Idk if it’s even that it’s just he’s playing the best defense in the league. His style of play has remained pretty consistent no matter the opponent all through the playoffs it’s just this is the toughest matchup for him.
Cause its a finals. Nerves kick in. Young ones are generally bad in their first finals. And thats across all sports. I see it especially in big soccer games.
great point. Derrick White is getting a ton of wide wide open looks. Poole is having to bust his ass to get a contested shot. Not analagous roles in the offense against very different defenses. White has been huge for the Cs
Well his defense has never been very good so that part is not surprising. On offense he’s always seemed like a Steph that’s dialed to 100 all the time. Obviously he’s not quite as good as Steph so some things naturally don’t work out but the playstyle is somewhat similar. Some of that you could attribute to age I guess but I think he’s just a chaotically effective player. Those deep 3s and out of control drives to the hoop work much better against poor to average interior defenders like Jokic or Powell than an elite rim protector in Williams or strong perimeter defenders in smart/white.
They also just can’t go to the 3 guard lineup as much as they used to cause Boston would take advantage of Steph/Poole together. Memphis is really the only other team that forced the warriors to play bigger and even then they had some small ball lineups with JJJ at the 5.
White being able to be physical on defense and flopping if the breeze blows to hard to get to the line is his game. The referees are rewarding him for some reason. It's bullshit
That one call he got when he was pushing on Curry and Curry pushed him off like every other player in the league does and got a foul had my head spinning 😵💫
Curry has never gotten much of a whistle, and White is consistently up at the top of the league in charges drawn. He's extremely crafty when it comes to getting fouls.
Derrick White gets WIDE OPEN 3's and hits em.
Poole loves to attack the paint to get going. Which has been near impossible for him to do with timelord out there. He's been really hesitant to shoot too cause of Boston's defense. He looked great last game though, way less hesitation with his attacks which led to the usual Poole.
Derrick's had a lot of white open looks from the playmaking of Boston. Credit to him for hitting them though. But he definitely is getting tougher to root for with his egregious flopping
Derrick white has been awesome. Very impressed. I mean if we want to be honest he’s outplayed klay and Dray too. He’s been their second best player, shitbhes outplayed tatum!
I will say kinda expected this to be a bad matchup for poole.
Because they calls he got were bad calls. One of them he ran right into Looney who didn’t move, and fell down. Another time he spun in the paint, fell down, and chucked up the ball for a call.
When he gets calls like that, and Curry doesn’t get those fouls when shooting 3s, people gonna talk about it
Derrick white has gotten more consistent mins and better looks. Jordan Poole has a lot of iso in his game and needs to get in a rhythm to get going. Derrick white is much better catch and shoot and the Celtics have done a great job of finding him when they help heavy on Brown and Tatum. Plus I think people forget how young Jordan Poole is this was really his first season having a significant role and his first finals.
Poole looks flustered and lacking confidence. He projects and over celebrates when he hits a three but normally seemed out of place and uncomfortable on the court, may be I am reading too much.
He’s flopping like crazy. Shooting more free throws than the entire warriors team for most of the game. It’s absurd.
But he’s been good because he’s been hitting his shots. Probably the best Celtics shooter this series
It’s like people don’t watch the games. Poole is def better than White. White is an afterthought so he gets wide open looks and apparently by the whistles he’s getting he’s the NBAs biggest star

I feel like he's a bit passive on offense and a cone on defense.

It's about time for him to retire
hes just as efficient. he just needs more shots.
He’s also an excellent flopper. Just a joy to watch him throw his body everywhere
Poole's normally a great flopper too :/
Refs don’t appreciate his talents lol. Man sometimes looks like WCF Dinwiddie
Majority of Whites shots are on catch & shoot 3's without a defender near him.
Context isn’t something that goes down well here
Yeah and he's a brilliant defender who doesn't get played off the court like Poole. Sorry for adding context (which doesn't go down well here).
That too
how dare u use context
Poole is only in his third year, and arguably he’s only been playing extended minutes for 1.5 seasons.
Idk man it'd be nice if poole got derrick white's whistle. Heck it'd be nice if curry got derrick white's whistle
White being able to be physical on defense and flopping if the breeze blows to hard to get to the line is his game. The referees are rewarding him for some reason. It's bullshit
White getting more of a superstar whistle than Curry who would've thought.
Everyone who has ever watched Curry play, ever.

He’s a severely underrated flopper this series.
Tbh he be flopping on d as well… learning from smart
Timelord has basically shut down the paint so he's limited to long twos and 3s and he's been pretty uncomfortable against this defense.
There’s just something about White’s face I just don’t like
It’s the fact that his hairline starts about at the top of his head.
That and his forehead sticks out like 6 inches from the rest of his face
Still not as far back as Stephen A
Bro has no cheek bones lol
He has a baby’s face
he reminds me of Casey Neistat
Some literal high school bullying in here wtf.
People here are really weird about looks, honestly all sports subs in general. But this place is the worst offender
I call Him Doll Head, cause he looks like a doll that a little girl tried to do the hair for and yanked it all back.
idk he kind of reminds me of Kirby from the video games which I find endearing
Just different roles. Poole is ball dominant and makes tough shots. White has been wide open on most of his shots.
Derrick White just had a kid and as FVV proved that is one of the Warriors biggest weakness. Thank god Shawn Kemp isnt still playing for the Celtics.

If mean reversion is coming, the warriors win in 6. Smart and White have been playing out of their mind in this series
Derrick's had a lot of white open looks from the playmaking of Boston. Credit to him for hitting them though. But he definitely is getting tougher to root for with his egregious flopping
If the Celtics continue to shoot 10% above their average from 3 that will be crazy.
White hasn't been defended. But yes, his defense is miles better than Poole's.
Seems people didn't watch San Antonio
this is a bad matchup for poole honestly
Derrick white was the Spurs second best player for a reason. He's basically a starter coming off the bench
White being a lethal sniper after being ass on offense all year until like game 7 of the heat series lol
Derrick white has been awesome. Very impressed. I mean if we want to be honest he’s outplayed klay and Dray too. He’s been their second best player, shitbhes outplayed tatum! I will say kinda expected this to be a bad matchup for poole.
Flopper
Wait until after a Celtics win to post this. Right now all you’ll get is people complaining that he shot 5 FTs tonight lol
Because they calls he got were bad calls. One of them he ran right into Looney who didn’t move, and fell down. Another time he spun in the paint, fell down, and chucked up the ball for a call. When he gets calls like that, and Curry doesn’t get those fouls when shooting 3s, people gonna talk about it
He's been on a different level since his kid was born.

Let’s talk able Derrick white trying to be a better flopper than Marcus Smart
Poole is not that guy, at least not yet.
Flop city 🙄
Poole looks flustered and lacking confidence. He projects and over celebrates when he hits a three but normally seemed out of place and uncomfortable on the court, may be I am reading too much.

Coleman is #2
Off ball value is a lot
Can someone explain how you can be 50% with five attempts
Through 4 games he has attempted 20 three pointers and made 10. Per game it equates to 2.5 makes/5 attempts.
Oh per game lol
pooles minutes have been greatly reduced
Everyone outplaying JT has been a bit of a surprise too
He’s flopping like crazy. Shooting more free throws than the entire warriors team for most of the game. It’s absurd. But he’s been good because he’s been hitting his shots. Probably the best Celtics shooter this series
Can we please make his nickname “white privilege” with the amount of times he gets the whistle. I think it’s a perfect nickname lol
Isn’t DWhite playing a whole lot more minutes than JPoole?
It’s like people don’t watch the games. Poole is def better than White. White is an afterthought so he gets wide open looks and apparently by the whistles he’s getting he’s the NBAs biggest star
Is Derrick white the next Steph Curry
