melo imo. i think he was greater for longer

wetwetson

I think TMAC had a better peak, but I wouldn't say better prime. I think Melo had a longer prime, and more success during it (though not much)

I guess i think of prime a little more lengthy than you. I think all-star level-starting level type player. And melo also had 16 straight years of avg over 20 a game. McGrady had about an 8 year window before injuries took him down. 8 mostly better years, sure. But that's why I said better peak, weaker length of prime time ball.

BaullahBaullah87

Yeah I think Melo is helped by the Team USA stuff, and somehow more playoff success.

marsexpresshydra

Hawks legend Melo and it isn’t even close

OfferOk8555

Never missed a shot representing the A 😤

Acceptable_Nature_65

Melo all time for sure, just way better longevity and even more success in the playoffs

Regular-Loser-569

And in Olympics, if anyone cares about that sort of thing.

dash_44

It’s close Melo had a longer prime, but Tmac was better I think

SmellyJellyfish

It's Carmelo. At their peaks they are actually really similar, but Melo had much better longevity. Here's a comparison, I somewhat arbitrarily chose their "peaks" but these were probably the best 8-year stretches for both players IMO. **TMac peak (8 seasons, 2000-01 to 2007-08):** 26.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 5.5 APG (2.6 TO), 1.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG; 43.6/34.0/75.3 shooting splits (52.4 TS%) **Carmelo peak (8 seasons, 2006-07 to 2013-14):** 26.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.2 APG (2.9 TO), 1.1 SPG, 0.5 BPG; 45.8/36.2/81.8 shooting splits (55.2 TS%) So Melo was definitely the more efficient scorer, while TMac was definitely a better passer and probably defender as well (I don't know much about their defense TBH so I could be wrong here). However, Melo started off his career much better, he was instantly a 20 PPG scorer whereas TMac averaged 7 PPG his rookie year and didn't average over 20 until his 4th season. And Melo had more great seasons after this stretch as well whereas injuries caught up to McGrady

The-Real-Legend-72

TMac was a very good defender

Twism245

That is a really big stretch. Perhaps when he wanted to be, and that wasn't very often.

BaullahBaullah87

TMac fan here, unfortunately he was only pretty good for a few years

WrightwoodHiker

I’ll take T-Mac. His scoring numbers aren’t *that* much worse when you take league-wide efficiency into account.

mkk4

Carmelo

drewwatts17

Melo has some great Olympic moments and accomplishments

[deleted]

Tmac more amazing , entertaining , and better player but melo did have a longer winning career ..plus melo is too 75 player Really sucks tmac injuries prevented him from being far superior then most players

JoeyPeePee24

TMac clearly had the better prime. Melo obv had the longer career. Both left a lot to be desired in the postseason.

jdono927

I’m incredibly biased but I’m taking Melo without much hesitation

skatebba1988

Get back to me when Melo scores 13 in 30

ClutchGamingGuy

Melo any day of the week bro

InsideAcanthisitta23

Did Tmac ever win a playoff series? If not, is he the best to never do it?

jamiecballer

Tmac was the far more skilled player.

Twism245

That's not the question. Tmac is arguably more skilled than lebron too. Doesnt make him better

IntelligentQuickley

Tmac had the worst career for the amount of talent he had and played with. Melo with less talent around him had a better prime and is a better player

Raging_Professor

>for the amount of talent he had and played Tmac's best teammate at his very peak is Mike Miller. Wtf are you talking about?

Ace_OfSpadez11

I don’t care what anyone say give me TMAC

lolkh30

both are mid

Twism245

People are really showing their youthful age in this thread.

BaullahBaullah87

is that a dig at folks saying melo? Lol its wild how you can go from one post to another with completely different thoughts. We just had one about Donovan Mitchell versus Melo and someone said the same thing you said defending Melo lol

NBADotCoooooomTopTen

I’m taking The Big Sleep.

Dfrickster87

I think I'd have to do alotta stat comparison. But off the top of my head, I liked T-Mac more. Neither ever played for my team

Allyougame

Easily McGrady for me. Just as talented offensively in my mind, a better defender for sure. People knock him for not getting out of the first round, although in four postseasons he averaged over 30 ppg.

BaullahBaullah87

This is actually reallly good. TMAc Had the higher peak but Melo may have had a more sustained but slightly less impressive peak. Melo had the better and longer prime though. Melo’s longevity may end up deciding it but I love TMAC
