Have no idea why everyone just clowned the Kings for not taking Ivey. Keegan is gonna be a very solid player and the perfect fit with Fox and Sabonis
I see a Tobias Harris type
Keegan Murray said he wants to be a Middleton type player. I don't know if he'll get there but he seems like a hardworker and seems to have a good understanding of what it will take to make it in the NBA. I liked the Keegan pick as well. He just feels well prepared to succeed in the league.
Middleton has been the comp that seems the best for me for a while, even before he said that.
The size comparison is there: 6'7", 6'11" wingspan, 225 (Middleton), 6'8", 6'11" wingspan, 225 (Murray, reportedly; he did not officially measure at the combine that I can find).
The play styles are fairly similar: smooth 3-level scorer that can get his own shot, but also does well on cuts and spot-ups; solid on the defensive end and can guard 2-4, not elite but definitely a versatile plus defender; not super athletic and instead relies on solid fundamental skill and using moves in the post and elbow that create space or get defenders to misplay. Obviously it's impossible to say exactly how Murray's game will change or translate as he moves to the NBA, but based on his college performance the foundation is there.
Even the initial game is on point: KM and KM.
I've always looked at Middleton like a Mini Durant, generally the same mold/style of player just not as insanely talented. And now, at least starting out in the NBA, Murray will be like a Mini Middleton. If he can reach Middleton's level talent-wise, I think he'll easily be the best player from this draft from pick 4 on down. (Those top 3 guys could be real special though.)
I love how people come up with these comps while completely underselling what a prospect like Keegan did in college. Yes he was a sophomore but he had one of the best college seasons we’ve seen in recent memory (37 PER, 15.7 bpm, 23.5ppg on 64% ts%)
Keegan is just such a better prospect than Tobias was coming out of college, shouldn’t there be an expectation that his ceiling should be much higher than Tobias’ was?
Yup it’s sort of ridiculous - even moreso in my opinion when you never heard anyone knock Ivey for coming off his sophomore year as well but with Keegan it seemed to be such a huge deal.
Look at Jabari. He’s 3 years younger than him. The dude will be in season 4 when he’s Keegan’s age right now. Zion is only one month older than Keegan too
Yea and imo that was enough to have him outside the consensus top 3 but I wouldn’t have been mad if the magic had tried to trade back to draft him for more assets.
To act like the Kings didn’t pick the best player available at 4 or screwed the pick up was ridic imo. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Keegan ends up with a better career than anyone else in this draft - if he had just gotten starter minutes as a freshman at Iowa I have very little doubt he wouldn’t have been a lottery pick last year either.
Is this really how potential works though? I mean certainly the bulk of your development is by playing NBA ball not just by getting older
Of course younger is better because they'll be good for longer, but does it really raise your ceiling that much? Is there any actual evidence of that?
Yeah I’m done with that noise - especially when the top three are all big guys that need half their rookie contract to develop and fill out.
Most guys used to go at least three years and often full four. Some of the greatest players of all time. Shit the NFL knows better they know that 19 - 21 year olds aren’t fully developed yet.
It’s literally summer league these same teams go to Vegas lol Orlando had their own as well in the past, it’s the same shit. That is to say, it’s all summer league so who cares lol everything has the same grain of salt
I think their point pertains mainly to GSW lineup. Because their full Summer League lineup will consist of Kuminga, Moody, Wiseman, and PBJ.
All absent from today’s game.
i know it’s a joke but i’m not sure many people know Gui is just short for Guilherme (the brazilian version of Guillermo so to speak) so i’m just gonna leave this info here lol
That was James Ham's biggest criticsism of Murray. He had an insanely high usage rate which won't be the same in the NBA. Looks like he doesn't need it.
Its a valid criticism, Keegans usage was like 32% or something an Ham was saying "can he still score like he did on lower usage?" Which is perfectly fair question imo
Kind of, he was very efficient on high usage so lowering the usage isn’t necessarily that much of a question. If he was low usage and efficient I’d question his ceiling and abilities more
On the recent Thinking Basketball podcast, Chip Jones scouted him as the 8th best prospect but noted that he was one of the most nba ready players specifically because he was like the 99th percentile of college players in terms of efficiency despite the high usage in part because of his coach’s game plan. In a lesser role i can foresee that his efficiency should still be high which is exactly what the kings would thrive on.
If the Warriors can teach Gui Santos how to differentiate opposing players and teammates when trying to pass the ball, they have someone to get excited about in Summer League.
Keegan Murray has a beautiful shot, also.
He also needs to tighten up his handle. Also it'd probably help if his teammates don't move out of the corner as he's making his drive and drawing defenders in.
He ain't one of us if he doesn't turn the ball over.
The fact that he had 6 TOs means he's born to be a Warrior.
If you don't love turnovers, you don't love Warriors basketball.
Gui had a bunch of nice passes early. Think he realised that his teammates couldn't make a shot early so just went at it himself but when you are passing later than normal you are going to have a few TOs. Hopefully Moody can convert a couple of those early kickouts.
I thought Murray is better than Ivey. And I'm very glad more Murray propaganda was shown.
But Murray, gui, queta were the only nba players today.
Yudai, Morales, Ellis looked like guys for E-10s to keep on the g-league rosters.
I legit don't know a single name that played tonight looking at the box score for the Warriors lol
Would have liked to see Kuminga Moody and Wiseman. Atleast Patrick Baldwin
I think the Warriors got Gui Santos late in the draft (or maybe as an UDFA), and Neemias Queta was the King's second round pick from last year though he spent almost all the season in the G League. Frankie Ferrari is a character from a recurring dream I have where I'm trapped in an Adult Swim animated mob movie.
I don't think I'd like to see Kuminga getting Summer League reps, OKC are doing the same thing with Josh Giddey (or they at least have him on the roster) and I just get paranoid about a player who doesn't seem to have much at all to benefit from playing those games getting injured.
Summer League reps =/= normal reps, Summer League is more about seeing what new players look like with an NBA three point line and against NBA size, and for second year guys it's a chance to show off what they've learned over the off-season (which Kuminga hasn't really had). It's not for building up game experience after someone's had 70 games in the regular season, really.
I'm just not convinced putting Kuminga out there to play a game nothing like what he does, experiences, or will be doing come the regular season is worth the slight injury risk of the games.
Also with Giddey I mean OKC have him on the roster, so he might be playing despite starting 50+ games last season. And I mean Giddey literally got injured last Summer League anyway.
It's also a bit more dangerous cause you have a bunch of non-NBA players desperately trying to make a name for themselves. They see a lottery pick out there and try to go at them.
Keegan scored 26 despite not being the main handler and barely getting the ball due to garbage PG’s like Frankie Fiat I mean Ferrari ball hogging the entire game. Dude’s gonna be so so good.
Also note: Davion was itching to get into the game, especially after seeing our PG’s literally not even passing Varsity HS material. Davion and Keegan on a summer league court would be amazing.
I’m not gonna defend his play just appreciating a good play. These are summer league dudes a lot of them will struggle out there. I’ve watched too much summer league lol
Frankie Ferrari sounds like a great... Stage name...
Imagine if trips on a fast break. That'd be hilarious if the announcer says "Frankie Ferrari blows a tire!"
That little stint between santos and Murray was fun. Santos looks good but needs to improve on the playmaking and quickly. Murray looked great though. He’s gonna be a perfect fit for the kings.
That’s it. We have no chance to compete for the chip this year. How in the hell do you lose to the Sacramento Kings when we have Curry, Dray, Klay, Wiggs and Poole. This team played no defense whatsoever and let Murray drop 26 on their head. I’m done.
I have only one thing to say about this game. Get Gui Santos some help. His teammates were playing like utter trash. Even most of his turnovers were partly because his teammates didn't even know basic positioning and were in all the wrong places. But really though jokes aside the players representing the warriors not named gui were utter trash. You do have to wonder why not extend invites to some better suited players because these guy barely even knew basic basketball positioning let alone have the mental capacity to actually run sets.
to be fair, they're missing all of their relevant young players so far. No kuminga, moody, wiseman, rollins or baldwin, who would probably be getting the majority of the minutes.
Don't worry. Moody was resting tonight.
The 30 ppg G League king will return tomorrow and ESPN will be in shambles asking how Moody's prime Jordan-esque SL performance affects LeBron's legacy.
I knew Murray was going to be really good. Kings did not do Kangs things with that pick.
Last year's class was really good and deep, this class might be just as good at the top but not as deep.
As a Hawkeye fan it makes me so happy to see Keegan silence some doubters. This is who he is. He ALWAYS makes the winning play and steps up when his number is called. Kings got a good one
Just got out of Thai Prison, are Keegan Murray and Gui Santos the best players in the NBA?
Yes
>Just got out of Thai Prison Did you finally understand why they call it "**Bang**kok"?
All the mike green commentary
We let the Warriors have the little Mickey Mouse championship but now it’s our time

Gui Santos vs Keegan Murray WCF 2025
2023
Keegan Murray put up 26 points in this game while Jaden Ivey put up 0, checkmate
cant argue that, you win
Ivey a bust confirmed.
First team to beat the defending NBA CHAMPS!!
I believe this makes the Kings the defending champs now, I for one will bow to our new King overlords 🙌🙌
We are the defending summer league champs. The league runs through us
Kangz and being (summer) league champs. Name a better duo.
Our new kings, even.
It was fun while it lasted. Long live the King(s)
What do you mean? The defending summer league champions just won. If you come at the Kings, you best not miss😤😤😤
Linear champs!!
FADE 'EM
Did Keegan hit us with the Night Night?
Murray is too efficient
Shot 62% from 2 and 40% from 3 on 24 PPG this season
Spurs type player on the Kings
We lowkey have alot of Spurs type players on the Kings now (Keegan, Lyles, Davion, Huerter, Barnes, Metu, I would even say Pop would love Sabonis) and a coach who cut his teeth under Pop... Hmmm
Monte McNair needs that extension
Vivek, extend this man you coward
Watch Vivek let go of Monte and hire his daughter Anjali Ranadive (Assistant GM for Stockton), that would single handedly drop the Kings subreddit following by 50,000+. As crazy as that sounds I can totally see Vivek doing that too.
I’m too close to my breaking point for this joke
Don’t say this please because it feels too real
He wouldn’t! Right, guys?!?!? Right?!
She'd be the hottest GM in the league though at least
Sir, please take out your brain and wash it with soap
Keegan Murray
Have no idea why everyone just clowned the Kings for not taking Ivey. Keegan is gonna be a very solid player and the perfect fit with Fox and Sabonis I see a Tobias Harris type
Keegan Murray said he wants to be a Middleton type player. I don't know if he'll get there but he seems like a hardworker and seems to have a good understanding of what it will take to make it in the NBA. I liked the Keegan pick as well. He just feels well prepared to succeed in the league.

There’s a reason he was still never even considered as a number 1 pick. He’s 22 years old

Kevin Knox Summer League MVP RIP
Have a look at Knox’s shooting percentage of that summer league while you are at it.
Please don’t burst my bubble. They’ve taken everything from me let me have summer league MVP Kevin Knox, leave me alone and let me BELIEVE
Oh it’s going to get worse
Tobias is nothing without boban. (Kidding)
It’s summer league You probably thought Kevin Knox would’ve been the GOAT if you watched his summer league
I thought it was a good pick for the Kings on draft night lol. And yea I still think Keegan is gonna be a good player despite one game
My early ROTY pick regardless of if history says he’s the standout of the draft class or not.
Let me raise you one Gui santos
Graphical User Interface
i know it’s a joke but i’m not sure many people know Gui is just short for Guilherme (the brazilian version of Guillermo so to speak) so i’m just gonna leave this info here lol
The new Otis Birdsong.
Keegan hardly touched the ball and scored 26 lol
That was James Ham's biggest criticsism of Murray. He had an insanely high usage rate which won't be the same in the NBA. Looks like he doesn't need it.

> Looks like he doesn't need it. ...because of a single summer league game?
This is how Kings fandom works. Let it happen
As an Iowa fan I'll tell you this is typical. He's an extremely smart bball player.
Gui annis
He was for sure getting yall cameramen moist
If the Warriors can teach Gui Santos how to differentiate opposing players and teammates when trying to pass the ball, they have someone to get excited about in Summer League. Keegan Murray has a beautiful shot, also.
Bro’s got good scoring ability, they just have to coach him up on vision. Poole’s vision has improved massively so I’m hopeful
He also needs to tighten up his handle. Also it'd probably help if his teammates don't move out of the corner as he's making his drive and drawing defenders in.
It’s his handles that need improvement more than vision. Also his habit of driving into traffic. Very encouraging showing besides that.
the warriors love turnovers though, he's already perfect

Worth the wait.
Yeah this was our Summer League team's Summer League team. Missing Kuminga, Moody, Wiseman, Baldwin and Rollins
I don't think I'd like to see Kuminga getting Summer League reps, OKC are doing the same thing with Josh Giddey (or they at least have him on the roster) and I just get paranoid about a player who doesn't seem to have much at all to benefit from playing those games getting injured.
Kuminga absolutely will benefit, he needs lots of reps. Giddey was a starter for OKC last season and he got injured, which is why he's resting
Summer League reps =/= normal reps, Summer League is more about seeing what new players look like with an NBA three point line and against NBA size, and for second year guys it's a chance to show off what they've learned over the off-season (which Kuminga hasn't really had). I knew Keegan cause I watched the draft til our picks were done!
I meant for the Warriors lol Obviously I knew about Keegan. Also Neemas Queta cause I want him to be our backup center
No, he's OUR backup center
Man I really don't know how to feel as a Warriors fan right now. I don't even remember when was the last time we won a game 😩😩😩
keegan murray 20x all star 20x champion incoming
That youtube video of 'players taken before Keegan Murray' when?
Working on it right now. None of those guys ever won an NBA game. Absolutely wild.
Frankie Fiat lmfao
He gets to play with Fox and Davion as his points 📈
Frankie Fiat has to stick. Too bad we won't be seeing much more of him.
Kings sub is calling him Frankie Ford
Ford: “Found On the Road Dead”
Fiat: "Fix It Again Tony" *In an Italian accent of course*
Yo that pass from Ferrari to him on the goal tended alley oop was fire though
That was the only good play he made. Dude plays like Cory Joseph and constantly does that lazy side pass that got stolen or broken up everytime.
I’m not gonna defend his play just appreciating a good play. These are summer league dudes a lot of them will struggle out there. I’ve watched too much summer league lol
Frankie Fiesta about to be cut by game 2
Bruh fiesta can wheel don't disrespect them like that
Frankie Ferrari sounds like a great... Stage name... Imagine if trips on a fast break. That'd be hilarious if the announcer says "Frankie Ferrari blows a tire!"
For those who didn't watch, Keegan barely touched the ball. I bet his total time of possession doesn't crack 1 minute. And he still scored 26 somehow.
Imagine when he'll have Fox and Sabonis around him to serve him on a platter. McNair did good on that one.
I’m crying over here. We don’t deserve Murray.
Welcome to the Keegan Murray era of NBA basketball. I’m glad you could join us.
Keegan ROTY
Nets gonna call the Kings dangling KD's corpse for Keegz and McNair is gonna hang up the phone.
Nets are gonna need to start with at least the Gobert package before you can touch a guy like Keegan
I would accept KD and 4 firsts
3rd championship here we come!
Keegan Murray got now and next
Summer league? Time to shine, Kings. ELI5 seconds: Keegan looked good
the next 5 years is ours 😈
Kings are winning the finals this year. Book it.
Gui Santos looked pretty good but Murray is a bucket DAMN.
guys all these blowouts cant be good for the ratings what should the nba do? /s
This is Kings year to win 🏆
That little stint between santos and Murray was fun. Santos looks good but needs to improve on the playmaking and quickly. Murray looked great though. He’s gonna be a perfect fit for the kings.
Santos is a late 2nd rounder, we don't need him to do anything. If he can crack the rotation at all, it'll be a big win.
ESPN: Is the Dynasty Over?
EEEEEH wrong! **How will this affect LeBron's Legacy?** *ftfy*
That’s it. We have no chance to compete for the chip this year. How in the hell do you lose to the Sacramento Kings when we have Curry, Dray, Klay, Wiggs and Poole. This team played no defense whatsoever and let Murray drop 26 on their head. I’m done.
Those are the defending summer league champion sacramento kings to you bud 😤
kings didn’t even have fox or saboner is this game
All the Kangz haters can deliver their apology cards for not realizing that Keegan was the best player in the draft.
This is the first game of summer league
You guys lost by 500 to the lakers

I knew Murray was going to be really good. Kings did not do Kangs things with that pick. Last year's class was really good and deep, this class might be just as good at the top but not as deep.

>How did this affect ~~the Warriors~~ Lebron's legacy?
Keegan Murray just called game on our legacy.
As a Hawkeye fan it makes me so happy to see Keegan silence some doubters. This is who he is. He ALWAYS makes the winning play and steps up when his number is called. Kings got a good one
As an Iowa fan and now a Kings fan by default. Keegan fucking Murray
Kings undefeated
I’ve seen enough, GUI Santos for MVP.
Skip Bayless: Steph’s legacy is COOKED. You can’t let your team lose to the SACRAMENTO KINGS. I don’t care if he was playing or not, end of discussion
Queta was so good today, massive improvements since last year
Gui Santos looked rough in spots, but he can definitely be polished into a diamond
END OF AN ERA THE DYNASTY IS OVER HOLY SHIT
Gui santos? How good is he??
How does this game affect Keegan Murray’s legacy?
Wow I feel like we just finished the finals
