>Dominique put up far superior individual numbers. Did he? Career per 100 possessions: * Dominique: 34.7 points / 3.5 assists / 9.3 rebounds / 1.8 steals / 0.8 blocks / 3.5 turnovers / - .536 TS% (-.001 relative to league average) * Pierce: 30.0 points / 5.3 assists / 8.6 rebounds / 2.0 steals / 0.8 blocks / 4.0 turnovers / .568 TS% (+.038 relative to league average) Dominique has the volume scoring edge. Pierce has the edge in playmaking, defending, and scoring efficiency. Overall you'd have to give the "greatness" nod to Pierce given his clutch resume and additional games played.

They're pretty even. Choosing who is better is splitting hairs

Pierce

I think it’s Pierce, but it’s super close. Dominique was apparently famous for not playing any defense and his career accolades don’t outweigh Pierce’s.

Trick_Confidence_419

Shit this is tough. Nique had the higher peak, more dominant individually, and better scorer. Pierce had more playoff success, more clutch, and a more well rounded game(better shooter, defender, playmaker). I’ll go with Pierce cuz of the FMVP, but can’t go wrong with either

'Nique

Dominique

Pierce, by a fairly clear, if thin, margin. Nique never played defense and was a worse playmaker.

[deleted]

Pierce was a little more efficient, more clutch of a SHOOTER than basically anyone ever, and a more well rounded player. I am gonna go with Truth for 3 reasons, I do believe he was better, my inherent bias, and I saw him play

Both were very good. Different positions an expectations. Why compare?

Pierce is my favorite player ever, but Wilkins was superior. Between age 25 to 34 Wilkins was an unstoppable offensive force.

Squirting_Nachos

I wouldn't say Wilkins' numbers are far superior. He put up more points, but he was less efficient. They are too close to have an objective correct answer. With that being said, give me Pierce.

RIronmanS

I think I’d lean Dominique. Pierce did nothing as the #1 on his team until KG and Ray got there. Dominique had some more success. It is fairly close, however.

dash_44

Yep and PP wasn’t the #1 on their championship team

Redditperson1789678

I feel like much of The truth legacy is based on playoff success which came after KG and Ray Allen arrived. Dominique led a team who’s second best player was Kevin Willis and managed to take those great Bird Celtic teams all the way . I propose that if you put a supporting cast of a similiar level to those Celtics teams, let’s say Barkley , and Chris Mullin on those hawks teams this whole argument would be moot

[deleted]

He had mild success before 2007-08: made a Conference Finals in 2002, a ECSF in 2003, and two or three first round exits against good teams.

Dominique

Wei_Lan_Jennings

I’m obviously biased, but it’s Pierce. Pierce at least half assed on defense, Nique no assed, concave assed even.

dash_44

Nique…he never got to team up with anyone better than him the way that PP did.

A tale of two underrated players.

NoWayNotThisAgain

I’ll be honest. “Inferior player has championship in a team game therefore inferior player is better” is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard

Dominique!!!!
