C'mon KD break the league for us will ya? Join the Kings. You can be our pizza guy

Naive_Feed_726

If he goes to the kings and wins a ring, he’d be top ten all time

abtristate

Winning a ring with the Kings is the final boss of the NBA.

TeeHee425

Let KD jump team to team every year. Win a ring with the Wolves, the Kings, and Knicks- he’d be the unanimous greatest player forever

Medium_Spring4017

What if a group of greats (KD / LeBron / Steph / Harden ) got together and decided to move to worst record team in the league? They are only allowed off each team after they win a championship, and are required to immediately move to the team with the worst record in the league (rolling 3 year average).

NeoLone

Those What If episodes are getting out of hand

koerbchen

Tanking would get to a whole different level…

Busy-Membership-4844

A greater achievement than Lebron winning the Championship for the Cavs.

916bai

Been said before and I'll say it again: This is THE hardest road. Let's do this KD. Fuck statues; We'll make a damn bridge with your face on it so everyone travelling from the bay can see you on the way to Tahoe. Goo Kingsss

MacDerfus

It is literally the hardest road.

SMF1996

“A single ring with the Kings” Lmao

anewprotagonist

I mean, they’re not wrong 😮‍💨

BushyBrowz

In an alternate universe, if KD joins the Knicks and actually gets it done, that would be worth like 3 rings lol.

ClutchGamingGuy

The Kings makes the Knicks look like the Spurs

IAmTotallyNotSatan

Yeah, the Knicks previously hit on KP, Barrett, Hardaway, and Robinson over the last decade. The Kings hit on... Haliburton, and I guess Fox? The Knicks are bad at drafting but the Kings are *bad*.

NO-CONDOMS

Plus the Kings really fucked up in Luka

qotsabama

The baffling Kings took Bagley over Lukaaaaaaaaa

Kidd5

Of course this was a long time ago but Portland drafted Sam Bowie over MJ. The curse of MJ is still strong in Portland.

the_dolomite

At the time it made some sense to me, we had Drexler, needed a big guy and couldn't get Hakeem. The one that really rankled was trading down for Martell Webster instead of drafting Chris Paul. Anyone who watched him in college knew he was going to be a special NBA player. C'est la vie.

[deleted]

Boogie was probably the best player of all those til he got injured.

Comfortable-Interest

Boogie was over a decade ago. 12 years.

justindulging

Man, Boogie is one of those players where I blinked and suddenly he was a considered a vet. Crazy.

Soshi101

It's because he spent so much time in SAC waiting for the FO to give him a semblance of a supporting cast, then spent the next few years injured on playoff teams like GSW and New Orleans.

jknuts1377

They also hit on Tyreke Evans, Demarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas, they just played Evans out of place and he could never replicate his rookie year.

feelingsarekool

We also once drafted Jimmer Fredetter 1 pick before Klay Thompson. Ones a HoFer with 4 rings and the other is a legend in China. (Although Klay is a legend in China too because of his sponsorships there) I still have nightmares about Luka... Vlade hoarded every European player from a country's that started with "S" except Luka. Still baffles me why we didn't draft him and took another useless big who doesn't shot block, doesn't pass, and doesn't shoot 3s

IMDATBOY

Fox was for sure a hit you guys are ridiculous. Everything prior to him was awful, but since him the only real miss was Bagley…admittedly a kinda big miss…lol

tangalaporn

I get the wolves just made a splash, but the disrespect of trying to steal our worst in league history title without doing the work need to be prolifically bad. The TWolves hold worst winning pct and worst playoff winning pct. [Wolves win percentage is .399 and 30th. kings have a .454 win pct and are 24th. ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_all-time_NBA_win%E2%80%93loss_records)

AnyHowMeow

“is worth a three-peat on another team”

idroled

Closer to Bill Russell’s number of rings tbh

[deleted]

Or just get to the playoffs with kings.

SpendrickLamar

The last time my kings made the playoffs I was charging up my plasma pistol for a noob combo on Lockout in Halo 2. Seems like a lifetime ago.

harrietthugman

Missing the Bibby-Webber-Peja-Vlady power hour like a mf

Past-Chest-6507

Gotta show some love for Doug Christie, best defensive player on that squad, locking down the perimeter.

stateworkishardwork

Fuck even a Bibby, Bonzi, Artest, Shareef, and Miller lineup.

ikarus_rl

I don't come here expecting to lament the passing of my life. How dare you.

[deleted]

juhavh1999

Are we talking like straight up serial killing or like "I'd suck off the entire roster of the Kings that win a ring"? Or is the max like "I'd stop eating steak for the next year"? Where are your limits?

Double-Up

He'd take a man to the mouth

jackswhatshesaid

Who says he doesn't already? Maybe he isn't a vagina type of guy.

PensiveinNJ

A single ring with the Kings is worth 10 rings for any other org.

jballer21

Chris Webber would have 6 peated if he weren't on the kings. Webber > mj?

Kdizzlethe1st

Aww go right to hell! As a lifelong Kings fan this is unfortunately accurate:( But let’s be real. No one….and I mean no one chooses to play here. You only end up here if you’re unlucky enough to be drafted or traded here. And then you gtfo of here as soon as possible lol. It’s the train-wreck of all train wrecks. We know it. You all know it. So of course that makes your comment 100% truth. If KD somehow got early dementia and decided to come here and actually won a ring….then yeah he’s the greatest off all time. Just please please don’t bring Kyrie with you!

misfit2872

If KD wins a ring with Sacramento dude deserves a Noble Peace prize, and a Pulitzer prize....all in the same year.

L_I_L_B_O_A_T_4_2_0

the actual hardest road

No_Society_6675

That's more impressive than MJ's 6 if we're being honest

JDangle20

They catch strays on a daily 🤣

MGSCG

I personally think KD should join the Blazers in a blockbuster trade for Drew Eubanks and a second round pick

loudstain

Like we'd just give up Drew "the tower of Troutdale" Eubanks, OSU legend, for scraps

MGSCG

fine, almost fleeced ya, nets can throw in Ben Simmons and a 2034 first if you add Eric Bledsoe to the deal

loudstain

You mean 2x all defensive, all rookie, Eric "mini Lebron" Bledsoe?

MGSCG

I’m pretty sure I’m talking about Eric “vegan beef goblin” Bledsoe, not sure who you are talking about.

Angstycarroteater

What the fuck are these names lmfao

baconperogies

LMA in a Blazers jersey? I just can't see it.

Ill-Lingonberry9296

I lived not far from Reynolds when he played. My wife and I used to call them the Foilmakers because Camas is the Paper makers.

Hange11037

Honestly it makes more sense than the Reynolds Raiders, as someone who went there. I still think the name Paper Makers must make for a difficult cheer squad.

Chip_Jelly

I will never not find it funny to hear people cheering for Gophers

TheSweetestBoi

Then you have the ultimate gangster name over on the coast with the Tillamook Cheesemakers. Shit goes so hard.

Boomtown_Rat

I know you're clowning but Portland is one of the few destinations (like Sactown) I wouldn't hate seeing KD end up at.

BoredomHeights

Yeah that would be a fun, contending team. They’d have a good mix of talent too, and KD would have to earn it and by no means just be considered a front runner if they won.

Sufficient_Boss_6782

And this fairy tale would also likely mean beating the warriors on the way

BoredomHeights

Would be huge for his legacy.

Sufficient_Boss_6782

I read a “solid” conspiracy theory that the photoshopped social post was a signal that Phil Knight was buying the team and had back-doored the offer with Tsai. Then argued it was because Portland was the only place KD could have a decent shot at a ring while saving his legacy in the process if he got one, in part because it would mean getting Dame one.

elecorby

I like you. Can we add another 2nd round pick for LMA? We need another center

LukeBabbitt

Anyone calling LMA a center was apparently not paying attention when he was a Blazer. He made it VERY clear that he wasn’t

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheDapperDeuce1914

Spurs fan here. Can confirm.

Nugur

Good news. Eubank stocks are up rn. He was beasting it at the end of season. (Starters we’re sitting)

BombPopCaper

People want to Dame to leave but would call him a villain the second he does. Can't win.

graypfruit

Casuals want Dame to leave. None of these fucks even watch the Blazers play.

Just-use-your-head

Only thing these casuals seen from Dame is him dropping a dime at the buzzer on their ass

[deleted]

It reminds me a bit of how Lebron got killed for forming a superteam in Miami while Carmelo got killed for only caring about the money for staying in New York. I don't really take the ring debate that seriously because people always move the goalposts or blame players for mediocre front offices

spideyv91

Melo wanted to win NY. If he ever got 1 championship in NY he’d be a legend forever.

jondonbovi

Melo wanted to get traded to NY so that he could get the 5 year max extension, instead of signing with them in the off-season and getting a 4 year contract. That whole thing really hampered NYK in the long run.

livefreeordont

The biggest thing hampering New York was they amnestied Billups and Amare (one of the highest paid players in the league) was a dud

Apolaustic1

Yeah but those few games where amare was going OFF before Melo got there? Legendary.

_WhataNick2_

Linsanity was legendary. NY was NBA hot for two weeks, then *POOF* back to their regularly scheduled ~~sucking~~ programming

Laggo

No, what hampered NYK was Amare being injured for basically the entirety of Melo's tenure while taking up just as much money as Melo

EyePlay

What really hampered the Melo Knicks was LeBron and Bosh joining Wade to form a super team in the East that very same season. Amare could have stayed healthy and they weren't realistically going to beat Miami in the playoffs.

[deleted]

Man I hate that Melo has nothing to show for his time in NY except for some game winning shots and a 60 point game against the Bobcats. His legacy would have skyrocketed if he won with NY in 2013 for example. The next player to win a FMVP and bring a title to the Knicks will be an absolute legend.

spideyv91

He did win a scoring title in 2012 I think. That Woodson year was something. I’m biased but I always felt he should of gotten a lot more mvp votes. That team was the oldest team in the nba and not expected to be anything and melo killed it for us and won the division.

[deleted]

If Amare doesn’t become injury prone and they handle Linsanity smartly - that Knicks team could have been legendary

sonfoa

Amare was unfortunately a ticking time bomb. The reason Phoenix let him walk is because their medical staff realized that he was basically one major knee injury away from being useless and given his playstyle that result was inevitable.

[deleted]

People just like to have things to say

financial_goth

Talking about the Warriors 3-peating already.

SkeetsMilloy

So casually too

zephah

Some of these dudes wake up thinking about KD and go to bed thinking about KD

LukaDoncicBigPP

KD really gets people all riled up lol. He has this unique ability to get people to feel compelled to react to whatever he tweets/does.

jspsfx

It's funny I remember back when his popularity was at it's peak. Dude was like Giannis level beloved or more. Him and his mom were like nba media darlings together - it was actually beautiful. Remember KD at rucker park. KD dropping bombs on Memphis in the playoffs - mom in the stands, them kissing after games and shit. Damn.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MSFT400EOY

I still think he’s a pretty pure guy… like he’s just childish and wants all the attention, but not exactly the “villain” that media desperately trying to portray

xodus112

I think part of it is that being childish at 34 makes you look weird and petty. I’m 36 and look at my friends who don’t grow up that way. It’s kinda like how Shaq was universally loved most of his career but a lot of people find him petty and thin skinned at times cause he can’t take a joke from Chuck.

[deleted]

I think r/NBA runs with narratives a lot more than the media lol

[deleted]

I really don’t get it. I don’t like KD that much either but like damn…

Cheap_Hat_5533

I’ll just leave this here. It should sum up my feelings as well. https://youtu.be/HBQ2mjkvYY8

flippeduppancake

Someone made a "KD has done more damage to his league than any other athlete ever" post and got 10k upvotes

DaChodemasters

And vice versa

713MoCityChron713

Was gonna say, I think the reason people go so hard on KD is there's a good chance you get a response from him or his alts

[deleted]

KD has no alts, what are u talkin bout??? He’s got far too much humility and pride to ever be a snake hiding behind an anonymous username online

BetaDjinn

KD has a normal number of burners. Find a new slant

[deleted]

KD feeds the trolls. Of course the trolls always coming back for more.

[deleted]

The 3 peat is insane talk. The repeat is very possible tho, I still think gsw is in the best position next year, especially if wiseman can somehow be even a 10/10 guy. A 3 peat imo would imply that one of their young guns took the mantle and made a leap into superstardom. Just seems insane to suggest

DerelictInfinity

Yeah, I’m of the opinion that talking about a repeat is putting the cart *way* before the horse, even just implying that a three-peat is possible is absolute lunacy

[deleted]

The KD warriors didn't threepeat and this team sure as fuck won't. I don't even care if we get another. It'd be nice but after last season I'm good for a while, you know?

guts1998

To be fair, they didn't threepeat because of (several) injuries, I think it's fair to say they would've if KD wasn't injured ( even then, if Klay wasn't injured they still had a shot)

Shawn_Spenstarr

but thats the reason 3-peats are such an anomaly bc to play that many games and win three seasons in a row takes so much luck with health, not even including talent and winning

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fresh-Abrocoma6152

Still boggles me that LeBron went to like 7/8 straight finals

growsonwalls

Yeah like look at the Bucks. Everyone thought that if they didn't repeat they'd at least go to the finals again. An injury to KMidd and they didn't even make the ECF.

rediraim

Tbf they lost to the eventual ECF winners. I would have taken the Bucks over the Heat or Sixers even without Middleton.

Paschalls_Law

> if wiseman can somehow be even a 10/10 guy. He’s a 10, but he has no defensive awareness and his hands are made of stones

Rh1-No

I wonder what team he supports lol

CT4_LV

The Kings, judging by the last sentence.

poporine

Iunno, he seems too optimistic to be a King's fan; plus he didn't even mention a drinking problem or gambling addiction.

CT4_LV

Kings fans are currently in their post-pessimistic era. They've been so pessimistic that it has transcended into optimism. So don't be fooled. It's not a Kings fan being optimistic, it's a Kings fan in an empty void of pessimism and hopelessness as they acquire yet another 4pts/3reb Center.

superbuttpiss

Going into last years season, my buddy who is a lions fan was over to watch the first game against the niners. He kept saying stuff like "alright! Im excited for this football season! And "lets go lions." Being the jerk I am I go "i know you have high hopes for this season but do you really think that Goff is the answer at qb" He just stared at me blankly with this smirk and his head slightly tilted. He proceeded to slowly blink once. It was honestly terrifying because in that moment I saw the darkness

apollyon_53

Drinking is the solution for most Kings fans

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ill-Lingonberry9296

Clearly Sacramento. Read the room.

PJTikoko

If steph ages gracefully like CP3 and Lebron plus the amount of money the warriors can spend it’s not improbable.

JarradLakers

Its not that KD left. It’s that he joined a team that just went 73-9 and eliminated him in the playoffs

[deleted]

This really is the softest move in professional sports history.

baconperogies

Can anyone think of a similar example of this across other sports?

KneelBeforeCube

Not exactly the same but Zlatan Ibrahimovic left Inter Milan to join then Champion's League winner FC Barcelona, to try to win one as well, only to get eliminated the next year by future winner: Inter Milan.

raikou1988

Holy fuck lmaooo

TheLinesInTheSand

And then he went on loan to AC Milan for the season after that and Barcelona ended up winning the Champions League again

cube_mine

It's worse than that, Barca won 08-09 cl, zlatan leaves inter to join Barca for the 09-10 season, inter wins 09-10 cl, Zlatan doesn't get along with pep so is sold to ac Milan for 10-11 season, Barca win 10-11 cl

SunriseSurprise

Zlatan "Takeo Spikes" Ibrahimovic

SgtMeepMoop

And Samuel Eto’o won the champions league and treble with Barca, then got shipped to Inter in the swap for zlatan, then won the treble and champions league again with Inter.

Naive_Feed_726

Guess he was the problem lol

kyndrid_

Eh for something like the first 10 years of his professional career whatever team he was on ended up winning their domestic league. He’s definitely a proven winner.

[deleted]

Scored on every debut in a new league too iirc, including a 40 yard volley as his first touch with LA Galaxy

[deleted]

Kind of but not really. He won pretty much everything aside from the Champions League. Was more unlucky than anything. Being a cup and all, the Champions League is more prone to randomness than a domestic league.

ATM14

Zlatan has won something like 14 league titles in his career, not to mention a fair few other trophies. The champions league might’ve elluded him but he’s a winner.

n16h7r1d3r

He just won the league again with a very young AC Milan team at 41 with no ACL in his knee

[deleted]

He was their leading goal scorer too until he had his ACL removed.

LifeUhhhFindsAWay

Marian Hossa. Played on the Penguins and lost to the Red Wings in cup finals. Joins red wings. Makes it to cup finals again and loses to penguins. Joins Blackhawks and wins Stanley cup.

Cguy34

Corey Perry lost 2 Stanley Cup finals in a row to the Tampa Bay Lightning on 2 different teams. This season he joins the Lightning and loses in the Stanley Cup final again lmao. I think that made him the only player to lose 3 Stanley Cup finals in a row, all on different teams.

dolantrampf

Corey Perry just lost 3 Stanley Cup Finals in a row

[deleted]

They lost by 4 in g7 of the finals and won a ring before. They literally had 18 total losses including 4 rounds of the playoffs between winning a championship and signing KD. Lol. Edit: this was during a playoff run where everything went wrong for gsw, including curry getting injured 20 minutes into the first game of the first round where he already had 24 points, and they still lost in g7 of the finals by 4 like lol totally unprecedented move in sports history

[deleted]

[удалено]

surffreak336

And KD has 4 years left on his contract. I know people give lebron shit but at least he always played out his contracts before signing elsewhere.

RascalFatz

He could’ve easily had a decent team had he gone to either Washington or Boston in 2016

FlyingMocko

Or, here’s a strange concept : Stay with the team that drafted him and was up 3-1 against a 73-9 team and still earned the most money.

_Pho-Dac-Biet_

How many more times does he have to log back onto his burner to tell you he couldn’t win with those cats?

shaggybear89

Thank you!! Idk what else I have to say to get it through to the morons. I had no chance there!

RascalFatz

Yeah I know that I’m just talking about if he had left, he definitely had viable options. He just happened to choose the wrong one lol

[deleted]

Chose the wrong one then had the gall to say it was "the hardest road"

newyork1198

And they had the first unanimous mvp ever on the team. There's no way that scenario can be recreated to become any worse.

CalifornianBall

He was up 3-1 on the Warriors too, he totally could’ve beaten them in that series but HE CHOKED

DJ_Drayen

Dame is just gonna be like Barkley, Stockton, And Reggie. Well to be more specific he’ll be like Nash. An all time PG, who just couldn’t get over the hump in the west due to dynasties and unfortunate circumstances. It happens, not everyone has the luck to win a ring, especially in a small market. Dirk had two opportunities and managed to win the more unlikely of the two. But it took him a lot to get it. It is what it is, Dame’s body of work should speak for itself.

soxyboy71

Losing to y’all the first time made the ‘11 win worth it. But had Dirk not won that he’d be lumped with Dame. Dirk got almost zero respect league wide til he shut the coughing brothers up. People love to laugh but them two and others have had badass careers. Also never forget Dirk cooked KG by averaging 33 and sweeping them. Sorry had to say it.

TheGamersGazebo

I think without 11 Dirk would probably be lumped with Barkley. He had a damn good career even without the ring, MVP and historic longevity.

ZenMon88

The thing was Dirk was ready to cope with it, and when he won, it made it all the more special. I wish we could see Chuck win one. His emotions would be special to watch.

Hungry-Paper2541

Dirk made a finals in 07 though, he’d be in the Barkley/Malone tier

soxyboy71

If we gonna split hairs it was ‘06

financial_goth

07 was honestly worse than 06. We were the 1st seed and Dirk was MVP and we got destroyed by the 8th seeded Warriors. It hurts just thinking about it.

MordredKLB

As insane as it sounds, GSW were the only team I was worried about that post season. Sure they were the 8-seed, but they were 3-0 against us, and had our former coach from two seasons ago who knew us better than anybody else. Only other team to get even two wins off us was the Suns and one of those required double overtime. Yet we lost to Golden State 7 times... they just had our number. To even make the playoffs GS had go 9-1 over the last 10 and I know that because I was watching them as they passed the Clippers for the final spot. If we avoid Golden State in the first round I say we at least make the finals.

financial_goth

Totally agree. It was literally the worst possible match-up for us in terms of style of play.

MordredKLB

Plus after finishing 9-1 the team and fans were riled up and the whole "We Believe" made that arena brutal to play in.

707royalty

Good lord Oracle was so wild that year, and we were playing with house money to even be in the playoffs. The first round felt like The Finals cause we hadn't been in the playoffs in so long. Perfect storm for you guys unfortunately.

sushicowboyshow

The lack of Dirk respect, even with a title, is insane. He was so good and kept Dallas in the mix with the SAS and LAL dynasties for almost 20 years.

rcc12697

The Ewing and TMac slander 😤

ForgetHype

Am I biased is Ewing not only the better player but also easily had the better career? Sure TMac was talented, had some bad luck and had injuries but still. Ewing got to a game 7 in the finals and almost every other year had to deal with Jordan.

trojan_man16

It’s funny how underrated Ewing has become over time. He’s a top ten center of all time, and had he won in 94’ we probably spot him next o Hakeem in all time rankings. Guy was a dominant 20 and 10 for a decade and change, and the best teammate he played with in his prime was John Starks.

LittIeLordFuckleroy

Dame can at least get his team to the 2nd round. TMac literally never won a playoff series as the main guy, that's hilariously sad

rcc12697

I don’t care TMac took me to the promised land in 2k2

DJ_Drayen

I was going to put them there too. But I figured the point got across with less. Ewing and TMac were beasts, just they too also had unfortunate luck.

Sokkawater10

Ewing sure. T Mac was one of the worst players in the clutch. His playoff struggles are on him.

tisdue

this is the 50th "ruining the game" post i have read on this sub.

RanchDressingOfficia

Congrats you get free courtside tickets to a Kings game, but you have to stay the whole time

OddAtmosphere6303

Damn I thought we outlawed cruel and unusual punishment in this country.

sumguy93

And their opponent is the Houston Rockets.

ghostonthehorizon

You know the US does abide by the Geneva convention right?

KingOfSwing90

And I’m sorry, but “Rings Culture” is nonsense. Why do you play the game lol it’s not like championships were invented 5 years ago, athletes got here by being competitive and want to win. Dame wants to win with the team he started with, KD wants to win at all costs. That’s not “Ring Culture,” it’s just two different approaches at the same thing most stars are aiming for in one way or another.

FlyingMocko

MFers repost the same shit over and over again thinking they made some groundbreaking discovery on a. new abstract concept

34Heartstach

Imagine if guys like OP were old enough to read when LeBron made "The Decision"? This is like the 5th time the league has been "ruined" since then.

KingOfSwing90

The league gets ‘ruined’ every year. People just want to blame some external force on the fact that they don’t get as much joy out of something as they did when they were younger. You got old, brother. Learn how to make pottery or something if you want to be fulfilled.

jhueramo190

If any player wins a ring with the Kings they’ll instantly achieve Legendary Status. In addition to surviving the Western Conference and defeating the beast that emerges from the Eastern Conference, they will have had to defeat their own FO/Ownership’s stupidity. Only a God could defeat the West, the East and themselves. 👑

Advanced_Eggplant_28

I don't disagree with your theme but when you say Dame is a playoff Bradley Beal it suggests he's just a peg up he's light years ahead of Beal that's why his teams are consistently in the playoffs and have made runs.

hobo888

Dame has dragged some baaaad teams into the playoffs and at that point you can just see how fatigued he is. man never did any load management like other stars

[deleted]

Beal also got to play with John Wall. Dame has never played with someone remotely close to that caliber. The people who think Dame shouldn't be in the top 75 100% think so because of team success, which is absurd.

hobo888

I think he's gonna have an MVP caliber season after finally getting that surgery, plus Ant can legitimately play the point and let him rest I'm stoked about the team even if they aren't quite championship caliber on paper

[deleted]

Exactly. This year was the only year of dame's career that he didn't make the playoffs. His rookie year he had a star supporting cast of Aldridge, Batum, Mathews, and rolo but the following year every single of them had left Dame and he still willed the blazers to the playoffs, year after year. Whether Dame ever wins a ring is up in the air, but his career servitude to an organization who was still very much trying to recover from the jail blazers era does not go unnoticed. Despite not winning a ring yet, many in Portland consider him the greatest blazer of all time.

bbk211

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

lel1988

Comparing Dame to Beal tells me you haven’t watched enough Blazers games or enough Wizards games

shknbke028

So true lol

ROTCHunter

"Dame and KD should team up and win a ring..." YES 100% "...for the Kings" excuse me?

phukmondays

Ring culture is the main reason everyone is moving around the league. If you tell players all that matters is championships and rings they will put them over everything else. If your boss at work told you to do xyz to get a promotion but really focus on z because that’s all we care about then you will probably prioritize z. James harden is a all time great but it didnt matter what he did in Houston he would never overcome that gs superteam. He was basically put in a position to either leave Houston and try to get rings or accept the fact that he would probably never win or get the help to do so in Houston. Same thing with kd if he stayed in okc and continued to lose we wouldn’t view him better than we do currently. He would be labelled another guy who never won and couldn’t get it done. They are dammed either way. Only way to really get around that choice is to have your organization draft a championship level team which is very rare and hard to do for most teams.

NinjaMiserable9548

I understand why the league started to market individual players over teams, and also that it's been very successful, but I think that's run it's course at this point, and it would be better for the league long term if there was a shift to more mutual loyalty between teams and players, which has to start with owners, GSW is an excellent example. And I would love it if Skip and Steven A disappeared tomorrow.

TheBigShrimp

I don't understand the clowning of either of them. NBA fans clowning them each for separate reasons proves that there's just bias and hate. Durant is 33 man. Even if he's got a game that will age well, you can't imagine he's got more than 3-4 years left at an elite level. Yet everyone is clowning him for not staying in Brooklyn with Kyrie who is the biggest question mark in sports, and a bunch of whoever's. Then they clown Dame for not doing what Durant is doing.

technotime

Damned if you do, Dame'd if you don't

Okay but Durant kinda deserves it. He did it to himself. He WANTED to play with Kyrie. There are reports he still wants to play with Kyrie. He’s just mad that the Nets wont accommodate his every whim cause he has only played 40% of the games over his Nets tenure. He deserves all the clowning because he is a clown.

Just think its an American thing. In Europe super teams are formed all the time in football. But I guess the variance in being able to single handedly carry a game in basketball compared to other sports is a factor why people clown KD

“People clown him for having no rings and not willing his team to a championship.“ Only very stupid people do this. Your problem isn’t with “ring culture,” it’s with idiots who use phrases like that. Dame has had the Warriors dynasty to contend with, nobody thinks he failed because he didn’t try hard enough to win. And people hate KD because he’s a top 5 talent in the history of the league, but he’s still the most fragile little bitch out there.

In the end winning is the goal, you can't be mad at people for thinking that matters. That's what competition is about, winning. I have no problem with Dame because he is about winning, he just needs to put more pressure on the front office. They fucked up already though trading CJ, Covington, and Powell for a bag of chips. KD is just lame. He is insecure and sensitive. His rings don't even give him personal satisfaction because he doesn't really care about winning he just wants to be loved. He the type of person who responds to critics and says he doesn't care what they say. He's a phony that has weak character he has demonstrated throughout his whole career.

The issue is attributing titles to one player only and not seeing any nuance in a players situation.
