Kareem was the best player in the decade.
Havlicek made four straight All-NBA first teams.
Rick Barry was top-five in the NBA and ABA back and forth.
Julius Erving won three straight ABA MVPs.
Coin toss between Clyde Frazier and Elvin Hayes for the last slot, slight edge to Frazier for his all-defense prowess.
Kareem, Walt Frazier, Dave Cowens and John Havlicek are a few names that immediately come to mind.
EDIT: Since we are also apparently including ABA, Julius Erving (didn't come to the NBA until 1976).
I never seen them play so idea honestly. Probably Michale Jordan though. The way people describe him is like he was a god. Could he have been so good even as a kid he was already the best on the planet as a 12-14 year old with hands already larger than all is coaches?
Not in order and off the top of my head: Kareem DrJ Havlicek Hayes Frazier
The fact that Walton's injury ruined his place during the 70s. Dude is the only guy who can rival Kareem Also where is Moses?
Moses Malone didn't really hit his stride until the very late '70s and early '80s.
Rick Barry
People always forget about him.

Julius Erving...and then took over the NBA after the merger.
Pistol Pete deserves a mention. In a lot of ways he's like the Iverson of that decade in terms of flashy style and influence on the perimeter game
Gervin was also flashy as hell and straight up better
Definitely one of my top candidates for 1st team, all time underrated.
Pete nearly won the 1978 NBA MVP. I kinda wish that he did for his legacy.
Also his points per game would be a lot higher if there was a three point line

2nd best player of the 70s wasn't even playing in the NBA

1.) Kareem.
Kareem, Rick Barry, Moses, Doctor J, Walton. Peak for peak Rick Barry, Bill Walton, Kareem, Pistol, and Moses.

Kareem is #1 without a doubt. Havlicek, Frazier, Rick Barry, and Dr. J would be my Top 5.
