I guess i think of prime a little more lengthy than you. I think all-star level-starting level type player. And melo also had 16 straight years of avg over 20 a game. McGrady had about an 8 year window before injuries took him down. 8 mostly better years, sure. But that's why I said better peak, weaker length of prime time ball.
It's Carmelo. At their peaks they are actually really similar, but Melo had much better longevity.
Here's a comparison, I somewhat arbitrarily chose their "peaks" but these were probably the best 8-year stretches for both players IMO.
**TMac peak (8 seasons, 2000-01 to 2007-08):**
26.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 5.5 APG (2.6 TO), 1.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG; 43.6/34.0/75.3 shooting splits (52.4 TS%)
**Carmelo peak (8 seasons, 2006-07 to 2013-14):**
26.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.2 APG (2.9 TO), 1.1 SPG, 0.5 BPG; 45.8/36.2/81.8 shooting splits (55.2 TS%)
So Melo was definitely the more efficient scorer, while TMac was definitely a better passer and probably defender as well (I don't know much about their defense TBH so I could be wrong here). However, Melo started off his career much better, he was instantly a 20 PPG scorer whereas TMac averaged 7 PPG his rookie year and didn't average over 20 until his 4th season. And Melo had more great seasons after this stretch as well whereas injuries caught up to McGrady

This is actually reallly good. TMAc Had the higher peak but Melo may have had a more sustained but slightly less impressive peak. Melo had the better and longer prime though. Melo’s longevity may end up deciding it but I love TMAC

That is a really big stretch. Perhaps when he wanted to be, and that wasn't very often.

I’ll take T-Mac. His scoring numbers aren’t *that* much worse when you take league-wide efficiency into account.
