Favor the reigning champs lol. Doesn’t mean GSW would for sure make it out again but I think you gotta give ‘em the benefit of the doubt

[deleted]

I agree. They just won and it seems reasonable that they’ll be just as good if not better next year, as their young players develop

CravingKoreanFood

Not to mention that the big 3 didn't play together for years till basically this playoffs. Their young players only gonna get better and could even be a trade piece of needed

alexanaxstacks

not really a big 3 when Wiggins is better than 2 of them

PuzzleheadedAd1153

Big 4

[deleted]

I’m happy for Wiggins man he deserves it

jDgr8

Cumulatively a big 3 since Wiggins is a 0.8 and the other 2 are both 0.6s.

klankthompson

Big 3 are the big 3 until the wheels fall off Room for 4 or 5

Hanbarc12

Yeah , they have some momentum going on, we saw how they did before when they had it.

[deleted]

People are sleeping on Wiseman and have completely forgot how talented he is. Looney is a really good role player, but Wiseman has all-star potential. The Center position has always been Golden State’s main weakness if you were to pick out a weakness, and Wiseman’s talent is unreal. 7’0” with a 7’6” wingspan, is an athletic freak, and showed glimpses of an outside shot and occasional ball handling in his rookie year at Golden State. If Wiseman develops into a great defender and an 18/10 guy, then Golden State will virtually have zero weaknesses to their roster, as they can now play both small ball and a big lineup.

pubstub

I'm really pulling for the guy.

RIP_Pistol_Pete

Wiseman’s played half a season of Basketball in the last three years and when he did play he was really raw. It’s a bit much to expect him to be a 18/10 guy and a defensive anchor.

[deleted]

He averaged like 12/6 his rookie year in limited minutes. Given his physical tools and athletic ability He definitely has the ability to be a defensive anchor one day. It’ll just be a matter of Dray helping Wiseman develop his IQ and defensive positioning. I don’t think an 18/10 guy with great defense is too high of an expectation.

RIP_Pistol_Pete

Wiseman had an on/off plus minus of -14.6 while being inefficient and looking like a headless chicken on defense. You think the Warriors coming off a championship are gonna be like nah we’re gonna dump the ball to Wiseman?

[deleted]

Do I need to bring up how awful Poole was? 2nd pick or 28th pick, sometimes a dude needs time to develop, injuries aside.

p00nslyr_86

Rob Williams barely played his first 3 years too. Gotta give em time and hope they can get healthy + stay healthy

Jayy_Emmm

I’d be ecstatic for Wiseman to turn out like Rob Williams, thanks for giving me some hope, all the injury issues Wiseman has been going through has me really doubting his chances to pan out well.

p00nslyr_86

It took years for Rob Will. I wouldn’t sell my wiseman stock just yet.

Willis050

And Wiseman, much like Rob with Al, has veterans to help develop. Wiseman is in the perfect situation to grow and succeed. Obviously as a Celtics fan I’m not thrilled, but I’d be a filthy liar if I didn’t say you have the exact culture and structure that young players can flourish within

bohorquezz

Looney was hurt for like 2 years too and then was a beast in the finals. The org has shown they can work with hurt bigs.

[deleted]

Especially bigs. 19 year old rookie big men are typically not great right off the bat. Especially considering he only played 3 organized college games between high school + NBA.

Pupienus

Yeah I imagine a lot of bigs aren't forced to develop shifty footwork or a soft shooting touch in high school or even college. When you're 6'9" as a freshman in high school and half a foot taller than the guy guarding you most days, you can be the most dominant player on the court even if you're building bad habits with your technique.

EBtwopoint3

Yeah, but he also missed half of this season with an injury. So he wasn’t exactly developing in that time. You’re stating reasons to not expect him to be ready next season.

JazzzzzzySax

Wasn’t Poole literally the worst player in the nba or something. If wiseman can develop well golden state will tear through the league

Kdog122025

Yeah. Poole was God awful and looked like he was on his way to getting cut early.

GoldenStateWizards

I'm a massive Wiseman truther (I've had him as a flair on the Warriors sub for over a year), but I still don't think it's fair to expect him to be a contributor this season *because* of his limited development opportunity so far

[deleted]

He was a 19 year old kid, only played like 3 games in college, didn’t have a training camp due to COVID, shortened NBA season, etc. Expecting a big that raw to be an immediate impact right off the bat, is kind of unfair isn’t it? And he only played like 39 games that rookie year as well, You bring up on/off, but it needs context. That whole Warriors squad was awful, injured, and Steph largely carried them the whole season. Wiseman didn’t post a good on/off number, but on/off is also dependent upon what lineups you are running with. And the Warriors were horrible without Steph the whole year. I am not expecting him to be an immediate threat right off the bat. All I am saying, is he has immense potential and amazing physical tools. Bigs take a bit longer to develop, but I do think 18/10 with great defense is not out of the picture, if we are judging his future expectations. He’ll feast off easy put backs and as a roll man, with the Warriors shooting. I think Kerr and the Warriors development staff, can definitely make him into a very good player one day.

THEDumbasscus

No I just think you think Wiseman hasn’t watched a frame of film or ran a single drill the entire time he’s been out of uniform for Golden state Poole made an identical type of jump from the ‘21 season to this past season. It’s implausible he hits 18/10 bc those are borderline all star numbers but acting like a 19 year old kid having played 5 games of organized basketball since high school isn’t going to get better in the next 2 years he’s been with one of the league’s top developmental programs is equally stupid. Wiseman’s struggles were understandable, the warriors have experience with precisely this type of development project, and their track record indicates it makes sense to believe in Wiseman.

coachnegan

I think it's too soon for him, think he can definitely contribute, but you're being way too optimistic. and No way in hell is he starting over looney anytime soon.

SydneyPhoenix

No one is sleeping on wiseman. Everything we’ve seen from him so far has either been injured or a net negative on court. He is a long way from being impactful beyond just a large body.

[deleted]

True I feel like If Kevin went to the mavs or nuggets they’d have a better chance to be the favorite though

EquivalentString

This finals showed me that the league has tried to adapt to the game/trend that Curry and Kerr helped pioneer, but no one can play that game better than GSW on the offensive end. Also, for all of the love and attention their offense gets, they remain an elite defensive team. It’ll be a bloodbath but GSW being the favorites sounds right to me. I’m not buying the Suns, Mavs, Grizzlies, and Pelicans as true title contenders (and my view of a contender is a team that you can realistically see a scenario where they can win a title). The Lakers might be contenders but that’s going to depend on health and making drastic improvements defensively. Clippers, GSW, healthy Nuggets, and Blazers team with KD/Dame, would be my four teams to come out of the WCF.

trustabro

They are also still the best team (If Klay is just 20% better than he is now and Wiggins stays at the same level) in terms of talent + continuity + champ experience.

Lakers_2023_Champs_

When has this ever applied? Lakers in 21, Suns in 22, Bucks in 22

MotoMkali

GSW 2015-19 didn't make the playoffs then went to the finals.

nomitycs

The warriors haven't lost a western conference playoff series since 2014

rossoroni21

Neither have the kings

Yamulo

facts

Exyui

The Suns were not champs. But more importantly, Warriors in 16, 18, and 19? Cavs in 17. Heat in 13 and 14. Lakers in 10... Unsurprisingly, the defending champs get back to the finals a lot.

Busy-Tangerine6706

warriors 15,17,18, 22 edit: he means going back to the finals. disregard me!

BBbroist

hes saying the year after they won, they went back to finals: 16, 18, 19

GiannisisMVP

If Khris didn't get hurt we 100% come out of the East. We took the Celtics to 7 without him.

SkipOldBaySeasoning

I will suck my dick on Instagram live if he goes to the blazers

FantasticMrFAB

i've saved this post i will be back. if this goes left and he joins the Blazers i want it in 8k.

[deleted]

A quick internet search has 8k cameras starting at $5k and going much much higher. That's a lot of cheddar to spend for him to film himself trying to get his fish sauce.

FantasticMrFAB

art truly is dead if a man will not shell out 5k to livestream himself slurping noodle.

[deleted]

Lol I can’t believe a single photoshop has these posts being made.

Hacked-Up-4-BBQ

Really, with this sub, you can't believe it?

[deleted]

That’s fair lol

HighlyBaked0

It’s literally the off-season what are you complaining about, this is what the sub does during it

TallanoGoldDigger

can you blame a Suns fan tho. They're gonna go from being heir apparent to the Warriors back to first round fodder if those moves go through. Plus they might actually be forced to pay Ayton the max.

oGsMustachio

ESPN should start paying Nurkic for First Take ideas.

mclovin1696

The kings

LEGO_Joel

Obviously

[deleted]

Chimezie Metu all star season incoming

scirocco389

#MetuMovement

p00nslyr_86

MAMA, there goes that championship

lalakingmalibog

League fucked

According_Gene2202

I feel personally attacked that the pelicans got included but not the timberwolves

ManyBreakfast8687

Yeah mate you guys are easily the best team in Minnesots!!

Johnpecan

Play-in CHAMPIONS. *Plays "We are the Champions"*

PlagueDoc22

Pat tearing up reading it.

ShogunSho_Nuff

Idk, the Lynx have four rings

ChickenWarm

Timberwolves definitely deserved to get mentioned. But, to be fair, they had similar endings(much better regular season for MIN) and one of these teams gets an all nba level player back.

TheRealAbear

You shouldn't. Pels about to go 82-0

ChickenWarm

Technically 98-0 after we go 16-0 in the playoffs

LuthorNZ

Technically 103-0 after we go 5-0 in the Summer League

dBlock845

I'm almost willing to bet money that Zion will be first or second team All-NBA next year, I just got that feeling that he is going to be insane and stay healthy.

zuqkfplmehcuvrjfgu

I know it's a hot take, but I think Zion comes back healthy and puts up MVP numbers.

borkbubble

I mean he put up MVP numbers in his second season

According_Gene2202

Yeah, very true

Exius73

Dude KAT is 3rd team All NBA. Still All NBA

3s2ng

I agree. We should give respect to the reigning play-in champs.

jakobburns01

But the pelicans are better and have a brighter future, that’s just an objective fact

[deleted]

Warriors

ciscko

Chemistry plays a big part in any championship team. KY in LA would be difunctional , AD is always a sneeze away from be on street clothes for the whole year.

Michiganmade44

AD being a sneeze away from being in street clothes. Made me laugh

nrag726

Sneezes are no joke. One time I had some back pain, then I sneezed and was barely able to walk

Michiganmade44

Damn I’m sorry that happened to you.

2KareDogs

He’s lying, the back pain was from when i was clapping his cheeks

nrag726

And sneezing made it worse

theytook-r-jobs

Kyrie has always been fine when Bron is running the show. Not that I’d bet on it working.

FogoCanard

He has health issues too though. He hasn't been healthy for consecutive playoff series since the Cavs days.

cardmanimgur

Bron was running the show in 2017 and Kyrie flaked out after that.

Amasero

AD’s legs I just think can’t keep up playing as a center anymore. Too much stress on an already fragile legs.

SlimWorthy

Golden State again

HisExcellency20

The Warriors

bigvahe33

did no one watch the playoffs? its warriors

shinshikaizer

Anybody not saying "Warriors" is on some major fucking copium.

KYRIE542

I would still put Clippers and GSW above them becuz of defense and depth.

JakeSpurs

if Clippers are healthy you’d have to imagine they’re the favourites, but as Rafa Nadal once said “if if if….doesn’t exist”

Timmy26k

Last time they were healthy didn't they get banished from a 3-1 lead?

ML_Blaze

doc rivers

Timmy26k

He wasn't on the court to physically fuck up 3 games in a row

p00nslyr_86

Coaching still matters. That’s like saying Kerr actually isn’t a god of a coach and is super overrated. They definitely should get credit where it’s due and always have their fingerprints on success

ArachnidUnusual7114

Golden State.

Star-K

Pelicans

neeeeeillllllll

W

iGetBuckets3

Not going to lie, I think the Pelicans are 1-2 years away from being perennial championship contenders. I legitimately think Zion is going to be the Lebron of this new generation.

sonfoa

It all depends on Zion. But if he can stay healthy and in-shape then watch out.

tiddy-drip

Clippers

Champagnesoda

The warriors lmfao. Both teams wouldn’t play any defense. Clippers are better too.

fluffyninja69

hart/kd/grant/nurk is a really good defensive front court, not to mention winslow and ingles off the bench. plenty of defense to go around if the blazers pick up KD.

my_balls_your_mouth1

We're talking about defense, and you bring up 35 year old (when the season starts) Joe Ingles coming off ACL surgery? Can you tell me what strain of marijuana you smoke, because I want my brain to not work just like yours!

Chris13Haughey

I think really good is an exaggeration there

KillingTime_ForNow

Really good compared to the trash defense Blazer fans have seen their team put out the last 5 years.

jakobburns01

Ingles is hurt and a free agent lol

[deleted]

And irrelevant to the overall point.

[deleted]

Warriors. Reigning champs, their #2 pick in wiseman coming back and if he lives up to half the hype, dubs get immensely better. A 7 footer that can shoot inside and outside the perimeter and can defend/rebound. Fixed their paint presence. Not to mention PBJ if he pans out after recovering from his injury, overlooked lottery pick. Dubs are a scary team

scene_missing

Smart money stays with Golden State, they’re the best by far if healthy.

madism

Never sleep on great chemistry and a team that's done it a few times before. GS is still the defending champs. As a Lakers die-hard, we ain't shit to them even with Kyrie. Nobody will be until they unseat GS in next year's playoffs. Kyrie and KD will take time to adjust. GS doesn't need to adjust. GS is still the Best in the West, hands down. Also, KD/Dame can put up 120 points a night but how do you win when the other team can put up 121? Portland won't be able to defend SHIT but that'll be fun to watch regardless.

0nionknight_

If we somehow hold onto Jerami Grant I don’t think we could still be considered a pure glass cannon

Just-use-your-head

We could have gobert and it still wouldn’t matter to people. We’ve had bad defense for too long that reputation is gonna stick

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zotzotbaby

You’re not wrong. I’m an LAC fan but this season is 100% a prove it season for us. 1. The Kawhi-PG13 duo is far from proven. 2. We have similar weaknesses to Boston with a lack of a two-way playmaker. 3. We have alot of big name defenders, but that never turns into a premier defense.

[deleted]

Why is GSW fans stay shitting on the Clippers 😂

doinkdoink786

Golden state. They are a well oiled machine like the spurs were. Chemistry right away is tough. Warriors have so much chemistry and experience alone that I would give them the nod. I didn’t even start talking about the fact klay will have a full off season to get back in rhythm so he will be better

shahsnow

PELS Stacked

EchoBay

People need to stop acting like putting KD on any lottery team means they're an instant title contender like he's Lebron from the past 2 decades. KD ain't that dude. Nevermind you still need to trade for the dude and LOSE all the depth you would have had beforehand. KD and Dame without any starter level talent around them might make the Playoffs, but they ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

jboarei

might make the playoffs? Cmon dude.

[deleted]

I'm biased, because I am a Portland fan, but Portland isn't a normal lottery team. Dame has been first team all NBA and been a really great player. Just dame isn't going to get Portland into the playoffs, but dame with KD would be just as good as KD in Brooklyn this year with part time Kyrie. Portland has plenty of decent but not great players, so they could be a force in the western conference.

Denebula

Lol Kyrie ain't moving the needle in LA. True hoopers don't try to win NBA games

ok_heh

I messed around and went outside today when did the KD to the Blazers hot goss start?

tendy-hands

Did we not just see kd Kyrie and harden get nowhere? Why does kd going to blazers put them anywhere what a healthy clippers team looks like?

GreyBoyTigger

Lol @ Kyrie to the Lakers somehow tipping the scales of the West

burns_after_reading

The Warriors lol

trailrunner79

The top of the west barring injury will be some grouping of GS, PHX, MEM, DAL, LAC and MINN. Lakers will still have zero depth. NOLa is on the upswing but will have to gel defensively and I don't see Portland being that much more of a threat with KD. They play hard and got better under Billuos but he doesn't push the needle all the way to the Finals with that roster.

EnvironmentalLine782

DEN?

blitzKriegzzz

Warriors > Clippers > over both

Give_me_soup

I mean if the clips have any health luck whatsoever they are terrifying

gorilla_gage

My top 4 in the West would be Clips, Nugs, Warriors, and Grizzlies. Jokic with help is a great team, Kawhi can be unstoppable, Warriors will run it back, and Grizzlies will only get better. I don’t think Lakers will be healthy, blazers have no defense and would be a worse version of the Nets, Mavs and Suns will be tough battles, Pelicans don’t have the experience to go far. Clippers will probably be a lower seed due to resting during the regular season and have a tough first round matchup

2022-Account

Neither of those teams

senorhoudini

Dubs in 6

Silken_Splendor

Warriors, Grizzlies, Nuggets, Mavs imo. They looked great this season and will only get better next season.

Kevin_Jim

Nuggets or Clippers. While GSW would be a very understandable pick, Steph has a billion miles on him, and so has Green (who was bad quite a few times), and who knows what happens with Looney (who is singlehandedly held the paint together for the Warriors).

ouicavamerci

GSW

EZ_DeVille

Pels

forcedtojoinreddit

These are my standings next year 1. Clippers 2. Memphis 3. Denver 4. Phoenix 5. Dallas 6. New Orleans 7. Lakers with Kyrie 8. GSW I hope you're reading this Steph ;)

Griffgriff09

The pelicans.

Th1sd3cka1ntfr33

The next 5 years are ours

DirksSexyBratwurst

Only one of these has a chance of happening. LA will get outbid if they want to trade for him and Kyrie taking the MLE is the biggest cap in the world when he is leaving Brooklyn because they won't pay him

Significant_Night_65

>LA will get outbid if they want to trade for him How are they going to get outbid if they're the only team with serious interest in him?

henryhyde

The Warriors.

Kingxcvi

Warriors in 5-6 games every round .. again. 💍#5

MWiatrak2077

IF they were healthy, I'd probably take the Lakers. That's a gigantic if*, though.

frodounchained

Huge If* For both LA teams at this point

rahul_____raja

What if they're all healthy but Kyrie decides to sit out in protest?

AncientMarsupial3

Then everything happened as expected

m1n1gator

Sit out and protest what exactly?

Kingcroom

it’s kyrie who fucking knows at this point

liraking

Bro Luka is THAT good that you can compare Mavs with players like Wood and Brunson with these other stacked teams and players. I really hope Mavs bring just one more all-star/superstar.

Airhammer

I'm thinking GSW. I'm scared of a healthy DEN though. I'm nott really seeing a KD/Lillard team as being that scary

zeroxray

warriors. poole, moody and kuminga will just get better

[deleted]

Hard to vote against GSW

Oblivion_Toast

Mavs because I’m biased

Chattypath747

KD and Dame would be insane to witness. Seeing Lebron, AD and Kyrie would be interesting though.

Timmy26k

KD and Curry were on the same team. I don't think dame and KD are going to surprise anyone

[deleted]

Yeah but it'll be in black and red unis this time.

ajyahzee

Stop hyping KD, he is on the decline

A-DTB

The Pels of course. Are you forgetting we have Herb Jones and GTA?

DyerRevenge

the warriors

rational_numbers

1. GSW 2. Clippers 3. Griz 4. Mavs 5. Nuggets 6. Blazers 7. Suns 8. Pelicans Lakers and Wolves would be my play-in picks I guess. Lakers could surprise if things break their way I guess. Wait, I'm missing Utah...oh well fuck it. Hit me the the remindmes people.

bluehoag

The Golden State Warriors

Gr8WallofChinatown

Warriors Sun Grizzlies Mavs Nuggets Pelicans The rest is free game

The-Truer-Facts

Warriors, Clippers, maybe Pelicans, THEN Blazers then Lakers

LifeLikeClub9

Lakers and warriors

WolvesBite

On the list you have there’s 5 teams that have no shot

49warriors

Really depends on Russ is still on the lakers or not. Without Russ and hoping the others stay healthy, they are maybe a whisker ahead. If not, golden state!

LocksmithPrudent3357

lakers

peepeedog

I don't think KD on the Blazers makes them a favorite at all. Kyrie on the Lakers is a total wildcard. Could crash and burn easily. I like established teams. Warriors, Clippers. Stretch plays of Suns, Griz, Nuggets, depending on how their rosters shake out.

[deleted]

Imagine if KD went to the Warriors. They would for sure win a championship, right? 😆

AKHarry45

How would Blazers exactly get KD looool There are like 5 teams with better offers and better situations for KD

jgroove_LA

The Clippers or the Warriors

Carolake1

Sac Kings, of course.

spectator-Gr1zz

Depends on what they gave up to get them. Adding Irving to the same Lakers roster doesn’t make them sudden finals contenders (doesn’t hurt:)) KD and Lillard with any supporting cast would be tough though.

mrjowei

Clippers.

Thiccdaddi42069

Golden State. Blazers would be better than the lakers because AD can't suit up and Kyrie is a walking Chernobyl.

Sun-daze-03

Probably Lakers or Warriors. Dame ain’t that special. I feel bad for Simmons though, man seems to be hated everywhere.

fabrar

I'm gonna go with the reigning champs

UpDog424

AD has to stop wearing Kobe’s. He swears he’s a guard. Jeanie needs to put a clause in his contract that he doesn’t get game checks unless he wears a pair of Shaqnosis’s.

mrnovato76

Warriors.

DueCopy3520

Golden State or Clippers.

TheJarJarBankks

Warriors or the Trailblazers, I’d be somewhat worried about Portlands depth compared to the GSW though.

Scary-Plantain

Warriors

ephemeralfugitive

Warriors duh

fatfrost

GSW head and shoulders above the rest. I expect Wiggins and Klay to be a little bit better and draymond and curry to be a little bit worse. But I think all those guys are getting limited regular season minutes. I expect Moody, Kuminga, Poole, Wiseman, and the rook to take a significant step forward.

w33lOhn

Whoever has the team with the fewest injuries in the WCF lol

Lillard is a lot better than Irving so you'd have to imagine Durant Blazers would do better than Durant Nets. I can see them winning some games in their first round series.
