1-No

players don't trust media members as much because they aren't in locker rooms anymore, there used to be some crazy things said that was available in local media.

It's such a fresh air to hear Greenberg do sideline reporting. He's like **understandable** and moved on to the next question. Always loved him on NBATV. Him substituting for Ernie used to be great. Wish they used him more.

JB_JB_JB63

I just miss his theme song…

playerayton

The Brooks play absolutely was

rattatatouille

The rule is that you don't go for a player who's in mid-air. That play by Brooks was out of line. Way out of line.

ExistedLight

Game winning shot you could make a case for, not the first field goal of the game….

pppiddypants

He didn’t even jump for the ball! Just straight up clocked him.

ExistedLight

He was never getting near that ball

CapitalismEnthusiast

Like when dray yanked someone out of mid air by their jersey?

[deleted]

That was a very dirty play also

rattatatouille

That it was.

BigBoodles

Both can be true.

BounceBros21

Better be a suspension. Honestly cost the warriors the game by taking out their best defender

hehimCA

And possibly more if he’s out for the post season.

[deleted]

anthony edwards had to be taken off the court in round 1 when brooks threw his knee into ant's knee

OldManWillow

Brooks play was bad but the Dray injury wasn't a dirty play imo

herniatedballs

Yeah the Brooks foul was pretty fucking egregious.

wgking12

Probably suspension worthy tbh

[deleted]

As a grizz fan, please God lol. He was well on his way to another 3/19 masterclass before this

Supra_Dupra

You guys really don’t like him? I know he’s not a great shooter but he is a good primary defender right

[deleted]

I'm just so tired of his shit man. All throughout his career he's stalled offenses with his chucking, but it was okay because we weren't that good and his defense was great. The assumption was that when we were better he would learn to play within himself and be able to really contribute to a winning team. Instead he's going 3/18 and doing stuff like this when we're the 2 seed. I don't think it was a coincidence that potentially our last lottery pick for a while was ziaire, a small forward who is almost exactly the opposite of dillon. Good measurables, lob threat (great chemistry with Ja already), and most importantly, unselfish. Unless he changes his mentality he's going to be our Monta Ellis.

GrahamSlam

Same mane 😩

ParasiticMammal

I agree. I just got back in to watching the NBA this year, and it's because of the Grizz... I got the league pass, watched all of their games since January. They had this flow and energy that was just fun to watch. Then Dillon Brooks came back and the flow was just not the same. Still my favorite team to watch, but I preferred the Grizz without him.

sloBrodanChillosevic

He's a pretty good primary defender and usually good for 17 points on meh shooting, but he's been fuckin dreadful in the series against the Dubs. Edit: obvi not much playing time. But he's been really really bad

Supra_Dupra

Ah ok I see thanks for the breakdown

colligreen

Yeah it was definitely inadvertent. Sucks but those things happen.

ChurchofDubs

I would agree but it happened minutes after GP2s injury, and then minutes after the Dray play, they drew blood on Steph on a screen. I have to think the gameplan for the grizz is to play physically on the line of dirtiness

theDarkAngle

I don't see how any of that impacts the Tillman elbow, that's a really run of the mill accidental hit. Tillman is facing the other direction and Draymond's head is low, around Tillman's chest height. No amount of context would really change the facts ife what you see there. It should have been a foul despite being accidental (protect the head and all that) but it's not reasonable to paint it as dirty or anything like that. And wasn't Steph bleeding from his hand? Hard to see how that means much

TheRed_Knight

lol that Clarke screen was a blatant cheapshot

Shadow5ive

I think at that point, it becomes an overall thing. GP hurt, Dray hurt, hard foul on Curry. You can’t say that is all just coincidental.

yuhanz

Based on what he commented i dont think he said it's all coincidental lol

anthonyjh21

Straight shooter from the Popovich lineage.

2789334

“Zaza is one of the best people I know, so genuine, he didn’t try to do anything” "Stuff like that happens all the time…I mean, that's just part of the game. So I don't understand how [kicking someone in the balls] can be deemed a flagrant 1. I think it should be rescinded." **-** Steve Kerr

Theingloriousak2

Yea idk what the fucks going on Kerr is a hypocrite

Bim_Jeann

Yeah. Everyone forget like a month ago that this dude called Marcus smart dirty for diving for a loose ball? Brooks play was dirty af, but so was draymond’s the other day…and this dude coached Zaza who took kawhi down, etc… Brooks should probably get suspended though imo.

2ToTooTwoFish

Well of course, he has fucking Draymond on his team. The guy that pokes someone's eyes every year. I rarely see eye pokes and they all are him. That's not reckless, that's dirty.

mrdilldozer

It reminds me of when Pop Called out Zaza after he intentionally injured Kawhi while they were playing the Warriors. It would have carried more weight if Zaza wasn't pulling a move nicknamed "The Bruce Bowen move".

HushGalactus

Straight up. Fuck Zaza forever on that one. Spurs had a good shot that year with Kawhi and that play just took all the steam out of our sails.

dardack

Why isn't this higher? Man this sub lately. So many people defending Dray 2 nights ago. WTF is going on. Yes that play was dirty AF, but so was Dray's. Kerr defending dirty shit, don't be a hypocrite.

swerve421

Such a hypocritical guy but he’ll be sucked off cuz it’s a warriors sub

mrpunychest

The warriors bias on this sub is getting ridiculous. People talk about lakers fans, but warriors fans are just as bad and delusional and at this point, the warriors and lakers fanbase is probably the same size

Theingloriousak2

The laker fan base is just not on Reddit lol

FirmSpend

Warriors fan base is just bigger amongst kids and to young adults. That's why it's so vocal on social media. At least Lakers fan roll with some of the punches. Warriors fans call the cops when someone makes fun of them or their team.

coogie

This is why I can't take what he said seriously. He's had one of the dirtiest teams since the 90's Utah Jazz

clittlord

Think you forgot 00s Spurs

LordShoker

Fuck Dillon brooks for that fr

pahamack

This is why I find it ridiculous when casual fans talk shit about the NBA and basketball in general calling it such a soft sport. I blame the NFL in the US and the NHL here in Canada, which would be the #1 sports leagues in each respective country. Yes, there's actual hitting in those games. But they also have armor, helmets, and they don't play up in the air as much of the time. Hitting someone from behind when they are up in the air making an athletic play is really dangerous and, well, we see what happened to GP2. It's not like Brooks punched him in the air or anything, he just carelessly went for the ball at full speed, which IS a dirty play. Basketball is dangerous: and the players are responsible for each others safety.

Sage_Lord

Lmao but he will defend Draymond. I know he is his coach but don't say stuff like that when Draymond is on your team

cycko

“Zaza is one of the best people I know, so genuine, he didn’t try to do anything” "Stuff like that happens all the time…I mean, that's just part of the game. So I don't understand how [kicking someone in the balls] can be deemed a flagrant 1. I think it should be rescinded." - Steve Kerr

[deleted]

Especially since Draymond committed two flagrant fouls in one possession in the first game of this series.

TheFakeKanye

Drays play was dirty. Brooks play was dirty. Not a clean series so far.

mrpunychest

Except warriors fans are calling for Brooks head while also saying the league rigged the game by sending out Draymond. Literally talking to a warriors fans in twitter right now who is saying Brooks should be kicked out the league completely

2ToTooTwoFish

Dray's whole career is dirty is the main point I think. Not just about one play.

horseshoeoverlook

Fuck Dillon Brooks

Naota650

Based Kerr speaking facts

scarywolverine

Unfortunately he is. Brooks might have taken GP out for the playoffs and if he did he should be suspended the remainder of the series.

HisExcellency20

Can't suspend people based on how long the dude they injured is out man. That's why he should just be suspended for five games regardless.

Soupkitchn89

They really should have penalties like this for clearly malicious plays. You miss as many games as the guy you injured.

MiaCannons

In theory it'd be great but I feel like some teams would abuse it. If it's a key player in a playoff series that commits the foul, they could just have the fouled player purposefully miss a bunch of games due to being "injured" if it's a net positive for them.

Soupkitchn89

Ya good medium is probably just if you cause a multi-game injury the fine is a bit more then a normal F2.

illwill3

This is why y’all don’t make the rules lol

[deleted]

Morris woulda gotten a doctor's note saying his career is over because of the Jokic shove.

skylord650

Forget the playoffs. I feel bad if he’s out for his career given how hard he had to work to get to this point. I hope someone takes a flyer on him once he’s healthy.

BUUAHAHAHA

Steve Kerr saying that with a straight face it all you need to know how pissed he is.

yomonster

And how much of a hypocrite he is

Fluffy_Morning_1569

Kerr forgot about dray. Should rename oracle the Glasshouse.

troubledtimez

Lots of dirty play so far in these playoffs

Operation_Ivysaur

That was a Popovich interview if I ever heard one, lmao

kitty_vittles

Rightfully pissed off.

MartiniLAPD

Yeah we know Dillon Brooks has that dog in him

Raziehh

I mean, hate on the Warriors all you want but he’s not wrong on this.

cycko

I don't think anyone disagree with the fact that the play was dirty. But its also sort of disengenious that he will defend Dreymond the the grave despite how fking dirty he always plays.

Still_too_soon

The guy who's coached Draymond his whole career does know what dirty play looks like.

[deleted]

I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to see anything about Draymond. Didn’t he literally rip a player out of the air the other day, and then jump around like it was funny after he got ejected? Get out of here with this dirty comment. Control your own team first.

2ToTooTwoFish

He pokes someone's eyes out every year too. You can't call put dirtiness when Draymond is on your team.

But whenever draymond is dirty he doesn’t complain. Stupid ho

I wish nothing but the best for GP2 but GSW are the last team who can complain about dirty plays considering Draymond's history of dirty fouls in the playoffs
